Abuse? Where were Pokémon being abused? Elani bit down on her lower lip and thoughtfully studied the Hoot Hoot. "What do you mean, Pokémon abuse? Where is this happening and by who?" she asked. Maybe she could seek out someone who could help her end it and she wouldn't have to teach this little Hoot Hoot. Not that she didn't think he should learn, she just wanted to know about any abuse that might be happening. He had a tendency to blow things out of proportion as he was thoughtful and liked to say whatever came up to his mind. Right when Elani brought up the abuses again, he realized that the girl was paying attention and felt a bit awkward now. >Well... Of course there are abuses. There always is. Isn't there?< He asked her. He didn't have any concrete evidence of a pokemon abuse occurring but he just assumed it was generally accepted knowledge. >You know, when they are overused. Or when they have to faint. Or, you know. You know.< He said. So it seemed there was no actual abuse at this moment...

Elani stared at the Hoot Hoot before her quietly, rubbing the back of her neck. She looked at Mystral, who was staring at the Hoot Hoot as if he'd taken leave of his senses, and then she set her Swinub down beside her feet and picked up a stick, sighing. "Okay, come here." She began to carefully go over the letters of the alphabet and the sounds each letter made, drawing them out for the HootHoot to see. The hoothoot gave a small squak when the trainer didn't answer his question at all! This mean tthat the trainer did know about there being abuse out there, but was refusing to talk about it at all. Did this mean that she was an abuser as well, but didn't want to indulge in what she was doing at all? Or was she someone that had witnessed it before first-hand, but didn't want to talk about it instead. The bird pokemon cocked his head to the side as he studied the girl carefully, before he hopped over to where she was, carefully looking at the stick, just in case she was going to abuse him. "So then...are you going to teach me how to write so I can spread the word of ummmm....how various abuse happens around in the world? He said as he looked down at the ground and the strange words letters that were appearing, but he had no idea what he was supposed to be doing at all.

"You have to start at the basics." Elani finished drawing out the alphabet and looked at the Hoot Hoot. "If you don't learn properly, then you may as well not learn at all. You have to learn how to spell, how to pronounce the words you're writing, and how to actually write them. And that's all before you start having full conversations." She sighed and narrowed her eyes at the Pokémon. "If there isn't any abuse going on right now, then what makes you think that there's any out in the world? You aren't very specific about what 'and stuff' means." Mystral :: Swinub :: Level: 8.5 [Oblivious | Snow Cloak] Tackle | Odor Sleuth | Mud Sport | Stealth Rock | Powder Snow Health is Mid GreenNotes

<Oooooo!> The owl-like Pokemon watched the trainer carefully while he listened to her wise words. She knew so much about letters and every single one had a different shape and form. There were even smaller forms of each individual letter. <There's so many..> The Hoothoot hopped around, looking at each symbol with a curious and quirked look on his face. He had no idea there were so many and yet, they made so many different words and sounds with you put them together with another one, or maybe three or four! Another questioned ask and the Hoothoot paused for a moment, his head tilting as he stared up at the trainer.
<Oh you must know. Trainers are cruel and mean to their Pokemon.> He began nodding as he continued with the answer. <Then.. some Pokemon are mean as very well..> What a curious thing to think about but, just at the Hoothoot was telling this to the girl, it was like he targeted himself as a snack. Slithering down the tree, an Ekans had been watching for awhile, hungry due to the decrease in food for the winter. Lots of easy prey had gone south but, here was an Owl unexpectedly sitting there, like a sitting ducklett. She hissed softly, grinding her scale covered body across the ground until she became close enough and then boom! Everything was so fast!
<Gahhh!!!!!!!!> The Hoothoot screamed out, the body of the Ekans curling around him so he would die a lot easier so she could eat him. She smiled happily, content with her new meal. What would the trainer do now?

Elani sucked in a harsh breath and looked down at Mystral. A thrill shot through her and she clenched one fist. She looked at the Ekans, and the uncharitable thought that she should let nature take its course struck her. The Hoot Hoot was being stupid and foolish. Clearly, he didn't have any idea what training was really about. Her bond with Mystral grew every day. Her Swinub was her best friend...her heart. "Mystral, use Powder Snow on the Ekans. Try to get it away from the Hoot Hoot so we can battle it!" She watched as Mystral looked around for any snow, and then gave her a droll look. Elani sighed. "You can do it, Mystral. I know you've never done it before, but I have faith in you!" Mystral grunted and zipped in a circle before stopping. A nearby stream seemed to freeze over, and she gathered the Powder Snow in the air and flung it at the Ekans, trying to distract the snake and draw its attention to her. The pain of the squeezing sent chills through the Hoothoot's body. The Ekans laughed silently, at least this Pokemon wasn't struggling too much but, she did have an excellent hold on his body. If she ate this creature, she would be full for a few weeks and be able to make it through the winter which, was one of the massive problems of the Pokemon world- finding enough food for the winter.
<Help!> The Hoothoot cried, not wanting to waste his wise mind to be some rat food to a snake out here in the wild. He wasn't being careful and let himself vulnerable to such a tragedy. The Powder snow came out of no where, falling peacefully on both the Ekans and the Hoothoot. It was so cold and froze the top of the skin like fresh ice in the morning but, the ekans shook it off, sending tiny needles of poison towards the Swinub.

"Dodge it, Mystral, and then use Powder Snow again!" Elani coached, trying to find a way out of this quickly. She hoped that the snow would chill the reptile and lock up its muscles, but she didn't think she'd be that lucky. Still, it was a good start. Mystral squealed and skittered out of the way, and Elani jumped back as the poison needles struck the ground where her feet had been moments before. She gasped softly, staring blankly down at the needles before looking up at the snake. She bit down on her lower lip. Ekans...Ekans...they were weak against ground-types! Mystral was a ground type! ...oh, but Mystral didn't have any Ground-type moves in her reservoir. Not yet. Although Elani wanted to teach her Mud Slap, they hadn't gotten that far in their training yet. Mystral didn't hesitate, sending another flurry of the snow at the Ekans, eager to do whatever Elani instructed. "Mystral, get out of the way!" Elani gasped, suddenly terrified for her Swinub. Mystral dove to the side, the margin with which she escaped so narrow that Elani could see her pig's fur brushing the snake's scales. She sucked in a breath and trembled slightly. The snake scared her. "Good job. You're doing good." Elani closed her eyes, reassuring herself as much as Mystral. "Okay, I know the snake looks scary, but try using tackle while she's close!" Mystral spun in place and jumped at the Ekans, trying to tackle the snake while it was occupied with its miss - near though it had been - and aimed to tackle the snake. -------- TRECHEROUS EKANS!
Getting annoyed with the Hoothoot and its shenanigans, the Ekans gave the ruffled up bird a violent toss. She had little need for useless birds, and having this idiot so close by when she was under attack was absolutely pointless. The Swinub kept dodging her attacks and she found herself growing frustrated with the ground type's sweet moves. She backed up and tried to swerve out of the Swinub's way, but Mystral wasn't dealing with her crap. Much like before, the Swinub dealt out its attacks with ease. <Are you sssserious?!> She cried out in her rage, touching her injured chin with her tail to kick the pain out of her. She could hear the Hoothoot's wailing in the background, and her head was starting to hurt from the commotion. <Will you just sssshut it?> She snapped, unable to deal with these guys for much longer.
She was starting to think that she messed with the wrong crowd, and that this was not a battle she needed to get involved with. Still determined to make this swine squeal at least once, she gave the ground type a strained Leer. Her eyes narrowed and the rest of her face darkened to further emphasize the horror of her eyes, which had a sickening yellow coloration. That wasn't the only thing sickening about this poison type, since she was more than capable of sending a person to the hospital if their immune system couldn't handle her poison. Pokemon seemed to fare better against her attacks, which kind of sucked, considering how she ate them to survive. <Ssssquirrm, you worm!> She sprayed out several weak but poisonous stingers from her mouth, attempting to frighten the pesky Swinub off.

Elani gasped softly, scared enough for both herself and Mystral when the Ekans leered at her little Swinub. When Mystral - brave girl that she was - just grunted gamely, Elani bit down on her lower lip. >You are not cute!< Mystral grunted to the Ekans. >Elani, she is not cute!< While Mystral was occupied with telling the Ekans how un-cute she was, the poison stingers struck her and she grunted. Luckily, her thick fur kept them from digging in deep enough to poison her, and she shook them off and glared at the Ekans before she blew snow at the snake again. >Not cute!< She snapped, as if she'd just made her point. >Not Cute Not Cute Not CUTE!< "Well...that may be, but I have to get practice at catching Pokémon sooner or later, Mystral, and I should send something back to that nice girl who sent Romeo to us. The gender-confused snake actually managed to hit Mystral that time, wrapping the Swinub up in its coils and beginning to squeeze. Elani could see that her pig was definitely hurting from the tight wrap around her, but she hoped that Mystral would be able to soldier through for a little longer. They needed to win this battle. She fidgeted, her hand on the Pokeball she’d pulled out. She could always throw it now, but…but the snake was still strong and what if she didn’t want to be caught? Best to wait. “Try to tackle your way out of the coils, Mystral!” Mystral grunted and jumped up, trying to angle herself so that she landed on a part of the snake’s body, hopefully to do damage and get the snake to release her. [style=padding:10px; text-align: center; font-size: 75px; text-transform: uppercase; color: #434969;] Pokémon ENCOUNTER The Ekans, trying to squeeze the little pig that was now in her grasp, did not notice the gleaming red shine of the Pokeball in Elani's hand. She was now busy with a thrashing Swinub that apparently was not willing to just sit there and allow her to eat it. She was flailing her head around trying to get her grip on the wriggling Swinub, and for a small snake like her, it was extremely hard! She used all her attention to bring the Swinub under control. <Ssstop ssstruggling!> She hissed at the pig, her irritation rising. The Hoothoot, now knowing he was free, flew off in a panic. <Ooooo, forget learning to write, I just want to liiive!> His fleeing was wise in this sort of situation, but it seems his sense of loyalty was weak. The girl and her Swinub were left to fend for themselves.
The Ekans, seeing the Hoothoot fly off, gave another angry hiss, now wailing <You just cost me lunch! Now you'll be his replacement!> There was a cold gleam in her eyes, one that displayed her disliking for the human her Pokemon. She was not going to be one happy snake if Elani caught her. Tightening her grip on the Swinub, the Ekans' anger was enough to keep her clinging onto the Swinub. She brought her angry face towards the Swinub, hoping to maybe scare the Swinub.

-------- TRECHEROUS EKANS!
Wooo! There was so much snow now compared to before, and the Ekans felt her legs freeze right off of her. No wait, she had to rethink that one for a few seconds. She never had any legs. What happened to her legs? She felt her body go numb as she started to sink into the ice, feeling her spirits sink as the Powder Snow continued to slow her down. Eventually she lost the will to move, and that gave Mystral her victory. The Ekans shuddered under its new icy confines, wishing that there was a way to warm herself up quickly. It was probably going to be a while before the ice started to melt, since the Autumn weather wasn't particularly warm at this time of day. She'd have to find a nice sunny spot to fix her body temperature, and she was going to have to do it fast. Cold blooded Pokemon had it a bit rougher than the warm bloods in the cold weather, and the Ekans could only lament as the trainer earned a level and bragging rights.
Now that this was covered, the Hoothoot was gone. Maybe if Elani really wanted to find it, she could try to follow the bird tracks on the ground. The area was otherwise calm and peaceful besides the trapped Ekans in the snow. A gentle rush of wind tapped at Elani and Mystral's backsides, as if it was encouraging them to move forward. The Ekans could only shudder as it was forced to endure more cold air on its body, but at least the ice was starting to melt. She was a pretty easy target to capture, but if you stuck around too long, she'd probably end up attacking somebody again.

Elani relaxed a little and leaned down to catch Mystral in her arms as the Swinub ran back to her to celebrate their victory. She hugged the Swinub close and stroked the soft fur before she spotted the ice beginning to melt around the Ekans. Her eyes went wide and she tossed the Pokeball at the unpleasant snake. She would use it until she reached the next Pokémon Center, but first she had to catch it. And when she got to the next Pokémon Center, that Snake was going straight to the trainer who'd sent her Romeo. She didn't want it. Not for keeps. Mystral grunted as she watched with Elani to see if they'd caught the Pokémon. She didn't want the snake either...she didn't think it was cute at all...but Elani said they were catching it for the person who'd sent them Romeo and Romeo was cute...the way he flew around and acted silly...so she would put up with the snake. [style=text-align: center; font-size: 30px; color:#318bbd; text-transform: uppercase;] Pokémon ENCOUNTER The Ekans was completely out of it in her head as the darkness swirled around its mind as it refelected on its pitiful performance that it put out there against the Swinub. So this made the pokeball relatively easy to land on the snake pokemon, before the red beam pulled it into the hi-tech mechanical machine. The ball landed on the ground with a clump, before it started flashing red as it rolled form side to side, almost as if the Ekans was trying to escape from the capture. The ball fell still for a moment, before it glowed red once again and started violently rolling from side to side, before it pinged and stopped. The ekans had been captured!!!
When the trainer decided to pick up the pokeball, if she was to look towards her right, she would see that hidden in-bewteen some overgrown bushes that there was a sign sitting in there. However it would take a good pair of eyes to spot the wood. If she was just to carry on, she would eventually meat an unusally withered tree on its own... ::ekans:: Ekans (F) Level: 8 Abilities: Intimidate | Shed Skin Attacks: Wrap | Leer | Poison Sting Mean | Abusive | Controling hit by --- used --- Captured!.
