Truthfully the prospect of battling didn’t appeal to Silver, but a curious look from Near made her consider. She didn’t want to hurt anyone! Glancing around, she saw that John was looking toward her with soft, fearless eyes. Heart lifting with hope, Silver bit her lip and turned back to the wild Zigzagoon’s older brother. Force wasn’t necessary to defend, but... Confused, she sighed and then nodded, looking with doubt toward Near. Not three on one or two on one, it would be a one on one. It would be John against the Growlithe, and since it was his first fight, she would have Jerome on the sidelines just in case. “John, prepare for battle.” Silver instructed, lifting herself up carefully. “Jerome, you’re on standby. Let’s get ready and keep it tight!” John leapt onto her left shoulder and Near crouched down at the side of the battlefield beside Silver. Luna nuzzled John’s neck fur gently before she backed off and sat down beside Silver with Jerome barely awake by her side. “This will be our first battle together,” Silver murmured to John, who stood ready to attention with his back straight and cream tail plumage spreading thick against his hind legs. “So let’s make it a good one.” John barked with excitement, trotting toward the Zigzagoon to shake hands to signal a friendly match; no hard feelings afterwards, before he returned to his side and crouched down. Bunching his muscles in a signal that he was ready, Silver glanced one more time to Near and reached to hold his hand. She was nervous, no doubt about it. She wanted to help Pokémon; this was against everything she had ever vowed to do. She would heal both Pokémon afterwards, though, with Oran berries. Sending Jerome off to the bushes on the side to pick some off the branches, she took a steady breath. Luna quickly trotted onto the field and gave her companion an Oran berry before returning to Near's side, her ears erect. “John, let’s go!” She called confidently, tightening her grip around Near’s clawed hand. “Bite!” If John hit Zigzagoon, he would hold on and try to pull the small Pokémon onto it’s side to pin it down with his claws, but if he missed, he would attempt to leap away back toward Silver and prepare to be hit with an attack... The eldest brother nodded his head when he saw that the Growlithe was just as ready as he was to get started. So apparently, they weren't going with the two-versus-one that he had suggested. Well, that was fine by him. If they were going to underestimate him, then that was their problem, not his. <Alright, let's do this thing!> the elder brother called out. <But if this is the only thing keeping my little bro from staying home, he can probably forget about going on any kind of adventure. There's no way I'm going to lose to a pup like that!> Perhaps he was going a bit too far with his insults, and he was aware of it. So, he decided to shut his mouth before his dad got onto him about being cocky and overconfident. Instead, he prepared himself for the Bite attack that was coming. It was an easily predicted move, and he expertly dodged the attack to the side, showing that he had a bit of battle experience himself. Now was his chance to prove his strength. If there was one thing he wished he could do, it was be as strong as his dad was...he delivered such high-power moves, that he was beaten down before they came close to a tough battle whenever they trained together. Well, this was a good chance to see if he'd gotten any stronger since their last battle. Once he was out of the way of the Bite attack, he turned to face the Growlithe and let his tail wag a bit, using a Tail Whip in an attempt to lower his opponent's defenses. He wasn't going to throw the match for his little brother, that was for sure. He was going to make his dad proud...and one of the first lessons he had ever been taught was to use his status-changing moves in conjunction with his regular attacks to produce stronger combinations. Here, he would put that to use. He charged forward, right after his Tail Whip was done, and tried to ram his right shoulder into his opponent and barrel into his body with a strong Tackle attack. ::Zigzagoon:: ::Zigzagoon:: ::Zigzagoon:: Father, Mother and Little Bro watch from the sidelines ::Zigzagoon:: Dodged Bite! John had spun around to sprint back to Silver when a flash of brown caught his eye and his sharp teeth clenched. Sensitive ears picked up the sound of paws rushing at him and he felt a slight twinge of panic. He was under attack! For a heartbeat, he considered running, but if he did that then Jerome would never let him hear the end of it. Besides, Luna and Near were watching; he couldn’t shame Silver by fleeing from such a basic move! Instead, he spun on his heel to face the Zigzagoon and dug his claws into the snow, crouching down in order to take the attack head on. In the few seconds that it took for the Zigzagoon to cross the distance to reach him and then lunge his attack into motion, John had already thought of a battle tactic to use against him. The Zigzagoon’s muscles were fairly thin still, obviously still developing, which meant that the Zigzagoon also didn’t have much – though he had some – experience in battle. Likewise, its fur was still fairly smooth, which also suggested that it hadn’t taken many hits before; from claw, talon or perhaps even a hostile beak. Spreading his claws to spread his balance, the Growlithe flattened his broad ears and bared his teeth, lip curling up into a guttural snarl. Activating his Intimidate ability seemed like a second nature; hopefully that would have knocked down the damage that he received. As soon as the Zigzagoon charged into his side, Growlithe would bite down hard into his skin. Since the Zigzagoon was – literally – tackling him, which meant ramming into his side with his body, that meant that it was highly unlikely the TinyRaccoon would be focused on anything else apart from hitting him. Zigzagoon’s body was coming at him fast. To top that, as soon as it hit, John would throw himself into the assault to add more momentum to his own counterattack. John’s fangs were naturally sharp – especially his pearly white canines, which made it easier to chew his food. When his friend’s older brother’s body was close enough to secure the blow, John would thrust his fangs into the base of Zigzagoon’s throat and attempt to throw him to the ground, or at least cause a bit of damage. If it worked and he did throw the Pokémon down, he would again attempt to pin him down with forepaws on both shoulders and his hind legs on Zigzagoon’s haunches. However, if his move failed, John would be thrown back, and if he could, he would drag the Zigzagoon along with him. “Don’t underestimate a combatant!” John howled as his jaws opened for the blow. Whatever happened now... he hoped he had made the right choice in so little time. Currently in battle:JOHNSex: Male Current status: Full HP, no status inflictions. -1 Defense from Tail Whip. When the Growlithe gave the older brother an intimidating snarl, he began to whimper a bit... Although he tried to hide it by showing how impressed he was with the Growlithe. >Nice snarl. I'm very impressed.< He said although he probably shouldn't have been speaking as he was distracted and the Growlithe managed to bite him in the tail. >YAOUCH!< He screamed in pain as his tail was bit. He was able to avoid his skin getting dug into, but not able to avoid his tail being bit by the Pokémon. This made the larger Zigzagoon scream as he then started to wag his tail ferociously with the Growlithe stuck on it and then he attempted to hit it from it's side and give it a very hard blow. The attack was weakened after being intimidated but it should still do a bit of damage to the Growlithe. The baby Zigzagoon started to get bored and he began to tug on his father. >Daddy, can I have some chocolate pancakes? Please Please Please!< He asked. (Older Brother) (-1 attack) Hit by Bite. Used Tail Whip and Tackle (Lil Bro, Mom, and Dad) Little brother wants Chocolate panckaes

Triumph made John’s muscles feel more powerful and made him feel ecstatic. Teeth sinking into the Zigzagoon’s tail, he pulled his paws in to weigh the Zigzagoon down. He felt teeth scrape bone and wondered how that would feel to Zigzagoon, and suddenly it didn’t seem like a friendly match anymore. His lip was curled, making him appear furious as he was swayed from left to right, though he was unable to do anything at that point. If Zigzagoon attacked him, he wouldn’t be able to dodge, but that was fine. He couldn’t fight if he was in pain, right? The idea made John’s stomach churn, but it was the only way to get this family’s acceptance, and his heart pulsated in his chest rapidly. Blood pumping in his side, John reached forward with his claws and suddenly used all of his jaw strength; his teeth biting down harder to inflict more damage. However, his ears rung at the sound of pain from the Zigzagoon – pain that he had inflicted. Closing his eyes to shut it out, John felt sensitivity flow into the front of his teeth and he growled, attempting to dig his claws into Zigzagoon’s rump. “I told you,” John growled loudly, pushing forward against the Zigzagoon’s tail, “Don’t underestimate a combatant!” The pup pulled once more, trying to unbalance Zigzagoon. He still stuck with his plan to pin him down, because that gave him a good chance for an attack that left his ‘opponent’ defenceless. Battling before her eyes was her mate and her friend’s potential new partner and Luna’s claws began to flex into the earth anxiously. Most of the time one would believe a Houndour to be aggressive, fearless, and perhaps even murderous. However Luna was not like this. Luna was a caring Pokémon, though she could often say something that came across as harsh or sarcastic, she often didn’t mean it. Suddenly she reared up onto her hind legs, her eyes closed and she let out a loud, eerie, cheering howl for her friend. During this, her muscles bunched and tightened, almost as if she was going to throw herself into the battle, but she simply stood there. “Go on, John! You can do it!” She shouted to him, her eyes glowing with pride. Such a fearless but compassionate pup... Currently in battle:JOHNSex: Male Current status: Has been hit by Tackle. The Zigzagoon let out a very loud squeal of pain at the Growlithe's intense actions. This was only a friendly battle, right...? Was there really a need to inflict so much intentional pain at this point in the fight? Well, he'd just have to show this Growlithe that nobody underestimates him! He was definitely a tough one, but not as strong as he was! He felt the Growlithe pull at his tail, and knew almost immediately what he was up to. But he wasn't going to let this Puppy Pokémon pin him down so easily! He dug his claws as firmly into the ground as he could and managed to keep himself from falling over. Even when he felt John's claws, he still refused to budge. He knew he was the stronger of the two...now he just had to prove it! And if this was all the Growlithe could do, then this shouldn't be too difficult! After a while, he desperately shook his tail in an attempt to shake the Growlithe off with a simple Tail Whip. Then, he tried to jump--springing into the air backwards--and tried to leap over John's head and land on the other side in a rather stylish backflip. Of course, if the Fire Pokémon's jaws were still clamped onto his tail, then he would have been able to pull the Puppy Pokémon's front paws into the air, and then have him fall hard on his back. That was his goal, at the very least. And if he was successful, he would then proceed to try to pin his opponent down by placing his front claws firmly onto John's shoulders. If he wasn't, he would simply charge forward with another Tackle attack and hope for the best. Meanwhile, the little brother was watching the battle with awe..both of these two seemed so strong...he wanted to be just like them when he got older! It was really hard to see who was winning...but he sincerely hoped that it would be John who ultimately wins in the end. ::Zigzagoon:: Used Tail Whip on John! Tried to jump over John and slam him onto his back If successful, will try to pin John down. If not, used Tackle ::Zigzagoon:: ::Zigzagoon:: ::Zigzagoon:: Parents and little bro continue to watch

Hearing the squeal of pain made John freeze and his ears rung. Such a high pitched sound pierced his ear drums and made his claws spread out. Instinctively they dug down further; since he would have crouched down to cover his ears from the noise. His tiger-striped fur rippled like flame against the snow that covered the ground, and John struggled to hold on to Zigzagoon. Eyes squeezing shut from the strain his jaws were on, he didn’t notice the Tail Whip since he was already being pulled into the air. Growling, he racked his brain for what would be going on. Of course! If John was on his back, he wouldn’t be able to move, right? He’d be stunned, which would leave him vulnerable. Was that what was going through Zigzagoon’s mind? John’s tail whipped up, the cream plumage cushioning as he fell. Landing with a jolt, John pushed along with his hind paws to kick himself out of the way as his opponent landed. However, he wasn’t trying to dodge; he would allow Zigzagoon to pin him, but not in the way he planned. John wondered how Silver was coping watching them fight, though he knew it wouldn’t be easy for her. Silver was against fighting and truth being told, John didn’t like it either, but it was better than Jerome coming out. He would have probably tried to kill the TinyRaccoon Pokémon. Nevertheless, John watched as Zigzagoon crashed down toward him and he smiled up at the Pokémon politely, preparing himself for the counterattack. As soon as Zigzagoon got close enough, John would quite literally kick him in the maw and hopefully send him to the floor. If he failed, he would use his fangs and bite into the Zigzagoon’s ankle. The Zigzagoon grinned in excitement as he saw his attack worked perfectly! His strategy was impeccable! The Growlithe didn't even know what hit him! Looks like his little whelp of a bro wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. very soon, he'd stand victorious over his opponent, sealing his brother's fate to remain here, with them, where he was safer. Unless, of course, Father changed his mind. All of this was running through his head, and he had stopped paying attention to John. When the Zigzagoon went for the pin, he suddenly felt the Puppy Pokémon's foot hit him square in his jaw, and he let out a slight yelp of pain. He was knocked upwards and into the air before falling flat on his own back. He was too stunned from the blow to move, let along climb back to his feet and attack again. The little brother, John's friend, was watching intently. He had winced when he saw John fall onto his back and was very worried when he saw his brother going for the pin. He figured that it was over then and there...but John turned right around and proved that he wasn't one to be underestimated like that! Smiling brightly at the sight of his friend turning things around, he cheered him on. <Alright, John! That was amazing!> he called out, getting very wrapped up in the battle. This caused the father Zigzagoon to look over curiously at his youngest son...he sure did seem to be enjoying himself.... ::Zigzagoon:: Hit by the kick Falls onto his back, incapable of movement this round [ATK: -1] ::Zigzagoon:: ::Zigzagoon:: ::Zigzagoon:: Still watching the battle Younger Bro: Cheering on John

John’s legs remained tense as he watched the Zigzagoon plunge toward him, but rather than looking at the creature’s cream forepaws, he looked toward its eyes. Smiling to himself mischievously, he noted that they were dull; his opponent was not concentrating! Closer and closer he fell until John’s mind registered the distance and he smashed his hind paws into Zigzagoon’s jaws, kicking him back up. If Zigzagoon was on the floor, it wouldn’t have hurt, but the shock wave would affect the Raccoon’s entire body in the realisation that his head would be the first to go, then his neck would bend and angle his body up as he crashed into the ground. Rolling over quickly, John found enough time to glance at Silver; she was deep in thought by her eyes and where her finger pushed slightly against her pale upper lip, but she was attentive to her surroundings. Her head turned as John, who was panting with slight exhaustion as his tongue lolling out of his mouth, trotted over to the Zigzagoon. Right now, if he were any other Pokémon, he would have finished it off with a bite to the throat, but he wasn’t going to do that. Instead, he pulled his tongue back into his mouth and let out a long, smooth exhale. “I think we should stop now,” John suggested gently. He didn’t think the Zigzagoon was weak or anything, but they were both becoming tired and they were both going to get hurt if they didn’t stop. Instead of going for another attack, he reached forward with his paw and offered to help the Pokémon up, smiling warmly. “You’ve done a great job, I don’t doubt that, but if we take it any further, one of us will get hurt. I don’t think your parents would like to see that happen.”John was serious. If Zigzagoon refused to call it a truce, he would use Roar to force him to back down. If he backed down on his own, John would give him the Oran Berry that Luna had given him as a gesture of good will. Currently in battle:JOHNSex: Male Current status: Has been hit by Tackle. The Zigzagoon looked up at the Growlithe. He fully expected an attack to come, and braced himself for the pain. He even shut his eyes in anticipation. But, when it didn't come, he opened one of his eyes and saw the Fire-type, paw extended, willing to just help him back to his feet. That was curious...he had never seen a Pokémon who wanted to stop a battle to keep each other from being hurt.... And the funny thing was, he was putting himself at risk by just that gesture alone. If he had truly wanted to beat this Growlithe into the ground, all it would take was a powerful sneak attack from this position. But again, that wasn't going to happen. Not when his opponent was showing him such kindness. He smiled a bit and reached up and accepted the Growlithe's help. He got back to his feet and wagged his tail a bit. <Yeah, yeah, I get what you're saying...> he said, looking a bit disappointed that John wanted to end the battle so suddenly. <But...I don't want to stop. I want to keep fighting...it's so much more fun than just laying around and doing nothing...the rush of battle is just something that I can't stop...> He looked at the Growlithe, adrenaline still too busy being driven through his veins to stop his desire for battle. <Besides, nobody ever kills each other in battle unless the intend to, right? And if we're fighting for fun, then why would we want to kill each other? I want to keep fighting, because I'm man enough to keep going. But if you don't want to, then I guess I can't force you to...> His last words were said in a tone of disappointment, but he was going to be a raccoon of his word, however John replied. <Besides, I feel like I can beat you if we keep going!> ::Zigzagoon:: Asks to keep the battle going

Listening to Zigzagoon’s reason for wanting to continue the fight made John realise that the Wild Pokémon had probably nothing else to do apart from live. Pokémon were given powers to fight, weren’t they? Even so, the rush of battle was a nice feeling, it added tension to many lives, but as well as making some feel powerful, and the weaker Pokémon wouldn’t have much chance of winning. That was the law of the world: Survival of the fittest; or so John had heard. Biting his lip in thought, he sat down and looked to his paws. Luna was against fighting; she was a healer, she would help him, but she resented fighting of any kind, even in self defence. Even so, she would fight if Near told her to, if someone was in a life-or-death situation... Sighing, his eyes closed slightly and he looked at his claws. He had already caused Zigzagoon a lot of pain using his bites! Were Pokémon really that resilient...? Nobody kills each other in battle unless they intended to. But the exact opposite was also true; Pokémon fought for power, for control or for fun, and even then some Pokémon would die, even accidentally. To John, that kind of behaviour was... Unimaginable; way too hard to comprehend, it was just strange and disturbing. True, he was fighting for his friends, for the younger Zigzagoon to join him, but there wasn’t really anything to fight for. He was simply battling because the Tiny Raccoon’s father suggested that he should in order to win his approval. But was pain really that worth fighting for? Confusion flashed in John’s eyes for a moment and he shook his head, trying to collect his thoughts. “You say you are ‘man enough’ to keep fighting,” John murmured, his eyes landing with soft concern on Zigzagoon, “But a true ‘man’, or Pokémon for that matter, doesn’t fight just because he enjoys it.” Padding toward Luna, he curled his body protectively around hers and looked back over toward Zigzagoon. Remembering these words was hard, but he knew them; his mother had told him the same thing when he was a pup, play fighting with his long dead brethren. “A true combatant fights for what he believes in and for compassion. They show compassion and should fight only when they have to; to defend a pack mate or a friend... There’s no honour in fighting or killing just for the fun of it... And even if you don’t mean to, Pokémon can still die. If their bodies are weak, they have no resolve; even the most simple or weakest of moves can end up ending their life. I don’t understand why you want to keep fighting... But I only fight for my friends and to defend lives.”Turning his head toward Jerome, who was sitting low against the ground with his antennae glowing with untamed electricity, he shook his head and sighed. Jerome knew no electric moves, but his ability to use his powers was instinctive, even though he had much to learn. Even so, Jerome was stronger than John, but that didn’t mean he would back down if he ever had to fight the aquatic Pokémon. “I’m sorry, Zigzagoon, and you,” John shouldered his way over to the Raccoon’s father, gazing steadily into his eyes. “I can’t fight your son just because I have to prove my pack’s strength. You’ve seen me fight already, I’d rather not hurt anybody if it can be avoided. Your son is a good fighter and if I believed otherwise, I would continue to fight him, but this is my pack and we’re trying to help other Pokémon. Whether you accept the choice to let your son join us or not,” John glanced toward the potential party member with a soft smile, “Is not my decision to make. But you heard him just now; I saw the look on your face. I can’t fight with your son or you for such a reason. I hope you understand.”Currently in battle:JOHNSex: Male Current status: Has been hit by Tackle. No status inflictions. -2 Defense from Tail Whip. INTIMIDATE ABILITY HAS ACTIVATED. Is it the look in your eyes? [atrb=border,0,true]
{ Zigzagoon Pup + Mother } Sidelines | { Older Brother } Gives Up. +1 level to John~
| { Father } Respect +1 to John, but...
|
<So...does this mean that I can't have that popsicle?> The Zigzagoon pup joked, playfully nudging his mother as she exchanged a worried look with her mate. To be honest, she felt some kind of appeal with the Growlithe's words. John was a very mature Pokemon, even if he wasn't the winner in the match, or even close to it at all. She felt nervous leaving her pup in their pack, simply because of the dangers of the human world. She heard plenty about them from her brethren in the city. Nothing good enough for her poor babies!
<Grr...I don't like this. I really don't like this at all!> The older brother huffed, not having that kind of maturity. It just seemed like a cheap way to get out of a game. He huffed as he turned around, not needing to be healed from any kind of berry.
<Thank you for proving your courage in the battle...it was a good fight for my older eyes.> The father grinned, unfazed at the serious mood brought by their guests. <But I don't think leaving my youngest son in your pack is a good idea.> He nodded to his mate, sensing from her eyes that she agreed as well. The older brother just kind of smiled in the background, while the youngest looked sad.

Watching from the sidelines had been boring for Jerome, who was digging his fins into the ground in agitation. Why did John get to fight? And now that he had, and he had shown his abilities and personality in battle, they doubted the Younger Brother and didn’t want him to go with Silver? The Chinchou’s body sparked with irritation and he flung himself forward to stand by John, his eyes contorted with an immature rage.
“And you seriously think you’re any better?” Snarled Jerome to the parents, simply because he couldn’t take them down talking their own son – or at least that’s what it looked to him. Beside him, John’s once understanding, calm face had turned to shock and disbelief, and the puppy Pokémon took a step back. “Parents are meant to talk to their children to find out what they want, but instead you’re choosing his life for him, even upsetting him?! Now that’s bullshit, dude! That’s Pure Fucking BULLSHIT!” Stomping over toward the younger Zigzagoon, he twined his antennae around the Pokémon’s shoulder and pointed with the other one to his face.
“You see what shit you’re puttin’ him though? HUH? Just because you think my friends are too incompetent to fight; because you think we’re gonna let some shit-talkers walk all over us and hurt our friend or abandon him? Is that it? This ‘Pack’ takes care of each other. We get each other's backs AT ALL TIMES, and if we have problems, Silver's gonna be there to keep us together no matter what happens. And if that isn’t enough, we got Near and Luna to back our asses up. Before you jump to conclusions, you should hear what YOUR SON wants to do, and instead of purposely sending your older son to get the Shit BEATEN out of him, you’d better listen to what HE wants because it seems the Fuck to me that you don’t trust us enough.” Twirling around, his furious eyes landed on the older brother, “And you can wipe that fuckin’ smile off of your face!”
He saw John’s head shaking and sure, he knew that he shouldn’t be saying all these horrible words in front of such young Zigzagoon pups, but they probably wouldn’t repeat them anyway. And Jerome didn’t really care about getting told off for his language anyway. He was angry. “In fact, no, fuck it,” he spat, returning to Silver and grabbing a Pokéball from her bag. He slapped her hand away when she tried to stop him and returned to the younger brother. “If you wanna come with us, don’t fight it. If you don’t then we’re gonna pack up and get the hell outta here. It’s your life; YOU should choose what happens to you.” Suddenly Silver lurched forward, but couldn’t get there in time to stop Jerome from throwing the Pokéball at the younger brother. John reached forward and grabbed his antennae, but it was too late. Suddenly Jerome vanished in a glow of red light; Silver had reached her Pokéball to recall him.
“Jerome, you-” She had started to say, but her eyes remained on the Pokéball with horror. She hoped that it wouldn’t stop moving; that the Zigzagoon would break out before the ball clicked to state officially that it had been tamed. Jerome wouldn’t get away with this! “Get out of the Pokéball, Zigzagoon! Fight it!” She yelled loudly, hoping that the Raccoon would hear her. “This isn’t right!”JEROME // Sex: Male Current status: Full HP, no altered stats, status inflictions or injuries. The father Zigzagoon growled a bit angrily as the Chinchou began to speak. He was patient enough to try to wait until the Water and Electric Pokémon was done speaking before countering with his own argument. Almost everything that Chinchou had spat out was a complete lie. For starters, it wasn't a parent's job to give their kids what they want. It's to do what's best for them and to protect them with all of their might. The only thing they were concerned about was the well-being of their son. If they believed that he wouldn't be entirely safe out there with these people's pack, whom they had only just met, mind you, then they would not ever even think about letting him go, whether their son wanted to or not. And both himself and his mate did not take kindly to Jerome's word choice, either. But before anybody could do anythign, the gauntlet had been thrown. Or, in this case, the Pokéball, and the Zigzagoon had been trapped inside of it. The Zigzagoon on the inside was frantic, panicking and reacting through it, struggling with all of his might. He was completely afraid of what was going to happen...that Jerome had scared the living hell out of him. As the Pokéball continued to bob back and forth, it eventually popped open again, and the empty Pokéball was sent flying back at Silver. The young Zigzagoon was out once more, actually shivering on the ground, front two paws held over his eyes, quivering. But, when he lifted a paw, he saw that the Chinchou was gone, and he relaxed a bit more. The father and mother were quick to move to their youngest son's side. <Oh, are you alright, honey...?> the mother asked, nuzzling up against her son with deep concern. The little Zigzagoon replied with a slightly shaking voice, <Y-yes, M-mother....> The father turned around to face John and the human. <If you can't even keep a member of your own pack under control, how can I believe that you are capable of protecting my son from the dangers of the outside world?>It was quite clear that the father and mother's mind had seemingly been decided. But, it might still be possible to convince the younger Pokémon to come along...they had witnessed what had happened with Jerome alright...but they had also seen the other Pokémon's attempts at protecting him, as if he was already a member of the pack. And then there was the fact that the small Zigzagoon still longed to be with his new best friend, John. Perhaps it would just take a bit more convincing.... ::Zigzagoon:: Little Bro: Broke out of the Pokéball! ::Zigzagoon:: ::Zigzagoon:: Father and mother: Comforting their youngest son

John’s jaws clenched when Silver had called Jerome back into the Pokéball, his claws digging into the ground and his eyes blazed. “Idiot,” he growled to himself, aimed at Jerome – even if he couldn’t hear the insult, the word was still full of annoyance. Instead of taking it further, Luna had rushed over with a mouthful of Chamomile. Chamomile was an herb that Luna had learned about during her time as a pup; it helped to soothe nerves when ingested and it smelled absolutely beautiful. Carefully she placed it down at the Zigzagoon’s paws and nosed it toward the young pup gently. Approaching with his ears flat with apology, John lay down beside his friend and licked his shoulder warmly.
“I’m very sorry for what Jerome did. He’s the newest member of our group and he’s very aggressive and stubborn. His language and actions were inexcusable.” John murmured to the father of the family. “Luna’s great with herbs and things like that; so don’t fear her, she won’t hurt you.” Sighing, he shook his head and looked over to Silver, who was putting the Pokéball back in her bag and making sure it was locked up tight. Of course, her eyes were full of sorrow and confusion, almost as if she couldn’t understand why Jerome would do something so foolish. Near and stepped forward; the Absol Pokémorph picked up some leftover Pancakes from the abandoned picnic and placed them down in front of the frightened Pokémon. Even so, John was hoping that they would be forgiven, and he was thinking about how he would still convince the father to allow their son to travel with him... Though after what had happened, he wondered if it was still an option.
“It’s not always like this,” John murmured with a sigh. What had Jerome done now? “Jerome’s headstrong, he does things and he’s still a bit wild. He doesn’t know how to keep his trap shut, but he does mean what he says; he does take care of his friends. Believe it or not, he’s stronger than I am so...” John put his head down, burying his muzzle under his paw in an exhausted sigh. The battle had taken a lot out of him... Luna stepped forward, sitting down beside John and pressing a paw against his shoulder before she rested her head on his neck and lay there. Her eyes gazed at his as though he was already hurt, but she knew that there was still a chance. Luna, believe it or not, was a Pokémon that believed in Spirit Guides, and right now she could use some advice from him... As soon as her soft scent wreathed his nose, his eyes closed and he sighed, accidentally falling asleep in the snow. Luna was like a Native American healer; she knew herbs and was wise, and her voice was calm enough to soothe the storms in ones heart. “To some extent, what Jerome said was true. We look after our friends with all of our strength.” Luna murmured softly, staying in her position with her jaws resting on John’s soft neck fur. “But Jerome is still young. He needs guidance and to be trained. He is new; he needs to learn the rules. We accept that what he did was out of line, and I am sure that he is sorry for what he has done. Pokémon like him do not apologise openly but he does care. His ways of showing it are different, but he really wants Zigzagoon to come with us. That I see in Jerome’s eyes alone; and John...” She paused as John stirred slightly, his paws neatly bending under his ankles to keep warm. “He also speaks truth. John is loyal, his heart is in the right place and he understands others. His choice to end the battle with your son was because he did not want to hurt him as a friend.” Luna’s pointed ears rotated back to hear Silver and Near; Silver was staring at John’s Pokéball as though she was reconsidering allowing him to stay, but Near was comforting her, telling her that he would help train the rowdy Pokémon. “If there is anything that we can do to change your mind about letting your son join us, if he still wants to,” Luna murmured quietly, “Please tell us. Jerome will be disciplined for what he has done. As far as your son is concerned, he has already earned his place in our pack.” On StandbyJOHNSex: Male Current status: Recovering from battle. As the herbs were placed in front of him, the younger Zigzagoon hesitantly ate them. They were bitter, as all herbs were, but he could feel his muscles start to relax once more. Wow, this stuff really worked! He looked over at John and Luna...he had had fun with them. He really liked them...but that Jerome scared the living daylights out of him. He now had a serious decision to make. On one hand, he had become fast friends with John, and Luna seemed like a very nice and caring Pokémon. On the other hand, he might have to see Jerome a lot. And that wasn't something he wanted to do. He looked down at the ground, being very serious, something he rarely ever was. The father and mother exchanged looks at each other as they heard the Growlithe and Houndour's words. They both posed good 'arguments' about why their son would be safe with them. <...In the end, however, I still don't think that you have what it takes to properly protect our son.> the mother said. She looked down at the little brother with a caring gaze. The father, however, looked a bit more thoughtful. Just then, the older brother spoke up. <Um...I think he should go.> he said. <I mean...what they're saying makes sense...and they do seem really smart, and let me tell you...that Growlithe is stronger than he looks.> he smiled a bit over at John. <I wish we could have continued our fight, but he only stopped to prevent either of us from getting hurt.> He then looked over at his little brother, with whom he had shared so many sibling rivalries and battles. <...Besides. The kid's a wimp. He needs a little something to toughen him up.> At his brother's words, the younger brother smiled brightly and tail wagged in excitement. <Th-thank you!> he cried out, running at the elder brother and jumping at him, tackling him to the ground with a hugging glomp. The elder brother just smiled a bit and nodded...without saying much.
The father smiled at what he saw. It was very rare to see the two of them act this way. He looked over at his wife. <...Perhaps it is not for our son's well-being that we do not want him to leave...but our own. Maybe we are just being too paranoid and don't want our youngest son to leave us so soon....> He looked over at the small 'pack' of John's. They did seem very reliable.... <...Very well. I give you my blessing on taking our son with you. On two conditions. One, that you must promise that no terrible harm shall come to him. And two, you keep him away from that Jerome fellow until he's properly tamed.>

Luna carefully licked John’s forehead as he slept, her eyes blinking slowly and her grey eyes scanning the mother with a gentle gaze as she spoke. She understood the mother’s concern and why she may not want Zigzagoon to leave; he was young, barely beginning his life and he needed protection. Nodding slowly, she opened her mouth to speak when her ears twitched and the older brother of the Zigzagoon spoke. Exhaling a soft, silent, chuckling breath when he heard what the Pokémon had to say, she smiled and glanced down at her mate. John was strong; he was thoughtful and compassionate, and brave. She loved him for those traits; for those distinctive things that he held. Watching the two brothers wrestling made her feel relaxed and she half closed her eyes before shaking her head with a ‘what can you do?’ smile. “He will be trained, and John and I will look after him.” Luna murmured; her voice filled with a strange sense of wisdom. The Native Houndour glanced up at the sky, almost urging her spirit guide to give her a sign, but he was still silent... Below her, John had begun to dig his claws into the earth as he had a nightmare, and he let out a half growl, half whine from his throat. Before she could wake him, the sound of soft music filled the skies, and her eyes closed. Silver had taken her Guitar from her back and was playing her guitar with practiced expertise. “We’ll keep him safe and protect him,” Luna whispered, trying not to distract Silver from her beautiful singing or playing. “And we’ll bring him back at the next full moon to visit you again... As a trial to see if he likes being with the pack or not. If he doesn’t want to stay with the pack, he can just say so and he doesn’t have to stay.” Offered the Houndour, her pointed ebony ears angled back toward the guitar’s song. Near was crouching near Luna with his head turned and his finger twirling in his hair. He seemed mesmerized by her voice, which wasn’t surprising since he was an Absol Pokémorph. He had long black claws, even his teeth were more pointed than usual, and his eyes were grey. That wasn’t normal in a human... But Luna still loved him dearly. <I think mom is just a worry wart. Come on, worry about me some more.> The older Zigzagoon nudged his mom playfully, only to get a scolding look in return. She was just so unsure about this, but the two men in her life seemed to be on the same page. It was like this with the foods they ate too. One would want cake while the others would want chocolate. Such an indecisive group, really.
<I want what's best for him. Being a wild Pokemon has its traits, but it could be his time to leave the nest. Let's just see what happens.> The father nodded towards his youngest son, trying to think if he should depart anything as a last second gift. He didn't have anything on him now, but maybe some advice would do him some good.
<Son, the world is a big place. Whenever you get lost, just remember...you can always come back here by following the stars.> He smiled, still showing concern for the youngest pup. The little Zigzagoon cutely tilted his head in confusion, until he recalled a conversation he had with his dad not so long ago. There was a big old star in the sky! The one he said that his grandparents went to when they died. If they were watching over him, then surely he'd be able to come back whenever he was homesick.
<I...I want to have fun with you guys.> The pup grinned at John and Luna, before turning and giving his family a wink. <But I love you guys! I really love you!> He admitted without a sense of bashfulness.

Luna’s heart soared when Zigzagoon agreed to come with them, and they all seemed to be agreed on it. She knew that John would be so happy when he woke up to hear that the Zigzagoon had joined them after such a stressful night. What he had gone to sleep to would be replaced with new feelings of adventure and happiness, and she smiled gently at the thought. Birdsong echoed in her ears when she lifted her head to gaze at the stars. Such wise words from the Pokémon’s father, she noted.
“Your Spirit Guide will guide you when you are lost,” Luna agreed with a quiet murmur. Licking Zigzagoon’s forehead in welcome, she touched her nose to his as a sign of acceptance and looked down to John as the Pokémon curled up beside him, lulled by the melody that hummed from Silver’s guitar. Near’s nose twitched and he moved forward to whisper something in her ear, and the look of surprise that almost made her stop playing. Her icy blue eyes locked with Zigzagoon and she nodded slowly, smiling with warmth. “And you have us to guide you, my friend. Welcome to the pack.” Luna murmured.
As soon as the song was finished, Zigzagoon glanced toward Silver and Near questioningly; what was his name? With a flick of his ears, the Pokémon had reached the two humans – or human and her Pokémorph mate – and sat down expectantly. Silver reached forward, stroking his head knowingly with her hand and suggested, “Racco?” Zigzagoon nodded enthusiastically. It was a great name! The newly named Pokémon glanced toward Near, who was reaching into his loose pocket to pull out a Pokéball, looking at Silver and blinking before he extended his arm and released a small Pokémon from the orb.
“This is Jake,” Near said casually. “I found him at the Pound so I adopted him into our little ‘family’. He was abandoned by his trainer.” Near wasn’t usually one for interfering in the lives of Pokémon, but doing something like this would make Silver happy. He knew what she wanted and that was for Pokémon to be happy... Out popped a Pichu, looking around before he smiled and leapt playfully at Racco, his black-tipped tail wagging happily. Racco let out a playful growl and pawed at the Electric Type’s shoulder, trying to clamp his jaws gently down on one of Jake’s ears...
"We should go," Near said loudly. "It's getting dark and we need to reach the city before midnight." Gathering the Pokemon around him, he put Pichu on Luna's back with a berry to keep him occupied before the group left, saying their goodbyes to the family. "Bye!" Racco called back as they left his sight. He would return. He knew it!
Group has left the family. Wild Encounter?

As Silver and her pokemon walked off, a random sandshrew was standing there. He was still, calm, and in thought. His presence was rather unknown unless someone actually takes note of it.
But deep down inside of this calm shell, it was a pokemon that was utterly bored. He was just standing there, in a tree no less, calmly so that people would think he looked cool. <UUUUUGH...boredom sucks> The sandshrew was bored enough to learn how to climb trees, live in the snow, and even cannonball into the earth. Nothing to worry about, he was quite sturdy.
He began to squirm in boredom, wondering what he should do next. <Neeeeeeeeh, I want something to do!!!> As he squirmed, he slipped some, causing him to fall off the tree and roll onto the road in front of Silver. He looked up and saw the trainer coming his way. <A Trainer! This could be something!>
And he jumped up and approached the trainer, looking priestly with his hands together. <Greetings my young trainer. What can I do for you?>
