Nate arrived at the front of a very large cavern known as Shasta Ruins. He was now talking to a bulky man with a distracting beard who had given him gear to excavate inside the ruins. Nate then heard him say he needed a partner to start excavating. Nate decided to go inside without listening to anymore baffle from the guy as he ventured into the cavern.
Nate could see walls with gems and shards inside them and could happily excavate, but he decided maybe it was best to wait for his unknown partner. Maybe his partner was still coming or was already within the cave. Just for now Nate was going to wait with a pickaxe in his hand knowing if something went wrong, there was no one around... Only Nate and his Tympole.

Susumu didn't really have any plans for looking for a partner online, or asking someone he knew. He was sure that the people he actually liked and knew were busy, so he wasn't going to bother asking them. Instead, he decided to bring down a Pansage that he caught in the Proxim Gardens after giving him a very deep and thorough bath. The Pansage was thrilled that Susumu was paying attention to him like this, even if he wasn't actually on the team. It meant something to him, that this was a trainer that liked being involved with a variety of Pokemon. Of course, why he would appreciate other disgusting Pokemon besides him brought up many bitter thoughts, but he was ok with it. After losing to the prime example of his loathing bitterness for other Pokemon, he had to be a little sarcastic whenever Susumu chose that Trubbish over him.
<Working in a shard mine, going down down down~> The Pansage sang with a whistle around his trainer's neck, wearing a small hat with a flashlight on it as the pair went further down into the tunnels. It was dark, but both had matching hats to help provide a source of light for when they were digging. It was cold though, cold and dry. The dust that flew around when other trainers kept digging irritated Susumu's nose as he walked past them, resisting the urge to sneeze.
<Oh, he looks nice. His hair reminds me of myself.> The Pansage commented with a casual glance over at Nate, not caring much for the Tympole as he disregarded the Pokemon with a snobby look in the other direction. Susumu took notice of the Pansage's point and grinned at the guy; it had been a while since he talked to someone that was actually male, so why not? "Hey, mind if I dig with you?" He asked casually, hand holding the pick ax to show that he meant business. Whether Nate wanted it or not though, he was doing to dig somewhere near the guy anyways. The Pansage hopped off of his trainer's shoulder with a graceful landing, looking at the wall with a few tentative scratches. Why did humans participate in such a feat? Was it entertaining?

Nate stood inside the cavern, waiting. That was until he saw someone or something. It was a guy, one that looked a bit older then himself and had lush blond hair. He also had a Pansage with him. This might just be Nate's partner, he looked pretty general to be exact. Nothing extravagant about him, but Nate thought he may as well get to know the guy and see what type of person he is. The guy asked him whether he could dig with him, Nate had no problem with that as he said, "Yeah sure you can dig with me. I'm Nate Packerman from the Johto region. This is my Tympole in my arms. You two might be?"Nate looked at the guy before he raised the pick axe above his head and smashed it straight into the wall. Shards fell out of the space where Nate had hit, but not many. It was a start as Nate lowered Tympole out of his arms as the little water type bounced it's way over to the shards and started to pile and collect them up with it's mouth. Tympole already had the general gist of it. Nate still awaited the guy's answer about himself and his pokemon. The green headed male turned around right away with a very awkward digging style that was quite a thing to watch. How was he holding that pick axe correctly while holding a Tympole in his arms? How weird. He raised an eye brow at the man but didn't comment on it, instead caring more about the introduction. What a formal one too, it must've been his style though. "Just call me Shamu, not whale boy, and we'll be friends." He said with a chuckle, knowing how many people called him 'Whale Boy' just to pick fun at his nickname. It was ridiculous, now why would they have to do that? The Tympole looked helpful as it picked up shards, but a lot of them looked broken and useless.
It would take a while to reach anything that could be of use to that hiker guy, which was why he was going to take his time digging. He had a goal in mind, and he was all set. "Leech, weaken the wall with your Leech Seed." He glanced down at the Pansage, who held a paw up to his mouth to hide another yawn. His tail swished back and forth as he stared at the boring, rocky wall with decreasing interest. Why was he doing this again? He reached into his head bush to pull out special seeds, then inserted them into the wall. Soon, the dirt started to crumble down as the vines started to sprout and dig into the wall, loosening the soil. Now that was one way to work.
"Doesn't look ready yet, just give it a few seconds." Susumu crouched down to get a better look at the parasitic seeds, noticing that they'd need a little more time to bide and dig into the wall. The plan was to use the vines to dig in real deep to shift the soil and rock around, making it easier to dig into with his pick ax. Less physical work for him, since last time with that Lillian girl had been a little too steamy and exhausting.

Nate stopped hacking at the wall for a moment as he looked at the shards he had collected, a few were fine and the rest were broken and shattered. Nate now knew after looking at them that he had to be more careful. Nate looked over to the guy known as Shamu, he was using a pokemon's move onto the wall to weaken it. That was a smart idea, smart enough that Nate believed he should try the same thing, he then said to Shamu, "Ok Shamu. Nice to meet you. After myself observing your mining style, I might learn a thing or two today."Nate smirked as he looked down at his Tympole who had happily piled up the shards that weren't shattered or broken. Nate reached down and picked them up and put them into a case that he had been given to put them in. He then put the case away as he held the pickaxe in one hand while looking down at Tympole, maybe getting Tympole to use it's move's to help make the mining easier would help. Nate then said to Tympole as he had an idea planned out, "Tympole, Use Bubble on the wall to make the surface moist."Tympole quickly understood it's commands as it raised it's head towards the roof, it then thrusted it's head down pointing towards the wall as it opened it's mouth and released bubbles flying at the wall. The bubbles were spread out everywhere now in the cavern and would make the wall moist. Nate was happy with Tympole as the little water Pokémon looked up to Nate for praise, he then said to his pokemon, "Great job Tympole, Now use Bubble again please."Tympole's mouth had a smile on it as it went for the same routine as last time. As Tympole shot the bubbles out of it's mouth after raising it's head to the roof and thrusting it down in a swoop action. The wall was getting alot more moist and the area was starting to get a little wet underfoot, at least Tympole would be in familiar ground. Nate then lightly raised his pickaxe and started digging gently into the moist wall as he dug through layers with ease. Although, he didn't find many shards in the wall as before, but it was easier to hack into the wall this time. The guy he was with was a very serious talking kind of guy, and it felt a little weird to listen to after he told him to call him by his nickname. Didn't that mean that it was safe to automatically assume to be informal with each other? Eh, it wasn't such a bad thing. Susumu didn't see a point in acting as if they were at the office though, and started to pick at the wall with his ax to test it out. The rock slipped easily out as the vines continued to flourish in the walls. The Pansage hopped back to avoid the raining earth, looking surprised out of his mind as he watched his trainer work in such a fashion. <It's easier to break than I thought.> He commented in fascination, admiring the ability of humans to work to find new and inventive solutions. It was one of the reasons why he liked them so.
Speaking of which, he really liked Nate's hair. The Pansage took a couple of steps closer to him to watch what he was making his Tympole do. He didn't care so much for the Tympole since it was simply a mindless slave being told what to do, but it was the trainer that looked cool and flashy, executing plans and ideas that came to life. "Whoa, that's a lot of bubbles." Susumu laughed as some popped right in his face, rubbing it off as he took a few steps back to let the Tympole cover the wall with moisture. The Leech Seed on his part seemed to react positively, burrowing deeper into the rocks as things started to shift around. "That helps, hey Leech. Why don't you help them out too?" Susumu asked with an encouraging stare towards the Pansage, glad that the newly caught Pokemon was an obedient one.
<O-Ok!> The Pansage was excited! He wanted to see what Susumu's new plan was, to see if it would have an even greater effect combined with the Tympole's bubble. The Pansage pulled out another parasitic seed from his head and grinned, tossing it into the wall as it squirmed and planted its way inside. The earth started to weaken again as vines burst out of the seed, making the rock less stable as the vines struggled to break it apart.
"That looks good." Susumu commented with a stare towards Nate's side, impressed with Leech's natural desire to help. Not a lot of Pokemon were like that after all, so he wondered if someone else had possibly tamed his Pansage in the past. <It was nothin'.> The Pansage grinned with a bashful blush, then turned to snicker at the Tympole. That's right, he was being awesome and helpful this time. Sucker.

Nate hoped that Susumu wasn't getting a bad impression of him. After-all, Susumu and his Pansage had just planted seeds into the wall Nate was working on to weaken it. That was helpful, and with the use of bubble and leech seed it was going to be one weak wall to hack into. Which made it easier to work with, and it seemed Susumu was a pretty go-with-the-flow guy. Nate then decided to say, "We should combine our pokemon's attacks to decay and weaken the wall, what do you think? I have one move this little guy knows that could possibly make this part of the cavern collapse."Nate watched as Tympole kept using bubble onto the wall to make it moist and easier to attack for Nate. He then observed Tympole as the little water type pokemon bounced it's little body towards Susumu as it started to blow a few bubbles onto the side of the wall that he was attacking so it would make it easier for him. Now the pokemon were one for one in helping out the trainers, but the Pansear seemed to look like it wanted to make it a competition as the little green monkey kept glancing evilly towards Tympole. It was helpful when the Tympole kept using bubble on the wall, helping the two leech seeds within the earth work their way through the rocks and mud in order to shift them further apart from each other. The Pansage wasn't gaining any health from it, but he could keep them active with a little bit of energy if he had to. Leech stared at the wall in concentration when he realized that it was getting a bit too muddy in here---the Tympole was overdoing it. <Hey, squirt bottle. Knock it off.> He commented in a haughty tone, as if he felt somehow superior to the Tympole. If they were gonna pull off this mining act somehow, it was pointless if everything was wet and filled with mud.
<Don't you have any other attacks?> He asked with an impatient tap of his foot, not caring if the only thing he had used so far was Leech Seed. Leech and Susumu stared at the wet earth with a look of distaste, though at least Leech could handle getting dirty, hell, he was a monkey that could fight with poop. "You should try to get some of this mud out of the way, I'll use the shovel. Use your Vine Whip." Susumu decided, dropping the pick ax onto the floor as he used the other tool that the hiker gave him--the shovel, which made digging into the wet earth much easier.
The Pansage watched his trainer dig the shovel right into the earth, putting his foot on the edge of the blade as he kicked it a bit deeper before coming to a stop--the hard earth had shovel blocked him, but it was ok. Scooping out the moist earth that he had, he tossed it into a pile behind him harmlessly, and Leech quickly got the idea of what he had to try. He wrapped his vines around whatever mound of mud he could reach for, trying to balance it with a wince before tossing a smaller pile right behind him. They got this.

Susumu didn't look to happy after he had observed the mud Tympole had created. Nate didn't care, if this guy wanted a mining partner he had to put up with stuff like that. He knew Tympole really had only one controlled move, Bubble. The other one had the potential to make the cavern cave-in. Tympole looked over at Pansage as he stopped using Bubble and observed the grass type monkey pokemon using Vine Whip, he didn't like the attitude the Pansage had and wasn't going to let the other pokemon think it was superior, when it clearly wasn't. Tympole then said to Pansage, "Listen here, I have to use Bubble because the only other attacking move I have is Earth Power. That move is to harmful for somewhere like in here. So just lay off it."Tympole wasn't going to put up with the Pansage. Luckily Nate didn't understand poke-talk or he would would have attacked the Pansage for trying anything on his Tympole. Nate dropped his pick-axe, picked up his shovel and dug some large holes in the ground. The water inside the cavern then started to flow into the holes, severely decreasing the amount of water left inside. Nate then shoveled the left over dirt over the water as it set itself into the dirt and hardened the ground. Nate then put his shovel on the ground and picked up his pickaxe as he said to Tympole, "Tympole, Have a rest for a while. You've worked pretty hard and deserve some time off."Nate took a breath and then said to Susumu, "I'm not getting many shards here, wanna keep moving on through the cavern?"It was true, Nate wasn't getting many Shards at the moment. The Pansage snickered to itself when it heard the Tympole's unemotional reply, finding it to be pretty hilarious. Clearly humans were more interesting with their wide range of emotions and expressions, and even if he himself was a Pokemon, he was rather human-like in some regards. He was able to appreciate humans for all that they were, trying to learn from them in order to better himself. Shame that this Tympole couldn't do the same. This was why the monkeys were more advanced than the fish. <It's called self-control, which is a shame that you don't have. I bet that move could even be useful, whatever it is.> The Pansage said with a dramatic sigh, holding his hands up like a 'whatever bro' and shaking his head.
"Keep walking?" Susumu asked with surprise, not expecting this guy to be so impatient. Well, he figured that since this area was mostly mud and hard to dig through earth that it was probably kind of screwed over anyways. He looked at the wall regretfully before sighing, picking up his tools and standing up. "Yeah, might as well. We shouldn't have to go far." He complied, walking a little further down with a motion for Leech to follow him. The Pansage looked at Susumu curiously, light on his hat pointing up at his trainer's face as he suddenly grinned and climbed up Susumu's back, startling him as the Pansage settled nicely on his shoulder and looked ahead.
Not far off there was a fork in the cave that ran off in three different directions, but Susumu didn't want to go down either of them. It would've sucked if they got lost somehow, so he wasn't about to go and risk it. "I'm fine with starting here." He said with a crack of his neck, dropping his stuff carelessly to the ground as Leech slid off of his back, giving his trainer goosebumps as Leech made contact with his skin. <Alrighty, let's not mess up this time.> The Pansage said with a bored and unamused look, digging his claws into the wall and found that it was a little softer here naturally. It didn't have as much rock, which otherwise would've hurt his claws. Not bad, not bad. Susumu went at it with his shovel to check the density of the wall, finding that he was better off using the shovel for now.
The pick ax could be used later when it became harder to get into, but for now this actually worked. "Know any digging songs?" Susumu asked Nate with a grin, giving the guy a chance to say something to fill in the background noise, which only consisted of them digging.

Nate could get along with Susumu, he was a pretty flow guy. Like Nate himself. The two trainers agreed to keep moving on through the cavern. The pokemon both followed behind their respected trainers. Susumu was leading the way, until they got to a pitchfork in the ground. Nate got a better look as he found three roads to go down. That could only end in controversy, it was best of just staying where they were now. Tympole didn't look so happy, even know it was having a small break it looked peeved off. Nate had noticed both the Pansage Leech's mouth had been moving at the same time as Splash's, they might have had an argument or disagreed on something. It was a mystery for Nate. Tympole looked at Leech the Pansage and said, "I have self-control, more then you I'd say. I'm not going to make a stupid mistake and use Earth Power and make this place cave in. The reason being is because I can stay calm and collected."Tympole flicked it's head after speaking and turned it to Nate as the water tadpole watched as it's trainer bent down to his knees. He then patted the Tympole and showed his hand to Splash. Inside his hand was poke food, he must have had some with him somewhere was Tympole's initial thought as the little water type ate the food out of his kind trainer's hand. Nate then stroked Tympole once more before standing upright again. Tympole felt like Nate was a trainer he could trust and they had only been together for a short time now and he felt they had already formed a bond. Nate felt good after attending to Tympole as he saw Susumu using a shovel on the wall. It must have been a weaker wall to be able to use a tool like a shovel. Nate placed his pickaxe on the ground, picked up his shovel and started digging crevices into the wall. More shards then before had fallen out, the cavern they were in must be packed with millions of the shiny objects. Nate was asked by Susumu if he knew any digging songs. To tell the truth, he didn't know any at all. Nate didn't usually listen to songs that much unless he had some free time to kill. Nate kept shoveling into the wall as he turned his head to Susumu and said to him, "Sorry Susumu, I don't happen to know any Digging songs. Sorry mate."Nate took a breath before he started speaking again, "Oh, Susumu. I noticed your Pansage and my Tympole have been talking alot to each other. I also noticed my Tympole wasn't very happy. I'm guessing our pokemon may have had an argument or disagreed about something."Nate was trying to see why the Pansage may have tipped off his Tympole. Although, Nate also guessed that Susumu couldn't speak or translate Poke-Talk. It was uncommon for humans to have that trait, but it would definently become handy for any trainer. ----------------------- Splash (M) 5TYMPOLE LEVEL: 5 Swift Swim | Hydration Water Bubble - Growl - Supersonic - Earth Power Taking A Break.Mining Post 5/10

The Pansage glared at the Tympole when it made that jab about his self-control, which was clearly a lie. <I'm not the one that can't hold back on my attacks, newbie.> The Pansage had been around for a while, especially if over time he was able to acquire such a large and diverse list of attacks. He found them all without the help of Susumu, though he was sure that he could be further trained and improved while in the embrace of human companionship. <You are pretty defensive, how primitive.> The Pansage stated with a bored look at the water type, straightening out a finger and twirling around the leaves in his hair in amusement. He might've gotten some dirt in there, but he was a monkey that didn't exactly care about the things he touched. He was a wild Pokemon most of his life after all, so he was free to interact in animalistic ways even though he was trying to adapt to humans and their social norms.
Susumu sighed as Nate mentioned not knowing any songs to sing, not paying too much attention to the chattering Pokemon. They did seem to have a defensive undertone, but he didn't think much of it. Let them be rivals and compete for all he cared, as long as they kept it to words and didn't start a fight, they should've been fine. "Yeah, I got none either. We could make one up though." He suggested with a playful grin towards him, trying to break the ice somehow.
Though really, Nate only seemed to make it a little harder to try and make things friendlier by bringing up their two Pokemon. Disagreeing or fighting? He stopped digging to glance at his Pansage, which was boredly scratching at the wall while making glances and small talk to the Tympole. He had no idea what they were saying, even if Nate brought it up. "Who knows. They'll just have to get over it though." He said with a shrug, not minding that they weren't best friends. Honestly, his own team had even more messed up relationships than this. This was tame compared to that.

Nate felt like he was making the conversation they were trying to have bleak. Nate wasn't the best of talkers and would much rather concentrate on the task at hand. Although Susumu may have hit the right note pointing out that the pokemon would get over it sooner or later. Nate just liked to have a connection with Splash that most trainers wouldn't have. Nate heard Susumu suggest they make a digging song. It was quite an ingenious idea to be exact. It would kill the silence and mostly eradicate the digging noise that was being made by the two trainers and their pokemon. Nate looked at Susumu and said to him, "Your right, our pokemon will get over it. If they end up taking measures they know they shouldn't then we both call our pokemon inside our pokeballs. What do you think?"Nate took a breath and let Susumu have a quick think over what he had just said before Nate followed up by saying, "Make a digging song, hmm. Let's do it then. I'll start with the first line and we can go from there. I hate signing, but it's something to do while were here I guess."Nate quickly coughed and started to sing the first line of the song they were going to make, he said, We're journeying into Shasta Ruins, digging for Shards..."Nate stopped singing their, he didn't know what else to sing. Nate was truly bleak at singing and proved it just then. His voice wasn't melodic or harmonic. It was just another thing Nate could add to his list of things he hates. Tympole had heard enough from Pansage and was still in control of himself as he knew he was the better pokemon of the two. He then said to Pansage, "You are a monkey pokemon. I'm a Tadpole, my last evolution is a Seismitoad, what's yours. Just a taller version of yourself, how awesome are you... Here, I'll give you a small taste of how powerful my Earth Power is"Tympole closed it's eyes as it concentrated heavily on conducting the attack. Splash knew if he used the attack to heavily it could cause the whole cavern to possible cave in. That wasn't what he wanted. Tympole's body started to get an outline glow of gold and yellow that started to shine. Then suddenly, in front of Tympole generated cracks within the ground. The cracks started to widen and head straight towards the weak wall. As the cracks connected with the wall it made it slightly shake and rattle as Tympole finished the attack. Now all that could be seen in the wall was a large hole from where Tympole had hit. Then suddenly something strange happened. Shards came flying off the wall like flies and fell to the ground like rain. Tympole now had a smile on it's face as it said to Pansage, "That wasn't even full power."Nate watched in astonishment as he was surprised with Tympole from the attack it had used and how it had controlled the power and not made the cavern cave in. Nate then started shoveling all the shards that had fallen onto the ground into a pile. He then put a few over on Susumu's side. Nate thought it was better to just seem like a good guy to him then have to act and sign and pretend to be one. Susumu just shrugged at Nate's response, pretty much having that idea in the first place anyways. Though seriously, Leech was way stronger than most Pokemon owned by trainers anyways. If any Pokemon was going to be recalled, it would be a fainted one. He was still keeping Leech out to at least keep digging, unless the Pokemon was being completely being unreasonable with the task at hand. He perked up at the mention of the song, grinning at Nate's terrible attempt at a song line. They'd get into it though, he knew they would! "Digging for shards~! Digging for shards~!" Susumu said it with a laugh in two different notes; high than low, trying to find a melody against Nate's plain base tone.
The Pansage continued to snort and scoff at the Tympole's impractical reasoning, crossing his arms defiantly as he continued to talk to this unreasonable beast. <And how do you know what I evolve into? You've probably been in a Pokeball or a pool for your entire life.> The Pansage pointed out cleverly with a grin, though he really didn't know what a Seismitoad was either. He had been raised in the Proxim Gardens his entire life, but he definitely would've been repulsed by its appearance if he ever saw one. 'A taller and more charming version of perfection.' The Pansage thought snootily to make himself feel better, feeling like the Tympole was attacking him verbally now. So much bragging, it was distasteful.
Finally, the Tympole started to use an Earth Power on the wall that managed to shift things around and make shards appear, glittering and pretty on the ground. The Pansage's mouth dropped, but he quickly caught himself and glared at the Tympole in frustration. <That's what I was trying to make you do earlier, you dumb shit! Do that sooner!> The Pansage said in a huff, at least acknowledging that it had the potential to do a task as simple as digging. It was still as dumb as a rock and as slow as a grandpa with a cane though.
Susumu looked up, completely startled at the loud sound that the level 5 Tympole created. Such a weak thing could pull off that much? Now that was hot. "Nice!" He commented with an impressed whistle, looking at the shards that emerged from the wall with another nod. Yep, that worked. "Leech, how about you sort them out. We can't use the broken ones." He explained, after all, they had 3 more posts of this to endure in order to claim any of them. The Pansage wanted to look more at the shiny things anyways, making two vines appear from his hands to shift through the shards that had fallen on the ground. Mimicking how Nate had a pile set up for himself, he contributed to both piles fairly and equally and tried to give everyone the same amount. The broken ones were carelessly tossed behind him, not having any use for them.

Nate really didn't care whether Susumu's Pansage was stronger then Tympole, neither did he care whether Susumu hated his singing. Nate wasn't born to sing. Nate listened to Susumu's next line in the song. So far the song wasn't very happy for a digging song and sounded like two dieing animals singing. Nate looked over at Susumu as he finished collect the not broken shards and throwing the broken ones behind him, he then said his next lines in the song, "Pokemon helping dig along, doing their job weak or strong."Nate actually found that line pretty catchy, it was probabally because it rhymed. Nate looked at Tympole as the little pokemon awaited Nate to either command him to do something. Although he would usually command Tympole a move to use on the wall, he didn't he instead said, "Tympole, Sort out the broken and non broken shards for me ok."Tympole was going well for his first time with Nate inside the Shasta Ruins, Nate guessed that Susumu may have already been in here a few times before. Experience was great to have, and Susumu looked like he had some. Although after him watching Tympole unleash a bit of his fury onto the wall he looked astonished that the little tadpole could perform such a dangerous and strong move. Tympole felt like using Earth Power on Pansage at the moment, that smart mouth little monkey was mouthing off at every chance he got. He just couldn't keep his trap shut. He even called him a dumb shit, now that was offensive. The only reason he knew what Pansage would evolve into was that he saw a poster when Nate took him inside Harris's Mega-mall about the unovan monkey trio. He had just assumed that the more grown green one had to be the evolution of Pansage. Tympole didn't respond to Pansage, instead he ignored him. Nate had collected a fair amount of shards already, but not enough to trade into the guy out the front for anything valuable to him. Nate just had to keep working as he picked up his shovel and started to dig into the wall, unveiling holes with shards inside them. As they fell out Tympole followed Nate's orders and started sorting them out. Nate while shoveling said to Susumu, "Ya' know, this expedition hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. To admit it, your a pretty cool guy."Nate may have been hit by a wand that made him become nice all of a sudden, because it wasn't like him to say something like that. Tympole kept glaring over at Pansage to make sure he didn't trying anything on him. Anything was clearly possible inside the cavern, and the two of them having a tussle was the more common situation. They were almost done with their shard hunting, since Susumu realized that they were probably about to reach the maximum that they could get from this area soon. He set his Pansage on cleaning and sorting duty, watching the two Pokemon cooperate with a small smile. They worked something out somehow, even if they suddenly weren't as talkative. That was fine, really. "But you know you still gotta catch'em all~" Susumu also tagged in another line as he shoveled out another patch of dirt that had a few shards hiding within it, glad that they had found such rich and vibrant shard spot. They had been lucky here. "To be the best that you can be!" Ok, so that was from another song, but it seemed oddly fitting as Susumu retrained his chuckles from singing the line. Would Nate catch him on that one? It was a bit of an older song after all, so it wasn't exactly at the top of everyone's heads.
The Pansage appeared uninterested in the Tympole after their constant clashes with each other, rolling his eyes with a snort whenever they walked past each other to sort through the constant amount of shards. They were all really dirty though, like covered in a mix of mud and dust. Wouldn't they be better if they sparkled? The Pansage plucked a leaf from off of his head as he sat himself down between the two piles and started to work on cleaning off the ones already collected. The Tympole didn't need help sorting, and besides, he was being useful in his own way by doing this.
"Oh?" Susumu stopped singing and digging to glance over at Nate, not expecting such a friendly and honest comment from him. He wasn't so used to guys being that blunt and kind, really. Hell, he wasn't the kind to easily complement others like that either. "T-Thanks." He replied gruffly, taking it well as he tried to focus back on the wall. "I've done this a few times, I know how it is." He added, though he didn't realize that Nate was completely new to this digging thing. He ended up being more of a teacher than he realized.

Nate could recognize the lyrics from somewhere that he had previously listened to it. Although he knew it, he couldn't pinpoint the name of the song. Nate shoveled into the the wall and uncovered more shards as he watched Tympole continue to sort them out into piles and sharing them with Susumu. As Nate shoveled the soft wall he sung, "With Friends and Enemies, we work through until the end."Nate wasn't that creative, but he really didn't care. He was here to mine and collect shards. Not to sing. Nate kept shoveling into the wall as he observed Tympole happily work along and do what it had been told before to do. Nate felt that Tympole was a good obedient pokemon and that he had picked the right starter pokemon. Nate then heard Susumu say thanks and tell Nate that he had been in Shasta Ruins before, Nate happily nodded his head to acknowledge him. Tympole recognized that Pansage had started to clean the shards with a leaf. Pffft, what a wimp. He was a grass type, he couldn't wash the dirt off like Tympole could. Tympole got the non-broken shards pile and started to use bubble on them, the little pokemon made sure it didn't use to many bubbles in-case it caused another incline of water in the room. To the Pansage, the humans sounded pretty good when they were singing. He heard Pokémon sing all of the time, but the words left much to be desired. Though there were different meanings to each Pokémon cry, humans had individual words to make up many things. They could rhyme. Pokémon couldn't. The Pansage listened with interest, ears twitching whenever a different trainer started to make up a line to their tune. He would've jumped into the song as well, but the Tympole soured his mood completely. Speaking of which; he stared at the Tympole when his annoying bubble made the dirt on the shards wet, turning it into a gooey mud instead. Ugh, gross. That wasn't very clean.
The Tympole was gonna have to keep up with the bubbles, as the Pansage plucked an even bigger leaf from his head and started to scrub them furiously. Damn Tympole, making things harder than they needed to be. The Pansage grumbled incoherent things to himself as he worked even more furiously on drying the shards clean of the mud, using some of the water to help give them an even better shine. In a way, the pair really was working together despite the foul mood between each Pokémon.
"There might be sad smiles but there's still a hand to lend." Susumu knew their song was as dumb as hell now, tripping on his words as he struggled to think of a word to rhyme with Nate's last word. That ended up working, even though their song was rather dumb. He was gonna have to contribute another line for Nate though. "When life has got you down, and there's no one else around~" Nate's turn to think of a good line to wrap this song up! His tone seemed to build up, as if suggesting that a grand finale was needed.

Tympole recognized that after using bubble on the shards that the dirt had turned into mud. That was even worse, but the Pansage was helping to his surprise. Making the shards muddy made it easier for Pansage to scrub the muck off of them rather then having to bury all it's energy into trying to furiously scrub away at the dirt to get no progress at all. Nate could see that Tympole looked all right with the task he had been set. That was a good sight, and to see his pokemon seeming to work together with another pokemon was even better. Nate kept hacking at the very soft parts of the wall as dirt fell to the ground and shards were uncovered. The song the two trainers were singing was horrible to say the least, but it was a fun thing to do to kill some time and avoid the sound of mining. Susumu was an easy guy to get along with, but Nate knew he probabally gave the guy the wrong impression of himself when they met. Nate didn't really care as he started to sing, "Just believe in your dreams and achieve what you believe."A sissy ending to the song, it was a cheesy way to wrap it up as Nate slightly smirked knowing that Susumu had probabally guessed that Nate was never going to take the career of a singer. Nate kept digging into the wall as he concentrated on the task at hand, their wasn't long left and they would be out of the ruins. At the song's ending, Susumu grinned at how it absolutely didn't rhyme at all, but it sounded rather exciting when Nate sung it. He laughed as he stopped mining into the wall, feeling his arms get rather sore from all of this digging. Besides, last time some chick in a dress nailed his arm pretty good with her pick ax. Thinking about it still made him wince, so he had been taking it pretty easy this entire time. At least it had time to heal, but he wasn't going to exhaust himself so quickly so he wouldn't bust it up and make it worse.
"Not bad, not bad. The next...Michael Jackson." He joked as he started to help the Pokemon sort through and clean the shards. He was satisfied with their piles, even though they looked rather small compared to some others he had dug with in the past. Leech was a rather decent cleaner, cautious about not breaking a single shard he touched.
<It's kind of fun, doing this.> The Pansage commented with a not so thrilled voice, but only due to how focused he was on his job. Sususmu grinned and rustled the Pansage's head affectionately, glad he was being such a helper. "Tympole, you're pretty tough." He didn't remember the Tympole's name, since it didn't really stick out. He'd probably remember it the more he heard it being used. "Keep at it." He winked at the water type before scooping up his own shards into his bag, planning on taking them back out of the tunnel.
"I think we're done here then. Nate, nice digging with ya." Susumu held out his hand for Nate to shake with a friendly grin on his face, looking rather dirty from getting in the mud and earth. Oh well, Nate was just as bad. Leech saw the good-bye speech and instantly climbed onto his trainer's back, head peeking out to glance shyly at Nate with a grin, ignoring the Tympole completely. With that, they were ready to leave. As Susumu and Leech left the mines to take their break, the Pansage's voice could be heard echoing in the tunnels in soft 'ooks' and 'eeks', singing the familiar song that he heard earlier.
