Jazlyn would have never imagined that all the Pokémon here were so family-oriented. First the little Budew who was too young to leave her mother, and now the Zigzagoon who worried about being homesick. It made her feel a little bad for having left her own family--but how could she have stayed in the condition her life was in?
"Well," she replied, "If you think that would be too much of a problem, then you can stay, I guess. It's up to you to decide. I guess it is a pretty big decision, huh?" Ivy nodded, and the two of them waited for the Zigzagoon's decision. ooc: if the Zigzagoon decides to leave, can we ooc-ly assume Jaz and Ivy went to rest for a bit, so that they are now in the present time as opposed to a month ago when I started the thread? XD or should I finish this thread and start up a new one?

OOC: It's OK. We'll function on liquid time, so you don't need to worry about a thing. <3 IC: Zigzagoon's mind was spinning, like it had never spun before Oh Arceus. So many decisions. So many possibilities. Was he happy to live in mundaneness for the rest of his life, or did he want that little bit... more? Squeezing his e7yes shut as he put his paws over his head, he squeaked in sorrow at his conflicting emotions as the two thoughts crossed his mind. He wanted more. Yes. He wanted to do something with his life. >Do it!< he squealed, tightening the grip his paws had on his head. >Do it before I change my mind!< There were lots of Zigzagoon in the litter. He was the runt. His loss wouldn't mean a lot. And he'd come back one day. Strong. powerful. He just knew it. It was as simple as that. ::zigzagoon:: Zigzagoon wants to join you.

Annetta blinked at the Zigzagoon's sudden behavior, but it did indeed seem that he wanted to come with them. "Okay then," she replied. "But first, you need a name! How about..." she thought for a moment. "Parker! That should be your name. What do you think?" She grinned at the raccoon Pokemon before reaching over to grab her bag. From it she pulled a single Poke Ball, and held it out in front of her new friend, pressing the button on the front to open it. -1 pokeball

The Zigzagoon jumped at the ball, thinking he had made a mistake. He was sucked inside and it was done. He couldn't go back no matter how much he wanted to. It was all said and done.
The ball shook three times before a click was heard. The Zigzagoon was onto a new life!

Jazlyn smiled as she looked at the Pokeball that now contained her new teammate. "All right, we got another member of the team!" she said to Ivy, who almost fell off of her trainer's head when she stood up. <Hey Jaz, what do you say we get some rest for a while?> the Hoppip asked. Jazlyn nodded. "That's not a bad idea. I don't think we're too far away from a Pokemon Center, let's head there!" *insert time passing here* The three of them had been resting for a while, preparing and deciding what to do next. They had reached a joint decision that sticking around Route 1 for a while was probably best. Neither Ivy nor Parker was strong enough to battle higher-level Pokemon yet, so some training here would probably be a good idea.
So now Jazlyn strolled beneath the trees, looking up at the sky with its dappled light passing through the branches. Ivy sat atop her head again--now her favorite place to be, apparently, while Parker had told his trainer that he'd rather stay in the Poke Ball for now. She had no idea why he would rather be inside that little sphere than out wandering around; maybe he was worried about seeing his family along the route and feeling guilty or something. Either way, he was there for now and apparently okay with it.

His body expanded and contracted as he slithered down the route, thousands of tiny internal and external muscles making the movement possible as Caterpie made his way down La Premiere Route, in search of Berries for the harsh winter. Before long, he saw a thin tree, haggard and almost totally leafless, not to mention half submerged in white, powdery snow. But on that tree was a single blue berry, thick and ripe with a bitter juice just begging to be consumed. Caterpie felt his stomach rumble powerfully- in relation to such a small Pokemon- at the thought of the bitter husk of the nearby Oran Berry filling his throat. Oh how hungry it made him. Moreso that is. He slowly began to crawl towards the Berry, shivering with hunger and cold as he made his way forward. Of course, with his speed, a human and most other Pokemon would easily be able to beat him to the succulent treat. ::caterpie::

Since Jaz's eyes were turned skyward, she failed to notice the Caterpie crawling along the ground, but she did spot the Oran Berry in the tree. She didn't particularly see any real reason to take it, though. Ivy, however, saw the bug-type and spoke up. <Hi there!> she said warmly. Jazlyn stopped, confused, and looked down to see the little green Pokemon that her Hoppip was talking to. "Oh, hi. I didn't see you." She noticed the Caterpie's apparent determination to get somewhere, and then put two and two together and realized that he probably wanted the berry. Jazlyn was too inherently kind to ignore this, so she reached up and plucked the berry from the tree before kneeling down and offering it to the Caterpie. "Here, did you want this?"

Wild Caterpie! { Caterpie }
<Hey there.> The Caterpie said impassively, not giving the Hoppip a glance as the cold snow bit away at his feet. His body was starting to look like it was tainted red, only another reason why bugs did not get along well with the cold. He shivered as he kept his eyes stuck on that bright blue berry, and when Jazlyn reached out for it he felt his heart racing. He nearly panicked, seeing someone else take that berry of his. It was so precious, so pretty! So...his!
'Ah...what is she doing?! I don't want her to take away my berry!' He whined to himself, too cold to voice his complaints to the human that took it. Then, she got right down to his eye level, offering it to him. He had to admit, he was taken aback by it all. His friends were nice and all, but they weren't such good friends that they would give him their food. <Uh...uhm...thank you.> He sniffled, crawling onto the Oran Berry as if he was hugging it for warmth.
His tiny teeth began to eat away at its thin outer skin, and one wouldn't expect him to eat so fast, but boy, did he put that down. As soon as it was eaten away, he let out a content sigh as he leaned against the truck of a tree. Satisfying was the only word he could use to describe how eating that berry felt.

Jaz and Ivy watched the little Caterpie eat the berry hungrily. Jazlyn noticed that the bug-type was shivering with cold, and frowned. "You're welcome. But you should probably find someplace where you can stay warm. You look very cold." The girl herself was rather chilly in the winter air; she had obtained some warmer clothes but the cold was still present. <Yeah, it's awful cold out here. I hate the cold.> said Ivy, pouting.
"And be careful," Jazlyn warned. "You're probably not the only one who's hungry. I'll bet there's some hungry bird Pokemon out there, so watch out." She offered a supportive smile, despite inwardly realizing that she was once again just having friendly conversations with wild Pokemon instead of doing any training.

::caterpie:: Pokemon encounter ! Caterpie shook his head. <I got lost, actually, but I'll eventually find my way back.> He replied, getting to his many stubby feet and shaking his body in an attempt to warm himself up.
<A battle would be a nice warm up,> Offered the Caterpie, surprising himself with how many words he was saying to these strangers. Perhaps it was because they'd allowed him the berry he didn't seem to deserve. Perhaps it was the kind aura floating off them. Whatever the reason, he felt strangely friendly towards them. <Of course, I'll need to get home afterward, so I'll just surrender if I feel you've won.> The Caterpie smiled. <Want?>

Jazlyn hadn't expected the Caterpie to ask for a battle as a way of warming up, but she supposed it wouldn't be a bad idea. Besides, her team needed training badly.
"Okay then. What do you say, Ivy?" the girl replied. At her words, the Hoppip leaped down to the ground and nodded. It would be her first battle--this would definitely be interesting.
The only damage-dealing move that Ivy knew was her egg move, Double-Edge, so that would be the only way they could win the battle. Jaz just hoped the recoil damage wouldn't cause too many problems.
"All right Ivy, use Double-Edge!" Ivy leaped forward, moving at a high speed toward the Caterpie in an attempt to hit him. used double-edge. will receive recoil if it hits.

The Caterpie went flying back as the Double-Edge hit. He flopped down on his stomach and got up slowly dizzy headed. <Wow, nice one.> He said looking at the stars that were floating above his head.
Once he shook it off he started to shoot some gooy stringy stuff at the Hoppip. The String Shot was aimed and then he got up the energy to go for a Tackle.

Ivy's Double-Edge attack had hit and seemed to have done a good amount of damage; it had also left its user a bit dazed. Jazlyn looked on, worried, as the Hoppip took a moment to get back to her feet--but just as she did so, she was hit by sticky strings of goo that the Caterpie had launched. "C'mon, break out of it and try another Double-Edge!" Jazlyn said. She knew it would be risky, but they had to deal damage somehow. Ivy struggled around in the strings for a moment before finally coming free of them--again, just in time for the opponent's attack. She went skidding back a bit as the Tackle struck, but still seemed to be in decent shape and once again launched herself at the bug-type. took recoil from double-edge; hit by string shot and tackle; used double-edge

Wild Caterpie! { Caterpie } Hit by Double-Edge Uses Tackle
<Oh no, here she comes!> He winced as the Double Edge collided into him, though thankfully the Hoppip was a relatively light Pokemon, the high power of the move still made it painful. He backed up, feeling a small bruise form on his side. The recoil done to the Hoppip wouldn't of been too bad that time, but if she struck that area again, it might result in a critical hit.
He had to regroup, that was all! It was cold and all, but this was what he needed in order to warm himself up. He huffed as the dry air scratched at his lungs, making it painful to breathe in a lot of the cold air. Still, the more he crawled, the more eager he was to get another Tackle in.
Maybe the String Shot from earlier would've made it harder for her to dodge, but he couldn't be sure. All he knew was that he had a target, and he had to make his moves count. That was what a wise Metapod once told him, and it was really all he knew about battles.

Once again, Ivy's attack struck; it seemed to do a bit less damage this time though, and the recoil was not as bad. The Hoppip saw the Caterpie's Tackle coming and attempted to roll out of the way, but the combination of recoil and String Shot residue slowed her down a bit. The Tackle collided with her foot, which hurt a fair amount but didn't do a huge amount of damage. Ivy was getting weaker now; Jazlyn had to think. Did she have enough in her for one more attack? Another strike to the Caterpie could do decent damage, but it could also cause trouble for Ivy. "Try one more time!" Jazlyn said, a bit nervously, and Ivy got up off the ground and charged once more at her foe, aiming for the same spot she had hit last time. Jazlyn could only hope that this worked in her advantage. hit by recoil from double-edge and tackle; used double-edge. weakening a bit.

A tiny squeal escaped Caterpie's mouth as the Hoppip's body slammed into him, hitting the same spot for critical damage. He felt something inside pop and move. That couldn't be good... How could a Hoppip do so much damage, anyway?! They were light enough to blow away in the wind yet they could attack like that?! He wasn't the strongest of Pokemon but he thought he could do better than a freaking Hoppip. Struggling with a little difficulty to right himself, he sent a barrage of string at the Hoppip and following it up by hurling his body at the little cottonweed, determined to win the day. ::caterpie:: Caterpie used String Shot and Tackle. The attack hit and seemed to do quite a bit of damage--unfortunately, this also meant that Ivy took more damage too. On top of that, she was soon covered by more of the sticky string, and as she struggled to get it off she just barely missed the Caterpie's next Tackle. This was not good, Jazlyn thought. But then she remembered something. "Ivy, use Synthesis!" The Hoppip nodded, and then her body began to glow as she took in energy from the winter sun. Though the remnants of String Shot were still stuck to her body, she was feeling much better after her little recharge. hit by recoil from double edge; hit by string shot; dodged tackle; used synthesis and recovered hp

Caterpie bit back a whiny complaint as the Hoppip healed herself. Caterpie wasn't exactly thrilled at how this battle was going to turn out. Initially, he had thought he could manage to win this fight. However, the Hoppip proved that she could recover some of her health while he had to endure the pain without any means of healing. The little worm shot another string of the sticky web at the Hoppip before charging forward. Used String Shot and Tackle

It seemed now that Ivy had gained the advantage. That healing move came in handy. However, the Hoppip was soon struck down by more gooey strings. All of the built-up string had left her struggling to move and vulnerable to the Caterpie's next Tackle, which hit her square in the face. The impact, though, sent her skidding backward and out of the grip of the string. "One more Double-Edge!" Jazlyn shouted, knowing that the battle was definitely shifting in her favor now. Ivy leaped forward once more, determined to finish the battle this time. hit by string shot and tackle; used double-edge

The Caterpie tumbled backwards. He landed on back and groaned painfully. He got up to his...feet(?) and shook his head. For a Hoppip that thing can sure do some damage! He shook his head. No time for backing down now! The Caterpie didn't bother waiting, he went right on into a full on Tackle. His little...legs started across the ground and was heading right at the Hoppip.
