"It's alright Aspen. We'll be fine."
The reassuring words were spoken by a young woman with white hair and icy blue eyes, as well as a small Pokémon hiding behind her legs. The Treecko looked around, then hesitantly stepped forward, and she smiled and padded forwards with him.
Her name was Aisling, and she had just recieved the Treecko from the Ranger Station, after having left the boat that had brought her here.

YANMA & RATTATA APPEARED ! This saccharine introduction to the hero's journey was copacetic material to usher in other innocent creatures that appeared out of the flurry of route one's fauna. Chittering, sniffing, and rummaging were done with hasty abandon as predators and prey alike went about their business, the circle of life continuing in a linear fashion. Buzzing could be heard as its source approached; the subject appeared to be humming to himself, seemingly oblivious to the happenings around him.
Meanwhile, a stealth Rattata was in quiet pursuit of the winged creature, taking frantic steps to keep up with the swift fellow. She was careful not to betray her presence, though she kept constantly ripping every tree she passed to ensure that she could make her way back home (and also to let the other beasts of the route know that she'd been there). It was her egotistical way of announcing her presence to everyone but the pursued. Really, she had no motive to chase the flying insect except to see what adventure it'd lead her to.
As soon as Yanma made to pass the human, he noticed her and flew closer, though keeping a safe distance. <And a huge two legged monster appears! Fwoosh! Two of them, in fact!> He squealed, flinging his many legs into the air. Glancing backwards at the hiding Rattata, he shouted, <Come on, comrade, fight them with me!>
The pursuant Rattata was so shocked that the Yanma knew of her whereabouts that she kept hidden, her heart pounding fretfully beneath her ribcage. How had he noticed!? Hiss!

The humming noise growing ever closer had Aisling's head coming around to find its source, and Aspen shifted, but remained quiet, his body tensing as if he wasn't sure whether to flee or stand beside his new Trainer and fight. What if it was a Dragon!? He started shaking, but then felt a reassuring hand gently touch his head. "We'll be fine. You are more than a match for anything that comes our way," the human said, her tone confident, that same emotion shining in her eyes. Aspen flicked his tail, but her confidence was infectious, and he turned as the Yanma appeared, readying himself. He could do this.... He could! Yanma's appearance did startle Aisling slightly, but she held her ground, refusing to let the uncertainty she truly felt reach her new partner. He seemed unsure of himself, and if he felt her uncertainty, they would surely lose. She had to be confident, for him. The Bug looking back had her blinking, unsure as to why it would. Was there another Pokemon out there? Treecko seemed to think so, as he looked to the bushes where the Yanma had, then back to the Pokemon itself, tail flicking again. Aspen's head cocked slightly as he listened to the conversation, tail twitching in confusion. He then glanced up at his trainer, was also confused. She was unable to understand the Pokemon, so she had no idea what was being said and didn't know they were playing. Looking down at him, she shrugged slightly, then looked again to the wrestling pair, noting the switched positions.
"Okay...." she said slowly, her confusion in her tone. "I'm lost. Perhaps we should go, before they start using attacks that could affect us?" she told him quietly, and he shook his head. He wasn't a Psychic type, so couldn't communicate what was being said to her. But his curiosity had been tweaked, and he wanted to know more.
What are you two doing here? he asked politely. Do you live here?

------ WILD YANMA & RATTATA!
The Yanma was a bit confused at the Treecko's polite nature, but he couldn't help but feel flattered that a stranger was asking about him. Since the Treecko cared enough to ask, he was more than prepared to go into detail about his perilous journey with the fierce Rattata. <It all started on a dark and stormy night, and the MAGICAL CAAAAT GIRRRL~> Yanma quickly directed the Treecko's attention at the Rattata, pointing right at her as he comically sang out her name. The "Magical Cat Girl" flinched at her nickname, sending a glare to the Yanma for labeling her such a thing. <appeared from a vortex that could have been a cardboard box. She was cold, wet and starving. Little did she know was that her soul was about to be saved!> The Yanma bowed his head towards the Treecko, comically holding his hands across his heart to contain his frantic fervor.
Shaking her head at the Yanma's antics, the Rattata couldn't quite bring herself to stop him just yet. She did feel as if the Treecko deserved a warning before things became worse, motioning for him to approach her with a subtle paw motion. <He always does this...it's best just to play along.> She advised, able to tell that he was really starting to get into his story. It was all fake and made up, and she heard multiple variations of the same story in the past week. She learned to adapt to this quirky habit of his, even if it was really annoying. Her only concern so far was how others reacted to his habits, not wanting him to make enemies because of all of his quirks.

Aisling was confused still, but as the two Wild Pokemon did not seem intent on harming her new friend, she was willing to sit back and watch, even though she didn't want to be here all day. Since Aspen was obviously curious, she seated herself and just settled to wait.
Understood. Thank you for the warning, the Treecko murmured to Rattata, then looked to Yanma once more, amusement gleaming in his dark gaze. Oh? Howso? he asked encouragingly.
Gossip: Thank you for the welcome, and the post as well.

The yanma buzzed his wings excitedly now that he had a fresh audience to listen to his amazing and exciting tails. He settled himself more comfortably of the ground and waved his hand in the air. <If you stick with me, I told her, I'll teach you about the wonders of the pokemon world! Many people don't know this, but I've actually been everywhere in the whole universe. I've travelled all my life! And now I hold the wisdom of the world!>
The rattata rolled her eyes, laughing to herself. <See?> she giggled, nudging Aspen gently. She watched as the yanma began to act out the day they had met and how he had saved her from the scary cardboard box in the dark alley. While he was distracted with his play, the rattata turned to the treecko, licking her front paw, <So what brings you here?> she asked curiously.

Aisling blinked as she watched the Yanma, her lips twitching slightly in amusement. It was very cute how the little Bug Pokemon was acting, although she didn't know the WHY.
My new Trainer and I are heading to the next town, he answered, motioning with his tail towards the young woman seated on the ground and just watching. We are enjoying the scenery. It is very pretty here.

------ WILD YANMA & RATTATA!
Their Treecko friend was starting to seem like less of a stranger, though neither Pokemon knew the grass type very well. The Treecko gave off these friendly vibes that made him seem friendly, instantly leaving a nice little impression on the pair of them. The Rattata couldn't help but grin and swish her tail from side to side in amusement, glad that someone wasn't frightened off at the Yanma's dramatic antics. <Smelling the roses, huh?> She giggled with a bright, knowledgeable expression. <I know a really pretty place if you want to come with me. There are so many flowers!> Maybe nothing bad would come from showing them her favorite garden, since they seemed friendly enough.
Meanwhile, the Yanma was listening in with great attention for both trainer and Pokemon. Taking them to the garden sounded awfully boring, and he had been there countless times. Surely there were better places to be than a garden! <Hohoho, can't you see? Our brave young heroes are battlers! As indicated by said human accompanying Treecko.> The Yanma simply had to butt in at this point, not wanting to bore his new friend with flowers. Boys didn't like flowers anyways! That was such girly hogwash!
<I say we go on an adventure. I know the wild lands where danger lurks!> Oh boy, this sounded like a wild ride. <Excitement is the best way to enjoy a place.> He continued, grinning towards the Treecko as if he expected the grass type to agree with him. All the Rattata could do was scoff in the background, feeling run over from her friend's strong opinions once again. This always happened.

Aisling cocked her head slightly as Aspen glanced at her, a questioning look seeming to be in his eyes. What were they talking about, these three Pokemon? she wondered, and motioned Aspen over with a wave of her hand.
The Treecko nodded, then looked to the two before him. A garden sounds wonderful, he replied. But so does adventure. And my Trainer is seeking more knowledge, and I more power. I do not wish to be stuck here for my whole life due to being weak. His tail twitched, then looked to Aisling again. Excuse me a moment. My Trainer wishes to speak with me. He turned and padded over to her, cocking his head slightly. How to communicate with a human who could not understand him?
"What's going on?" Aisling asked quietly. "And you can use pictures if you need to." Not being able to understand him was going to be a pain. Her family had Psychic genes, but she hadn't inherited them it seemed. They would have shown themselves before now. Sighing soundlessly, she watched as Aspen kneeled and began to draw in the dirt. Flowers began to take shape, as well as figures she could only assume were herself and Aspen, as well as the Rattata and Yanma. "They want to go see flowers?" she asked, and he nodded. "Hmm... We need to be getting on though... We can't stay here all day unfortunately." Aspen looked at her, then began to draw again. This time it was the path before them, as well as her and Aspen again, joined by Yanma. He seemed unsure if he should add in Rattata as well. "Does Yanma wish to join us?" Again, the Treecko nodded, tail twitching with pleasure. "What of Rattata?" He hesitated, and she smiled gently. "It's alright if it doesn't."
Aspen nodded, smiling. His Trainer was smart. Good. He trotted back over to the waiting pair. My Trainer would enjoy the garden, but we do need to be getting on soon. You are both welcome to come as well, if you'd like?

The excitable bug considered the words and he started to ponder it as much as he possibly could. >Hm... That is a very tempting offer actually. I think I will like to come with you!< He said to Aisling as he slowly followed behind. The Rattata was a bit more indifferent but also gave it some thought. She raised an eyebrow and immediately stopped to think it through but eventually came up with her response. >I think I'll just let you move on. Goodbye!< She said as she left the scene.
Now it was just the trainer and the Yanma. And the Yanma waited to see what would happen next. But suddenly, he had an even better idea. >Tell you what! You can battle me and then I'll join you!< He said. That way it was like killing two birds with one stone. Getting to train, and also getting a new pokemon.

Aisling watched as the Rattata left, nodding to herself. That was alright. As they went to continue on, Yanma moved to follow them, telling her that it had decided to come with them, causing her to smile. Suddenly, the Bug Pokemon became excited, causing her to cock her head slightly and look to Aspen. He made a punching motion, telling her what had Yanma buzzing. "It wants to battle?" she asked, and he nodded. "Alright. Why not?" she said with a grin, and he flicked his tail, moving to stand across from Yanma and readying himself. "Aspen, Leer!" Aisling instructed, and he shifted, staring intently at Yanma, eyes glowing a vivid red... The yanma swooped a loop in the air, excited to be battling. It felt like such a long time since he had. Was that because all of his stories dragged on too long? Oh well! This trainer and her treecko seemed really nice so he would be glad to join them, and maybe along the way he could show them the pretty garden he'd talked about!
But there was no time for thinking ahead now as Aspen leered at him. He cringed a little as the attack took it's toll, then he zoomed forward on his speedy wings and used tackle, attempting to knock the grass type over. This was fun!

Distracted by using the Leer, Aspen wasn't able to move out of the way quickly enough to avoid the Tackle, and skidded backwards, managing to barely retain his feet. "Pound!" He darted forwards, ignoring the slight pain from Yanma's Tackle, and leapt, turning to bring his tail down on top of the Bug type Pokemon. Well, trying to anyways. Yanma was fast, and there was a very good chance he would be able to avoid it... ::yanma:: YANMA (M) 4 Bug / Flying Speed Boost || Compoundeyes Tackle | Foresight Excitable - Imaginative - Overly Curious - Plays make-believe - Intuitive (-1 Def) Hit By pound Health is mid green Used Tackle The yanma was quite happy that the trainer had decided to have this battle with him, especially with a tough looking grass type as well! The earlier leer was helping hiim out that much though, as even though he was fast, the pound still managed to hit him dead on in the body, causing all of the air in his body to rush out as he dropped to the floor. However he managed to grab his breath back rather quickly, grinning as his wings took him back up into the air. "Nice move there! Lets see how you like this!" He shouted, before zipping away from side to side as he advanced on the treecko, before he lunged at it with his body, his mind concentrated on a succesful tackle. Unknown to him though, he was at a lower level compared to the treecko, so the attack wasn't going to be as powerful; however if he was to take it by surpirse, then surely it would make things more interesting? OOC:
Right, here's some info to help you out. Health wise, this is the pattern most people follow: Green: 100% to 80% health. Low Green: 79% to 70% health. Yellowish-Green: 69% to 60% health Yellow: 59% to 30% Orange: 29% to 20% Red: 19% and lower.
Now, if you was to take damage into account, so this battle for example. Your lvl 5 treecko was hit by a tackle from a lvl 4, so at the moment it would still be at green health. In comparison, the Yanma is at middle green health as not only is he being hit by a higher level, but his defence is lower as well (Just like the games!) So when it comes to damage, its up to you really with how much is dealt, critical hits etc. But try to imagine that your playing the game and how much attack would be dealt from the various levels you face. On another note, don't forget about typings as well! So a steel type would last much longer if a pokemon kept using tackle, comapared to a grass type being hit by tackle as well!
Hope this helps!

Aisling cringed as Yanma hit the ground. That had looked like it hurt, but this WAS a battle, It was going to happen. Reminding herself of that, she watched the Yanma as it moved in on Aspen again. When it became clear what it was doing, she smiled faintly. "Dodge it, Aspen, then use Leer!" she called, and Treecko shifted. He didn't manage to get ALL the way out of the way, but enough so that he was only clipped rather than hit full on. He ended up turning a full 360, but ended up facing Yanma once more, eyes again glowing that vivid red as he did what he'd been asked and used Leer, attempting to lower his opponent's defenses even more. "You can do it Aspen," his Trainer murmured, watching the battle. This was her first REAL battle as a Trainer. No more simulated ones, no more school arena battles. This was for REAL. It blinked rapidly to get rid of the shock, but he was surprised not ot see any other attack coming his way. Treecko darted forwards at his Trainer's command of "Pound!" sliding under the Yanma and attempting to leap upwards into him, rather surprised that he hadn't seemed to be doing anything other than watching. He hadn't recognized the Foresight for what it was, so didn't know he was expecting it... Aisling was intent on the battlr, excitement and adrenaline rushing through her veins. What a high! He shook his head to get rid of the dizziness, before he simply started zooming in in the treecko this time, avoiding the more complicated way to sticking with the nice old fashioned way of going straight. He was used to doing his fancy techniques, so in a way this made everything even better for him in fact.
