Seamus had a little bit of trouble with this parenting thing-- his Magikarp that he hatched did not need any kind of attention at all. It was too brainless and not the slightest bit affectionate. In the end, it was kept back at his friend's home, who had given him a discount on taking care of his collection. The little Hoppip, as tame as it was, was still so young and curious. He had to drag it away from eating someone else's ice cream, then had to buy a vanilla one for the Hoppip, only to find out it didn't like the thing. He sighed as the Hoppip snuggled in his lap in the trainer's lounge. The creature was an interesting one, but he didn't feel like 'daddy' material.
"Kindle, what in the world am I going to do with you?" He sighed, petting the little one softly around the ears. It was going to have to toughen up if it wanted to stay with him. So he thought a battle here would be good--- except now he was worried he wouldn't have the heart for it. The Hoppip was only a week old, but he wanted to give him a head start on his training.
<Hm?> Kindle perked up as he heard some Pokémon talking nearby, mentioning something about battling. As he watched the Zigzagoon and Sentret have their exciting chat in cool details, his tail twitched as he glanced at the poster on the wall. Was that where people signed up? Seamus looked at it too, and had an idea. "That works; a battle it is." It had been a while anyways, and soon enough, they had entered one of the battle rooms. Yay!

You could never tell what someone was like based on their appearance, but to those who looked at Merrick and realised just how vicious he was... They were dead right, and often dead if they messed with him. Standing in the shadows, lurking, he simply watched Seamus and narrowed his eyes at the sight of the Hoppip. Such weakness was disgusting by his standards; that Pokémon should be battling – where all Pokémon should be. Those who could not protect themselves would die.
Silently, he stalked over to the other side of the Trainer’s room, picking up a Pokéball from his belt before he tossed it carelessly, and accepted the battle. Did he think that Seamus was weak? No, not weak. The Trainer looked strong, so he didn’t believe that he would be able to defeat him – at least not easily. When the capsule popped open, a Tepig burst from its ranks and simply stood there like her trainer, not moving.
Merrick didn’t speak; he just stood there, waiting for his opponent to do whatever. To be honest he really didn’t give a damn – he was here to train. Perhaps his Pokémon would learn to stop being so weak...

It was obvious Kindle was young, and this would technically count as his first trainer battle. He wasn't asking anyone to go easy on the pink one, but some consideration had to be made. Nothing traumatizing, at the very least. "Welcome, sir. Let us begin." He nodded formally to his foe, who seemed to know what he was doing. When the Tepig was released he naturally had to take out his Pokedex to get an understanding of what he was up against. 'Fire; not a good match up. It may even know a fire move from the start...but let's wait for it to come to us.' He decided, figuring they could try and trap it with Encore somehow. The Hoppip was lucky to be blessed by egg moves and the infamous Mrs.Holly, and he had high hopes after going over the Hoppip's potential moves and evolutions. "Cotton Guard, Kindle." He commanded, curious to see the move in action. The Hoppip never even practiced it, but it came so naturally as thick spores gathered around on his head leaves. So thick that they acted as an armor around his body, giving him a great defense right off of the bat. Kindle grinned with a sleepy expression towards the Tepig, still not sure what to expect in the fight. Epsilon simply stood there as the Hoppip raised its defences, not bothering to try and prevent it from happening. Merrick’s eyes blazed, and he lifted his head, trying to assess just how much of a threat the Hoppip was. However, almost immediately, he narrowed his eyes and nodded to Tepig. Their eyes met for a heartbeat and then Tepig spun around, charging toward the Hoppip.
Used Tackle.

The Hoppip whined from the pain, with his tail lashing out viciously in annoyance. He got on all fours, not sure if he should be crying because it hurt or scared because he could get tackled again. Seamus at least sensed that Kindle could use some emotional support, but he wasn't exactly good at that. He coughed, trying to think of something to say. "It's fine, Kindle." He sounded more tired than anything, and the Hoppip still looked distressed. Well, now that he saw the level disadvantage in front of them, using another Cotton Guard seemed pointless if Kindle would go down in a few turns. Better to get some hits in, right? There was only one offensive move the Hoppip knew though, and it was one that caused damage to the user. It was rather contradictory to some of his move list, but the Hoppip needed it for the time being. "Double Edge." The Hoppip's eyes widened at the move, and he wiggled his rear with ears twitching. There was no bracing himself for this move, because he felt reckless and ready. It was a bold straight forward charge, with a small light line trailing behind him from the speed. Sprawled out on the floor, the Hoppip lay for a moment, whining about the pain that the tackle had inflicted upon his person. Narrowing his eyes, Merrick wondered what kind of a weak Pokémon this was, and his attention strayed slightly to the trainer as he reassured the Grass Type. In Merrick’s eyes, this was a pathetic performance. Truly pathetic. And then the Trainer called out his next attack; Double Edge. So he had given up all pretence for defence, and was focusing on Attack. Fair enough. In that case, so would Merrick. In the middle of the battlefield, Epsilon was preparing to dodge the move, but suddenly... “Take the attack,” he ordered coldly. Tepig dug her feet into the ground and felt the Double Edge almost bounce off of her shoulder. As the Hoppip connected, she would attempt to throw down her opponent and then pin it down. Hoppip were so light that the wind could carry them, so why this Pokémon was trying physical attacks was beyond her. “Take it down,” he murmured, and the Tepig would – if she had pinned the Hoppip down – clamp her maw around the Grass type’s body and attempt to ram it against the wall. If she had not, she would simply run at where ever the Hoppip had managed to escape to. Hit by lower level Double Edge. Tried to pin Hoppip down.If successful: Tepig will bite down onto the Hoppip and use Tackle to ram it into a wall. If not successful: Tepig with charge at where ever Hoppip is next.

He was sure that Merrick saw Hoppip's lower level, and deemed his Tepig able to take a hit for a long term advantage. His loss with Kindle was to be expected though, as it was with a majority of his Pokemon. Yet it was the best way to train them, oddly enough. It was almost poetical, how winning could gain you pride, but losing would gain you a much more memorable experience. Modesty. Pain. Growth. Kindle needed this if he was to survive at all. <Hm?> The Hoppip was still not able to talk, but he seemed confused when the Tepig didn't move away. He softly took a step backwards, not understanding how great the disadvantage was in the match. A light bite to his pink tail had him dragged off at the Tepig's will, and he frantically scrambled to fly away. His body was much too light to fight against the fire type, and got squished between the pig and the wall. Definitely looked as if it hurt, Seamus thought as Kindle slowly fell to the ground with a dumbfounded and pained expression. It was too overwhelming for him, and he didn't even feel like making the effort was worth it at this point. Yet Seamus had to keep pushing him; giving up was useless. "Double Edge again." If the recoil didn't know him out, then the Tepig's next attack would. Kindle gulped, trembling as he stared up at the feisty swine with his tail wrapped around his body. He had to attack? Again? He gulped before charging once more with a weak Double Edge at his foe, just trying to please his trainer. Epsilon – the Tepig – didn’t need instructions to know what Merrick wanted her to do. He would give an order, and that would we what goes until he changed it next. Blinking, she took the Double Edge once more and wagged her tail back and forth before charging at the Hoppip once more. While she attacked, Merrick looked up toward the Trainer that was his opponent and blinked slowly, examining his appearance and taking in anything that would be of use. This Battle was taking a long time, wasn’t it? Perhaps if they knocked up the number of Pokémon, it would go faster...
“Choose a second Pokémon,” Merrick said in a voice devoid of all emotion. “Let us make this a Double Battle.” Of course, if the Trainer refused, then Merrick would send out another Pokémon anyway. Who knows, perhaps he’d attack the Trainer instead and steal his Pokémon given the chance. From the first impression, it sure as hell didn’t seem like this guy was too powerful. But he could be wrong. He’d learned over the years never to judge the book by it’s cover.
Reaching for his chain belt, the cold man released a second Pokémon – a Yamask onto the field, and it sunk through the floor without a word, just hiding. Faith – the Yamask – liked to assess her opponent before making the first strike.

Hoppip was having too much trouble, and suddenly this punk of a man decided to throw out another Pokemon. At least he told him it was a double battle, but still. Was being hasty so necessary? He held out the Pokeball of his second weakest, wondering if it would be too much for the Tepig and Yamask-- a species which he had heard about actually. Mythology was fascinating; but it still belonged in the fiction section. "Cobalt, be prepared." Likewise, this guy probably was underestimating him, and it was foolish to underestimate his sent out Yamask. That creature needed plenty of levels to evolve, and it had the potential to cause some harm to his Steelix. The Steelix emerged with a sudden crash onto the ground, just narrowly avoiding crushing Kindle in the process. <Ah, sorry dear.> She moved her tail out of the way, examining the situation with understanding. Another battle, was it? She was ready, but she could tell the newbie wasn't. The Tail Whip and Tackle combination was enough of a distraction to take out Kindle, which meant that there was one Pokemon versus two. He'd have to fix that. "Kindle, return to me." Seamus held out the Hoppip's Pokeball, seeing that he was too weak to float back to him. The beam of light captured and returned the grass type to safety, and he suddenly retaliated with his trusty Magnemite; Neon. "Light Screen." He commanded at once, and Neon buzzed in rhythm with her trainer's voice. Her magnets spun around as a soft screen formed around her and Cobalt, helping their special defenses. "Screech and Rock Throw, on the Tepig." He pushed his glasses up his nose, almost feeling like this was a game of checkers. The Steelix had a regretful smile, but she cried out a boastful Screech at the Tepig, before lobbing a rock at it. [/div] { Kindle } lvl 1, Male Hit! As soon as the Steelix was sent out, Merrick knew that this was a battle that he could not win, and if he didn’t think there was anything to get out of it, he would have left then and there. But his Pokémon needed to get experience in battling; he would have wasted his time if he had not continued, so the man stayed, watching as Tepig knocked out the Hoppip with one more move, and then returned to his side like a loyal dog. In response, the man sent out a Magnemite, who immediately attempted to raise its defences, and from below, the Yamask saw this and floated up just in front of Seamus, tilting her head to get a better look at his face.
But without doing anything, she turned and floated toward the Magnemite, trying to startle it into flinching. Just a short distance away, Tepig had been hit by both attacks, and was instantly rendered unconscious. Merrick knew that she had done as much as she could, and he simply returned her to her ball and sent out his next Pokémon – a Shadow Croagunk. He knew that Kai would have no experience in battling with him. Perhaps fainting would give him a wake up call...

He let out a 'hmth', looking the other way to try and make it leave. He wanted nothing to do with someone else's Pokemon, as it would only be annoying. The Tepig was easily taken out with his Steelix's raw power, and then the Yamask tried to frighten poor Neon. Poor Neon indeed, if you thought she had much of a soul. She felt a touch against her body and shuddered from the twitch of pain, but she was hardly injured. Instead her magnets began to charge with electricity, annoyed at the contact. Sadly for their opponents, they had missed the flinch hax this time around. "Ice Fang and Thunderbolt." He ordered, wanting to put a quick end to it. None of his Pokemon seemed to be learning from the experience, so it was best to just make it end faster. Cobalt's fangs glistened with ice as she lunged at the Chimecho, planning to crush it with her might. Neon's electricity built up, before sending a good electric shock at the Yamask. "You again! I remember you! You gave me the heavy ball when I first started out!" Sam said as he spotted the trainer known as Seamus waiting for a challenger. It had been so long since he seen this person, but he was excited to see him now. He wanted to show him what he learned since being in his journey. He wanted to show him the power he had gained and the pokemons he had learned to use and master. He felt like he was a much better trainer since he first started, and he was going to prove it right now to this trainer. "Ready to battle? Lets do this!" He said to Seamus. He was ready for anything... "So how many pokemon you want between us?" He asked. He had a few that he would surely use, but if it would be a long match he had others he didn't mind improving... ::Ledian:: X ::Gliscor:: Breeding Post 15/21

This place was convenient for things like speed training after all, but Kindle still had some wounds that were evident with some band-aids covering his small body. He floated with a dejected look next to Seamus, clearly crushed after his first loss ever. He didn't understand it, but he got hurt and Seamus wasn't smiling. It made him sad, it was weird, and he was scared to cry with people around. Instead of comforting him much, Seamus patting Kindle on the head and led them into the next battle room, where he was greeted by a familiar blonde. He was about to ask where he had seen him before, but Sam quickly answered it. "Ah, that's right. I never got your name." He remembered giving away the Heavy Ball, but he was curious to see how much things had changed since their last battle over the months. Seamus hadn't exactly been training, and Kindle would have to get beaten up a lot if he was to keep up with the route training. There was no way he was going back to route 1. No way. "Good to see a familiar face. I was thinking a quick double battle, just two versus two. If we have the time, maybe we can use more Pokemon." He explained very formally, not wanting to get too personal with the kid. But Sam's energy was contagious, and he found himself resisting a smile. "For now, Kindle and Cobalt." He sent out his Steelix, who appeared with a gay (happy) grin as she appeared. She nodded happily at Sam, remembering him from an earlier friendly battle, then at Kindle. <Sweetie don't look so crushed. It was that same Steelix that Sam had seen before, the Pokémon that single handedly wiped out his entire team... He was ready for it this time around, or at least he hoped he was. He sent out his two Pokémon in this two on two and prepared himself for an all out battle. "By the way my name is Sam. What was your name?" He asked the mysterious trainer who gave him something which was incredibly nice, but also wiped out his team which wasn't as generous. The first Pokémon to hit the field was Blaze, his Magby who was ready to take on the impending challenge... His second Pokémon was his Snorlax, Tiberius. When Tiberius hit the field though, as always he quickly went up to the pair to greet them. >Hello! My name is Tiberius. It is nice to meet you two. How are you toda-< He stopped as a large boom occurred... The boom sent Blaze flying back after the attack and he was incredibly confused by the event and very frustrated at the Snorlax. >Watch what you are doing jerk!< He said. Sam was shocked once again... "What... what... what... what... what just happened?" He asked. This was the second time Tiberius simply blew up for no reason. What was the deal with the Snorlax? It seemed to have been a mistake buying it as it probably wasn't breeded very well... Seeing how it was so prone to... 'BOOMING' (Weakening) Summary: Hit by Self-Destruct. She extended her tail for him to shake, when suddenly this big popping sound rang in her ears and body. The Snorlax had caused some kind of explosion then and there, and she was actually blown a little backwards by it. She shook her head in shock, trying to get the bright light out of her eyes while Kindle let out another holler of pain as he collided into the wall. As he slid down, his eyes were completely rolled over. Unconscious already? Figures. "Way to make a first move." Seamus grunted, also displeased that the attack had come out of nowhere. The Magby hadn't made any effort to attack, so he wondered if it was just the fault of the dysfunctional Snorlax. Well, he was going to be fair and make a single move as well. "And we have the time to send out another Pokemon." He added, not seeing suicide as a part of the battle plan. It was probably better to remember that move from now on, especially since he had a Pokemon with it. "Neon, Light Screen." This would be fair, right? The move was defensive, and it would let Sam send out another Pokemon. Basically. The Magnemite appeared next to Cobalt with a happy chattering sound, comfortable battling with her fellow steel type. Her magnets stretched out and a thin screen was formed around her and the steel snake. It would filter some of those nasty special moves that they were so terrible against, at least. "I am so... so... so... so sorry! You see I bought the Snorlax recently from a shop and it was on sale. Now I see why it was on sale..." Sam said. He felt so bad for doing that as he had no intention of making the first move, but here his Pokémon was... blowing up as usual. "I will really have to sit and work with the Snorlax. He is very intelligent as he can understand human speech, but I guess there is something wrong with him because this isn't the first time he's done that..." Sam said. Sam chose his second Pokémon very wisely. It wasn't one of his best, but it was one he'd love to get better with. Syllina hit the field and she quickly looked around and saw a very big and scary Steelix and a Magnemite also. She could tell by the way they took themselves that they weren't her type but the trainer that controlled them did appeal to her. >Hey sexy!< She winked at Seamus. And then Sam decided it was time to battle. "Okay seeing how you only used one more, I'll only use one and we can start our battle after this... Officially. Again, sorry about before." He said. And with that Blaze hit the field after being confused with the self-destruct and he made his first move. "Blaze, Fire Spin on the Steelix... Lets trap that large beast!" He said. What happened, happened. This was a rather eccentric trainer as well, and he wished he had been a bit more prepared for such a loud sound. Still, this gave him the chance to practice a double battle with Cobalt and Neon, just to see if they were compatible battling with each other. So far the only move he couldn't use was Mud Sport, which would be completely silly on his part and there was no way he would order the command to use it. Basically there was a physical attacker and a special attacker, and he wanted to make sure it worked out somehow. Sam sent out another Pokemon, which gave him this weird wink. He scowled in response, not in the mood to be teased again. <Him? Sexy?> Cobalt had to pause for a second, looking at the Smeargle then at Seamus, then back at the Smeargle. <He's old enough to be your great grandfather, dear.> She informed, a bit disturbed. Heck, he could even be older than her own father for all she knew. The Fire Spin came and she should've been prepared for it, but she didn't dodge. Either way, she was rather big and it was hard to move out of the way. The fire burned weakly, and the Light Screen dulled it even more, but because of her weakness it did normal damage instead of doubling it. At least it wasn't a strong move in the first place. "Don't be intimidated. Thunderwave the Magby, and Cobalt...go ahead with a Screech and Rage after it." He had to pause, because she had way too many attacks for him to remember at the top of his head. Neon nodded, glad to be of use as she sent a weak jolt of electricity to keep the Magby in place for Cobalt's next strikes. The Steelix let out a loud but ear hurting screech at the Magby, before going into a fit of rage and slammed her tail at the Magby, though a bit weakly because her rage hadn't yet grown. "Thunderbolt the Smeargle." He paused to open his Pokedex, making sure he got the name right. As far as he knew, it was a normal type. Normal types had trouble against steel types unless they had TMs. Neon complied without too much hesitation, and with the electricity built, she shot it at the Smeargle. Not much of a reaction out of this one. "Nice to see it finally getting started. Lets do this!" Sam said as he saw his attack hit and instantly noticed a retaliation from the enemies. The Thunderwave struck Blaze and he found himself slowed down immensely from the attack as he was struck by a very loud screeching sound before a weak rage attack. "That's no problem Blaze! You can do it!" He said. His bigger worry was his Smeargle who was quickly struck with a Thunderbolt by the Magnemite. Now that attack hurt. But she quickly smiled at Seamus again and gave him another wink. >You don't need to send any electricity to me. Together we will make sparks, no need for anything else< She said. Sam really wished he could understand Syllina... "Alright now it's our turn. Smokescreen! Lets cover up our side." Sam said and Blaze quickly sent a sticky smog at the Steelix in an attempt to lower her vision. "Now another Fire Spin. This time on the Magnemite" Sam wanted to trap the foes, that way they would be slowed down and it would give Blaze a little bit of time to work on his paralysis. "Okay Syllina. That attack wasn't very nice. Use Disable on the Magnemite and give that Steelix an Ice Beam!" He said. Quickly Syllina drew a big X and sent it at the Magnemite and to take away the Thunder Bolt, while she aimed a solid beam of ice at the Steelix in an attempt to freeze her and also weaken her. "Alright, now that is more like it!" Sam said. (Weakening) (-2 defense) (PARALYZED) Summary: Hit by Thunderwave, Screech, and Rage. Used Smokescreen on Steelix. The light screen glowed faintly around her, somewhat protecting her from the heat that endlessly surrounded her. She shifted her head back and forth from the rage, not entirely aware that she was losing herself in the attack. When the Ice Beam struck her, the spikes on her tail began to grow in a protective response. She hissed in protest, not having any of that nonsense even if the Ice Beam was cut in half with Neon's help. She let out a roar as she charged towards the painter Pokemon next, her rage building with each strike made against her. The Fire Spin wasn't adding to it at least, which probably would've really sucked for Sam right there. The Smokescreen clouded her vision, but only slightly. She still had a general idea of where to go, and with her size, she wasn't too worried about missing with an accurate attack. Neon was having more trouble, which Seamus noted when a giant red X was slapped right on her. He had to Pokedex the move to make sure he understood exactly what was going on. "Thunderbolt is gone, am I right?" He asked her, to which she buzzed in a correct response. She simply felt like she was incapable of using the move, sadly enough. Then another Fire Spin came at her, filtered by the Light Screen at least, but still very persistent and annoying. "You have interesting characters." He commented, still bothered at the Smeargle's behavior. "Neon, use Supersonic and Sonicboom on that Magby." It was a double sonic attack, basically. The Magnemite could at least pull that off, sending confusion inducing sounds at the fire type, before pulling off a highly condensed sound wave that cut through the air entirely. It was visible, and ready to strike without too much of a warning. Hopefully the fire type was up for it.
