Unaware of her little ‘stalker’, if it could be called that, Silver carried the sleeping Growlithe in her arms. John hadn’t woken up; the battle had taken a lot out of him, which was for sure. Golden skin covered the Shrew Pokémon, which sure was beautiful, but there was something that was strange about the small Pokémon. For example, why was he following them? She still wasn’t used to that, but she had to at some point. Smiling at the Sandshrew, she pulled a berry off of the bushes and offered it to him.
Near, however, was sceptical about this Pokémon’s motives. Ears straining to catch the sound of its heartbeat, he crouched down beside it and tilted his head almost quizzically. Sandshrew was bored; he could sense it flowing from the Pokémon in waves, or was that something else? Sharp ebony-hued claws flexed in the earth and he reached up with his hand to curl a strand of his snowy locks in his hand. Slate grey irises flicked from Sandshrew to Silver and he knew what was going to happen. It was inevitable.
“Want to battle?” Near muttered quietly, glancing toward the small shrew idly. “You look quite tough-skinned. I could use a Pokémon like you.” Sure, he didn't have a Water type... Moving up to Silver, he spoke with her privately and she quickly nodded with a thoughtful expression. In her hand was a Pokeball; the one that belonged to Jerome, and she gave it to him. He would use Jerome and test his strength. Since Silver hated fighting and Jerome was practically bursting for a fight, if the Sandshrew did decide to accept his challenge, it would turn out to be interesting.

::sandshrew::
"A battle you say?" The sandshrew reiterated, PANCAKING the air between his clawed hands, tapping the claws rhythmically against each other while he considered the trainer's offer. He was confident in his own power, but he didn't know what this trainer had hidden away in his arsenal of poke'balls. After a second more of thinking he nodded his head in acceptance. "Alright. Should be fun." He said with a fiery sort of tone. Tucking himself safely away in a circle he rolled a short distance away from both humans, putting some space between them for the battle. He uncurled and stood sagely across the way, waiting for their poke'mon to appear.

Near’s grey eyes blinked and he nodded approvingly, increasing the size of the Pokéball that rested in his hand. Smoothly he angled it in his hand, waiting as the Sandshrew put some distance between them. Soon enough, hopefully, the Sandshrew would belong to him... Thoughts crossed his mind; it didn’t seem like the type that would turn on its heel and flee as soon as he sent out his combatant, but even so, it couldn’t be trusted yet. Besides, if the battle was going to be ‘fun’, as the Sandshrew had so confidently mentioned, he had no reason to flee. Suddenly the bones in his hand tensed and he threw the object, scraping the side with his claws as it released, and tossed it into the air.
“Prepare for battle!” Near summoned, and even before Jerome was on the ground, he had already sent a Supersonic wave of confusing energy and a huge, swirling Whirlpool skidding over the earth toward the Ground Type.

SANDSHREW::sandshrew:: The supersonic sound wave struck his body, and for a moment the Sandshrew wondered just what exactly had hit him. It hadn't hurt him at all. And then a second later it felt like his brain had been scrambled. He didn't know where he was or who he was or even what he was doing. And then to top it off, a spiral column of water hit him square in the face and pushed him over onto his back. The cold water was enough for him to see through the confusion for a few moments, long enough to curl himself up into a ball and aim a tackle attack for the duel water-electric type.

Near tossed a Pokéball in his hand thoughtfully and gazed at Jerome thoughtfully. Already the dual-type had it weakened, but probably not enough to attempt a successful capture. Idly he twirled a strand of his hair around his claw, grey eyes considering just why Jerome acted the way he did. Even without being told or waiting to be told, he had attacked, using the Ground Type’s Weakness against it to his advantage. Confusing it and then even following it up with a Whirlpool, Near waved his hand down and tilted his head up to look at the Sandshrew. It was on its back, but not for long; it had already curled up like a spineless hedgehog and kicked out to tackle Jerome. “Jerome,” Near called, “Evade the move and hit with another Whirlpool.” “Fuck off!” Jerome snarled impulsively, but then hesitated and glanced back. No, it wasn’t Silver, it was Near, and he was actually quite unnerving. Near knew that Jerome didn’t care for his language, but still... His voice hardened, but was still quite young and silent, but it was filled with authority that made Jerome inclined to obey. “Avoid it and use Whirlpool, Jerome!” He repeated calmly. Any other trainer would probably have exploded at their Pokémon for such a disobedient, disrespectful jibe, but not Near. Raising Pokémon required patience, even if that Pokémon was not your own... Growling, Jerome waited until Sandshrew was almost on top of him before he stepped aside and fired another Whirlpool straight toward its side. Whether or not it avoided the attack wasn’t of his concern, but he wouldn’t let it win. In battle JEROME // Sex: Male Current status: Full HP, no altered stats, status inflictions or injuries. The Sandshrew felt himself sail through the air, letting out a growl of disappointment as Jerome dodged his attack. Suddenly a jet of water sent the shrew Pokémon spiraling through the air. <Waah!>the Sandshrew howled, feeling the water spin him in a circle before he felt the pain of slamming against the earth. The Pokémon laid winded, feeling the water soak through his pelt while his head reeled. Shaking to clear the dizziness, Sandshrew got up stiffly and somewhat shakily. <Ugh....>he groaned, trying to stop his head from swirling. Oh that Water Pokémon was going to get it! But the Sandshrew was feeling too weak and groggy to go into the offensive., so he took the defensive position. The shrew Pokémon curled up into a ball, raising his defenses and waited. Very weakHit by Whirlpool Used Defense curl

Jerome had half-expected the Sandshrew to submit when the Whirlpool sent his body crashing to the floor. Surely it couldn’t take much more; it was struggling to move, probably to fight, too. Stance portraying that Jerome was still up for the battle, it reflected sourly that he had taken no damage. Even ruthless, Jerome was a foe that shouldn’t be messed with. The blue and yellow Pokémon’s fins curled up, almost like fists, and he narrowed his ‘eyes’. This was his battle and he intended to win it!
“Use Bubble,” Near called, feeling that a change in attack was necessary, since the battle would quickly become boring otherwise... From his knowledge of Pokémon moves, Defense Curl was aimed to weaken physical attacks. Whirlpool and Bubble were in no way physical, therefore they would have no effect. Also from his knowledge, Bubble had the chance to lower the speed by one stage. No way. There was no way that the Sandshrew would take much more. As soon as Jerome had attacked, he would throw the Pokéball. Obediently, but reluctantly, Jerome leapt into the air and released a stream of bubbles from his mouth, which headed straight for the Sandshrew. While curled up, the chance of avoiding the move was miniscule and the chance of prevailing from this battle was most likely – in fact, perhaps even 100%. He saw no way that the Ground type could win, so as soon as the attack hit – or missed – Near would throw the Pokéball and attempt a capture...

The sandshrew could only hold up the defense curl for so long before caving in. His skin was getting moist by the droplet of water, his concentration was chipping down by the attack, and his strength going down by the moment. He held up in his little ball form for as long as possible, until finally he unrolled and laid on his back, still and silent.
HE only looked up, discombobulated by the fact that he lost to the chinchou. The water droplets caused by the multiple water attacks created a double rainbow in the sky. <Double Rainbow...what does it mean?> And he closed his eyes, oblivious to his own capture.

Holding the Pokéball in his hand, he contemplated if having a Sandshrew on his team was worth it, but then decided that it was. From what he had seen, the Pokémon knew Tackle, Defense Curl and Sand Attack, which made it at least at Level 7. Nodding approvingly, he gave control of Jerome back to Silver and summoned out the Sandshrew. It was still fairly weak, but he picked the Shrew Pokémon up in his hands and sprayed it with a Potion. As soon as he had, the moisture sunk deep into its rough, sand-papery skin and the skin lesions simply seemed to melt away. Allowing it to rest, he carried it over to Luna and sat it down on the earth before he sat down in front of it.
“Good battle,” he said calmly, “But Defense Curl doesn’t weaken Special Attacks.” Sure he might have been a bit rough, but he wouldn’t have done it if he thought the Sandshrew wouldn’t have taken it. Pressing his thumb against his top lip in thought, he inhaled carefully and then murmured, “I’ll call you Chakotay.” The Sandshrew was a male and it had shown bravery. It reminded him of someone he had seen before on a TV show, which he had seen as he ate in a cafe. Chakotay would represent bravery in his team, as Luna did Compassion and Jake did with Joy...
Chakotay looked up at him thoughtfully and nodded. He wasn't too sure how to proceed, or even how much he should accept Near at this point, but it seemed like a good chance to get stronger. If he wanted to find something to protect, he would most likely do it with this trainer...

A Wild Pokemon Has Appeared ! Out in the distance of the route lay a Team Death experiment gone wrong. Three caterpie were sown together with the limbs of Team Death grunts. There were odd looking legs for arms and arms for legs. The caterpie had narrowly escaped the guttersnipe who had done this to them! They saw the trainer up ahead, and began to crawl over to him. "Please help us!" The front one cried, while the two behind him mumbled the exactly same sentences into their rumps. "We need your help!"

Thinking that the rest of the night would be peaceful, Silver and Near had prepared to settle down by an oak tree somewhere nearby when the horrific sight made Silver’s eyes widen to saucer-sized ovals. Her normally calm expression was filled with disbelief and she immediately rushed over to the three Caterpie. What the hell!? They had been experimented on! Who would do such a disgusting thing!?
“It’s alright,” Silver whispered, scooping them up in her arms gently and taking a closer look. “We’re going to help you, okay? Don’t be afraid.” From her bag, the silver-haired girl pulled out a spare shirt and lay the three Bug Pokémon down on it before she beckoned to Near. “Luna!” At her command, the Houndour had rushed off to find some herbs to help out the three Pokémon, and roused by the situation, John had swiftly followed. Sure, he had no idea what was going on, but whatever had happened while he was asleep could wait.
“Chakotay, Racco,” Near pointed toward the Bug Types, his grey eyes blazing with cold fury. “You two stay with them. Jerome, you’re on watch.” Near hated people that did things to Pokémon, but whatever happened now, he hoped that they would be alright. Luna would come back with some herbs which would stop any pain or infection, but their main concern was that there were no Pokémon Centers around for at least another day’s walk. Biting her lip, Silver glanced toward Near and her brow furrowed with a concerned look; her eyebrows swept upwards towards the sky.
“No other choice, is there?” Silver murmured, resting her hand on the Caterpie. “As soon as Luna comes back, we’re going to have to try and get these... Severed limbs off of their bodies, otherwise they’ll not survive more than a day out in the wild.” “This is shit!” Jerome snapped from across the clearing. “If those bastards come anywhere near those Caterpie, I’m going to tear their arms off and see how they like it!”
"You'll be alright," Chakotay said soothingly, his voice was calm and peaceful. "Don't worry, we'll help you all." "Silver and Near are great Trainers," Racco added, his bushy tail wagging. "They'll stay up all night if they have to. Just relax and try to get some sleep, alright? We're not going to let anything happen to you." Just as he finished speaking, Luna and John had returned with bundles of herbs in their jaws, their muscles rippling under their fur as they ran back and lowered their loads to the floor. Immediately, Luna picked up some seeds and padded toward the Caterpie. "I want you to each have two of these," she murmured softly, "And close your eyes. Just listen to the sound of my voice."
::Houndour:: and ::Growlithe:: (Luna and John) Have returned with herbs.
::Chinchou:: and ::Pichu:: (Jerome and Jake) Is guarding the group.

A Wild Pokemon Has Appeared ! Herbs were not going to help the human caterpie, instead they would have to rip them apart without actually damaging the caterpie. As the toxic waste moved through the middle caterpie, the back end caterpie ingested it and felt itself choking on pure poo. "Help, quick! we don't have much time...." The front caterpie called out. He shook his head, "You need to pull us apart. Only one of us will survive...." And before he knew it, the back end caterpie fell limp. It had died. They only had ten minutes to live at the most...

Watching the third Caterpie die was a shock for Racco, but he knew that the other two Caterpie still had a chance. The third would be buried later when they had – hopefully – saved the others. However, his hopes were dashed when he recalled the words ‘only one of us will survive’. Chakotay rose to his paws and looked at the last Caterpie, making sure it was dead before he carefully took it in his teeth and pulled it off. Luna scrambled to find the right herb combination, but then paused. The end one had died from what? It would take too long to make a proper diagnosis, but it looked like asphyxiation. That meant that they didn’t have long to live, so...
“John, get a branch from the ground!” She said calmly, her ebony ears twitching. “We’re going to have to carefully pull them apart or cut whatever is holding them together. I’ll prepare some herbs to suppress the pain after it’s done, but you need to act quickly before they all die.”
Near nodded thoughtfully and looked toward his claws. They were sharp enough to cut through things without pulling too much, he knew that. His eyes sharpened as he focused them on the Caterpie and leaned as close as he could, but the smell of the decomposing arms made his lip curl and his eyes water. His senses were sharper and better than a normal human’s, which meant that he could smell a lot more than Silver could at that time. It was unpleasant, to say the least. He dug his black claws into one of the arms and began to pry it off while John worked on another, and Silver on another. If they could pull the arms off quickly enough without injuring the Bug Pokémon, Near could get to work on easily separating them.
Near and the others are trying to seperate the Caterpie.

A Wild Pokemon Has Appeared ! As the pokemon tried separating the sown on human limbs from their body, the two remaining caterpie could feel their own skin being ripped off from them. They both squirmed(which did not help) and cried in pain. As the last caterpie was ripped off part the middle caterpie's buttox, it cried in pain now that part of his own body was cut off. However, it was the front caterpie who began to lose as much caterpie blood from the pokemon trying to rip off the human limbs from him. He began to pale, and it only took minutes for the poor pokemon to die. The middle one, sensing the front one was now gone, began to writhe more, knowing her time was almost up too. "HELPHMEHELPHME." She began to scream, though her mouth was muffled by the dead caterpies behind. She was losing a lot of caterpie juice, too....

Silver’s teeth grinded against each other with frustration when the front Caterpie died; two were gone; she would not let the third one join its friends. Near focused his claws on the middle one’s ‘arms’ and dug them in. So far the last one had no injuries from the ‘surgery’, but even so one wrong move would cost the poor Pokémon its life.
Team Death would pay for such a horrific deed against Pokémon, Near knew that, because he would make sure that the police arrested each and every last one. Taking a long breath, he carefully pulled off the final one’s last arm, leaving no wounds there that he could see, and moved to free its mouth from the other Caterpie’s tail from its mouth. Carefully angling his claws so that he could cut the material that bound them together, he clenched his teeth when the Pokémon writhed in his grasp. “Stop moving,” he said, “You’re not going to die.”
Within that minute, all of the limbs lay in a pile on the ground and the last one was freed, and Luna had approached with her jaws filled to the brim with herbs, and began to gently press them against the Pokémon’s sides. They would stop pain and help to prevent infection, as well as make the skin close up. Hopefully the herbs would work, since she had applied them before too much blood was lost. It looked like a good outlook for the Bug Pokemon, that was for sure...
The final Caterpie has been saved. Ari's Edit: You are godmodding just a little bit in your last paragraph <3 I know the circumstances are a bit odd and unconventional, but still be aware of this fact and be careful next time <3Silver's Edit: Sorry, Ari! I didn't mean to. I've never been in this kind of situation before so I'm a bit unsure of what to do. It wasn't said if I could save it or not, so I assumed I could. <3

Although the Silver successfully pulled the last Caterpie free and she looked like she would be saved, she had lost a good amount of blood and ended up wobbling a bit, still very much harmed from the experiment. And fortune was not on her side... Although she was able to avoid the last experiment by Team Death, pulling her apart did attract some loyal pokemon as she started to bleed fresh blood which smelled good to a nearby Spearow. He quickly jumped forth and pecked the left out of the last Caterpie, eating it completely before he looked over at Silver. >Thanks for the meal.< He smirked before he attempted to flap his wings and fly off... But he stayed a bit longer in case Silver wished to feed him some more. ::Caterpie:: You saved her, but she ended up getting eaten by a Spearow.

Something stirred deep down in Silver when the Spearow simply ate the Caterpie, but she glanced to the floor. Well, it was the law of life. Eat or be eaten; kill or be killed. Those rules Silver and Near had both lived by for all of their lives, so there was nothing to do about it. The Spearow would live, nourished by the energy that the dead Bug type gave him. At least it wasn’t suffering anymore; they didn’t know how the Caterpie would have lived after being so brutally experimented on. Before the Spearow could leave, Silver pulled out a berry from her bag, but paused as Near’s tail straightened. Could she...? Their eyes locked for a moment and Silver seemed a bit concerned with seeing if the Spearow would like to battle, but she knew that it would be a valuable Pokémon to have on her team. They were quite strong, even though perhaps not entirely tamed unless they had a skilled trainer. She knew tales from listening to old Pokémon talk, from a long time ago, that Spearow were often fairly... Well, for lack of a better expression, like Jerome.
She offered the Spearow the Oran Berry nevertheless, and gazed at his feathers. “Your feathers are beautiful,” she said softly, tempted to reach out and stroke the fluffy down that the Pokémon probably had. Well, it couldn’t hurt to try, could it...? She had allowed John to fight the Zigzagoon and Near had caught Chakotay with relative ease, right? Chewing her lip thoughtfully, she inhaled somewhat sharply and inquired, “Would you consider battling me?” Sure, it was fine if the Flying type didn’t want to, but there were plenty of alternatives. Some of which she knew would be less preferable. Perhaps Jerome was a good candidate for battling? She looked past to see where the Chinchou was when she saw Near holding up his Pokéball, murmuring something about him being angry again. Well, why didn’t that surprise her...?

The Spearow was discombobulated when Silver came near and offered him some food. He assumed that the trainer would try to pick a fight with him and not be nice enough to offer an Oran berry for him to eat. He took it in his mouth and took a bite of it before he began to flap his wings about to fly off... But then he was stopped by the trainer who asked him if he wanted to battle. He stopped and thought for a minute... It was interested to battle this trainer, and the trainer looked friendly enough. Why not? He thought. He looked up to the sky and noticed a Double Rainbow which only told him that this would be a great day for him as he nodded his head and awaited for Near to make the first move. He had never been treated this nicely before, he had always needed to get his own food. It was nice, different, surprisingly... He liked it. ::Spearow:: Agreed to battle you. You go first

Hearing the Wild Pokémon’s agreement to battle made Silver feel excitement but worry at the same time, but a hand resting on her shoulder reassured her. She needed to think; a Flying type? Alright, so she would need something strong against that. She was about to consider sending Racco out since she had no advantages open to her, but Near reached forward and planted a Pokéball in her hand. Almost immediately, Jake reacted and turned around, and looked at the Pokéball with understanding. Alright, if Near was instructing him to battle under Silver’s control, he would obey, but only because Near was a nice trainer.
The Pichu hopped over to the battlefield and smiled at the Spearow, his black-tipped ears twitching before he lowered himself into a battle stance. Did Silver even know what attacks he could use? “He knows Thundershock, Magnet Rise,” Near whispered quietly into her ear, “Charm and Tail Whip.”
Alright, so now she did know. Jake smiled to himself, preparing for a tough battle ahead. It would be his first now, and he had hoped it would have been with Near, but there was always next time. “Thundershock!”

The Spearow quickly took flight into the air as a Pichu was called out at the same time. The sight of an Electric Pokemon didn't intimidate the bird at all. He knew he had the skies to his advantage. He just needed to take it easy and be watch for any lightning attacks. Sure enough, he spotted sparks crackle at the cheeks of the little Pichu before a bolt of lighting shot towards the Spearow. The bird was quick to react as he swooped to the side, dodging the deadly electricity as it shot past him. <Don't think you can win with just fancy lightning,>the bird warned. His eyes flashed a Leer at the little electric mouse before diving forward, readying his beak to jab the Pichu.
