"I have to let you out now." The nervous response floated in the cold soon to be December air. The cold air nipped at his clothes, but the heavy Trench kept most of it's work away from him, keeping him warm. A pair of Greenish-blue eyes gazed uncertainly at the Pokeball in his leather glove clad hand, containing the Voltorb he had just received from the ranger at the lab. The ball and electric Pokemon, so said the young man's Pokedex. That didn't' look so bad after all. It was now time to meet the Pokemon who would be working with him.
"Rai" A flash of light came from the Pokeball and now on the ground sat what appeared to be a larger version of the orb he held in his hand. "Rai" looked up at the trainer. Shadow's eyes didn't keep contact with his Pokemon, though he managed a small smile. "I'm Shadow..." His eye's flickered to the Pokeball like orb. "Do you mind?" The Voltorb's eye's seemed to question what he was doing, until he saw the sketch book come from the endless trench coat. A pencil came from his long sleeve.
The raven haired man sat down on the cold ground, not minding the fact he was on the ground and his pencil flickered across the paper. He planned to get a sketch of everything he saw on his journey. That way if they ever went way, he'd have the memory and a picture.

"Who's there?" A soft voice asked, hiding from behind a huge boulder cover with snow. "What are you doing here?" The voice asked feeling rather curiously. "Are you lost like me?" The voice asked, before sounding to a hault.

The young mans eyes opened wide at the sound and he held his notebook tightly now. He didn't know quite what to do as he looked to Rai in front of him, who was curiously looking at the snow covered stone himself. "R-rai?," he asked in a whisper, as the round Pokemon bounced toward the rock. *So, who's lost* he asked the mystery behind the boulder in Poke-speech.

From behind the snow-topped stone did a pair of eyes peer with unquelled fear and inquisition. Peach-hued talons gently stepped for'ard, away from the potential cover the boulder provided so generously, and a young Pidgey came into view, defined so by chocolate-hued feathers and milder beige down. Dark marking offered more prominence to a pair of frightened amber eyes, and one could detect, oh so vaguely, that its wings were being dragged as though crafted of lead, and frost encrusted them in a less than typical mannerism.
"Pidgey... Pidge... Idgey..." [ I'm the one lost, sir... I got seperated from my family while we were flying south. I was too young to handle it... my wings... ] With a gentle sob, the pigeon lifted one wing, wincing as a sharp dagger of pain raced up the avian's spine. "Pidgey, Pidgey, Pi..." [ ... They froze. I couldn't fly... I fell and I fell and I fell until I landed here. I didn't know where I was, and I was so scared, so I hid behind this rock and I waited and called for them, but they never came. ]

Shadow lifted himself from his sitting position and turned himself around to see for himself, the small Pidgey that had been the one, hidden behind the rock. He gazed into it's amber colored eyes and noticed the fear they contained, recognizing it from the fear he saw when looking into his own eyes. The little pigeon looked all alone, and quite sad at that. His green-blue eyes then saw that the poor creature's wings had been frozen in a frost. Surely, with that problem, the little thing wouldn't be able to fly. He listened in to the story, a sadness now in his own, usually scared eyes.
"I...I'm sorry...," the words finally found themselves out in the open, instead of in his head. After a moment, he offered a few more words to the small bird. "I-it m-must be...painful....b-being so cold...I-if you'd like....," he began while opening his trench coat and putting away his half finished sketch, exposing his black turtle-neck, "You...could s-stay in my c-c-coat...I-it's quite...warm here...," he finished, not stuttering as badly as he had been. He gave the bird what he believed to be a reassuring smile. Rai looked to the bird, to it's trainer, unmoving from where it had been sitting.

The Pidgey opened its beak for a fervent response, but the bird appeared to stagger for a moment, keel abruptly to the side, and... die? Nay, faint. It was out cold, unconscious from the pain it had been feeling for so long -- useless wings still laying like stones at its flanks.
It's be ideal to capture the hapless pigeon and access something to heal its frozen limbs as soon as possible... the climate in a PokeBall, though swathed in mystery, was bound to be more accomadating as well. It was his choice, however. If Shadow left the thing, a predator would sense its lack of vigor and would pick it off eventually.

His lips then parted and if you were to listen, a small gasp could clearly and surely be heard as he watched the poor bird pass out on the ground from the pain of the coldness. Of course something like this would happen, you had to wonder exactly how long the little Pidgey waited there for his family, for anyone to come along and give some help.
He knew he couldn't leave the fowl to lay there and be picked off by the next higher predator in the world. "Rai...I-I t-think I'm going to...help..." The Voltorb watched as the young man reached deep into his bag. He soon enough found one of the orbs that he was to use to capture other Pokemon. "Here goes nothing...," he thought to himself as he stood up and tossed the Pokeball toward the unconscious bird.

Instantaneously, the Pidgey was sucked inside. There wasn't even a fight to get out of the ball, the red light immediately died down.

As the bird Pokemon quickly disappeared into the safety of the newly filled Pokeball, his leather clad hand picked the ball up, making sure it was safe from any possible harm. Instead of placing it in his bag, he made room for it in his trench coat for easy access later on when he would need it. He looked at Rai and gave another feeble smile.
"Ju-just for n-now...I'm...calling you b-back. I'll release...if I run into anything." The Voltorb nodded in his own way and was soon sucked into the ball that was his own. Shadow listened to the silence and sighed. Somehow it was easier with silence. He continued forth on the route, now by himself this time.

Distantly, one could hear another sound, shattering the preset silence -- a delicate, silvery tinkling of so many bells, a gentle noise rollings serenely down sprawling, tree-blanketed foothills. It was beautiful, appealing to the ears, and bore a distinctly enchanting quality that was entirely difficult to place but gorgeous any which way.
The bells seemed to now hold sway within the woodland, and even the everpresent rustling of the trees appeared to fall silent in the wake of such a charming noise. Would the youth, Shadow, investigate its source or merely move on? It was a plausible inner inquiry.

The sound seemed to be carried swiftly to his ears and seemed to have a gentle pull on him, a sort of grip that he wasn't able to escape from even he so wished or desired. So serene was the sound he heard, it was something he couldn't seem to pull himself away from. His eyes glanced around the snow covered trees to where the sound seemed to calling. Was he to go there and discover the unknown?
He shook his head, trying to get the smallest bit of curiosity out, still nagging the the small corner of his inner thoughts. He couldn't possibly go in there...but then, it was something he was supposed to do as a trainer, right? Discover the new and mysterious? His white teeth bit into his pale lower lip, giving it a pale pink hue to it's appearance. He could go...just to possibly view what there was, and if he got scared... he had the choice of leaving the situation at hand. This thought made him, even if he was still unsure, move his foot forward into the trees, blanketed with the white snow. He moved silently, but at a good pace.

ooc|| A food pace? Heh. Hungry, much?
bic||
The tinkling grew exceedingly stronger, piquing the interest of all within earshot... though loud, 'twasn't raucous in the least, a delicate one-instrument symphony. A flicker of red sped by bars of gnarled trees. A series of snorts escaped nine eager snouts, and trotting in sight with remarkable grace was a cluster of... Stantler? Their soft folds of beige and chocolate fur bounced visibly with each long, hooved stride, racks of peach-hued antlers branching skyward with unremorseful lordliness. Each bore a harness of crimson leather, studded with gold and silver bells -- eight of them were restrained in pairs, all situated behind a particularly impacting Stantler with a glossy, ruby-colored nose that blinked like a beacon every so often.
Best not to ask.
Anyways, the Stantlers pulled behind them a sleigh crafted of smooth, polished cherrywood, painted a shining garnet in harmony with the Pokemons' harnesses, with a border of holly-emerald. Sitting quite authoratively within said sleigh, reins grasped in either wing, was a penguinlike entity clad in a small, equally red robe and white fur-trimmed hat. It turned around, black-rimmed eyes blinking owlishly a moment, then the yellow beak opened.
"Deli, Delibird!" [ Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night! ] And with that, the generous Delibird drew forth its sizable tail, rummaged inside, and tossed a small, glimmering object towards Shadow. With that, the Pokemon-esque driver vigorously flicked the reins and away did the Stantler-drawn sleigh fade into the abyssal woodland.
[ Obtained Leaf Stone x 1 from a peculiar Delibird! ]

(( wow...so did not see that... Was supposed to be good not food XD *runs to edit*)) Blinking at what he saw around him, Shadow's mouth hung open in amazement and some confusion. After all, it was quite a rare sight to behold nine Stantler, clad in the leather reigns and the bells of gold and silver colors. He tried taking it all in, but had a bit of trouble, unsure if he should believe exactly what his greenish-blue eyes told him. It seemed like a mere illusion and nothing of actual reality, but there it was plain as the day's sunlight. He almost fell over with disbelief as the Stantler's nose beamed with the color red. He scratched his head still unsure of the whole thing that stood before him. Most unbelievable was the bird who sat behind the reigns in the gorgeous cherry wood colored sleigh. He gazed upon the bird clad in the holiday colors of red and white. It was like Santa, he thought to himself...only with Pokemon of course. He shook his head, still filled with disbelief but when he came to look again, it was still there. Might as well just accept this. He watched with wonder as the Delibird tosses something in his direction. He soon enough caught the shiny object and before he had a chance to see what he was given, the sleigh of nine and the gift-giving Delibird were gone, just as quickly as the seemed to come. He gazed down to his hand and what he held, was a beautiful Leaf stone. It took a minute, but as he stood alone, he smiled a real smile for once. "Guess I was a good boy this year?" ((Very interesting post btw XD))

Watching from behind a small group of young Christmas trees was a small frosted tree Pokémon. The Pokémon seem to have been trying to high from the trainer. <Aww, I just missed Santa Deli!> The Pokémon replied, peeking from behind the trees shly.

Still in the "I just saw something totally uber amazing" type faze, the ebony-haired young man had no awareness of the Snover, behind the growing Christmas trees. He tucked the small stone into his bag and looked up. When he heard the rustle from the ice like Pokemon, his eyes widened. He looked around, seeing no one but he looked hard, once again knowing for a fact he had heard something speak. He thought he had seen the Snover, but was unsure. Never had he seen this Pokemon before. It looked similar to the trees, covered in the winter frost. Just to keep some distance, he stepped backward, his eyes still glued to the frost Pokemon.

The Snover snickered at the watching trainer. This guy might be a handful... The Snover slowly walked forward approaching the trainer. It then began to wave its hand, signaling a 'Hello'. OOC: Short. Blocks. xU Enter/Return is your friend...

Okay, so it was officially a Pokemon that he had seen coming toward him, now giving a wave with his hand. Slowly and cautiously, he too raised his hand which was showing a sign of slight shakiness. He took one step back, still trying to keep a good distance between the two of them. Putting his other hand in his trench coat, he found his Pokeball with Rai in it, just encase this Snover planned anything funny.

The snover grinned shyly at the human as it stopped waving. "Snover Sno?" <Are you lost?>It said rising a snowy non existence eye brow. It grinned a little. "Sno Snover" <I can help you get back to where you need.> It soon began to lightly snow. The wind blew threw the trees causing a light moaning sound. The Snover shivered a little as it herd the moaning of the trees. It turned a little and stared a wide eyed at the trees seemingly afraid of it.

The ice-type's grin was met with Shadow's own awkward smile, his hair hiding one of his eyes and part of the scar that crossed the bridge of his nose. His hand pulled away from the ball, not feeling any threat from this Pokémon standing before him. "L-lost..." The word came from his lips as he looked around. The trees surrounded him on all sides and the snow didn't exactly make his location any easier to find out. He took a step forward, knowing this Snover could possibly help him from not knowing where he was. His eyes landed on the ground, blanketed lightly by the now December snow. "Yeah...I t-think I am l-lost..."

"Snover!" it said moving a little and pointing in a direction that led threw the trees. <"Follow me!"> it soon began to walk. It waddled a little but mostly walked. The snow began to get heavier and it was really hard to see to far in front of you. The wind also began to blow more, which caused the trees to let out louder moans. The Snover looked a little scared as it walked, its head was darting back in fourth between the trees. Even as the snow came down and blew all around them the Snover still seemed to know where it was going.
