Tyro, now with a new Charmander in his possession, made his way through the snow-littered ground. He looked around at the whitewashed road and all of the possible hiding spots for Wild Pokémon. He wondered what their first training opponent would be. It was rather difficult to guess, but he didn't care. He knew that there were a LOT of different Pokémon that lived here. On the boat ride he had gotten from a friend of the family's, he had taken the time to study up on what had been known about the continent of Cheyenne. There wasn't much known to outside areas, but he did manage to hear up to that first city and the Gym Leader that lived there. That was definitely his first goal.
But for now, he had to focus on the situation at hand. He took the Pokéball holding his Charmander in his hand and opened it up. After a flash of light, the Charmander erupted from the Pokéball and landed on the ground on his feet, looking up happily at him. "Nice to meet you..." he said, crouching down to the Charmander's level. "I think I'll call you...Lan. That's what my dad named his strongest Pokémon...I think it's a perfect name for you. What do you think?" After a simple nod from the Lizard Pokémon, Tyro smiled again. "Alright...then let's get going." With that, he started walking down the path, Charmander at his heels. He hoped that his Fire-type Starter would get a buddy to pal around with soon.

A bit aways from Tyro, a pack of Rattata were together under a few bushes, hidden from sight. The leader stood before them and started to speak a few words. <Today, Rattata, we find new land! For ours is covered in snow!> The group cheered and followed their leader away from the bushes. But, unluckily, for one Rattata was sleeping while his pack went away. He snorted and his eyes fluttered open. Realizing his pack was gone he bolted upright and looked around. <Hello?> He called out. <Helllllo?> He smacked his forehead with his paw. <Oh stupid! They were leaving today and you missed it!>
He jumped out of the bushes and looked around. <Mom?! Hello? ANYONE?> The Rattata felt lonely now. He sat on a rock in the snow and crossed his arms. Sulking, he wondered if he would ever find them again.

As Tyro walked down the path, there was some kind of semi-distant commotion going on. It sounded softer, like a bunch of smaller Pokémon. It didn't take long for it to stop, though. Tyro simply shrugged it off and figured it was probably just a flock of Pidgey finding dinner or something. Soon enough, he and Lan came across a small rock half-buried in the snow. Upon this rock sat one very lone Rattata. Tyro looked at the Rat Pokémon and was debating on how to approach the situation. Should he just go for the capture right away? Have Lan just jump it while it seemed lost in thought? No, that didn't seem right.... Come to think of it, the Rattata seemed...disheartened. If that was the right word. As much as he would have liked to get on with his first battle as a Trainer, he knelt down to Lan. "Hey...Lan?" he muttered softly. They were still quite a distance away from the Rattata, so he wasn't sure if he was aware of their presence or not. "Can you go see if something's wrong with that Rattata over there...?" The Charmander nodded simply and started to make his way over to where the Normal-type Pokémon was laying. <Hey there.> Lan said, approaching the Rat-like Pokémon. <Is...something wrong...?>Approaching Rattata

The Rattata sighed heavily as he watched the sky. He felt alone inside really, his pack had moved on without him, leaving him to defend for himself. But how could he? He was only a young Rattata, he couldn't defend himself against a Spearow if he wanted to. The Rattata didn't notice the Charmander coming at him. Perking up his ears he looked and sighed. <Oh, well you see...my pack was supposed to move today and I over slept. They left me behind...> he said sadly. He didn't feel like talking about his feelings but he had no one else to turn to.

Lan heard what the Rattata had to say, and he felt a surge of sympathy for him. <Oh...> he muttered, tail actually drooping a bit. <I'm sorry to hear that...they just...moved on without you? Well...I'm sure they'll notice you missing eventually....> He was no good at this consoling thing. So, he decided a different approach. <Would you...um...would you like to maybe come with us?> He gestured back at Tyro and continued, <It's not exactly the same as living with your pack...but maybe we could help you find your pack again?> He was well aware of the large responsibility that he was kind of forcing on Tyro, but he didn't care. He just felt too bad for this Pokémon to just leave him there or battle him then and there without his consent.
Tyro watched his new Charmander converse with this wild Pokémon. He wasn't sure what they were talking about, but it seemed quite serious. He looked around at his surroundings one more time to make sure they weren't being snuck upon or something. Wild Pokémon could be tricky little things, after all.

The Rattata shook his head and sighed with his head on his paws. <I dunno...my pack is rather large, plus I was an only child. I don't think I would be missed anyways...> He said. He felt sad his family had left him, but it was mostly his fault anyways. He should have woken up sooner. The Rattata seemed to perk up at the thought of going along with new friends, but that was also the problem. He barely knew this Charmander, let alone its Trainer. Getting down from his rock he looked at both with a stare. <Well, I could. But I barely know you two. Why should I come along? For all I know you're trying to kid-nap me.> he said.

Lan heard the Rattata's questions and sighed a bit. Well, he supposed that it was only to be expected. After all, he had just practically been abandoned by what he knew of as his home and family. The Charmander was finding it somewhat difficult to come up with a proper answer to the Rattata's question. But, he found one eventually. <W-well...> he said, trying to find the right words to convey what he wanted to get across. <I just figured that...well, you were just pretty much left behind by a group of friends and family on accident...and I just don't want to leave you alone by yourself...so I just thought that you might want to come along with us. Maybe we could help find your pack, and if not...then become a permanent member of the team? I'm sure you could use some more friends...that won't just leave you out to dry.> He wasn't sure if that was quite the way he wanted to word it, but it got his basic message across, he figured. ::Charmander:: Tries to explain to Rattata

Sob Story Orerrr 'Ere { Rattata } Male
<I don't really like to battle but...could...could you help me find a place to stay? I don't know what to do anymore.> The Rattata's look was pitiful, and his whiskers drooped as he spoke. Trainers battled, and not a lot of them used Pokemon that looked like him. It was a depressing fact that made him believe that he wasn't able to fight for himself, so he never really tried.
<He doesn't have to capture me if he doesn't want to.> He knew that at least that humans couldn't understand Pokemon, so maybe this Charmander wasn't all that accurate with his human's wants. <I don't mind though.> He had no where else to go, and he was even beginning to feel wishy washy.
His ears perked up as a cold breeze went by, and he couldn't help but glance down at the snow on the ground to try and keep it out of his eyes. The nebulous mounds of snow looked so soft, but they were the reason his family had decided to move in the first place.

Lan heard what the Rattata had to say and smiled a bit. <Oh, don't worry about that.> he said. <I'm sure he'd love to have you on his team. He could use some help, after all. I hate to admit it...but there's no way I'll be able to just up and defeat anything in our path. I'm going to need some kind of help.> But then he realize that the Mouse Pokémon had just said that he didn't seem to enjoy battling that much. Not something he could have pretended to understand, but he understood that that might not be much of a seller for him. <A-anyway...if you don't have a place to stay, you can stay with us or we can help you find a place to live.> the Charmander said. <It's up to you...if you don't want to battle us, then you can just come with us while we look for somewhere you can stay.> He would have loved to fight the Rattata, but he didn't seem to be in any mood for it, and he was going to respect that. He looked back at Tyro for a moment. <And...while he can't understand what I say...I feel some kind of connection with him. I'm sure he won't mind just letting you go should you decide not to join us.>Tyro looked on, deciding it was easily the best decision to just leave this to his Charmander. He wondered what they were discussing so seriously about. His first impression of Lan wasn't exactly the soft, understanding type. But, he supposed that's what he was out here for. To learn more about the real world and his own, new Pokémon. ::Charmander:: Continues to talk with Rattata

The Rattata was still uncertain. He felt like if his family left him anyways then he must be useless. Why would anyone want him? No one would want him, he felt useless now. Hanging his head he sighed. <Well, if guys can find me a home...> He wasn't sure how to finish. This Charmander was nice enough to come to his side and ask what was wrong. No one else would have done that, all the other Pokemon probably just would have passed him. <If I join you will you make sure that I'm cared for?> He asked the Charmander. He was sure how he felt about the Charmander, a true friend. The human...not so much.

Lan heard what the Rattata had to say. At first, he thought that the Mouse Pokémon was only going to ask them to get him somewhere safe that he could stay. But upon his second question, Lan's hopes were up again. He was happy to hear the Rattata consider giving Tyro a chance. <Yeah...of course I will.> the Charmander said in response. <If he treats you wrongly...then just tell me and I'll teach him a lesson.> He smirked a bit at that. It was kind of a joke in an attempt to try to help cheer the Rattata up. He was sure that Tyro would treat him just as well as he was treated so far. He hadn't known him very long...but he could feel the connection that this human wasn't going to let him down. ::Charmander:: Continues to talk

::rattata:: is up for capture! The rattata smiled and looked at the charmander. The purple rat took a minutes silence before nodding at the charmander and looking at the trainer. "Okay. I'll come along!"

The Charmander smiled at the Rattata's words. <Great! Glad to hear it.> With that, he turned and walked over to Tyro. He jumped up and tapped the bag on his back. Tyro, catching the hint, muttered, "What is it...? Do you...need something out of here?" He lowered his bag down to the ground and Lan quickly practically jumped in it, careful to keep his tail flame from igniting anything. He quickly pulled out one of the empty red and white Pokéballs from his pack and lifted it up to his Trainer. <He wants to come along with us!> he said with a bright smile, glad to have already made another friend. Tyro was sure he understood what Lan was saying, and he reached down and picked the Pokéball up. The Rattata was still at full strength, so if he really wanted to come along, then everything would be fine. If Tyro was wrong, then he would probably be able to easily break free from the confines of the ball. What did he have to lose? He tossed the Pokéball in the Rattata's direction, in an attempted capture. Pokéball is thrown!

The Rattata was taken inside the Pokeball's grasp and let it capture him. It was nice inside really, nothing like he was thinking of. He was rather happy now he had a home and maybe he could get stronger. Happily, he let the Pokeball capture him as he was on his way to a new life.

Once the Rattata was successfully captured, Tyro smiled and picked the Pokéball up off of the ground. "Well, that's my first successful capture...and I didn't even have to fight him. You did great, Lan." He quickly opened the Pokéball again, letting the Rattata back out. "If you want to, you can just walk with us. I'm sure Lan will be more than willing to give you a ride since he's such a great friend." He chuckled a bit at that, only to get a slight glare from his Charmander. He didn't seem pleased with the idea of giving this little guy a ride. But the Rattata, not noticing the sarcasm, gave a happy nod and promptly clambored up Lan's tail and jumped on top of his head, happy to have a nice spot to stop and rest for a while. He had a feeling this new life was just what he had been looking for. Together, they all started walking along the road, Tyro even letting out his third Pokémon, Haru, whom he had only recently acquired. The Riolu, Rattata and Charmander all walked by his side as they continued down the path. ::Charmander:: ::Riolu:: ::Rattata:: All Pokémon let out and follow along

HONEY SNATCHER!
<Epppppp!!!> Zooming towards Tyro was a worker male Combee. <Help meeee!> He yelled, his eyes streaming with tears as they flew back to show what was chasing him. <GET BACK HERE!> A booming voice yelled. Flying up from behind a hill a Zubat flapped his wings and caught up with the Combee. <YOU'RE GONNA TELL ME WHERE THAT NEST OF YOURS IS!> <EPPPP!> Was all the Combee could manage to say. The pair zoomed past Tyro and his following group of Pokemon. Clearly in need of help the Combee hid behind a tree out of sight. <Come out come out wherever you are!> The Zubat taunted.

The Combee and the Zubat's sudden appearance caught everybody by surprise. And everybody showed it...at least, except for Haru, who just crossed his arms and watched the scene unfold. This wasn't the time and place for him, that was for sure. There was no way that Zubat would be worth his time. On the other hand, Lan and the still-unnamed Rattata watched the action carefully. It looked like that Combee was in need of a bit of help there...and Tyro might be willing to help. But before he could say or command anybody, Lan was already making his way over. <Hey you!> Lan called out, pointing at the Zubat. <You stop chasing that Combee around like that! Why don't you try picking on somebody your own size, huh?> He was practically asking for a declaration of war...Tyro just hoped he knew what he was getting himself into. ::Charmander:: Challenges Zubat

{Zubat} Supersonic on Charmander
|
<Picking on him? Me? Oh no, I was being effin courteous!> The Zubat spat when he realized that the Charmander was getting in his way. Seeing that he was distracted, the Combee didn't hesitate in getting the heck out of here, not wanting his hive to suffer just because he told a really important secret. <And look what you did, he ran away! Now I have to find that hive by myself!> He hissed, getting annoyed that he was being challenged to a fight.
The maleness in him couldn't refuse, because come on, he was a man. Men don't lose. With the duel accepted, he fluttered in the wind as if he was as flexible as a leaf, making some fancy twists in the air in an attempt to intimidate his opponent.
<You are going to regret this, punk.> Right then, the Zubat screamed out his frustrations. Actually, it only looked like a scream to humans, but Pokemon had much more sensitive hearing. That one sound had the ability to cause confusion if a Pokemon listened to it enough, though regrettably, it wasn't very accurate.

Tyro reached up to cover his ears at the loud screeching noise. But no matter how hard he tried to plug them up, he just couldn't seem to block out the noise. He cringed thinking about what kind of pain a Pokémon listening in to this would feel. With that thought in mind, Tyro deemed it necessary to pull out a couple of Pokéballs and return Haru and Ron, which he had decided to name his Rattata, back into their Pokéballs. He didn't want them and their sensitive hearing to get hurt by such a loud noise. Lan, on the other hand, didn't seem to be in as much trouble as the others were. He managed to shake it off. At the very least, he was able to do it this time. He looked back at Tyro and saw that he was busy fending off the noise himself...so he decided to take things into his own claws. He opened his mouth and started pelting a barrage of mini-fireballs towards the Bat Pokémon, trying to knock him out of the air with a strong Ember attack. ::Charmander:: Dodged Supersonic Used Ember on Zubat [Dodges: 1]
