Finally, it seemed like forever before he got out of that lab with his vulpix. Damn old men and their old cranky attitudes. Eh.. he'd be one of those not too far from now. Oh well.
It took a couple of hours to get from the lab and into the heart of the first route, but he was quite used to walking. A couple of hours was just a stroll to him, and now that he was in an area with trees and tallish grass, he was ready to see some wild Pokemon appear. However, he had an advantage not all trainers usually had - having two pokemon already. Thanks to a little event he was able to snatch himself a Farfetch'd. Though not particularly his favorite, it would help.
A rumble came from his midsection and he patted his stomach. "Hungry.." He muttered, looking around and spotting a nice log to sit on. sit he did, and dig around in his bag for some died meat to chew on. Mm. Yum yum. Sharper than normal canines made it easy to rip the jerky apart and slice it up while chewing instead of having to grind it down. He just hoped that the smell of meat wouldn't attract some unfriendly Pokemon. he really didn't feel like having to fight something else off just for food. Once finishing off a couple of pieces, he whipped out a water bottle and chugged half of it within a minute or so.
"Ahh.." He sighed and wiped his lips on the back of his hand.
hmm, now the thought on mind was, what would he be looking for next? already he had A Normal/Flying type, and a fire. The Next gym was Electric based, so it would be a good idea to keep his eyes peeled for rock or ground types. Yawn. Boring day, so far.

Smelling food a small purple mouse like thing, inched closer to the trainer in search of a quick snack to steal.

He stared down at the rat-like pokemon, sighing softly. Those were almost always the first thing he came across, for some reason. Not really what he needed, or wanted. Again he started to dig around in his bag for some food, Pokefood this time. once found, he tossed a little round pellet of yummyness out towards the Rat in hopes it would just take it and run off. The piece was big enough to las t it the rest of the day, at least. Ho hum.

The small, rodentine creature of trim lavender and beige fur crept warily towards where the pellet had lighted. A delicate pink nose twitched sensitively, whiskers glistening faintly within the cold half-light, and strong jaws gingerly enclosed the delicious confection. Quite to the alarm of anyone observing, the Rattata downed the rather large bit of food in one bite, salmon-hued tongue sliding contentedly around its muzzle to banish any crumbesque remnants.
A delicately curled tail was lashing furiously, vigor unrivalled -- it pawed at the ground, evidently unfathomably pleased with its recent meal. The rodent then yawned, exposing a pair of pearly whites that were more so the ilk of twin daggers than mere teeth. It then gazed expectantly to Keeve for more, still as a pillar of immobile granite. The rat was like a pigeon... feed it and it will rarely leave your side. A fight was possible, but not if Keeva desired to evade one.

He watched it eat idly, silently, ears flickering from time to time. Well, if not a companion, then a good battle at least. So, with a smile, he pushed the little button of his pokeball with the sweet fox inside, watching her materialize upon the snow covered ground, blinking at the blinding whiteness around her.
"Katje.. Ember." He said boredly almost, leaning over with his arms on his legs.
The Vulpix looked at the purple little rat, then back to her trainer for confirmation. He nodded, and she turned back around, and blasted out a little poof of fire at the rat. Hardly anything to seriously hurt it, perhaps just singe it's fur.

Licks of scarlet flame, rimmed in delicate threads of gold, emanated from the muzzle of the young vulpine. The violet-hued rodent, however, was unaware -- large crimson eyes were still riveted to Keeva with inward prayer for more edible offerings and not, in fact, even dimly attached to the Vulpixesque assailant. Fire lapped at and struck its lightly furred flank, sending the rat skidding back... a vague spray of snow was sent sailing upward by its wildly animate claws.
The Rattata's infuriation was certainly piqued. Whiskers atwitch with indignation kept within utilizing only scant suppression, it flung itself wildly at the far more imposing fox, evidently a form of Tackle conjured rather messily.

Messy, but effective for the fox whom wasn't paying attention. Rather, she had turned her head to look back to her trainer with a smile, for signs of gratitude and praise. He would have given it, but the fight was still far from over. "Pay attention!" The morph ordered, immediately Katje snapped her head back to the Rat, but too late.
Though smaller, it was enough force when she was unguarded to knock her back a few inches and fall into the deep snow. This weather hardly affected her though, she was plenty warm, and agile. Out of the snow she hopped, and parted her jaws as another puff of fire was released to the Rattata in close proximity, all the while wiggling her tail with excitment.
Keeva just watched the two small creatures with slight amusement, but this was all good training for Katje. And, perhaps, that Rattata. It would know better than to be so naive in the future.

This time, the violent rat was able to dodge the attack. <Hey, what's the big deal?> it asked, preparing to charge forward with a Quick Attack. <I only wanted food! Is that so wrong!?> Rushing forward with great speed, the Rattata was clearly too angry to listen to reason.

Katje leapt out of the way, but not quick enough! The rat slammed into her rear and spun her in a circle of confusion for a moment or two, until she shook off her dizzyness.
"And I want to get stronger, whats wrong with that?"
She mocked at the rat before wiggling her cute little rear, tails coming uncurled to execute a good Tail Whip from one end, and from the other another Ember. Clever little fox. She had done just what Keeva aimed for his teammates to do - think for themselves. When it came to the big leagues, there wouldn't be much time to sit and ponder what will be best next. That, and it wasn't only his own glory he was out for, he wanted to make these creatures feel accomplished, and the only way to do that would be to have them strategize their own attacks.
"Katje, we fight fair, remember that." The was the only advice he gave her, then fell silent once more.

The tale whip attack was enough to distract the poor rat. It took the ember attack full on. It hit the snow. The cool white powder easily cooled off his burns. The rat was once again back on its feet. It didn't bother to talk back as it once more rushed straight at the Fox with increasing speed. It was using quick attack.

His Vulpix had not been distracted so easily this time. Now, she stood there waiting exactly for this. As the rat popped back out of the snow, she growled softly and braced herself. Her chest puffed out slightly, and Keeva had to stifle some laughter.
"Emb--"
She acted upon her own in this case. At the rat came rushing forward, Katje met it head-on with a full blast ember, much stronger than the previous too, and possibly with a critical hit within it. The little vulpine apparently was tired of playing cames, and now was down to serious business.

The Rat was getting serious now. It jumped over the blast of embers. Though a few of them singed its stomach. It paid no attention to the pain now as adrenaline pumped threw the tiny rats body. It began to fall out of the air. Using gravity to its advantage it came down ready to hit the vulpine with a Gravity powered tackle attack.

It hadn't seemed that long since Karen left the lab with her new partner, April, who clung to her shoulder and watched the ground pass her by from being so high up. Obviously the little pichu was too excited being outside that Karen couldn't bear to ruin her fun by calling her back inside of her Pokeball, instead she grinned and bore the little creature's weight as April chipped and gazed around in awe at the scenery.
"Pii? Pi Pichuu!" April jumped off of her trainer's shoulder, running off into the distance.
"Ahh, April! Where are ya going?" Karen took off after her companion, skidding to a stop where the tiny mouse had halted to watch a fight between a wild Rattata and some trainer's Vulpix. "Well look at that..." She stood still, seeing how this would play out. The boy was probably in his late 20s, seemingly not too interested in the battle. He looked oddly familiar, giving her a sort of case of dejavu. The twitch of his furry ears suddenly brought it back. It was Moki's bother! She didn't expect to see him so soon..
"April, come on. We'll go see what's up." The Pichu climbed up Karen's outstretched arm and perched herself again on her shoulder, the ride smooth thoughout the time Karen took towards the battle.

Damn that rat, the persistant pest. He didn't even want to catch it at all, and it was giving him this much trouble. Katje braced herself and took the tackle, which knocked her to the ground and onto her belly witha small yelp. Bruised, but not beaten, the vulpine stood once more, glaring oh-so hatefully at the rat with those cute brown eyes. Unfortunately, Ember was her only offensive attack, and shewasn't about to have the Rattata run, nor could she afford to waste time with a Tail Whip. Slowly the fox backed away, breathing in deeply, puffing up a bit. She was gathering every bit of energy she had for this last ember, otherwise she was about to play dirty and start using herraw physical force: teeth and claws. Katje charged at the mouse, looking like she was about to tackle it and just rip it to shreds, but really, she wasn't even running that fast... she was judging where it would move next. It was then she let out a blast that could have been more of a flametrhower than Ember it was so large. If the rat moved, she would move with it, if not, he was going to be a nice, crispy critter.
Keeva just stood there with his arms folded, a smirk on his face. Yes, he had nearly a whole full party that he could use, ones that could knock that rat out with one hit, but he wanted to see the potential of his vulpix and start leveling her up as well. So far, it seemed she was quite the fighter, he'd love to see her as a Ninetales. A sound caught his ear, and it swivled back, along with his head partially turning. A Pichu... and a girl. Hm.. rookies. Attention turned back to the battle soundlessly.

Having seen the breath of fire come before hand, the Rattata attempted to jump away from whatever attack that would be coming its way, but found that attack to be much stronger than the last. Recovering from its previous dodge, it twitched momentarily at how strong that fire attack was. It would have defeated it surely, if contact had been made. From a distance the Normal type could sense the heat radiating from the embers that settled on the ground.
Shaking away its fears, the Rattata realized that it was wasting way too much time standing still, and did the first move that came to mind, Quick Attack. Readily it jumped away from its previous position, but its next spot would be after the Vulpix that attacked him so aggressively. Tail swaying with whatever movement it made, through its teeth the small critter gave an angry hiss before attempting to make the hit.

The wolf-man watched on, frustrated, but curious. This puny rat gave a good fight, perhaps it was worth catching. If he wouldn't use it, certainly it could be sold or traded to someone who could. A slight grin spread to his lips, and the girl who had come to watch was completely forgotten about. If she decided to hang around, Keeva would deal with her a bit later. Katje took the hit - she was tiring and that last Ember took quite a bit of strength from her. but now, the little fox was mad that she could not defeat such a small opponent. With a glare and glower, Katje whipped around to where the Rattata stood, biting and scratching at it furiously with her sharp little teeth, and slightly duller claws. She looked like a pissed cat more than a canid, and Keeva couldn't help but smirk at this.
"Focus, Katje. Loose your cool like that again and you'll be out of this battle." the trainer warned, his hand dropping to Eerie, standing by his side. Easily he could switch the two, and Eerie would crush the little rat, but he was giving his team a fair chance. For now.

(No specific attack. She was just trying any manner of hurting the Rattata - physical agression rather than actual attacks)

{Right ^^}
The rat retreated timidly from the fox, frightened by her sudden tantrum.
It only took a moment for the Rattata to regain it's aggressive behavior. Why should it be frightened by another pokemon who had seemingly trespassed on it's side of the route? No reason what-so-ever.
Even as the pokemon thought this, it felt within itself a curious emotion that only seemed to swell up inside it. That driving force pushed the Rattata to perform another Quick Attack on it's opponent. Swerving from left to right, the Rattata dashed it way towards Katje, yelling a high squeal of what it thought was a battle cry.
Either the rat was extremely brave or just stubborn.
