After the bit of the catastrophe at the Ranger Station, the girl was able to piece a few things together. First, that she had horrible luck for not being stranded in a place that resembled civilization. Second, people were not to be trusted. Even though the girl was trying to use him to slip out of her nasty clothes and put on new ones, he tried using her for her goods. Not cool man. Finally, she learned that creatures called pokemon were highly regarded around these parts, and that pokemon appear in all shapes an sizes.
Needless to say, she had been staring at her poke'dex for quite some time now.
It had only one entry inside of it, the pichu's data, but it was so fascinating. She looked at the picture of the pichu on the screen, and then at her own. It was staring at her with curious eyes, sparks flying off its cheeks and making high pitched pi pi noises. It was not surprising the girl could not understand poke'speak.
Now, however, was not the time to dally. The girl needed to figure out where she needed to go and what she had to do. She sought shelter under a canopy of trees that kept her dry from the rain, but she could not stay there forever. She crouched down to the little pichu and sighed, "You don't suppose you know what to do?" The pichu cocked his head, not understanding the girl.
OOC: I was thinking maybe a character or an NPC trainer could ambush Cora, since she was so vulnerable and make this into some sort of lesson. You don't have to listen to me, though

[STYLE=border-bottom: 5px solid #FFC7FF;] [/style] Suddenly a sound of panting in the distance could be heard, and a little girl's crying rang throughout the route. It wasn't unusual for her to be this lost, but she was slightly more pampered than most. The little girl had suddenly gotten rather dirty, and Sassy, her mareep, was following along with her. Even as sensitive as she was, and running alone through the route wasn't exactly th smartest thing for her to be doing right now. Whatever the case may be, she was still bawling her eyes out and suddenly sniffled as she rested near a tree where the trainer was walking. Lydia suddenly stopped for a minute, and her mareep halted to a stop as well. Both of them looked around the tree and peered for a minute. Until suddenly she ran ahead again, and decided to get off this route as she closed her eyes to continue running. That was until she put on a smile and was glad to see another trainer nearby. To resolve this issue, she suddenly just decided to start up a conversation with her as she had her mareep following close behind her. Sassy was sniffling, and still crying at having been lost out in this route for so long. "Hey there! I'm Lydia, you look lost, are you alright?!" she asked calmly, glad to have found the path, although she wasnt' going to be heading back to the city anytime soon. Lost Child LydiaAge 12. Female. The girl tried to pet the tiny pichu, but small shocks bounced off of his fur and it hurt the girl. It was silly, it was obvious this creature controlled electricity so why did she try to touch him when it was so wet outside? The girl was curious, probably too curious, and wanted answers. Hearing the cries from the distance, the girl perked up and finally stood. The pichu must have heard it also because he was suddenly alert.
The small girl appeared in their tiny, dry clearing. "Are you alright?" The older one asked, looking down on the stranger. Instead of wailing, she got an introduction. "I'm, uh...." She paused for a moment, but then quickly said, "Cora." She finished. Whether or not it was her real name, it was a mystery; however, it was the one she would stick with at least in this conversation. "Yes, I'm quite lost actually. Do you know where I can find the nearest town or city?" It was a little strange, getting help from a little girl, but Cora was not going to be so close-minded to not accept help when it is offer.
"I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing out here..." Cora admitted, "I must have bumped my head or something." That was an understatement, and she fought back a small giggle.

Lydia glanced around. The weather was clear so she should have been able to spot the path to the city, but no such luck. "UHMMM... I think it's that way!" she pointed in a random direction. Dirt paths worn down by many trainers traveling through the area hunting for pokemon were misleading; there was no 'central path', just a maze-like collection of bent grass and dirt. Lydia didn't seem concerned, though. "Come on, follow me!"
She hummed a song as she skipped, Sassy following closely behind her. The Mareep was more interested in meeting a fellow electric type than following her trainer, but obey she did. The static radiating from the pichu made her puffy coat curl even tighter, and she giggled.

Lydia seemed very adamant about leading the way, and although Cora was much older she was not about to pass up this opportunity. The problem was, however, was that Cora was able to pick up Lydia's lack of certainty right away. She only nodded and started following the girl into what seemed like more brush and forest. Her pichu ran in front of her to walk next to the mareep.
>Does she know where she's going?< The mouse-like Pokémon asked. Even if Cora could not understand pokemon, her pichu could surely understand her. The expression of worry was written all over her face, but once she found out where she was going she would surely feel better about the situation.
Out of the blue, the pichu was tackled down and smothered by an unknown creature. Quickly, Cora ran to her pichu's side and tried pulling off the spider-like being. It popped off immediately and rolled back into a little ball before getting back on its feet and looking up at Cora. She pulled out her pokedex from her bag, and aimed it at the pokemon, and it immediately registered its information:
Surskit, the Pond Skater Pokémon. Surskit inhabits ponds, rivers, and similar wetlands. They move about as though skating the water surface.
However, this particular surskit was darker than the one on her pokedex. She shut it off, and called to Lydia, "Wait up! I found something." She then turned to the surskit, who looked at her with scared eyes. "Are you okay little guy?" He let out a few cries, but Cora could not understand him. Jupyter, her pichu, cautiously moved toward the surskit and sniffed it.
>I don't mean any harm, there are just bad guys after me< The surskit explained to Jupyter, and Jupyter cocked his head to the side. Bad guys going after Pokémon? How silly! >What bad guys?< Jupyter asked, and the surskit began talking about this long story about being a "shiny" Pokémon and how rare they are.
Cora looked at the two of them, "I'll never be able to understand this, will I?" ::pichu:: OOC: I wanted to intro the surskit I got from the scavenger hunt somehow...:')

[STYLE=border-bottom: 5px solid #FFC7FF;] [/style] The little girl seemed very enthusiastic about her destination as she kept hopping from one foot to the other as a hand went up into the air each time. Sassy followed Lydia without question and even glanced at the pichu every so often. Lydia definitely just didn't mind skipping about, but it was clear she had no clue where she was going. They had just passed the same tree five times, and not once did she raise a point about that at all. Heading off in random directions really wasn't the greatest idea with her level of intelligence. Then again, she was only twelve years old and had a penchant for getting lost in the woods. Even after running away from home, but she was never going to tell this trainer that...nope. Sassy then wagged her tail a little as the pichu came a little closer, but she didn't do anything else to actually illicit too much attention from these actions. Well, there was definitely time to get sidetracked, but she suddenly pointed at the surskit. "OH IT'S SO PRETTY!" she said suddenly and bolted right towards it hoping not to scare it though as she suddenly stopped to start tip-toeing. Sassy once again followed, but she was very curious about the new pokemon that had appeared. Never having seen such a strange type before, <Aw, it's cute too, I like your yellow fur, the mareep commented on the pichu's fur being so colorful. Lydia was soon kneeling near it to get a better glimpse at the shiny surskit. "Hey there little fella, I won't hurt ya!' she said enthusiastically as she held out a hand to pet it. As soon as the girl began to bolt towards the shiny surskit, the shiny surskit shuddered and grabbed onto Cora's upper arm. She was the only person not clinging towards it because it was a shiny, but Cora knew next to nothing about pokemon. She did not know the rarity and color change of a "shiny" pokemon, so she did not think much of it. Lydia kept pushing herself on it, though, and the shiny surskit winced.
"I think you're scaring her," Cora said to Lydia, petting the ball the surskit had for a head and it nuzzled perfectly into her arms. So, it seemed these "pokemon" could have emotions too, and after observing the interaction between Jupyter, Sassy and this strange new pokemon, it was obvious they all had their own personalities too. "Maybe you should step back," Cora suggested to Lydia.
Meanwhile, Jupyter seemed rather flattered that his electric counterpart was complimenting him. "Thanks! You're so.....uh....woolly?" He said back. He was always bad at exchanging nice words.

[STYLE=border-bottom: 5px solid #FFC7FF;] [/style] Lydia decided she should take her hand back so that she wasn't going to scare the surskit any more than it was already. It wasn't every day you got to see a shiny though, but she noticed that Cora seemed to be able to read into situations more than her. What respect she had for the other trainer heightened considerably, "WOW! You caught that!? You must be a pokemon master or something!" she suddenly exclaimed, but wasn't really thinking at the moment. Sassy merely smiled at the thoughts of the little pichu, and didn't know how to take the compliment in return as she suddenly hid behind Lydia's frame. The small mareep was indeed affectionate, but slightly shy of the other pokemon there. The surskit was definitely cute, but she didn't want her static body to get too close just in case she accidentally shocked it. Lost Child LydiaAge 12. Female. Caught it? What did the little girl mean by that? Cora's head began to spin. The only way to figure out what was going on here was to ask questions because that was the only way to get answers. The surskit cooed happily in her arms, grateful that Cora was not going to attack her in any way shape or form. Cora gently pet the surskit's yellow top, soft and moist.
"What?" Cora asked the little girl, then cleared her throat and explained her question, "I mean, what did you mean by catching pokemon? I was given my pichu, I never had to chase it around with a net and cage." She knew she probably sounded ridiculous, but she was never going to get anywhere if she stood still and silent.

[STYLE=border-bottom: 5px solid #FFC7FF;] [/style] Lydia had decided that the surskit was indeed pretty, but she had another concern on her mind suddenly. What if she wanted to go somewhere now? Well, either way, she was kind of getting bored and had a fun idea. "I know! Hehe, why don't we have a battle?" she asked calmly, and wondered if this trainer knew anything about that. Well, it was just a suggestion, but she normally would like to see what another pokemon like her own would be like. The types were the same at least, but Sassy was really hesitant about fighting. No, I don't want to fight the cute pichu, I don't want to hurt it, the mareep complained. Lydia smiled as she patted the mareep on the head with her hand, and felt the static from her fur rubbing together. Seeing the trainer's reaction told her that she barely knew about pokemon and what they did in this world. An odd thing, but she supposed it was time to explain a bit. "Well, you catch a pokemon with a pokeball silly, not a net or anything like that. These are pokeballs, and you throw them at a weakened or fainted pokemon to catch it. Sometimes you won't catch it on the first try, so you might have to use another one. As for battling, well people battle with pokemon all the time, and try to get their pokemon stronger from doing so all the time too," she commented, and sure did know a lot for a little girl. Sassy was still shaking a little, but she would do what Lydia said without question. Still not wanting to battle the pichu at all as she hid further behind Lydia's leg, and pushed her face into it. NO! was all the mareep said, and shaking her head. Lydia frowned slightly, but then knelt down to her, "It will be okay, at least you get to fight a cute pichu!" she said, ignorant of the fact that Sassy was scared of battling the pichu, and surskit. This was all so new and strange that the pen and paper in Cora's head was having a hard time taking notes. Okay. So pokeballs are used to catch Pokémon. Pokémon fight each other. Pokémon battle to get stronger. Did Cora just enter a parallel universe? "Okay..." Cora nodded as the girl spoke to her. For a little girl, she knew her shit. Turning to the mareep, Cora saw that it was shaking. Was it scared?
Cora decided that she was not going to pit her Pokémon against the mareep first. "How about you go first?" Cora smiled. She figured she could follow by example and Lydia has proven to Cora many times that even little girls could teach a grown up a thing or two. Jupyter, on the other hand, looked at Sassy with the same apprehension. Boy, he did not like conflict.

[STYLE=border-bottom: 5px solid #FFC7FF;] [/style] Lydia saw the uncertainty in the other trainer's eyes but she smiled while looking towards Sassy. Suddenly she pushed the mareep out in front of her so that she could actually get the electric type to battle. Suddenly Sassy was shaking quite violently as she really didn't want to harm the opposing pokemon. No, I don't want to hurt the opposing trainer's pokemon, she said and tried running behind Lydia again. Lydia suddenly pushed her out again, and Sassy decided she'd deal with it. So instead she turned her attention to the pichu while muttering, S-sorry,. Lydia then changed her tone, and became more battle-hardened. Then she let out a giggle while saying, "Thanks for letting me go first, Use growl and tackle on them Sassy!" she commanded. Sassy was just going to follow orders to avoid complications in the future as she suddenly growled at the pichu to lower it's attack, and then charge straight for him. Sorry, I don't want to do this, but I have to, she said to him, hoping the pichu would understand despite her caring nature. Lost Child Lydia Age 12. Female. Ran away from her home in Ile Electrique. Some stuff happened, but I accidently modified this post instead of copying and going to the preview, SO here's my sparknotes version: Cora is confused with what attacks her pichu has and blah blah, but pichu used "tackle" even though he really does not know tackle because I'm a dumbass. The end.

------TRAINER LYDIA !
⋆Age 12. Female. Ran away from her home in Ile Electrique. Lonely and likes talking to other trainers. An energetic and lively girl, but sensitive about her family.
It was kind of silly dealing with a Pokemon trainer that was even more inexperienced than she was, eliciting small giggles from the younger girl. "Guess you didn't get a chance to look at your Pokedex, did you?" She asked with a mischievous grin, flashing her own with a boastful expression. She decided to lend Cora a hand by using her own Pokedex in the battle, taking it out and giving the Pichu a quick scan. The only issue was that they were moving around so fast! "Sassy, quick yer movin'!" She faked her grandfather's accent, feeling energetic and hyper as the Mareep endured the Tackle.
Sassy's fluffy wool made the attack a bit easier to endure, perhaps with some influence from her Growl. So far it looked as if this match was going to be a repetitive cycle of tackles until one fainted, but it just had to be an educational experience as well. <You want us to stay still?> Sassy tilted her head in confusion, glancing back at Lydia nervously. What was that girl doing? "Keep that Pichu still with a Growl, 'kay?" Lydia asked with a focused expression, still trying to get a scan on the Pichu's body. Great, now Sassy's wooly buttocks were in the way. This was not working out.
<You wouldn't move around and hurt me, would you?> Sassy cooed with an endearing expression towards the Pichu, growling to make herself appear as harmless as possible. This time, Lydia could get that Pichu for sure! Unless Cora totally beat her to it and learned the Pichu's stats first.

Cora pulled out her poke'dex, opening it and scanning her pichu as it stood still and took the growl attack. A list of attacks showed up, and Cora sighed, feeling really dumb for not going to this electronic device first. The surskit shifted because of Cora's movement, and is now clinging onto her back. Next time, she was going to keep her mouth shut and figure it out herself, because speaking without knowing something thoroughly was just plain embarrassing. Cora was thankful and annoyed, but was not about to show this little girl how irritated she was. She just smiled and scanned over the attacks. "Tail Whip and Volt Tackle?" She said allowed, not really commanding her pichu, but Jupyter went ahead with the series of attacks anyway. Pichu turned around and wagged his tail, smacking his butt as if he was taunting the mareep. He felt good not being attacked with something physical this time, so he went ahead and charged toward the mareep, electricity bouncing off of his body.

Lydia giggled, covering her mouth with her hand. This girl learned fast! Tail whip combined with volt tackle was a good tactic, and although it wouldn't do much against her beloved mareep, it was still a formidable attack. Sassy braved the attack like a champ, letting out a small cry of pain but otherwise staying strong. Her wool puffed up as she shook herself off, taking a step backwards to recover.
"Good Sassy! Now let's show them your Tackle!" Lydia called, twisting a lock of her hair around her finger idly. This battle was fun! She couldn't even remember another time that she had so much fun. She glanced at the cloudless sky, letting the sun's rays shine down on her face and drawing in a quick breath. It was good to be alive in the summer.
Sassy grinned at her foe, faking to the left before coming in for a tackle from the right. She squeezed her eyes shut, throwing all of her might into the attack.
