{ G } A G E { D } R E W { C } O O P E R Was I scared? Hell yes. I always like rain. Loved rain really. It was hard to dislike rain. Soothing was an understatement. Dull, yet it was so warming, at least for me. However, when rain got too bad, the sound of thunder and the bright flash of lightning just ruined everything. Unless I was lucky to be inside. But obviously the clouds thought I was an ass. It looked to be nice out. It looked really nice when I left. But that all changed so quickly. First, the rain began pouring down. And then the first burst of lightning flashed, blinding momentarily. Then my only goal was to run as fast as I could, searching for any bit of shelter.
That was kind of two hours ago. Soaked? Hah, that word didn't even mean anything to me. I was more than soaked. I felt like water, if that was possible. Sure, it would've been fun to just not care that the only pair of clothing I brought was going to need to be put into an oven or something to dry it out. That would normally be pretty damn awesome. But the lightning and thunder wouldn't let up. I would've already given up had the path not looked easy to follow. Obviously I'm just incompetent. And that made me more determined to find a tree or anything that could keep the rain off of me.
Some good things came out of starting this journey, though. Firstly, the bonds between myself and my two partners. Partners meaning Pokémon. Friends would be a good term too. Echo and I had already begun as amazing friends when he came from the egg. But I didn't expect Shade to get comfortable so fast. Prior to the insane downfall, both Echo and Shade were out of their Pokeball, already acting as friends. Any improvement is good improvement, and it was better this way. I wouldn't have liked having them fighting. Oh, and the items were good. Saved me money.
This journey was more than I expected it to be. I couldn't decide whether I meant that in a bad or good way. Yeah, it felt better to be out and about rather than trapped in my room, wondering when my time would come to have some excitement or moping about my brother. It felt good to follow in his steps and to live the life he loved so much. But there were so many more steps I would need to take and so many more rain drops that wanted to hit me on the top of the head. Everything was so much bigger than it seemed when I looked out my window at home. I guess I had to make a decision at some point on whether or not I would continue this journey or turn and return home.
Then I saw the tree. It was a pretty big tree, but it was the leaves on top, bushed together tightly, that interested me. It meant a little break from the pouring rain and a chance to just gather myself. Maybe let Echo and Shade out to get some air. I ran over to it, dropping to the ground as soon as I was no longer under the pelting of the raindrops. I let both Echo and Shade out, letting them walk around in front of me. Echo stayed closer, probably fearing the rain, while Shade bounced around in the air without care. It was good to have a break though. I'd need plenty of them on this journey.

<WAHHHHHHHH!> A voice cried for help. The sounds of his scream echoed through the route. Running for his life a Bidoof scrambled down the hill. He had angered some Weedle and they had stung him in the read hind countless of times. <Don't hurt me anymooore!> He cried, tears flowing out of his eyes. The Weedle scoffed and then fled back to their tree. The Bidoof sighed in relief and then took a step only to tumble down the hill.
Rolling down the Bidoof stopped when he hit a rock. Slumping against it he growned. <Ow...>

{ G } A G E { D } R E W { C } O O P E R I thought that getting out of the rain would be good. Well, it was more than good. We sat under the tree for a bit, allowing my clothes to dry out some what. Maybe the rain would stop too so we could continue, although it didn't appear to be letting up. It looked like it was getting worse too. That meant we'd have to wait it out under the tree, which really didn't bother me much. Nobody was expecting me to be anywhere, so I could wait all day. Boring, maybe, but possibly necessary. Catching a cold would not be beneficial, I can guarantee that.
That's when I heard the rustling noise, ending with an "ow" and the sound of somebody hitting something. I pushed myself up off the ground, looking around to see if I could see anything. It was hard to see in the distance because of how hard the rain was falling, but I'm sure I wouldn't have seen anything anyways. Maybe it was the small bit of me inside that inspired to be a Ranger that acted. Maybe it was that I was generally a nice guy and would help anybody if they needed it. In the end, I stepped back out into the rain. It only took a few seconds for my clothes to get soaked again. But I could see the outline of a figure, slumped against a rock. Moving closer, the details began to appear more.
Shocked. Yeah, that's what I was. Not because of the position of the poor Bidoof, but because it made a sound. Normally, that's fine. I've heard many Pokemon make sounds. However, never have they been...human. Ow? This was definitely the first time a Pokemon said ow in my presence. I slowly approached the Bidoof, making sure it didn't decide to turn hostile. "Are you alright?" I shout out, hoping that the sound of the rain doesn't drown it out. I was ready to help this Bidoof, no matter what I had to do. The fall down the hill couldn't have been fun and hitting a rock probably didn't tickle. So, I went right up to it and got down on my knees.
[Gage has approached the Bidoof, wanting to help.]

With his derp moment over he pulled back from his bite before he did something he'd regret. He seemed to mumble an apology and bite his lower lip, embarrassed at that. It seems like it was super easy to startle him. With his head no longer spinning around he lifted himself up to his feet and immediately shook down his body, sending dust everywhere. "This happens a lot... I'll be fine." He assured the trainer, glancing off where he'd just come from. He started to wander back off in that direction for reasons unknown. Strange little guy. Follow him?

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,485][atrb=align, center][atrb=cellpadding,15px,true] gage drew cooper I'd never been one to be afraid of Pokemon. Unless they were huge or scary as all hell, I would approach them with no worries. Even the wild ones. I've had many cuts and bruises from protective ones, but I keep trying to help them. Maybe I was stupid, I didn't care. If they let me help, I'd feel better about myself. That's why I've always wanted to be a Ranger. This Bidoof was just another Pokemon who could've been injured. However, this time, the Pokemon spoke. It actually said english words. That's not normal, at least from my experience with the world and Pokemon. And it interested me so damn much.
And who would've guessed, it lashed out. I yanked my hand back, still feeling its big teeth brush against the edge. Stepping back a bit, I keep my eyes on the Bidoof, being careful this time. It then spoke again, this time a sorry. I stared in shock and awe. Maybe the rain was getting to me somehow. Could that happen? "This happens a lot... I'll be fine." Okay, it definitely just said something. Maybe I'm tired. That could be it. Hallucinations come from being tired, I think. I can't even think straight. It's just so shocking. The Bidoof looks towards the hill it must've fallen down. Then it just left. Wandered back in the direction it probably came. And I didn't know if I should follow or not.
I decided to do it anyways. Why not? I ran back to three, grabbing my bag by its strap and throwing it over my shoulder. Then I ran off in the direction the Bidoof left to. I quickly caught up with it. "Hey wait! I can understand you. How can I understand you?" I shout out, slowing down my pace to walk beside the Bidoof. I wanted to know what was happening. Was I going crazy, or was this actually possible? And part of me felt sorry for the little Bidoof. So, I waited for an answer. credit to damen please don't steal Gage followed the Bidoof. Echo and Shade are in their Pokeball. |

lv 4 | male unaware | simple tackle | growl scared easily, doesn't like to be crowded. wants friends but scared they'll reject him. bit of a klutz The Bidoof didn't realize he was being followed until a full five seconds after Gage spoke and began to follow him. He stopped walking, and super slowly he looked over his shoulder, eyes focused intensely upon him with a bit of paranoia in his eyes. I'm being followed... I'm going to die! He thought to himself. He looked foreword again and began to walk a little fast, hoping that Gage would leave him alone. It was also probably worth noting that Bidoof hadn't answered his question. But then again he didn't have an answer for him anyways. He seemed to be heading for a large berry bush, full of beautiful ripe berries. A few wild poke'mon who were gathered around the bush scattered at the sight of the trainer and the Bidoof coming towards them.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,485][atrb=align, center][atrb=cellpadding,15px,true] gage drew cooper I should've given up right there and then. It was fairly obvious that the Bidoof didn't want to be near me as it picked up its speed, acting very jittery. I realize that it's stupid to follow a possibly injured Pokemon, who is wild by the way, back to where it came from, which could also be the home of many other jittery Bidoof's who are not afraid to use their teeth. I am completely aware of that. I was completely aware of that when I decided to follow him in the first place. It had became a whole lot more than helping somebody that was hurt. It...spoke. I couldn't get that out of my head. It was burned into my mind. And that was enough of a reason for me to follow it, ignoring its obvious fear.
Wild Pokemon scattered around us, running back to their friends and family for protection, obviously not wanting to be near me. But just in case, I pull the ball of Echo off my belt, sending him out. He shakes slightly, obviously glad to be out of the ball. "Oh shit, it's raining." Were the words that followed, the words that almost sent me falling down the hill, unable to stand up. "E-Echo?" It was such a shock to hear the Bidoof, let alone the Growlithe that had been with me since I started this journey. Maybe I was electrocuted? Hit by lightning? It sounds so implausible but it's my only explanation to why all of this was happen.
"Yeah, it's me. Wait, you heard me?" Apparently I'm not the only one who is new to all of this. Does this happen with everybody? I have so many questions but I have a feeling nobody can answer it. Not that I don't like this level of...connection between myself and the Pokemon. It's just so different. Am I alone with this gift? So many things would need to be talked about but for now, I felt the need to follow the Bidoof. Maybe I could find a way to help. And if not, at least I got an amazing gift from this ordeal. credit to damen Echo is out of his Pokeball, being protective. Shade is still in his Pokeball. Gage is still following the Bidoof. |

He actually wasn't incredibly easy to spot, but if you watched him leap into the bush you'd obviously know that he was in there. As he jumped into the bush he knocked two Oran berries from the berry bush. Both landed between Gage and the Bidoof, within easy reach of the trainer if he wanted them. Bidoof gazed out from the bush, sticking his entire round head out of it to stare at the trainer. "Hey... hey!" He shouted. He tried to sound bigger and scarier than he actually was. "If... if you can understand me like you say... then why don't you leave me alone!" He asked. His voice quivered as he spoke and totally betrayed his real feelings. Although he was trying to be intimidating he really was very scared of the trainer and his poke'mon. The Growlith looked like he could make a crispy Bidoof sandwich if he really wanted to! Bidoof pulled his head back into the bush.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,485][atrb=align, center][atrb=cellpadding,15px,true] gage drew cooper The Bidoof was afraid. Simple as that. I had already established that it was jittery and nervous with everything, but this was different. It was truly petrified beyond anything I had ever seen before. Even when my mother learned the news of my brother. The look in her eyes was filled with sadness and fear, but nothing compared to this Bidoof. And I felt bad for it. That's why I ignored his request to stay away. Yes, I could understand it, both its speaking and its body language. However, I wanted to try and help it, if that was even possible, in whatever way I could. The quiver in its voice gave him away. He was afraid. Something sent him down that hill and I felt the need to find out what.
And then there were the two berries. Bidoof had knocked them off the bush as he threw his body into it. They appeared to be Oran berries. I'd pick them up any other day, handing them over to Echo or Shade or tossing them in my pack, but now was different. Instead, I picked them up and held them out. "Hey, come on out. I'm not going to hurt you." I beckon, putting my other hand out behind me to tell Echo to stay back. "I won't send you falling down a hill. I want to help." credit to damen Echo stands back, obeying Gage. Shade is chillin' in his Pokeball, yo. Gage offers the berries. |

lv 4 | male unaware | simple tackle | growl scared easily, doesn't like to be crowded. wants friends but scared they'll reject him. bit of a klutz Oh... food. The Bidoof was eager to eat, his nerves however were holding him back. The berries... they looked so tasty! They'd just fallen from the bush at the peak of ripeness! Nothing else would compare to those two berries. His hunger (for food... and friends) pulled him out of the bush. He creeped slowly towards Gage. He hesitantly reached out, lightly grabbing one of the berries from his hand with his teeth. And then with a soft thud he sat down on the ground, grabbed the berry between his paws, and he began to happily eat it. "Thank you... you can keep the other one!" Friends share right? He was new to this friend thing. "Do you need help with anything? You've been really nice to me!" He seemed to warm up to Gage awfully fast.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,485][atrb=align, center][atrb=cellpadding,15px,true] gage drew cooper The switch between Bidoof's personalities was almost immediate. He spoke again, offering the other one, which I placed into my bag with the others. It plopped down on the ground, taking the other berry and eating it slowly. I smile at how he looks. Pokemon really are amazing. And now that I know that I can understand them, I feel more and more in love with the world of these creatures. The Bidoof suddenly asks about what he can do to help me, which surprises me. "I don't need anything. I saw you hurt and wondered what happened." And then it just continued on from there.
That's when the part of me who aspired to be a great Pokemon Trainer perked up. I suddenly wanted this Bidoof to go with me where I went. I wanted it to be a friend of mine and a friend of my team mates. But that would mean fighting it, which I didn't want to do. Unless I could be able to ask and get a good answer, but I highly doubt that. "Actually, there is something." I mutter, looking up at the Bidoof and feeling the Pokeball at my waist get heavier. It was calling me, wanting me to use it. "You're pretty awesome, and I'd gladly be your friend." I say slowly, choosing my words carefully. "Would you like to join me, Echo and Shade?" I could see Echo tense up in the corner of my eye, ready to react. He knew I wanted this Bidoof. Would I fight for it? I didn't know yet. I'd just have to wait and see. credit to damen Echo stands, waiting for an answer. Shade is all alone in his ball. Gage is waiting for Bidoof. |

The Bidoof was taken by surprise at the request to join Gabe's team. <M-me? Being on a team?> He asked in surprise. The Bidoof then shook his head. <Oh, I don't think there is much I can do for you. I'm pretty much useless...> The Bidoof said sadly. It was rather true, he wouldn't defend himself against Weedle. Weedle! He was a Pokemon, and a rather poor one at that. Or so he thought.
Being rejected by so many other Bidoofs at home he had gotten the idea that he was useless and alone, therefore he failed as a real battling Pokemon. <I'm afraid you'd lose battles with me on your team.> he said, his head hung low to the ground. Now depressed the Bidoof dropped down to his stomach.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,485][atrb=align, center][atrb=cellpadding,15px,true] gage drew cooper Yeah, this Bidoof was pretty damn confusing. I had just believed that it opened up to me, maybe believing in itself a little bit. That wasn't true. When it settled down onto its stomach, I felt sorry for the little guy. "I don't agree with that." I mutter quietly, looking into its eyes. I had honestly grown attached to this little guy. I couldn't leave now. It was actually kind of funny. And I could tell Echo was confused because of the look in his eyes. I couldn't leave because I felt rooted to the spot because of this Bidoof. And I'd stay for however long I wanted to.
"I think you'd be a great addition to my team. I'm sure you're brave. Some part of you is. You just need to find it." Cheesy? Yeah, I know. But those were the first words that came to mind and I hoped that they worked. I probably wouldn't let this go to a battle. I couldn't fight against the Bidoof after seeing it flee so much. After seeing it be so afraid of me. Now, it was like a personal goal to at least give him a reason to have confidence. And maybe he would join me in the end. I move my hand off the ground, moving it towards the Bidoof's head. I pet around his ear softly, being careful not to scare him. "I fall down hills all the time. Seriously." credit to damen Echo is still watching. Shade is debating suicide. Gage pets Bidoof carefully. |

The Bidoof was still unsure. Was the human lying to him? He couldn't tell. But it would have been nice to be on a team, surrounded by friends. The Bidoof would love that. However his trust was not easily earned. He knew how life was, it sucked. But sometimes there would be a silverlining in the cloud and he just may have found it.
The feel of being petted almost shocked the Bidoof, but the touch of the human's hand was soft. He enjoyed it, a lot. <Well...maybe....> he said as he wondered what the life of a captured Pokemon was like.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,485][atrb=align, center][atrb=cellpadding,15px,true] gage drew cooper Again, it seemed to change in an instant. But that made me enjoy being with it that much more. Pokémon truly were interesting. And this Bidoof was no exception. Probably one of the more interesting ones I had ever met. It had managed to distract me during a rain storm. Speaking of rain, it had seemed to lighten up enough so that I wasn't drowning in it. But I was drowning in admiration for this Bidoof. Oh okay, that was kind of cheesy, but true. I really felt like there was an elastic band around both of us. And if we tried to struggle and get away, we would snap back together. I felt that way when I first got Echo. And Shade too. So that must've meant that I needed to help this Bidoof in some way.
"You are tough. I can see it in your eyes. You scared me back there. I'm sure you'd be the best in this forest if you wanted to be." I said with a smile, pulling my hand back. The Bidoof was finally warming up, so I reach my hand back and pet Echo, beckoning him forward. He walks up slowly, stopping in front of Bidoof. Then he lowers his head, brushing his nose against the top of Bidoof's head. "How about we get some revenge on whatever sent you down to the hill? Then you can decide." It sounded like a fun little adventure, going after the Weedle. He made a happy cooing sound when Echo's nose touched his head. He lifted himself up a bit, standing up on his toes to nuzzle the bottom of Echo's neck. "I think with you guys I can be braver!" He said as strongly as he could, puffing out his chest a little bit. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,485][atrb=align, center][atrb=cellpadding,15px,true] gage drew cooper The Bidoof responded happily to my offer, jumping up and puffing out his chest. "I'm sure you're brave even without us. But let's go and do this." I say with a laugh, watching as Bidoof starts to head off in the direction that I assume the Pokemon went. I push myself back up to my feet. "Come on Echo, let's go help him." I mutter as I push myself forward after the Bidoof. The forest was beautiful now that the rain was gone. The sun had been out briefly, giving a dense and humid feel to the air. It smelled like rain but it was too warm. My shirt was tightly pressed against my body, thanks to a mix of some rain water and sweat. It felt good to go into the forest instead of under the sun, even though the air was still warm.
I looked around, observing my surroundings. For all I knew, the Bidoof could've decided to turn on me and bring me deep in the forest to the point where I had no idea where to go next. I doubted that though. He would've been to afraid of the consequences that might come from me. I hope at least. I like Bidoof. I've been over that point so many times since I met him. And I would trust him in hopes that I'd have such an awesome Pokemon on my team. My team would be like my family. And I would protect them no matter what because I couldn't do that for my brother. The Bidoof walked to where he thought the Weedle had gone. Though he didn't want to revenge sounded pretty good to him. OK maybe not revenge but at least tell them what he thought of them. He didn't like being bossed and bullied. It was insanely rude, and he frankly didn't like it. Who would? He stuck his head in some bushes and then popped back out. Shaking his head that there was no Weedle.
On top of the hill the Weedle were just leaving. One looked back at the Bidoof and then smirked. <Hey guys, I'll catch up later.> he cried and then rushed down the hill. Standing in front of the two he scoffed. <You again?> He asked the Bidoof.
Startled by the Weedle the Bidoof jumped. Noticing it was the Weedle he stammered. <I uh I want, uh umm...> He couldn't shove the words out of his mouth. He remembered what they did to him and the Bidoof did not want that happening again. The small brown Pokemon retreated to the safety of Gabe's legs.
The Weedle smirked at the Bidoof's reaction. <Ha, didn't think so.> He then looked at the Trainer. <What do you want?> he asked.

A Weedle was kind of weak. But I had grown to like Bidoof so much that I couldn't laugh. Instead, I glared at it as it spoke to Bidoof. Really, the Weedle thought he was tougher than he probably was. I mean, all I needed was Echo to use any fire move and he'd be done. But Echo only knew Bite and Roar. He couldn't just spit out fire. But I could tell that Bidoof wasn't ready to fight against Weedle. And even if he was, I had no clue if I could command him to do things. I had never seen somebody do that. Even the Rangers. So, I looked back at Echo, nodding slightly.
"Well, I'm here for you." I mutter, smiling slightly. "And not how you'd want me to be." I look down to Echo, who was already in an offensive stance. We were both ready to take on this Weedle. With the Growlithe snapping at him with those disgusting fangs and that terrible doggy breath, the Weedle coughed as he tried to look away from the mutt as he was bitten. <You could use some mint or something. Peee-yeww!> He hacked the words out, squirming away from the Growlithe in disgust.
Maybe a little string would get him tied up for the moment. The Weedle coughed up some string and fired it around the Growlithe's legs in an attempt to slow him down, maybe making him a better target in the long run.
The Bidoof gulped as he watched the fight, and began to fidget in place. Was it ok for the Growlithe to be fighting for him? One glare from the Weedle made him shiver, remembering what had happened to him earlier. It was very unpleasant to say the least.
ooc: Make sure to mention the Pokémon actually using the attack, not just the trainer's orders.
