Susumu was fed up with how this was going, especially with how Nate was treating him now. Was it because of trainers like this that TD stole Pokemon from others? He could see why, if they were going around attacking humans without a second thought, then getting away with it. It was frustrating to look at, and it kind of disgusted him as a human being. He held Leech in his arms as he scooped into his bag his fill of shards, maybe taking some of Nate's as well to let off a little passive aggressive steam as he let out a determined snort, ready to ditch him as soon as he could. There were enough shards to take out of here as a reminder; maybe buy something really good with them, who knows. Shame it ended up this way, on such a bitter note. "And I thought only girls had PMS." He scowled bitterly, trying to make sense of Nate's unreasonable personality. He didn't seem very long-tempered, quite the opposite really, short tempered seemed more fitting. He wasn't even hearing him out, so he didn't seem like the listening type either.
He seemed just plain irritating though, if he was going to be that way with him. What was with people like this? Though he had to admit, Nathan was just a bit younger than him most likely. He couldn't be too much older, so maybe there were maturity problems or something lurking around, like they did in most people his age. Susumu simply snorted, figuring that it was because Nate was new at the Pokemon Trainer thing. Hardly any time to grow up and fit into it, he supposed.
"Adios, I guess." He was finally finished packing everything into his bag, with his digging tools loosely gripped in his hand as he struggled to hold the Pansage close to his chest while hurrying out of the tunnel. There was no way that he wanted to run into Nate when he was in this irritated and frustrated mood now, since it would only make the situation worse. Adios, mother fucker.

Nate tried calming himself down as he felt the blood quickly rushing through his body. Susumu was as judgmental as Nate was which made it an even tougher situation. Nate after a while had calmed down and heard Susumu make a mean joke about him. Whatever, like Nate cared. He felt sorry for the guy and the verbal onslaught he had just given him, but it was genuinely his Pansage's fault for attacking Abra. Nate knew his personality had changed just from that instance, and he didn't like how he had acted. He looked once more at Susumu awkwardly holding his gear and said, "Sorry for that verbal onslaught just then. I just reacted so different to my pokemon being attacked out of no-where from your direction."Nate held his gear and searched the ground for any ground lying shards left that weren't broken. He found a few and collected them as he watched Susumu run away from the cave. Nate then started walking towards the exit as he wondered what he was going to do with his shards this time around. So this was the Shasta Mines? To Karen it looked nothing more than a giant network of caverns, not what she imagined mines to look like. She always thought of having to repel down dangerous cliff faces or riding down a rickety elevator to get inside. Instead, she just walked right in with her mining equipment buried deep within her already crammed backpack. Though it wasn't like she was going to complain or anything. Even if the prospecting trainers had to go the dangerous route, Karen wouldn't think much of it. She came equipped with her trusty Onix, Keifer. He was made for life underground making him the perfect choice out of her less-than-plentiful collection of pokemon. "Lead the way Keif," she spoke, opting for the rock pokemon to pick their spot. He snaked around for a good few minutes, peeping in a few tunnels only to turn back in an awkward manner and unsatisfied. <This one is good, friend,> he rumbled to Karen whom he had a habit of addressing simply as 'friend'. His trainer shrugged and followed the beast inside the cavernous tunnel. She could only guess the reason why he chose this one over the others; it was the only one he could fit comfortably into of course, and with space to move around! She let her backpack fall to the ground with a heavy thud and grabbed one of the shovel things given to her by the mines' owner. Within seconds she was digging away at the floor while Keifer was doing what he did best-- bashing his thick head against the rocks. At least he was born for this and could make up for his trainer's ignorance. Nate was back at Shasta Ruins again. This time it had been a bit more then three weeks since he was last in the ruins with Susumu. He still looked back at that day and wondered how everything good turned into everything bad. Either way he was back, and this time whatever happened. He wasn't partnering with Susumu again. He collected the gear off the guy out the front of the ruins as he set-off into get some more shards. Nate walked through the cave. No Susumu in-sight, maybe the guy had stayed away from Shasta Ruins since their last trip. Nate didn't know but he spotted an Onix in the cave as he walked through with all his mining gear. He walked closer and closer until he recognized a girl, she had brown hair that was tied back in a ponytail, brown eyes and a tad bit of make-up on. Nate wondered if she would be his mining partner as he said, "*cough* Do you mind if I be your Mining Partner?"Nate reached for a pokeball off the side of his over-sized bag as he felt Tympole's ball, then Abra's then a third one. He grasped onto the third one as he pointed the pokeball to a bit of open space in the cavern as he released the pokemon enclosed within the ball. Out of it formed a bat like creature. As the red shining light faded away more was visible to Nate. He had released his newly aquired Gligar from it's pokeball. Instantly the Gligar turned around to see Nate as it glided it's way over to Nate and wrapped its wings around his body as if to give a hug. Nate was going to have to get used to his new Gligar hugging him. Nate had bought Gligar from a guy known as Zachariah in his latest visit to Harris' Mega-mall. The pokemon had cost him a hefty amount of PD. 20,000 to be exact. Nate believed Gligar was going to be worth every PD he spent. Gligar released his hugging grip off of Nate as he looked at Nate as if waiting to be either tended to or commanded to do something. Nate looked at his eager Gligar and said, "Ok Gligar, Your first job is to use Quick Attack on the wall over there."Nate pointed to the wall he wanted his Gligar to use it's move on as he watched the eager little pokemon as it started to quickly glide through the air towards the wall as a white trail of blitzing speed followed him. The purple bat like pokemon was moving very fast and Nate struggled to keep up with Gligar as he watched the purple bat pokemon then collide with the wall, shaking it and making the weaker parts fall off the wall. Nate had observed the Gligar and then said, "Gligar, I'm going to name you Glide."Nate believed the name suited his new Gligar as he carefully placed his mining tools on the ground and put Gligar's pokeball back onto the side of his backpack. He then picked up the pickaxe and started to mine into the wall. He had forgotten there was still a girl and an Onix mining next to them. Nate hadn't got an answer yet from her and didn't want to make a bad first impression, but from the looks of it. He may have already done that. Karen was barely making a dent in her selected area. Her measly shovel scratched away at the hard soil leaving little trench marks. On the other hand, Keifer had cleared a good sized hole in the wall. It was nearly big enough to fit Karen's head and shoulders inside though it would be a tight fit. With a feeling of self-disappointment, Karen decided to try and up her game. This time she put more force behind her scraping. Instead of the shovel going in deeper and throwing up chunks of rock, it merely scraped across the rock underneath causing a loud screeching sound similar to that of nails on blackboard. The Onix chuckled at his trainer's attempts as she hastily covered her ears. <Not everyone can dig well their first time,> Keifer said, sharing the same bit of knowledge his father had said to him when he hatched. Back then he had to get the hang of bursting through tons of rock just to travel around. It didn't take him long to catch on yet he was a Pokémon built for this. Humans were a different story. They, well some, could pick up on the skills Pokémon have mastered yet still found the need to rely on them when it got too difficult. Such a silly species they were. Out of the corner of her eye, Karen noticed the movement of purple. Purple? She couldn't recall seeing anything purple on her way in let alone anything that wasn't brown, black, or gray. Perplexed and a bit curious, she tilted her head only to find herself staring down another trainer and his Gligar. She had been so stunned by the harsh ringing sounds in her ears to catch what he had said but it didn't matter as she blurted out shortly after noticing her new company, "Hey! Let's be partners! It'll be much safer and the more the merrier!" She nearly screamed it at Nate but she was still suffering the side effects of such a loud noise at close range that everything seemed muted. "Do you have your own shovel? I don't mind sharing mine," she said, offering her shovel in an outstretched arm. Keifer couldn't care less about Nate but, rather, took it upon himself to judge the Gligar now newly named "Glide". It seemed much stronger than he was. The Onix would most likely lose in a fight against it though that didn't matter much. The pain induced would be good enough to take a such a loss. Keifer was more interested in how much damage Glide did to the surrounding rock wall. It was much more than what he had done and this was a bloody flying type! It shouldn't be able to dig better than an Onix! What an outrage! Keifer felt a bit offended by this and bulked up, strengthening his body to instill more damage than normal. Afterwards he brought his whole body into attacking the wall. He made sure his horn was securely lodged within the small hole he made before. It was sort of a drilling-like performance but that didn't change the fact that he was still a very young, and very weak, Pokémon. Karen, on the other hand, was impressed by her pokemon's show of strength. "Pump the peddles there, you're making me look bad!" she joked. Nate had intruded the brown haired girls space hoping that she would allow him to be her mining partner. Her response was more then surprising for Nate, she seemed to be a very happy type of girl. Hopefully this experience in Shasta Ruins would be better then his last. As the girl asked whether Nate had a shovel, he then placed his pickaxe on the ground and picked up his shovel and said to the girl, "Thanks, It's nice to meet you. My name's Nate. What might yours be?"Nate took a breath and then followed up by saying, "Thanks for the offer, but I already have a shovel. By the way, that's a cool Onix you have there."Maybe getting on the good side of this girl was the better approach for Nate. He then started to shovel into the wall to feel the rock hard surface push against him. Nate didn't want to show he was weak as his masculinity started pumping through his body as he shoveled into the hard wall to try and impress the girl and show he was tough. Nate's mind was half on mining and then on his new mining partner. Gligar hadn't been commanded a move by Nate, but looked over to the Onix with a sinister grin on his face. He could see the Onix was trying to one-up him. It was a shame that it was alot weaker than Gligar, and in competitive nature he was obviously going to show-up the Onix with a few tricks of his own. Gligar took his attention away from Onix as he started to show his moves. Gligar begun to use Harden as he bulked up his body with more strength and defense. Now he was almost even with Onix, but he wasn't going to stop their. Gligar started to use Quick Attack without it's trainers orders as it flew towards the wall with blitzing speed and a white trail following the bat pokemon. Gligar then tried one-upping Onix as he started to spin while he was using Quick Attack. Successfully he accomplished it as he bashed into the wall creating a much larger hole the Onix's. It was a great feeling for Gligar, and gave him something to do. Nate noticed what his Gligar was doing and smirked as he went back to mining. "Oh! It's nice to meet you too, Nate!" Karen replied while she lifted herself up off the ground. "My name is Karen," she said, "and this is Keifer" She walked up and patted the beast on his side perhaps a bit too hard. Having the fact that he was basically a giant, breathing snake made of rock slip past her mind, Karen found her hand to sting sharply. She yanked her hand back and cringed at the pain, mouthing a few words to herself. "Say hello to our new buddies Keifer," Karen said to him through gritted teeth. Normally he would have happily obliged but as he motioned to pull his head from the hole, he felt something was wrong. Instead of the pressure releasing the rock seemed to hold him in place, almost like it was tugging him back. He squirmed his body around in a second attempt but to no avail. "Um, Keif?" Karen questioned. She wasn't sure what was going on and hoped that he would at least clue her in. Sadly he was far too concerned with his predicament to even give her a passing glance. Keifer grunted as he hardened his body once more and brought the full force of his body against the rocks. It didn't do much given his lack of momentum. The only good it did was to loosen up his horn just enough for him to wriggle his way into a more comfortable position. <A little help please?> he called out. He didn't know if Nate could understand what he was saying but at least Karen and Glide would get the memo. He didn't want to admit that he was stuck, especially to the Gligar but what else could he do? It was near impossible to play it off as anything but being lodged deep within the wall. What a wonderful way to show his of his skills to these new acquaintances. Karen's heart sank as she realized what was wrong. She could only mutter a small oh no. How was she supposed to get him free? All she had was a tiny shovel that wasn't good for anything but building sandcastles. The pick-axe would be more suited for such a task but using it so close to Keifer's head was out of the question. "It's okay, we'll get you out," she said with a quivering voice. Grabbing the shovel, she pulled herself up into the hole though only her torso could fit. Even then it was a tight squeeze but she went ahead and tried to chip away at the rock to the best of her ability. Her efforts were futile, however, as it was near impossible for her to get any force behind her hits in such a small area. "It's too small of a hole for me," she said as she pushed herself out. Karen felt defeated at this point. "Do you have any ideas?" she asked Nate. As long as Keifer could be free without harm, she was willing to try anything. Nate felt accepted and knew he had made a new friend, who was a girl named Karen. Karen owned an Onix known as Keifer who now seemed to be stuck in the wall because of his last tackle attack. Nate thought Onix was used to this type of job, even Gligar wasn't going as bad as him. Nate gave the giant rock snake some leeway after hearing Karen ask for some help. Nate knew if he were to help out this newly met friend, it may make their bond stronger. Nate looked at his Gligar as the bat pokemon stopped using Quick Attack on the wall as he then said, "Ok Gligar, let's help Karen and Keifer out by using Quick Attack on the wall surrounding the hole where Keifer is stuck"Nate knew Gligar was most likely going to be able to accomplish it by himself without the help of humans as he started to glide through the air at blistering speed with a white trail following him. Gligar aimed for different parts of the wall as it used Quick Attack a few times, creating large holes in the wall surrounding the hole where Keifer was trapped. Hopefully it would free the giant rock snake as Nate watched the whole experience. Karen stood back a ways from where the action took place. With all the big chunks of rock being hurled about, the rescue attempt was far more dangerous than it seemed. A few smaller rocks rained down at her feet forcing her to retreat even farther towards the mouth of the tunnel. She didn't want to stand by and let someone else free Keifer. It made her feel like a pathetic excuse for a trainer and more useless than ever. Her eyes were locked on Glide, following each blow to the wall. "Please let this work," she pleaded to the empty air around her. Though the attack took but only a few moments, Keifer grew gradually distressed. Why isn't he out yet? His whole body twisted in turbulent circles as he tried to pry his head out but this only made it worse. Now, instead of being stuck head on, his head was forcefully cocked to the side. There was still hope, however, but it would have to be up to him to free himself. The rock around him had been bashed away to the point where a nicely aimed tackle could easily break through-- it was only a matter of landing a successful attack in this position. "Come on Keifer, you can do it!" Karen's voice cut through the silence. In all honesty Karen had no clue if he had enough strength to do it himself but it never hurt to give a little confidence. The Onix grunted and harden his body before putting all his weight into straightening his head. This time he snaked his body up and used the wall as support to pushed himself to the other side, unlocking his horn from the hole. Now that that was out of the way, Keifer pulled his head back in a thrashing manner caused the weakened bits of rock still holding his head in to fly out. He let out a exasperated sigh, curling his tail around his body. He was finally free after what seemed like hours. Karen rushed up to her Pokémon and threw her arms around him, or at least tried to. "Thank Arceus you're okay!" she cried out. Seeing her Pokémon in such a helpless state was something she never wanted to see again. She then turned toward Nate and Glide with a relieved expression. "Thank you both! Really, thank you! I don't know what I can do to return the favor but I'll think of something," she said. She truly was thankful for them being here. If it was just her, there would be no hope for freedom. Free. Keifer was free. The giant rock snake hadn't been in the hole trapped for long, but thanks to Glide's help Onix was able to escape. Glide quickly flew back from attacking the wall as he headed straight towards Nate and wrapped his wings around his male companion. Glide must have been so happy to help out the Onix that it had to get rid of some of it's happiness on Nate. Most people would get freaked out if a Gligar hugged them, but Nate didn't mind. Karen was thanking Nate and saying she had to re-pay him. Nate didn't want a favor returned anytime soon. Maybe if they met-up again in the future when he needed a favor done he capture the opportunity. Nate had noticed something Karen seemed to have a habit of doing. Talking to her Onix. Did she have the ability to talk to pokemon. So far Nate was only able to talk to his Abra Houdini because of her being a psychic pokemon and able to help him out. Nate thought maybe bonding with his pokemon more would help grow a better relationship with them. Nate watched as Glide let go of his hug and looked at Nate as if to say he wanted to be commanded to use a move. Gligar was quite the eager type of pokemon, not turning down any challenges it was given or commands. Glide looked over at Keifer the Onix and thought about if they could be friends. Nate looked at Karen and said, "Ah it was nothing. You won't need to worry about a favor, that one was for free."Nate stopped talking to Karen and then directed his attention to his eager Gligar looked to be talking to Keifer, "Your free, that's good to see. Hope your alright."Nate seemingly could understand a little bit of what Glide was saying. Maybe talking to Abra had been paying off and helping him understand more of Pokemon talk. Nate looked at the wall as he thought of what to do next. Soon enough he had an idea as he said to Gligar, "Good job Gligar on helping free Keifer. Now let's go back to work, Use Harden then Poison Sting on the wall."Gligar looked a bit stunned after hearing the words Poison Sting. That move wouldn't do anything against the wall is all the purple bat pokemon could think. Putting it aside, Gligar started to build up energy in it's body as it's purple body started to shine with a coat of silver for a few seconds. Gligar then stopped the energy as the silver disappeared. Harden had been successfully used to raise his defense and toughen him up in-case he had to use Quick Attack later on. Glide then pointed his large stinger at the end of his tail at the wall. His tail started to turn from it's normal purple color to a glowing white color. Then after a little while of conserving as much strength into the attack, Glide released multiple white needles from the glowing white stinger as they flew to multiple spots in the wall. The white needles flew quickly at the wall as they inserted themselves inside and started to leak their poison into the walls. Gligar didn't know why Nate wanted him to do that, but as he watched his trainer hit his pickaxe into the wall where the white needles had oozed out their poison he saw why. Nate had made Glide use Poison Sting to ooze poison over different spots on the wall to weaken the wall and make it easier to dig through. Nate's plan had worked as he hacked into the now weak parts of the wall not feeling much pressure at all.
