The path forward stretched before him. At his heels, Jet walked along with him. Together, the two of them continued walking, leaving the circus-like tent where the Buizel had practically run for his life behind them. It was time to get moving...and now, it was time. He was about to start his new journey for real. He stopped walking for a moment and took out the newest Pokéball out of his bag that had a Pokémon in it. A Piplup...he had actually been lucky enough to land what was probably a bit of a rare Pokémon. But one thing had crossed his mind. He still had to name him. After thinking for a moment, mulling over a few names in his head, he was tempted to just call him 'Piplup'. But since he had already named the Buizel Jet, he may as well name him too. "...Vince?" he muttered aloud. He liked it. He wasn't sure where it had come from, but it sounded alright. "What do you think, Jet?"
The Buizel at his heels didn't respond verbally, but nodded his head in acceptance. So that was that. Unless the Piplup said otherwise when he first released him, his name would be Vince. Speaking of which, he should probably meet his new Pokémon. He didn't hesitate to open up the Pokéball so that, after a small explosion of white light, a Piplup emerged on the grass in front of him. "Hey there, Vince." he said with a slight smile. The Piplup just looked up at him. He realized that the Piplup had been unconscious when he found him.... He had been in his home surroundings, fell unconscious in some way (or was just asleep or something), and awoke in a completely new area with a total stranger.
Well, he would just have to wait on that, then. "A-alright then, let's get going.... I'm Apollo, your new Trainer." He smiled down at the Piplup and kneeled down to his level. Jet was quick to scurry onto his shoulders again. Apollo could only assume that he didn't want the newcomer to take his spot. "So...let's get going, alright? We've got a big world to explore." he said, standing up again with a bright smile. He debated with himself for a moment, then returned the Piplup back to his Pokéball. Jet was one thing, but he didn't know the Piplup very well yet. For all he knew, the Penguin Pokémon could run off and be lost forever. He didn't want that to happen so soon. He put the Pokéball back into his bag. He kind of regretted having to put him back in so soon, but it was for the best.
With that, Apollo started forward again, Jet riding on his shoulders like before. He was ready to face the world, moving on from his old life as Manny's son.

+ And away he ran. Running away from the Pidgey. The Ekans was trying to stay away from it, but that thing had air! It was quite unfair at the advantage it had.
Only too soon, the Ekans was in the air, screaming out screams of pure fear. <"HELP! HELP! HELLLLPPPPP!!!!!"> he squealed as the Pidgey was gaining air, not as quickly as it was before, but to him, it was pretty fast.
--
The Pidgey was hungry, and it wanted food. Now. As soon as she saw the Ekans, she instantly thought 'Dinner!' and went after it. Sadly, he saw her, and went off 'running'. This was going to be easy! Ekans were pretty slow!
Soon, she was gaining on him, and even sooner, she had him in her grasp. Lifting him off the air as her talons secured a spot on his slippery body, and away they went. Heading straight for the Piplup and his trainer.

((Hm. Just saying that the only Pokémon still out would be Jet, the Buizel. xP Vance, the Piplup, was let out of the Pokéball and returned in that post. Just making sure that's clear. xD)) It wasn't long before Apollo and his Pokémon had their first encounter. A loud cry through the trees could be heard, and in a matter of moments, a Pidgey could be seen flying through the air in their direction. Of course, Apollo hadn't heard anything, but the Buizel on his shoulders heard it quite clearly. And when the Buizel's head snapped to face the direction of the noise, Apollo followed his gaze to the sight of the Pidgey. However, what caught his eye was the Poison-type Snake Pokémon in its talons. The first thought that went through his mind was simply 'What would a Pokémon trainer do here...?' Instinctively, he thought about catching one...either one, or even both if possible. But he couldn't help but push that thought aside. It would appear that the Ekans was soon to be dinner for the Tiny Bird Pokémon if something wasn't done. His love for Pokémon automatically kicked in for him, and he looked at Jet, who met his gaze and they both nodded in understanding. "Go on, Jet, let's see what you can do." Apollo said aloud, but somewhat quietly. He knew what to do. He knew Buizel's moves at this point, and he knew what to prepare for. He hesitated for a moment, not sure if he should interfere with nature's path or not, but he shook his head. He couldn't take the thought of even something as natural as that. Since Jet seemed to share his emotion, he nodded again. "Alright, let's try..." he quickly ran through the three moves that Jet could pull off in his mind. "Sonicboom...try knocking them out of the air." Jet didn't need to be told twice. He jumped off of Apollo's shoulders and into the air in the direction of the Pidgey and Ekans. His tail started to glow and he spun around, sending a small arc of energy from the tips of it, sending the Sonicboom attack toward the Pidgey. He didn't say anything as he did so, but he did grunt a bit. He was getting ready to enter his first battle with another Pokémon...or at least that's what he expected. He was, naturally, a bit nervous about it.... Jet used Sonicboom!

The pidgey was still feeling smug, knowing that she had caught dinner despite the cold winter months, and hadn't noticed the trainer in front of her. Well, she had, but really did not think that a human would care if she gobbled up an ekans or two. Weren't humans afraid of these poisonous beings?
The sonicboom came inexpectantly and the bird pokemon dropped her prey. The ekans was dazed from bring dropped at that height and lay on the ground or a bit, trying to figure out which way was what. Had he been saved? Had an angel from above swoop down to destroy the demon pidgey that had just tried to eat it?
Oh, the pidgey was mad. She spotted the little weasel pokemon and glared. It had no place interfering with the fundamental laws of nature! The strong ate the weak, and that was that! <What do you think you're doing?> she called out, almost in a screech. <That's my dinner, you're letting escape!> Indeed, the ekans was escaping. The pokemon had finally regained its senses and was slithering away as fast as he could. The pidgey immediately gave chase, unwilling to let her prey run away so easily. Dipping down to the ground, she used a quick sand attack on the buizel, warning it not to come any closer, before she went for the ekans.

Apollo could have predicted the Sand Attack. In fact, he should have seen it coming a mile away. How else would the Pidgey be able to attempt to leave the Buizel stunned and chase after its prey again? But for some reason, the thought hadn't come to his mind, and as a result, the Sand Attack splattered Jet. However, he couldn't let that deter them. They had a goal to accomplish. As Jet heard the Pidgey's surprised response, he almost stopped attacking completely. But then he felt a surge of reassurance when he remembered that it was to save the life of another Pokémon. Both he and his Trainer knew that it was only the natural thing...but still, the thought bugged them, and they wouldn't allow it on their watch. If the Ekans got away, then so be it. But they weren't going to let the Pidgey chase it down. "Jet, try again!" Apollo called out. "Run after it and give it another Sonicboom!" Jet obliged rather quickly, dashing forward on all four paws, trying to catch up to the Pidgey. The dirt from the Sand Attack was still slightly clouding his vision, but it wasn't too bad. He jumped into the air again and spun around yet again, launching yet another Sonicboom attack at the Flying-type Pokémon. Just as the Pidgey was within seconds of getting her claws on the screaming Ekans again, another shockwave buffeted her, sending her unceremoniously on her ass. Eyes blazing as she turned around to face the Buizel, she took a step forward, her talons digging furiously into the dirt as she attained a battle stance, ready to smash the creature that was causing her to be a butterfingers into the ground. >You just picked your last fight,< hissed the Pidgey, before kicking up another cloud of sand at the Buizel's eyes while the terrified serpent fled into the bushes, peering out with bulbous golden eyes at the commencing battle. Her Sand Attack completed, Pidgey jumped and glided at the Buizel, trying to slam her plump body into the water weasel's chest. ::pidgey:: Used Sand Attack and Tackle.

As the Pidgey turned around to face him with what could be considered a declaration of war, Jet gulped slightly. What had he just gotten into? He had never battled before...and this Pidgey was sure to have battled somewhere along the line. He knew that he didn't stand a chance against this Bird Pokémon...he was in for a world of hurt. But, it was too late to go back now. He couldn't just turn around and run away...that would mean that he let the Pidgey win and he's just go hunting for that Ekans again. <W-well w-we'll just see about that...!> the Buizel retorted with a quivering voice. It was quite obvious that he was scared out of his wits at this point. However, he managed to shake it off at the comfort of Apollo's voice. "Don't worry, Jet, I know we can do this...and don't forget that you're not alone here." Apollo knew he had other filled Pokéballs in his bag...two of them...if Jet was starting to get too deep into trouble, he'd switch them out. Jet nodded a bit, though he was still shaking slightly. If the sight of this Tiny Bird Pokémon scared him...he would hate to see the larger, more dangerous Pokémon they were bound to see. As the Pidgey started moving again, Jet recognized the signs of the attack. As such, he was able to evade the Sand-Attack by jumping to the side...however, he wasn't so lucky with the Pidgey's follow-up attack. He let out an audible groan of pain as the Pidgey collided with his chest, sending him onto his back, limbs sprawled out on the ground. But he wasn't going to stay down for too long. No, he got back to his feet quickly. If he stayed down, his opponent would take the opportunity to beat him even harder. That was only common sense. The next move Apollo called out was the same as before. Another Sonicboom. It was kind of embarrassing that he didn't know how to pull off any Water-type attacks...or any other damage-dealing attack, really, but that would have to wait. Jet spun himself around, yet again unleashing the wave of Sonicboom at his target, the Pidgey. Dodged Sand Attack, hit by Tackle, used Sonicboom

The Pidgey was knocked back by the Sonicboom, she got up and scowled at the Buizel. He was using that move over and over again, this meant two things. 1. He knew no other attack moves. 2. This was gonna be an annoying battle.
The Pidgey dug her talons into the ground and tried to shoot some sand in the Buizel's eyes. The sand flew in the air and tried to land on the Buizel's face. The Pidgey then tried to Tackle herself into the water type, her wings flapping to get herself some speed before she tried to slam into the Buizel once more.

The Buizel's vision was just starting to clear. It was still harder to see the Pidgey's movements as clearly, but at least he could tell what was going on. He saw the Pidgey get blasted again by the Sonicboom...but there was no way he could tell just how many more the Pidgey could take...he figured that this probably wasn't going to go as well as he could hope. It seemed like the Pidgey still had a lot of fight left in it. Well, he'd just have to keep fighting and hope for the best...and if worse came to worst, he was confident that Apollo would cover him. The next thing that came was another Sand Attack...but he couldn't see it coming in time to dodge it. Jet's face was splattered with even more sand, and he stumbled backwards from the attack, clutching his face and trying to clear it. He only just barely heard Apollo's warning about an incoming attack...but unfortunately, not fast enough to get out of the way. Then again, the fact that he could hardly tell where it was coming from didn't help, either. The smaller Pokémon slammed into him as hard as before...but this time, Jet was able to know it was coming and was able to brace himself for the impact. Instead of getting knocked onto his back like last time, he managed to stay on his feet and just stumble backwards again. "Are you alright Jet...?" Apollo called out. Jet glanced back at his Trainer and gave a small nod in response. Two Tackles...he could take more than that. Though how much more, he wasn't entirely sure. All he knew was that his chest was hurting a bit from the two moves. <It'll...take more than that to finish me of...!> he boldy shouted over to the Pidgey. He had no idea why those words came out of his mouth, but they did, and he couldn't take them back. He just had to roll with it. For now, there was just one more thing to do. Another Sonic- "Jet, this time I want you to try to Growl at it first, before attacking!" Apollo called out. If Jet was to stand a chance, he'd need to make the Pidgey do less damage per blow. It was the only way, other than switching out. He knew Jet wouldn't last much longer. Perhaps he should try switching him out to Vance now...? Before he grew too weak to battle after this? Jet glanced back at Apollo yet again. Changing things up now, it seemed. Combos like this might be a bit more useful when out-matched. Jet looked at the Pidgey again. He opened his mouth and tried to let out the most intimidating Growl he could...though coming from a small, somewhat cute Pokémon like Buizel...it wasn't as intimidating as he would have hoped. But hopefully it would get the job done. After he was done Growling, he jumped into the air and launched yet another wave of Sonicboom. He had to keep this up...if he was to get stronger. ::Buizel:: Hit by Sand Attack (Accuracy: -2) Hit by Tackle Used Growl and Sonicboom

The Pidgey saw the attack coming and was confident in dodging it. She flew towards Jet but suddenly jumped into the air, taking flight. The attack missed her completely and she started laughing at him in a mocking tone. ::pidgey:: <"Whoops! I meant to do that,"> said the Tiny Bird Pokemon. Jet could see the Pidgey dodge his attack...he figured it would happen sooner or later with all of the dirt in his eyes at this point. He tried to watch the Pidgey as carefully as he could. But it was just too hard to follow her movements. He felt the Pidgey slam into him hard yet again. He was knocked backwards and his back actually hit a tree, which was probably the only thing that kept him from falling backwards and onto his back yet again. Not that that helped much at all. His legs were shaking, and so he stumbled forward a bit. He looked up weakly at the Pidgey and tried to get himself to attack again. But he just couldn't do it. His legs gave out and he sank to his knees before dropping to all fours. He just couldn't take any more...he was beaten and he knew it. But he was still up...and he could still keep going if Apollo really wanted him to. But that wasn't necessary. The moment Apollo saw Jet sink to his knees, he knew that the time to switch out his Pokémon was now, before it was too late. He grabbed a second Pokéball and hurled it into the air. "Jet, you've had enough...!" Apollo called out. "Come out, Vance!" With that, the Pokéball exploded in light and soon, a Piplup emerged from it, standing between Jet and the Pidgey. Apollo just hoped that Vance could keep the Pidgey busy while he came in and picked Jet up to carry him off the field. The last thing he needed was for the weakened Jet to be beaten on even more. ::Buizel:: Hit by Tackle Switched out for Vance

The Pidgey scowled as the new Pokemon came out. How many did this trainer have? Hopefully not more than this. <Alright, who ever it is I'm battling I'll make them pay for making me lose my lunch!> She exclaimed.
Digging her talons in the ground again she threw some dirt at the Piplup's eyes. The dirt went flying in the air and suddenly dropped to the Piplup. She then scratched her talons on the ground and tried to Tackle the Piplup with her body force, trying to slam herself into the water type.

As Vance saw the Bird Pokémon start the attack, he tried to dodge the Sand Attack by leaping upwards and into the air...however, that led to him getting intercepted by the Tackle attack, sending him right back to the ground. But he was quick to get back to his feet. He was a bit stronger than Jet, so he would be able to take more hits.... Jet had done some damage already. He just had to make sure that he could finish the job. It was at this point that Apollo came out onto the battlefield and picked Jet up in his arms. "Are you alright, Jet...?" he asked, moving the Buizel back over to where he had been standing before. When the Buizel gave a nod, he set him back onto the ground. "Good...we'll just let Vance handle it from here." At that point, they both looked out over the battlefield...and realized that the only move the Piplup knew at the moment was Pound. This sure seemed a bit restricting...but it couldn't be helped. "Vance, try to get it with a Pound!" It was then that he suddenly remembered something. He had received a Pokédex from the Ranger station...he'd better use it while he had the chance. He opened it up and with it, scanned the Pidgey that was in his sight. In the meantime, Vance heard Apollo's command and jumped at the Pidgey. He brought his arm up and then down, trying to slam it hard into the Pidgey's face, trying to deliver a powerful Pound attack. He was going to take this Pidgey down...of that, he was determined. ::Piplup:: Dodged Sand Attack. Hit by Tackle Used Pound on Pidgey

Wild Pidgey appeared! [/center] The Pidgey was used to taking Tackle attacks now, and made a move to dodge--before she realized that the Piplup was actually using Pound. She didn't know how to dodge that, and found herself being hit in the face. "Why you little...!" she growled, forgoing any sandy distractions and launching herself straight at the Piplup in her rage over the malfeasance of being smacked in the face. She was starting to feel a bit tired, though, and very frustrated. All she had wanted to do was have something to eat--the borborygms of hunger in her stomach continued as she tried to Tackle the Piplup. hit by pound. used tackle. weakening a bit.

As the Pound attack connected, Vance nodded in satisfaction. He could tell that his opponent was weakening. That was a good sign. He got himself ready to attack again...but the next thing he saw was the Pidgey turning around to attack him again. He felt the Pidgey's body slam hard into his body, causing him to slide backwards, though managing to stay on his feet. <Heh...you're not bad, y'know. This should be enjoyable.> he muttered. As Apollo watched the exchange of blows, he looked at the Bird Pokémon and saw signs of him tiring out. This just might be over with soon...then he could focus on treating Jet's injuries from the constant rain of Tackles. "Alright, Vance, let's keep this momentum...use Pound again!" He was starting to feel a bit more confident in his abilities...he had managed to see a time when it was good to switch out his Pokémon...and now it seemed that he was about to win his first battle against a wild Pokémon. Sure, it wouldn't be a HUGE accomplishment, but it meant that he had the potential. In recognition of his new Trainer's voice, Vance jumped into the air yet again. Just like before, he swung his flipper arm, though this time using the one on the opposite side of his body, and tried to slam it across whatever part of the Pidgey's body he could reach in another Pound attack. ::Piplup:: Hit by Tackle. The Pidgey scowled at the Piplup. <Enjoyable? ENJOYABLE? Your little friend there owns me a lunch!> She exclaimed. How dare these people just come and make her lunch get away, did they have any idea how hard it was to find food in the winter? Of course not, because they are people who have stores and spoil their Pokemon, wild Pokemon had it so much harder. They just didn't get that! <You think you have it so easy, how do you think we WILD Pokemon have to live?!>
The Pidgey was so busy talking and yapping she didn't notice the incoming attack, she was pounded by the Piplup under his weight and was smacked to the ground. Knocking her beak on the ground she groaned painfully. Getting up slowly she tried to catch her breath. <You will pay.> She said simply before she dug her talons into the ground and flapped her wings angrily. She then tried to ram herself into the Piplup in a furious Tackle.

The Piplup noticed his opponent speaking...but he didn't really listen to much of it. He was still concentrating on his attack at the time. Now that he was finished with his attack, he jumped back again. He needed to keep the distance between them as much as possible if he was to prepare for his opponent's counterattack. The only words that the Pidgey said that made he actually listened to was the last sentence, since it was after he had finished his attack. He would pay...? But then, what the Pidgey said before that caught up with him, now that he thought back on it. But before he could do or say anything in return, the Pidgey was already flying at him. He had been about to say something, so he was unable to avoid the attack and he was hit and knocked backwards, sliding across the ground again. He groaned in pain, but shook it off. She was definitely strong. His train of thought was interrupted and he decided to finish this battle before anything else...he was determined to win it now. "Alright Vance, you know what to do!" Apollo called out to him with even more confidence than before. He was getting the hang of this. "Give it another Pound!" With that, the Piplup repeated his previous actions. He jumped into the air and tried to slam his flipper arm down into the Pidgey yet again, hoping to knock her for a loop. ::pidgey:: pidgey. female. The Pidgey flapped her wings as the Piplup pounded into her and sent her flying backwards. It reminded her of her childhood days when she used to play on the streets and Mammy Pidgeot and Daddy Staraptor used to shout at her and tell her to stop gallivanting with the boys. She only liked them because they played good games and not stupid dress up and make-up or happy families. When she hit the ground she picked up a rock to attempt to throw it at the Piplup but dropped it. She tried to scoop it with her wing before it could touch the ground, but to no success. "Oh butterfingers!" The Pidgey humped and kicked some sand at the Piplup, using sand-attack on the pokemon it was against. She then flung herself forward and used tackle.

The Piplup felt his Pound attack hit successfully and landed firmly back on the ground. C'mon, how many more hits could this Bird Pokémon take...? There was no doubt that the Buizel he had been switched out for had managed to land a few blows with Sonicboom...he had to wrap this up quickly. But before he could do anything else, he saw sand come flying in his direction because of a Sand Attack. He managed to duck underneath the attack. He smiled a bit as he brought himself back up to full height and watch the sand hit the ground behind him...but when he turned his head around again, he saw the Pidgey flying at him, too fast to evade. He was Tackled by the Bird Pokémon and sent sprawling onto his back. <Oooowwww....> he muttered before getting back to his feet. <That one hurt...a lot.>"C'mon Vance, you can do this!" Apollo called out. He was wondering just how much more this Bird Pokémon could take...sure, Jet was a lot weaker than his opponent, but from what he remembered Sonicboom was an attack that didn't rely on strength...so it should have done a good amount of damage on its own. The Pidgey must surely be running out of steam...he just hoped that he would fall before Vance was overwhelmed. After all, Vance wasn't strong enough to beat him on his own, either. At least, that's what he assumed. "Just give it another Pound attack!" The Piplup didn't hesitate after being given his command. He dashed forward in the Pidgey's direction and tried to hammer his arm once more into the Pidgey's body, anywhere he could reach. It didn't matter where. The Pidgey gasped as the Piplup came down onto her, flattened to the ground by the water type she yelled for him to get off. Once she felt that was gone she slowly got to her talons. Panting heavily she had to stay in this! She tried to attack once more but her body ached, as did her head. She tried to shoot some sand at the Piplup but ended up falling over her talons and crashing into the cold ground. She groaned painfully and blinked through her eyes.
