When she'd landed on the nest of leaves, it had been on her bad shoulder. Right now he leg roared at her when she tried to move it, and at best she could only press a little bit of weight on it before it buckled. It'd be okay once she'd rested, of course, but right now she couldn't even walk on it.
Folding it up against her body, she shifted her weight to her back legs and sat up, angling her other paw to support the rest of her head while tilting her head back slightly to rest that weight on her shoulders and spine. It was awkward, and now she couldn't use any physical attacks, which was going to cause a lot of difficulty.
I can't believe I'm going to be defeated by an Ekans and a Darumaka, she thought, disgusted with herself. The Ekans had taken a lot more out of her than she'd thought. Even with an Oran Berry, she'd expected to at least take down the Darumaka, but her body just wouldn't work the way she wanted it to.
So when the Tackle came, the Darumaka was a little bit off course. Surely she shouldn't give up, right? Wrong. Right now there was nothing she could do. She was expecting the Darumaka to run straight ahead and end up charging straight past her. In that regard, she prepared to use her Blaze ability, which was causing her back flames to spike with extreme, instinctive aggression. Her Incinerate ability would cause some damage, even though the Darumaka was a fire type like herself.
It wasn't to be, however. Cinder, as she tried to move to aim her Incinerate, ended up staggering. With a groan, she stumbled straight into the path of the Darumaka, wincing as she almost fell onto her side. This gave the fire type assailant the right path, and though the Tackle was, in comparison to the other attacks used upon her, fairly weak, it was still damaging.
She fell onto her side, stunned, and didn't move. Seeing this, Gary abandoned his post and crossed the distance between himself and Cinder in a heartbeat, crouching to check her vitals. They were weak, thready, but she'd survive without problems. "You did an amazing job," he soothed his partner gently, scooping her off of the cold winter ground and cradling her in his arms. "Rest now, Cinder. You've earned it."
Reaching into his pocket again, he retrieved her Pokeball and recalled her, giving a casual, approving nod to Copper. "If she hadn't already been weakened by that Ekans, you might have very well lost against her. However, I don't think this battle is over." Willing to continue the fight, he pulled out a second Pokeball and released a Lillipup onto the battlefield.
Ian lifted his nose and blinked, nosing the ground curiously to pick up the scents around him before he readied himself for the obvious battle. "Okay, Ian," Gary called out, "Use Howl and Tackle!" Ian was mute. However, the auburn puppy wasn't unable to use Howl. I can do this, the pup told himself assertively, convincing himself that he could in fact defeat this opponent. It's already weak. It can be defeated. I just need to set myself a good pace.
Closing his eyes, Ian's ears perked and he listened to the wind. He matched each breath in time to his own slow heartbeat. Thump. In. Thump. Out. Thump. In. Yes. He could feel his spirit rising, willing him forward, lending him strength. He could communicate in spite of his muteness. He could win this in spite of any challenge set his way. Knowing this and believing that he could do it, he shot over the ground like an arrow, ploughing through the snow and the dark winter night, hurling himself at his opponent.
He could do this!

Brutus couldn't believe his luck. He'd hit the cyndaquil and he'd won! Woooot! He bounced around in circles pleased by his success. But then he felt a little dizzy and had to stop.. He sat down with a plop, breathing heavily, thinking that perhaps he was done now. He looked up when Gary released his lillipup and sighed. Oh no.. another match. He picked himself up, watching the pup struggle to use Howl, wondering why it was so difficult for him. But then a tackle came his way and knocked him over. He fell backwards into the snow and collapsed, unable to get back up again. He was done!
"Crap", Copper muttered.

Content that his duty had been fulfilled, the mute puppy returned to Gary and leapt into his arms, tongue lolling out of his maw happily.
“Well done,” Gary gave the Lillipup a well natured scratch behind the ears and pulled him in close, ruffling his back fur. Already, Gary chuckled, the Lillipup's luscious brown pelt was dappled with with gentle specks of fresh white snow, and as Gary looked skyward, he realised that it had begun snowing again.
“Lovely night,” he mused to himself briefly before turning his attention back to Copper. He didn't expect the youth to stay out and battle, but if he wanted to leave then he could. However Gary had spotted a second Pokeball on his belt, and eyed Copper curiously, wondering why he hadn't already pulled out his second Pokémon.
Does he plan on fleeing? Gary inquired to himself. Or is he catching his bearings before he attempts a second try at winning? I have more Pokémon with me than he seems to. If Copper did try to flee, Gary wouldn't stop him of course. But on the other hand, Gary needed training, and since Copper was already here with him, it would make more sense for him to finish what he'd started.

Oh, it had started to snow? Stings wouldn't like that. He looked at Gary, "What? Oh yeah.. Come out Stings." He was still a little distracted with Brutus's abrupt loss. He was just trying to figure out how his bug type would fair against this normal type. Stings appeared from her pokeball looking grumpy. It was cold. Why was she here? Oh, a battle. Yuck..
Looking the pup up and down she spat out a poison sting before waiting for any instruction.

Granted battles weren't safe, he wanted to make sure that he didn't step on any ice, or black ice, because both were dangerous. It didn't seem like it was cold enough though, and although the ground would absorb most of any water introduced, there wasn't any ice nearby.
Stings was the name of the Pokemon that Copper sent out next. Gary recognised it easily – the evolution of Weedle, the under-evolution of Beedrill, which would give it a Poison typing just like it's predecessor. It would have Shed Skin as an ability, or at least unless it had one of the Dream World abilities that he'd heard so much about.
Gary's keen eyes noted that it didn't look very strong. By that he didn't mean physical strength, although he didn't expect the Kakuna to go weight lifting or anything. By that he was referring to the strength it obtained prior to evolving again into it's final form of a Beedrill.
Which means it's not near evolving just yet. It can't be too many levels above Ian. I'd say they're about the same. Ian stood eyeing the shelled Pokemon with piqued interest, his ears perked and head cocked curiously to one side. The mute Lillipup easily saw the Poison Sting, and though it took him by surprise by that she hadn't received any instruction to attack, he was quick enough to take action of his own.
Carefully he buried himself under the crunchy snow, feeling most of the darts bounce away, though the odd one managed to hit his rump. For a moment the darts stuck in his soft, plushy fur, until he shook them away and sent them scattering like toxic spikes across the ground. Each spike carefully faded away, melting into the snow and leaving a very tiny crater – an indicant of where each had been.
“Good,” Gary called out to Ian, who was awaiting his instructions. “Howl and Tackle once more, Ian!” Ian, though mute, was able to pull off the howl. It was nothing verbal and he gave no mobile signs of even performing the attack. Rather, his eyes smouldered with determination, his tiny tail lifted in what seemed like defiance, and his muscles bunched as though he were preparing to spring. I can do this. It might have more energy than the last one but I can do it!
Pushing forth through the snow, he attacked.

trainer copper ! the kakuna blinked at the muted howl. she teetered on her position and laughed outright. < now thats as sad as it gets. > she shook her head sadly, however didn't notice when the little dog was coming at her with a rather strong tackle and force behind him. she grunted as she was thrown backwards, and copper yelled out indignantly. " come on, stings. i thought you were better than brutus. show me that you are. don't lie to me, bug. " he roared, throwing his fist in the air. the kakuna just rolled her eyes and paid attention to the dog. a sheen fell over her sleek yellow body and she floated to the side.
then a stream of purple darts surged from her mouth as she planned on hitting the pathetic mutt across the terrain with the poison stingers. she smiled faintly. < come on, pup. show me what you've got. > she winked, floating lazily. though she was evidently aware of the fact it was snowing, and that just made her smolder in permanent annoyance.

It wasn't his fault he was mute – he'd been born this way. Knowing that the Kakuna was mocking him for something out of his paws, now... That was just brutal. Gary understood what Stings had said and he wasn't impressed.
“Hey,” snapped the Pokemon Researcher crossly, his brow furrowed and eyes brimming with anger. Since Ian was unable to verbally defend himself, Gary would take it upon himself to voice his own thoughts. This, in turn, caused Ian's ears to perk up in surprise. “Don't say downgrading things to Ian. That's a dick move, Stings, and I don't think you're a dick. Don't prove me wrong.”
Jaws stretched open in a soundless wail as poisonous darts sprayed over his pelt, this time hitting him hard and fast. Rolling over the snow a few times before he skidded to a halt, Ian's eyes scrunched up and his lips pulled back to bare his fangs as he stood.
He prepared to attack again, but then froze, eyes wide and ears erect. How is that thing floating? Realised the Lillipup, his eyes searching. Is it hanging on a strand of silk? Kakuna cannot usually hover, but they can use String Shot, right? So that means the Kakuna must be using the trees...
Of course! If he could knock her off her thread, assuming there was one, he could pin her to the snow with his claws! But it wouldn't be easy getting over there to her, and especially not since he couldn't tell Gary about his plans. Even if he could, Gary didn't understand the speech of Unova Region Pokemon, which was part of why he had come to the Cheyenne Region.
No, he would have to take it upon himself. When Gary's orders came again, the puppy changed them ever so slightly, hoping that his friend wouldn't mind the altercation. Rather than use his Howl attack, he narrowed his eyes, using Odor Sleuth in an attempt to get a fix on the Kakuna and her thread.
With his target in play, he darted forward over the snow in a curved arc, trying to get a good angle on how he could pull off his plan. There was a tree behind the Kakuna, right? He could try to pin her to that. Or he could pin her in the snow and hope that the cold would slow her reactions long enough to avoid any attack sent next.
Since she's using her surroundings, I should use mine. Besides, I don't think snow comes often, right? Better use it now while I can... So he rushed towards the poison type and pounced, his claws spread out and nose wrinkled into a snarl, teeth flashing in calm warning. He would attempt to knock her from her perch and pin her face down into the snow, though whether or not he could hold her there... Well, he'd just have to find out. If it hit, of course.

Assuming the Kakuna is hovering by a thread attached to a tree, Ian used Odor Sleuth to catch it and trying to pin Kakuna to the ground with his Tackle. To get a better idea of the move, read the last two paragraphs <3

[STYLE=border-bottom: 5px solid #FFC7FF;] [/style] Copper looked at his kakuna as if it was mad but he wasn't going to let this dog outsmart his own pokemon. The kakuna knew better than to let herself be hit by that attack, but she was still floating in the air not expecting the odor sleuth to hit. Suddenly she was knocked back against the tree, but her hardened shell had saved her as she fell to the ground skittering across the snowy ground. Then she slowly hovered herself upright and looked at the lillipup with a glare even as she was tackled, being knocked into a tree again. This was hurting, but she had more resilient than this little dog. Oh yes, she was planning on taking it down, and ignoring her trainer's pleas. "Stop being hit around like a pinata, you can do better than that, use harden and poison sting again!" he commanded. The kakuna, Stings, put herself into a more generous position where the sun would reflect off her shiny core, and was aiming ot blind the lillipup with the use of her hardening move. Suddenly her skin shone with a glistening sheen again, and then she somehow used the ground as a force to propel herself forwards. Yes, the snow might have been sticking to her body, but the kakuna literally flailed herself into the air shooting out poison stingers from her mouth again at the lillipup, grinning as her defense was just increasing more. This battle was going to be long it seemed. Trainer Copper has appeared. Ian's tail whipped from side to side happily as his claws sunk steadily into the Kakuna's sturdy shell. It was a cheap shot in his opinion as he was stunned by the thickening shell, though as soon as that happened he released the writhing cocoon Pokemon and let it get up.
Thankfully that gave him enough time to leap out of the way and to safety as the Poison Sting sprayed harmlessly into crunching snow. Ian spun on his heel and immediately dropped back into a battle stance, his head low and shoulders bunched in preparation to spring again.
“Good attempt!” Gary praised, a pleased grin spreading across his face, almost making him appear smug. Calmly and with a casual air about him, he rested his hand on his hip and hid the other habitually into his pocket, fiddling with a berry that he'd stored there.
“Stings, is it? Nice move.” Gary was hoping that because of the snow, Stings' reaction time was lowered just a little bit. Even a second, Gary had learned, was a valuable asset – and a welcome one at that. But there was no time for him to issue an order, really. Still, Ian wasn't going to do nothing. Focusing his attention on Stings, his eyes glowed and he bared his fangs back in an attempt to negate the effects of the Harden.

Poisonous darts sunk into Ian's haunches and he snapped at the air as he turned around to shake the purple darts out. As he did, though, one of them bit a little bit past his skin, not only leaving a large bruise on his back leg, but also poisoning him.
Strangely nothing seemed to be happening just yet, though he felt a sharp pang, followed by a burning sensation where the wound was. Glancing back to make sure that it wasn't bleeding too much, he returned his attention back to Stings and flattened his ears crossly. The Kakuna would pay for that!
This was getting a bit redundant, wasn't it? As soon as Stings' golden body glowed and hardened against any physical attacks, Ian's eyes glowed in an attempt to negate that effect. “You can harden your shell all you want, Stings, but Ian's just going to use Leer to knock it down.” That was Gary, and he sounded quite amused at the whole leer-harden battle what was taking place.
“Okay Ian, use Tackle! Aim for Stings!” Ian nodded, his mouth opening in a soundless bark as though he were silently snapping his jaws at the wind, and rushed forward. His haunch was burning and he could feel it coursing through his back leg, making his muscles stiffen slightly. It was so slight that he could dismiss it for now, but he was wondering whether or not Gary had noticed it. If not, there was going to be a bit of a problem.
Gary's eyes had latched onto the wound there and were scrutinising it thoroughly, but he wasn't sure whether or not Ian was poisoned. It would take a few turns before it started showing any visual signs, at least – maybe by the time Ian could attack next. The skin was swelling, like he'd been stung by a bee, and in a sense he had. Still, he couldn't risk wasting anything, so he would have to wait and find out if Ian had taken a hit or not.

trainer copper ! "Come on Stings! Move it or lose it! Let's win this!" Copper roared at his pokemon, who just rolled her eyes. She watched as her attack poisoned the young pup. Excellent. She could see he wasn't too pleased with that, but she didn't care, bring it on!
Even though Ian just used Leer to break down her defensive harden, she wasn't going to stop just in case he did it again and lowered her defense too much. So once more he body glowed as she hardened her protective shell. She gave Gary a quick glare for his words before she was hit by Ian's tackle attack. Spinning through the snow she refrained from calling out, not wanting to give her opponent the satisfaction. When at last she managed to get upright again she released another poison sting. It was all she could do really.

Move it or lost it! Let's win this!” Shouted Copper at the Kakuna, who responded by curtly rolling her eyes. As soon as she went down to the Tackle and skidded through the snow, Ian danced back on his paws and headed for his trainer, but kept his eyes on the Kakuna which seemed to be unfazed.
More venomous darts dug into his legs. He was slowly becoming numb to the pain of it all; though whether that was because of the poison or because of the growing familiarity to the attacks, it was yet to be ascertained.
“Howl and Tackle, Ian!” Gary ordered. Maybe if they got Ian's attack up more and then targeted the Kakuna's defence, it would be more effective. Boosting his spirit by inwardly increasing his morale and confidence, the Lillipup rushed forward with an outstretched paw, trying to slam it down on his opponent.
He is poisoned, Gary observed, watching the slight twitching on the normal type's leg; the tiny ripple on his flank that seemed to knock more breath out of him than it should. Damn... That's going to be a problem. I could use a Pecha Berry but he's too far out to get to him, and I think the Kakuna's already attacking again. But he won't last much longer...

trainer copper ! Stings didn't want to admit it, but she was really starting to feel weak. The relentless pounding and Leer/Harden tactics were seriously getting to her. Copper however couldn't see any of this. He was convinced that his Kakuna was going to beat Gary's Lillipup, just like Brutus beat Cinder. He needed to be more in tune with his Pokémon.
Stings could have used Harden once more, but she was too tired to both defend and attack. So when Ian came at her once again with his tackle attack she just tried to absorb as much of the damage as she could. Her shell was bruised however and she winced as she fired another poison sting.
"Come on Stings, why so slow all of a sudden? Get in there!" Copper called completely oblivious.

Ian kept his eyes on the sleek yellow shell of the Kakuna, which seemed to be taking a lot of damage. It was beginning to bruise, showing where Ian and Stings had made contact. The Lillipup crouched and flattened his ears against his head, drawing his lips back up into a threatening snarl.
His legs felt wobbly and his blood was beginning to burn in his body. As the final Poison Sting made contact, Ian slump onto his side in a dazed heap. The normal type was unable to battle any further.
Gary moved out and plucked Ian from the ground, scooping him out of the snow and into a warm, soft embrace. “You fought very well, Ian. Now rest.” He murmured. Plucking a third Pokeball from his belt, Gary moved to call out a third Pokemon, but then hesitated. It was honourable to do two on two, wasn't it? He knew with several Pokemon at his disposal, Copper stood little to no chance of defeating him. He wouldn't rob the child of his victory. He'd let him win just this once.
“Well Copper,” he drawled lazily, “It looks like you've taken out two of my Pokemon. I guess I lose.”

[/img] Trainer Copper Fainted from....shock? ::kakuna:: { Stings } Level 7|Female |Shed Skin| Poison Sting|Harden|String Shot Personality: Hates to talk and be social but kind in her own way. +1 level to lillipup! Copper just stared as he saw the lillipup finally go down in the battle; was it possible? Had he finally won a battle? It seemed like a lifetime ago when something like this actually happened, there was no words to describe how he fealt. He was just staring, trying to figure out what had happened when the trainer in front of him confrimed his suspicions.... HE HAD WON?!?!?! Even Sting's mouth was wide open as she tried to comprehend what had just happened, befroe she started bursting with pride. She didn't want to brag about it really, but she was soooooooooooooo proud for actaully winning a battle. The noise of a thump on the ground snapped her back to reality, and when she turned around, all she could do was giggle as she saw Copper sprawled out on the ground, having fainted frrom shock of winning. Well, you can either leave now, or help recover Copper from his shock. xD

He found himself grinning, trying to suppress a laugh as the young trainer stared in disbelief, then in shock. But that quickly turned to disbelief himself as the boy fainted on the spot, hitting the ground with a loud thud.
Gary darted around Stings quickly to check if the boy had hit his head. He sure hadn't been expecting that sort of reaction from Copper, especially since he was so cocky. Is he sick? He didn't look ill, and he doesn't seem to be feverish. At least the snow would have cushioned his fall to some extent.
“Hey, are you okay?” Gary moved to grab Copper by the shoulders and shake him gently. “Copper?” He was breathing steadily, which meant nothing serious. Glancing over his shoulder, he beckoned to Stings. "Stings, has Copper got any medical problems that I should know about, or did he just faint out of shock?"

Trainer Copper Fainted from....shock? ::kakuna:: { Stings } Level 7|Female |Shed Skin| Poison Sting|Harden|String Shot Personality: Hates to talk and be social but kind in her own way. Oh boy, Stings was loving every single moment of this! It wasn't every day that you was able to get something against your trainer, but this was just pure gold! She tried to stiffle her laughter when she noticed the other trainer come rushing past to look at Copper, but it was too hard and once again, the laughter came pooring out of her mouth. "Im sorry, I just couldn't help it..." She said, smiling to herself as the laughter slowly trickled away. "Nah he just fainted from shock. I think this was the first time in ages that we managed to win a battle. Just didn't expect that though." She said, before the giggles once again took over her body, causing her to actually have a giggle fit as she toppled to her side, trying so hard to stop the tears of laughter.

A tiny, quiet chuckle rumbled through his closed lips, which were twitching in an effort not to smile. “Well,” he murmured just loud enough for Stings to hear, “You earned the win. You fought well.”
He wasn't ashamed of losing. He had fought hard and done his best, learned from the experience, and now he just had to put up with his team's annoyance which was bound to be directed at him. Gary moved around to lift up Copper's knees, intending to allow the blood to circulate around his brain. If he had one.
Then he moved back over to Stings and carefully tried to lift her up and wrap her up in his lab coat. “I suppose you'll be cold with all this snow around,” he observed. “Would you like me to start a fire and stay until your trainer wakes up? I have some food if you're interested.”

Besides he'll be up within a few minutes,> she said and then turned back to copper. The kakuna was done talking and he'd have a hard time to get her talking more as Copper was soon sitting up and rubbing his head gently. Looking at the trainer that he had beat made him fall over again just once, however, this time he was staring up at the sky and pondering what he should say to him. Copper felt sort of bad for beating him, but at the same time he was tempted to gloat to him. "I'm sure next time I beat you, I'll be able to rub it in your face more!" he said to the trainer, suddenly changing his attitude, but he was acting just like a douchey rival all of a sudden. That sounded almost familiar, but he pointed at Gary, letting the battle get to his head. "Never forget how strong I am and go about your way...thinking over how I am supreme on this route!" he boasted. Not long after, he returned his kakuna and walked off to find the nearest pokemon center leaving Gary with those words.
