It was another mark of how much his attitude had changed. The laid-back attitude he took towards training before was gone. Even when they were taking a rest from their travels in Cheyenne- here in Verona City and its Pokémon Trainer's Lounge, Warren kept up the harsh training regiment. He knew that his Pokémon could be stronger- and more importantly he needed to be stronger too for their sake.
So now as he stood in one of the more open areas of the courtyard outside, he and his Pokémon went about their training as they typically did. The dark haired young man and his first legitimate & legal pokemon, Scuttlebutt- sparring. The Beedrill was going at his master full force, with Wade using the wooden sword he carried in his back to counter, barely dodging the strikes of the yellow, brown, purple, and black Bee Pokémon and more importantly- its stingers.
In contrast, his Phanpy and his Totodile squared off, circling each other and doing their best imitations of Sumo, only to end up in a situation where a peeved Fragarach decided to spray her elphantine compatriot with blasts of water in protests of Cre 'cheating' as they sparred.
Besides that, his starter Pokemon- and perhaps the Pokémon he owned which was most out of the 'norm' for their type in personality, shot out blasts of electricity as it dodged, weaved, and plummeted to deal with the double-attack that was Setanta the Lillipup and its fire fang technique, and his Magby and its Ember. The super effective attack made the normally quite stoic Pokémon all the more happy to train in different ways, which was something useful and important in this situation. Especially with the number of fire type Pokémon used within the Cheyenne region and its cities, villages, and badlands- Wade knew all too well how easily he'd end up getting taken out in a fight with a Team Death member if Scrapheap wasn't operating in total top form- and so the boy called out orders, “Good job guys, let's get even better at working! Gimme your stuff faster, faster!”
And Scuttlebutt took his order quite seriously, charging and pirouetting, bringing up its speary arm appendage like a well placed punch, only to be half-batted back, half rolled under by the young man's rapid-fire response.

"The trainer's lounge huh?" Scottie mumbled to himself as he walked around the various rooms and courtyards. He stopped at one particularly interesting area, where he watched a boy or to be more accurate, a young man going toe to toe with a rather vicious looking Beedrill.
He pulled out the Pokedex he'd received from his father and let it's lens capture the image of the Beedrill.
"Beedrill. This Pokémon is an evolved form of Weedle, following its Kakuna stage. Its sting is highly poisonous. A Beedrill is extremely territorial. For safety reasons, no one should ever approach its nest. If angered, they will attack in a swarm."
Solosis bounced against Noah's shoulder, and the boy clearly heard the pokemon's opinion of the giant bug pokemon in the depths of his mind. Solosis wasn't afraid, but he made the off-hand remark that he wouldn't enjoy fighting the creature. Scott's Riolu on the other hand, growled slightly and began to struggle in his arms.
Scottie and his pair of pokemon waited patiently, their attention going back and forth between a Totodile and Phanpy and the young man and his Beedrill. Finally their training began to wind down and he approached optimistically. "Hey. That's some team." He offered, walking up, but keeping a safe distance.

It was the work-out that they tried to do every day, there were few things which were as important, and fewer still more important- than training had taken in the young man's attitudes. Battle strategies and endurance were important to the boy now, because not only did he have to track down the crimson eclipse once again he had also made a promise to himself and to all of Cheyenne [metaphorically] that he would fight Team Death and try to help the innocents within the region. So as the training wound down, and he finally was able to deflect the strike coming his way from Scuttlebutt. It was a quick but flurried answer, for a quick series of bokken slaps against the Poison Bee Pokemon's stingers were the solution to that puzzle. And then his attention was on this new comer, this fellow trainer- for his Pokemon made it clear that he was a fellow trainer. The icy blue eyes of the prodigal son of Staunchriver slowly flowed over Scott, taking his measure and making it perfectly clear that was what he was doing. The shirtless Pokemon trainer slung the bokken against his shoulder and neck as he did, reading the boy's body language and his remark- his compliment. With a winning grin, Wade found the voice with which he wanted to communicate with this newcomer- “Thanks kid.” there was an implication that 'kid' might be about experience, given that Wade couldn't be that much older than Scotty, really. “This is...” he pointed with his Elbow quite jerkily at his Beedrill. “Scuttlebutt. The floating hunk of junk is Scrapheap, but don't let the name fool you- he's a great Pokemon! The girls, my Phanpy and Totodile- they're Cre and Fragarach. Cre's a nickname of a nickname, but that's what she likes to answer to. And the two twerp-y lookin' ones, those are my artillery force. The Magby is Aed, and he's a good Pokemon despite his desperate look, and the other is Setanta. Named for CuChullain.”The young man rolled his shoulders then, swinging the blade in the air for a second as he did, “Then I guess you got me- Wade. Wade Mahogany. What's your name?”

Scottie took an appraising look at all the different pokemon as Wade listed their name. He smiled his brand of lopsided small towards each one in turn, and then shot the grin toward the young man in front of him. "My name's Scott Primrose." He offered, sticking out his right hand with enthusiasm.
It wasn't until a few moments later that the blob floating near his shoulder tapped him, insisting he be introduced. "And this, is Solosis and Riolu." He smiled a little shamefully. "In the Unova Region giving your pokemon nicknames isn't as common as it appears to be here, but I like just the same."
Scott set down the rambunctious Riolu that was now kicking and struggling in his arms. The little, blue pokemon rushed off quickly to greet the Magby and Lillipup.

The dark haired trainer from Staunchriver could not help but smile in his own genteel way in response to his new acquaintance's goofy smile, nodding at the words the youth said. With a roll of one of his broad shoulders, and a crack of his neck the youth strode forward and offered his hand for a handshake. “That's not a problem. The Pokemon trainers in my region typically name Pokemon as a sign of affection- but it's not always a name we come up with, sometimes we just find their names.”The icy blue eyed young man then rolled his shoulders. “So let's have a Pokemon battle, Scott. That's how you really get to know a person.”Then the young man reached his Pokeballs and returned all his Pokemon into their Pokeballs, before heading to the nearest PC. “I'll even loan you some of my Pokemon so we can have a proper six on six battle.”

Scott was a little hesitant, as he'd never had a battle that he could just win or lose. Most of his battles had been riding on whether or not he would get his face kicked in by tougher kids. The idea of battling now was exciting and almost scary.
"Uh... yeah sure." He said with a small amount of trepidation. He quickly followed Wade toward the PC, Solosis hovering not far behind him. Scott cast one quick, watchful eye back towards Riolu just to make sure he wasn't getting into trouble.
"So..." Scott mumbled after a few moments of searching through Wade's PC. "I'll use the Shinx, Zubat, Spearow, and um... the Paras." Scott finished picking quickly, though he couldn't be sure he'd picked a good team or not. He really only knew how to properly battle with Solosis. So this would be a learning experience in the extreme.

Wade tilted his head at the younger male as the went through his Pokemon PC, and soon the youth withdrew those Pokemon from Storage and deposited his Magby Pokeball, only to withdraw a mystery Pokemon for the battle as well. The dark haired young man nodded as they finished, then walked towards the nearest battle-ground, "Sounds like it's your first Pokemon battle like this- so I'll go first, to teach you. If you want at least."Without another word, he grabbed a Pokeball and tossed it into the air, soon a big grinning Pokemon that looked something like a teddy bear or bear cub... if they had ate too many cheesy poofs and were wearing a gown attached to their skin. His Munchlax, of course! "Baloo, meet our new friend Scott! Scott smiled that charming, lopsided smirk. "I wouldn't say it's my first exactly, but it'll be my first since I've gotten to Cheyenne." He said as he picked up the balls containing Wade's Pokémon. He weighed out which he felt like would be the best bet against the Munchlax in front of him. "Ah, I know what's up here." He grinned and whistled loudly into his fingers.
The Riolu that had been watching Wade's Riolu with unmasked wonder perked up quickly and ran over to get between Scott and the Munchlax. He was still the adorable little ball of energy that he was, but something that was genetic in him seemed to have awoken, the fighting spirit that gave the fighting Pokémon their classification was alive in his eyes.
Scottie had thought to use Riolu because he was a fighting type, and he knew they were good against the normal types like Munchlax. Unfortunately, all of Riolu's attacks were based off of other elements. "Well, here goes nothing! Riolu, Bullet Punch!"

Baloo was the true 'baby' of Wade's Pokemon. He was still learning about things and Wade really didn't like to use him much in battle. It wasn't that he disbelieved Baloo had fighting spirit, it was that he simply didn't think he had it in him to figure out how to make the Munchlax become the true powerhouse his species could be. The chubby bear like Pokemon didn't make things any better either- having tried to eat unopened cans of Tuna even in their most recent travel. Not to mention, Baloo started giving him puppy dog eyes and being a crybaby when he got hungry enough and it was a big time training block when that happened. So Wade knew that this battle would be interesting to say the least, but he wasn't sure how things would go just yet- until the younger male took such initiative and attacked so readily. "Baloo- get ready to roll out of the way!?" he commanded, but it was too slow- it was too late. Baloo had been busy watching the Riolu with a smile on his face and thinking he had just made a new friend only to suddenly be pounded into and sent into a roll. Scratches covered the little guy's body when he came back up into a crouch, and for a second it looked like he was going to use Pursuit upon his opponent- but then the Munchlax gave a winning grin to Riolu, part like one would give a lover, part like 'that all you got?' as he tried to use charm and then charged forward to bull-rush the other Pokemon with a TACKLE. Wade hadn't given the order to do so, but Baloo had it in him to be a fighter. He hadn't even given Warren time to say a thing edgewise about it. Scott wasn't too worried about Riolu, the pokemon, who looked much like a blue, bipedal puppy was tougher than he'd previously given him credit for, and it showed. The blonde boy hesitated to give out a command, but it didn't impede Riolu any more or less than the attacks had.
Wade's Munchlax's Charm attack had been something that the Riolu wasn't prepared for, but even so, the moderate sixth sense of the little Pokémon saved him from the effects ever so slightly. Ripples of Munchlax's aura gave away his intentions and Riolu closed his eyes, hoping to avoid the strength sapping cuteness that was Baloo's pretty face.
Baby Riolu's tactic was marvelous, as he cleanly avoided the tubby pokemon's trick. Of course, with his eyes closed, and having already received a stronger than average aura reading, Riolu was widely unprepared for the attack that Munchlax had leveled at him.
With a sharp yelp, Riolu was smished beneath the bigger creature and struggling hard and fast. Scottie only watched, his mouth open a litle bit as he tried hard to think of a way to free the little Pokémon. "Blaze Kick him now Riolu!" With the Munchlax trapped on top of him, Riolu tried to kick up hard, using his strongest technique in an attempt to free himself.

Once again, the training of Baloo by Wade didn't really get into things when it came down to these two baby Pokemon fighting. Given Baloo's slowness- it was no surprise that he was dodged by his counterpart when he tried to be cute, but the little bear like Pokemon's tackle did hit, and the bear was rolling off of Riolu when he was hit by that fiery kick. It was something that made the little bear Pokemon cringe for a moment, but then it remembered. Baloo was fat, as all Munchlax were. Not only was he fat, his fat was thick[/b] and so the attack hurt him even less than it would've- and protected him from being truly burned. As the bear Pokemon gave an unimpressed expression, he looked to his master for orders. As Wade watched the battle, his arms crossed against bare chest- he analyzed the situation and went over the moves list that he knew Baloo had. Riolu was a fighting type, the move set only proved that- so Pursuit was out the window. The other moves that Baloo knew were all cutesy stuff that were utility at best, too- so Tackle was the only real viable option. "Baloo, never hurts to go with a classic, use Tackle again." Riolu breathed a sigh of relief at having the heavy pokemon off of him, but his relief was short lived. The little Pokemon tried to scurry away from Baloo's impending tackle attack, only to find himself taking much of the furry butted pokemon's chest hard to his face.
Riolu skidded across the ground, his body now covered in small scratches and bruises. He stood shakily, growling in frustration at the fact that the chubby pokemon seemed impervious to his damage.
Scottie was worried about the baby Riolu, but it looked as though his fighting spirit had peaked, pulling him away from the battle would have been all but impossible. The little pokemon centered himself, his tiny arms moving up to his head as he focused on reading Munchlax's aura with Mind Reader
This would leave him largely open to an attack, but the pokemon needed a solid hit if he was going to win the battle.

Baloo came up from the tackle he delivered to the puppy like Pokemon with a roll, the little big eating bear like Pokemon circling Riolu in a perfect immitation of the circling method of a pack of Poochyena, one so perfect it might make them tear up in admiration. Then the little beast let out a yawn, and it's mouth twitched a little bit as its [non-existent] nose moved to take in the smells of the puppy using odor sleuth. The bear like pokemon rolled it's little shoulders in a striking mockery of its own trainer, before looking up expectantly once again. Up above and behind the king of munchies, Wade's hand moved to cup his own chin, the icy blue eyed young man's eyes flitting over the battle scene and then nodding as he tried to figure out what Riolu was doing. "Scott, what is that move called...? Baloo, keep it up. Hit it with Tackle.." Scott watched with fascination as Wade's pokemon sniffed Riolu like it was some kind of piece of meat. "It's called Mind Reader, and that thing isn't gonna try and eat Riolu is it?" He questioned with a grin on his face.
Baloo tackled at the Riolu, but in his Zen status he managed to just hop away, a little doggie grin on his face mirroring that of his trainer's. "Alright, hit him with Quick Attack!"
Riolu's body flickered out of view as the Munchlax blundered away at the missed tackle, he appeared near the creatures head, aiming a powerful kick in it's direction, before disappearing to the naked eye once again. Riolu reappeared in front of his trainer, looking winded. It was obvious that the little pokemon was getting tired.

The little bear Pokemon was charging with its full pace, indeed like a Pokemon that might be ready to be trying to take out a chunk of another Pokemon with its teeth, all the while with Wade responding, "No way, at least I don't think so. He's just using a move called Odor Sleuth." And then it totally blundered through the attack, and blundered any chance of counter attack too. As Riolu ninja'ed [yes ninja is a verb] behind Baloo like that, using Quick Attack- he moved to reach up and grab the puppy's body, to slam it into the ground. And by reaching he definitely made sure he wasn't going to dodge, inevitably being sent down into the ground and in a roll. <Muuuuuunnnnnnnchhhhhlaaax...> it cried as it was sent spinning almost out of the ring, coming up with some big scratches and glaring hatefully at the Riolu. For a moment, it looked like it was going to take some of it's dark rage out on the beast, preparing a pursuit but Wade's force of will snapped into things. "You're doing a good job Baloo! Don't even consider using Pursuit though, I know that hurt a lot but dark type moves won't hurt the little guy. Stick to TACKLE."The bear glared for a second at its trainer, before nodding and crouching, charging once more at Riolu for a tackle. Riolu nodded with a satisfactory grin, he'd accomplished a good bit of damage on the Munchlax despite being weaker than his enemy. It was Scottie's turn to take action now though. Riolu would be back into the fray later, but for now it was time for another Pokémon to show his stuff.
"Alright Riolu, back in your ball for awhile." He commanded as a beam of red light illuminated the little Pokémon and hid him away from the incoming attack. Scottie had a split-second to choose which would be the next Pokémon into the fray, and he figured Solosis would be the one worth showing off, being that Wade had probably never seen one before.
Solosis didn't need to be told. The little cellular blob nodded his whole body and floated out into the field. This caused him to take a tackle attack full in the face, but he didn't appear too disturbed by the attack.

Munchlax slammed into the little blobby Pokémon with considerable force- that was true, but that was it, it soon bounced off with a little bit of a jiggle, and came back up with another roll. It was an acrobatic little Munchlax, that was true- and it looked for a moment as if it was about to charge, but Wade threw his hand up. "Stop right there, Munchlax. I've never seen this Pokémon before and I don't know it's type effectiveness- I just know you didn't hurt it much with your tackle... so chill out for a second."And then his hand went to his Pokedex, in a holster upon his belt. Without a word the young man unfolded it and aimed it at Scott's Solosis, scanning it and hoping the updates he installed would work. Soon the Pokedex beeped back at him, Solosis, the Cell Pokémon. They drive away attackers by unleashing psychic power. They can use telepathy to talk with others. Because their bodies are enveloped in a special liquid, they can survive in any environment. The dark haired young man ran his eyes over the Pokedex having read that, he had heard the mention of Psychic, and as he read the type analysis he could be sure that was the case. Without a moment's hesitation, he nodded to Baloo. "Baloo, remember how angry that his Riolu just got you? Channel that anger towards his Solosis, the little blob. Use Pursuit."The little bear like Pokémon nodded, grinning widely before charging at the little orb and channeling energy, preparing to use pursuit, channeling the energy into his fist as he did. Scottie wasn't prepared for the little Munchlax to be capable of a technique that would damage Solosis so bad. Pursuit would have done more damage had he been planning on retreating the pokemon, but there was still the matter of it being a type that did much more damage to Solosis.
It was hard to tell that the creature was in pain, but Scottie could hear the pokemon's voice in his head. "Damnit... you've got a little more in you Solosis, I know you do." He grunted, as he mentally urged the creature to attack.
Solosis pulled himself up off the ground, and unleashed his most powerful Psywave on his chubby assailant.

Given the mental communication between the psychic type and its trainer, there was no surprise that Wade was not able to pick up on their plan- and there was no defense against the incoming Psywave. No way there could be a defense, really. The young man simply watched with a dumbfound expression as he tried to read the other trainer's body language, and then suddenly realized it must've been psychic. Becase why else would Baloo be wobbily staggering around now? The young man realized for a split second he had seen a circular burst of light from the jello ball of a Pokemon Baloo was facing. "Munchlax, hang in there! Straighten up! Hit it with another Pursuit, buddyboy! You can do it, I know you can!"The little guy staggered about for a bit more, then nodded, narrowing his eyes and charging forward with his fist pulled back and his rage from the migraine he now had all being channeled into another use of the pursuit attack. Scottie Primrose had not expected the violent attacks from the Munchlax, and had doubly not expected them to be so effective against Solosis. The young man was reaching for Solosis' pokeball, but could not reach the ball before Baloo was able to fiercely hit poor Solosis.
"Ugh, this is ridiculous," Scottie grumbled, annoyed that his first Pokémon had been beaten so thoroughly. He grabbed one of the fresh pokeballs that he had been granted by Wade, and a small, but angry looking bird popped out with gusto, flying towards Munchlax with speed and ferocity.
"Hey!" Scott tried to get the bird's attention, but the Spearow was aware of who his trainer was, and was just annoyed, and Baloo was the easiest looking target. He pecked at the Munchlax brutally.
