Elsu let out an indignant squawk when he was once again hit with the string shot, the sticky tendrils preventing him from moving as he would please. He was now low on the ground, not somewhere he enjoyed. If only he could get one solid hit on that stupid bug, he'd have it for breakfast. Soren's words, though few, were just loud enough for him to discern his commands. " Sand, Cover, Peck. Oriole; Lower and Attack." With the leek still held by one of his wings, the Farfetch'd quickly took it in his beak before lowering himself even more until he was nearly touching the ground. Then, with a series of rapid beats of his wing while his claws grabbed onto a root, he lifted up the light dirt particles from the ground, sending it toward Kid. Elsu then used the build-up tension to shoot himself rapidly through the cloud of sand and dirt and charged toward his target, beak first. Oriole had barely dodged the attack shot toward her, scrambling to fly to a safer position. Her smaller size was fortunate for her, allowing most of the poisonous needles to fly pass her, though a stray shot did manage to nick at her wing. She did not allow the pain to deter her from her duty as she regained her stability in the air and descended back toward the pesky Beedrill. As she flew, she used a quick Leer while she closed the distance before preparing for a Peck, her beak growing in size once again. ::Natu:: ::Farfetch'd:: Oriole // Elsu Leer // Snd Atk Peck // Peck

The Butterfree's compound eyesight hardly ever failed her, even when the sand was kicked up towards her. However, the temporary cover made her have to squint to see the bird coming, and by then it was too late to attempt a dodge. She was hit critically with the peck, right in her chest. A bit of bug blood dripped from her wound, and she screeched in pain. She flew backwards and perched on the ground for a second, panting deeply. <It.. it hurts...> She moaned, the pain from her wounds affecting her.
<Kid! Are you okay!?> Drill yelled, worried for his partner's health. She nodded slightly, but it was not earnest; she knew she would fall soon to these opponents. Hissing angrily, the bee turned back and saw the small bird descending towards him. Quickly he jumped away to avoid her sharp beak, then closed the distance. His fury compelled him to act without listening for his trainer's orders, raising his arms and preparing to jab the bird multiple times for a Fury Attack.
"That's good, Drill! Kid, support him and use Confusion on Natu!" The bug trainer yelled, his eyes betraying a bit of worry for the battle. It was clear that his pokemon weren't doing too well against the two bird types.
The Butterfree staggered a little getting her footing, but flapped her wings and managed to raise herself again. With what force she could muster, she flew till she was a distance from her partner Beedrill and aimed telekinetic waves at the little green bird.

Oriole let out a chirp and quickly tried to evade it, flapping her little wings as fast as she could, but the Fury Attacks hit her first, the Beedrill pounding her fragile body over and over again, while the Confusion also took effect. The pain from the psychic attack was lowered on account that she was also a psychic pokemon, but it still did quite a lot of damage to her. The double attack drained her of the last of her energy and, as she fell, she used one last leer at her attackers. Soren's face remained passive as he watched his little natu hit the ground, not a single emotion crossing his face. If one were to look carefully though, they would notice his first clench just a bit as wind started to gather and whirlpool at his feet, just enough to make the grass sway a bit. "Cover and Kill." He spoke with a chilling calmness that even Elsu wasn't too happy to hear, but followed his orders. The bird would not allow his partner's last attack go in vain and quickly summoned up another sand attack towards both his opponents and aimed a peck towards the Butterfree once again, determined to finish it off. He felt the wind shift around him, feeling the rage of his trainer underneath the calm surface, and Elsu flew just a bit faster. If he did not get rid of one of them, then the two opposing Pokémon would easily finish him off by double teaming him. Oriole // Elsu Leer // Snd Atk+Peck

The Butterfree felt a satisfaction as the little bird descended from the double attack that the two bugs executed. She knew she wouldn't be able to dodge the peck that the Farfetch'd had aimed at her, so she stayed where she was, eyes betraying her drowsiness as the last of her energy drained. <Kid? Kid!!!> The Beedrill hissed, as he realized that his butterfly friend had given up on reaching the end of the battle. He flew down to her and attempted to grasp her body with his talons, struggling to pull her, but this maneuver only succeeded in moving her just slightly. Her eyes widened as she realized what he was doing, and she used the last of her energy to shove him away just before the Farfetch'd pecked her soft flesh.
She was tossed backwards like a rag doll, and laid there on the soft grass as her pierced wing fluttered weakly in the wind. She allowed herself a few more moments to watch the clouds above before her vision dimmed. Evan held out her pokeball and called her back in a tint of red light, sighing. He always hated to see the gentle, beautiful butterfree fall to his opponents. "Beedrill, use Poison Sting on Elsu," He commanded.
The Beedrill floated there, staring at the place where Kid laid before, until he heard his trainer's commanding voice once again and his mind flew back to the battle. Raising both his sharp claws, he dashed towards the Farfetch'd. He felt a surge of rage for his fallen friend.

Soren watched the exchange between the two bug Pokémon before the Butterfree finally fainted. The Beedrill was quite dangerous now, though, and he would have to be careful. Elsu was at his limits as well, thought clutching onto his stick for dear life, adrenaline pumping through both trainer and Pokémon. " Steel, fall back." Elsu did not quite understand what his trainer was commanding him to do. The poison needles were coming at him rapidly and he had no time for an attack before retreating. The string shots he had taken earlier were still affecting his speed and he was about to be pincushionned by the Beedrill's attack when his trainer once again commanded him, " Steel Up." So he did, and suddenly his wings were coated in thousands of tiny steel blades that cut through the sticky substance and deflected some of the poison needles. The attack was not a complete failure, as he did feel some needles pierce through his flesh, though not quite enough to poison him. Quickly, before the steel faded, he flew towards the Beedrill, the sun reflected off the metallic surface, bent on slicing the bug with his coated wings despite the lack of orders from his trainer. Beedrill had managed to hurt the Farfetch'd a little, so he smirked a little bit. However, the bird then came at him with glistening silver wings, his actions mirroring that of a machete-bearer. Beedrill had been close to the bird, so he didn't have enough time to fully dodge the attack - as a result, the sharp feathers sliced through his wings, causing him to fly unevenly. He descended a bit before flapping his wings harder and managing to stay airborne. Some of his energy would be spent keeping himself aloft.
"Drill, use Fury Attack!" Shouted the trainer, knowing the bird probably had the upper hand in this battle. They were close-matched, but his beedrill wouldn't hold up well with labored flight.
The bee heard his trainer's call and zipped around the bird, finally stopping when he was directly on her right side. Then he closed the distance between them, unforgiving white claws shining in the light as he aimed them at the bird's wing. Maybe harming Elsu's flight would even the playing field a bit, he thought.

Elsu's blood was pumping, almost tunneling his vision as he struggled to stay in the battle. The bird was sore everywhere and wanted to rest, but at the same time the adrenaline was pumping him up, telling him to go go go and fly fly fly. His wings faded back into their normal brown plumage and he was taking a second to reassess the situation when he heard the opposing trainer call out a command. Soren's voice followed suit, telling him " Up!", where the Beedrill will have more trouble catching him. The Farfetch'd was still unable to completely dodge the attack and was hit once, then twice, and a third time before he managed to get away. "Stat Down and Attack!" His trainer did not even give him a second to regain his composure after he was hit before issuing another command. At least he did not have that much distance to close between him and the bug as he flew down, using the Leer attack to maximize his Peck. His flying was a bit shaky and he hoped that this attack would hit. Right as he was transitioning from the Leer to the Peck, he flung his stick towards the Beedrill, hoping to distract it just enough to land the hit. ::Farfetch'd:: Elsu Leer (Distraction!stick) Peck

Beedrill had managed to get three hits of his Fury Attack in, but now he was at a disadvantage - his injured wings would not allow him to fly around too easily now, and there was only a small distance to cross between he and his opponent.
Then Elsu did a strange thing - he tossed his stick, which Drill evaded, thinking it was some sort of attack. However, this mistake cost him. Elsu's peck tore his flesh critically, blood spilling from the wound. Horrible pain made the bee screech, then fall as the last of his energy failed him. His last view was the sky around the bird that had defeated it.
Soren has won the battle! Both participating pokemon gain 2 levels!
Evan called back his pokemon and sighed with defeat. "Well, great match. It was exciting, I guess." he said, tossing a bag of money at Soren as he turned tail and left. He'd really been expecting to win the match, but oh well.

The moment the other trainer rounded the bend, Soren briskly walked towards his fallen Pokémon. He went to Oriole first, the bird Pokémon delirious and more or less fainted. He offered a rare smile at the natu. The wind arround him had calmed after the battle and now he was using it to gently craddle the Pokémon before returning her to a pokeball. When she was secure, he went to Elsu who was still standing, but barely. He helped him pick up his stick, handing it to the bird, before returning him to his pokeball as well.
He slipped the Pokémon into his pouch so they could rest a bit until he found somewhere to heal them. In the meantime, he had other Pokémon that he could depend on. They were slightly higher levelled, and Oosu was just astronomically high compared to his others. He was really there as a backup in case all else failed. Soren tried not to think about the beautiful shadow Pokémon he had traded away for the bird. The Swellow was gorgeous in his eyes, despite his common sense telling him that he should shy away from the creature his father's clan morphed into, but he still could not resist the sheen on the majestic bird's feathers. Just thinking about it made his skin tingle in a not-so-pleasant way.
At any case, Soren had wasted enough time. He had to keep walking towards the city. And maybe figure out where the extra pokeball had come from.

It was a long time Soren walked until finally a Pokémon decided to interrupt him. A jigglypuff saw the trainer tramp by and was struck with curiosity. She decided to follow him and see if he'd do anything interesting.
After a while, when he'd not done anything interesting besides walk briskly towards the city, the puffball Pokémon huffed and jumped in his path. Cupping her hands, she decided to sing him a song.

Soren wanted to ignore the sound, but the more he walked, the drowsier he became, despite all his attempts to stay awake. His eyes already heavy, he took out his pokedex. The red machine started to spew out information, but thought he tried to remember it all, the only words that stuck was jigglypuff, song, sleep. At least he knew the source of his drowsiness. Groggily, he shoved his hand inside his pouch and threw the first pokeball he could find at the pink pokemon, but before the ball could hit, it released the Pokémon that was inside. The red light cleared to show a rather weird-looking pokemon, blue in color and nestled in what seemed to be a little cloud. The trainer stared at the Pokémon for a bit, the arrival waking him a tad. The pokedex started up again. Apparently, during his stasis, someone had given him a... Swablu? At this point, he didn't care. Scrolling down to the attack list, he told his pokemon to use astonish. ooc; Swablu is the August Promo, Soren doesn't know/realize that Astonish is a ghost attack

Thinking it funny how the man's reaction to his song was the same of any other Pokemon, the Jigglypuff continued with his song uninterrupted. Only did he stop out of curiosity when the man released a contraption known as a 'Pokeball', and some exotic bird emerged from it. It looked as soft as one of the clouds in the sky, and with the cute expression on its face, the Jigglypuff simply wanted to hug it.
<Hello there, friend~> He started, but the bird suddenly grew scary big and attempted to knock him over. With his rubbery body allowing him to squeeze right by the attack, he was left unfazed and unfrightened of the bird.
<Now that wasn't very nice.> He grumbled, puffing up as big as a balloon. Ugh, some Pokemon just didn't want to be friends, did they? That made him so...so...mad. The Jigglypuff started Singing in an attempt to soothe the bird's soul.

This was why knowledge was important. The previous attack did absolutely nothing and Soren was finding it hard to stay awake. The song had to be stopped -- he just spent over two years sleeping away his life and this Jigglypuff was not going to make him waste any more time dozing off when he was perfectly awake mere seconds ago. The swablu wanted to respond to the other pokemon, telling him that it wasn't he fault, she was just taking orders, but the beautiful, wonderful, song was... making her... rather... "Peck!" Soren had never put so much emotion into his commands. This was an absolute order, the tone of his voice making it clear that he wanted it done right away. Acting out of instinct, the Swablu's beak enlarged and she beat her featherless wings and charged towards the Jigglypuff once again. ::Swablu:: Peck

The Jigglypuff was too immersed in the beauty of his own song to notice the cloud-winged bird diving towards him. Swablu's beak scratched past the puffball's cheek, leaving a scratch where she'd rushed past.
Immediately the pink pokemon ceased singing its lullaby, pain from the peck too much of a distraction to ignore. Jigglypuff felt the blood well up on his cheek, and as he pressed his paw to his face, felt the red droplets sticking to his fingers. A sly grin on his face, he turned back to the bird and used Faint Attack, an attack he had known ever since he was born. Stealing towards the swablu he pretended to be disarmed, then threw a punch in the bird's direction.

The Swablu did not expect that. The Jigglypuff had... he tricked her! lured her in before punching her right in the chest. It hurt! She let out a pained cry, asking the Jigglypuff what that was for, before recovering a bit and using her wings to hover a bit higher away. She then let out a little huff. Fighting really wasn't her style. She would much rather lounge in the sun all day, relaxing in the breeze, allowing her wings to carry her wherever they would take her. "Swablu, peck." But duty called, and she took her duty very seriously. Listening to ones trainer was the most important thing in a tame pokemon's life. The flying pokemon let out a cutesy growl as she floated slowly down to the Jigglypuff's level, and when she got close, attacked with a violent peck, losing the docile facade the growl had created. ::Swablu:: Growl Peck

The Swablu's growl almost confused Jigglypuff. Was it trying to sing like he was? If so, it wasn't doing a very good job. Singing came from the heart, you know. But then the pretense was over. Jigglypuff expanded it's body as the Peck hit lessening the damage only slightly. It was starting to feel like he was getting punctured with these pecks. It was lick a needle stabbing a balloon. Sooner or later, that balloon would pop.
In order to prevent that, the Swablu had to be taken out, fast. Letting it's elastic body return to it's normal form (which was still rather round), it moved in closer to the blue bird, faking a hit from the right, and hitting with the left.

Soren watched the fight, a lot more focused now that the singing had stopped. The pink pokemon had used that nasty attack again, drawing his Swablu closer and faking her out before landing the hit on one of her wings. The odd-looking bird let out an annoyed cry before backing up again, and Soren wondered if her unconventional plumage cushions the attack even just a bit. He glanced back down at his pokedex. Somehow the Jigglypuff knew a rather unconventional attack, while his own pokemon was an attack down considering the complete failure of the previous astonish. So, all he was left with was a very familiar "Peck." The swablu wasted to time before attacking the jigglypuff once again, a bit miffed at the faint attack she keeps falling for. ::Swablu:: Peck

This time the Jigglypuff found himself too close to the bird, and without the growl attack to slow her down she was able to close the distance with peck quickly. The balloon-like pokemon had tried expanding once more, but it was a mistake - Swablu's peck ended up puncturing his skin and deflating him. All of the defenses he'd earned defense curling were for naught, and he was even more vulnerable than before.
Letting out a humph, he ignored his puncture wound and decided to Sing once more; maybe if the trainer and pokemon fell asleep, he could make a hasty escape. Taking a deep breath, he belted out a deep melody...

The attack was an immediate success, at least against Soren. As soon as the melofy hit his ear, his whole body relaxed and his eyes dropped against his will. Unable and unwilling to pay attention to the battle when he was just seconds away from falling into a blissful sleep, he muttered a quiet " attack" before leaning against the closest tree to rest. The swablu was not unaffected by the Sing either, but birds have rather small ears and she fluffed up her cloudy wings and tried to block off the noise. She noticed that her trainer was about to go down and flew towards him a bit --possibly to rest on top of his head and succumb to the melody --, before she heard the weak command. The bird pokemon immediately turned back towards the jigglypuff and used a heat wave. She did not know where that attack came from, but with a beat of her wing, the air around her turned scorching hot and advanced towards the pink pokmon. ::Swablu:: Heat Wave

The air suddenly turned. Hot extremely hot. Too hot. What on earth was this? The Jigglypuff cried out in pain the the intolerable Heart Wave assaulted him. He could feel his skin prickling and burning. <Stop, STOP!> He cried as the attack subsided. He could feel his skin blistering. The lovely pink color marred by patched of brown or light black. He could still move, yes, but Jigglypuff was in no condition to fight. <You win.>
