Atsina shivered at the cold wind that blew over the route she was walking on. She was smiling, though, despite the conditions. She took a pokeball from her belt and tossed it. A bronzor popped out and let out a musical cry as it floated around Atsina happily.
"Take it easy, Paleo. We have a long way to go. You'll tire yourself out." she chided, though her voice held laughter.
< No I won't! I'm just glad to be out. Can I stay out for good? > the pokemon asked, moving to hover in front of Atsina's face.
"Yes, yes, alright. At least for now." she said, and started walking, her pokemon following happily, hovering around and going off to each side at intervals to look at trees and rocks.

A sudden shriek shattered the peaceful silence of the afternoon. A clumsy Zigzagoon suddenly appeared from under a snow-covered bush, blinking it's beady eyes a few times. It stared at the trainer intensely. It had never seen her before!
It darted out of hiding, strolling over to the girl eagerly.

Unused to having wild pokemon dart up to her, Atsina took a step back. She frowned, confused. Weren't wild pokemon afraid of trainers? Didn't they try to stay away from someone who could capture them and keep them forever? Atsina blinked down at the Zigazoon, before hesitantly smiling.
Paleo was not nearly as put off by the sudden appearance. He hovered down to eye level with the eager pokemon. < Hi! > he greeted happily. He'd seen zigazoon's before he'd been captured, and he'd never been hurt by one. So of course he had no fear of the newcomer. < Aren't you afraid of my trainer? > he asked curiously.
Atsina was content to simply let Paleo do the talking here. She had no wish to be bitten or scratched out of some misunderstanding or miscommunication. She stood in the middle of the road shivering.

<Hiya...> the small Zigzagoon cheered back playfully. From the mere way it spoke it was quite obvious that it was a young pokemon. He tilted his head for a moment as it watched Paleo. It didn't have wings so how was it up in the air? The idea vanished quite quickly as it usually does with young pokemon. <Me? Afraid?> the pokemon giggled. The giggle was quite awkward proving that it was a boy.
Nearly imediately he lowered himself to the ground and growled. The growl was about as weird as the giggle. It was the growl of a kid who was trying to act like an adult. An unpracticed growl. <I have nothing to be afraid of. I am the greatest fighter you will ever meet!> the youngling lied. His tail shook in the air above him as his butt moved from side to side. He looked ready to pounce. <Let's do battle!> he shouted out. What harm could this kid possibly do?

Atsina laughed. She had to. This pokemon was so funny, so juvenile. "You're sure you want to fight us?" she asked gently, taking off her heavy pack and setting it down on the ground. She rolled her shoulders and cracked her knuckles, eager for her first battle, but worried that the young Zigazoon had no real idea of what fighting meant.
The bronzor nodded, though. < Yeah! Let's have a battle! Come on, Atsina, please? > the ancient pokemon begged.
Atsina sighed. "Alright, if he's sure." she said uncertainly. She motioned for Paleo to take up his position. "Tackle, Paleo!" she called.
Paleo hovered up, and then shot forward, aiming at the young Zigazoon.

The Zigzagoon, having been ready to pounce was already ready to dodge such an attack. He leapt right to the side and giggled. <I told you I was great!> He was getting far too ahead of himself. The battle had barely begun. The pokemon, although young could notice one thing. He was on the ground and the other pokemon was in the air. This was surely going to be a problem for the battle if he was to win. He only knew a couple attacks and the only physical one was tackle.
He growled quickly, not able to think of anything else to do. This growl was different then the other one. This one was an attack. As he growled to save time, an idea popped into his head. He ran over to Atsina and put his forepaws up onto her leg. <Can you lift me up so I can tackle your pokemon?> he asked in a sweet kid-like way. He blinked once before adding on, <Please?>

Paleo shuddered lightly from the growl. He moved away, trying to lessen the effect.
Atsina, meanwhile, blinked down at the Zigazoon. She looked up at Paleo swiftly before turning back to the Zigazoon. She knelt down. "You know, usually you don't ask your enemy for help. But alright, I'll help. Just watch your claws, alright?" she said, with an amused smile plastered across her face. She gently picked up the pokemon and held it out, keeping her arms straight out, like a spring board that could be leapt from. She was fairly sure that one try was all the pokemon needed to learn that this method of attack would not work.

Remembering to say his 'Thank you', the young Zigzagoon eagerly jumped into the humans arms. Having a difficult time while trying it, keeping his claws in to refrain from hurting Atsina, and keeping perfectly balanced at the same time. This was no easy feat, for his legs were shaking with uneasiness as he readyied his body into one giant Tackle attack at Paleo.
He wasn't as surprised as anyone else would be, actually making a small distance in the air. For a few good moments he felt like he was SuperZigzagoon! Flying through the cold air in order to fight the forces of evil. His claws came out to show he was in full-battle mode again.
<Who hoooooo!> He cheered to himself, landing on the ground with a soft thump. Looking into the air to see if he made any contact at all with the floating Pokemon.

Atsina tried hard to hold still for the silly Zigazoon. She watched as he launched out at Paleo. She didn't think to command him to dodge, and her oversight meant that the pokemon's tackle had hit with a glancing blow. The bronzor spun in the air a few times and the straightened. Paleo hadn't really expected the attack to hurt as much as it had. Atsina could see the annoyance and embarrassment in his eyes.
She smiled. "Paleo, confusion!" she commanded. The bronzor suddenly emanated several strong psychic waves, aiming for the zigazoon. Atsina watched to see how effective the attack would be.

Giving an annoying smile in Paleo's direction, the Zigzagoon puffed out his chest. Trying to show just how awesome he was, but by doing that he was holding his breath, and that didn't last long. Letting it go and gasping for air, he turned his head to see that while he was teasing the Bronzor and showing off to Atsina, a strange attack was heading its way.
Strange, meaning it had no idea what it was. The Psychic waves made the air look like it was a humid day, and everything the eye could see was shaking like water. Which was confusing the small Normal type, especially when the true pain of the attack hit him. His whole body felt a tingling sensation that caused pain, and he gave a weary eye over at Paleo. Deciding to get to work in case that attack came at him again. Letting out a Growl, to lower its attack strength. Walking next to the levitating Pokemon's shadow, the Zigzagoon attempted to jump at it. Since he couldn't tackle it with his body, he could at least try to Tackle it with his head.

Paleo was getting tired now, having been hit by two growls and a tackle. He sort of twitched in the air, falling closer to the ground.
The last tackle had caught both trainer and pokemon by surprise, and neither was going to make that mistake again. "Dodge it, Paleo!" Atsina shouted. The bronzor shot upwards, causing the zigazoon's tackle to fall short of it's intended target.
'It's weakening. I should be able to capture it soon! Just a few more hits.' Atsina thought. She took a pokeball out of her pack and held it loosely, ready for the right moment.
"Paleo! Confusion again!" she called, remembering how effective it had been the first time.

Once again, the strange effects from before appeared to the Zigzagoon. His eyes darted around for the source of the attack, but failed miserably. He was able to note the deep pressure he felt on his body before the pain fully entered his body. Since last tim ewas his first in experiencing a Confusion, it wasn't as bad this time.
Still, it hurt. This was the second attack that had struck the normal type, and already he was getting tired. He was brimming with energy, and would deny any signs of fatigue. He let out a sad and aggitated sigh when he realised that attacking the floating Bronzor would be harder than he thought. It was just floating too high, but it wasn't like a bird. It was just...there. Same height, constantly.
He needed some way to reach the floating Paleo. That was for sure, and he looked around. There were several tree's nearby, and by flexing his claws he had an idea. Being the resourceful Pokemon he was, he ran over to the closest tree and began to climb it. At least until he could get to the first branch that would hold his weight. Running to the end of the branch, he gulped. Being much higher than he predicted, which was big to a small Pokemon like him, he almost didn't jump. Just hesitated before jumping off to try a Tackle attack on the Bronzor. But he didn't quite feel like he would be in the mood to climb another tree just to get in another attack.

At first Atsina had thought the zigazoon had had enough, and was running away. But then she realized what it was attempting. She watched warily, hoping the small pokemon wouldn't hurt itself.
Paleo was curious about what the zigazoon was doing. He floated closer, staring up at the branch. Atsina didn't notice until it was too late. The zigazoon launched into the air. "No! Paleo, get away from it!" she ordered, but it was too late. The zigazoon forced Paleo out of the air and onto the ground. Atsina growled to herself. It had been a hard hit. Paleo wouldn't last much longer at this rate. "Come on, Paleo, stay with me! Confusion, now!" she said, hoping a direct hit to the pokemon at close range would really knock it down.

Brown and white stripes landed safely to he ground, for the attack from before allowed him an extra step in reaching the soft dirt and snow below. If it hadn't, well, then that might hurt quite a bit. It wasn't a subject that the tiny raccoon wanted to think about right now.
His thoughts began to travel to how he was feeling at the moment. Legs were trembling from so many Psychic attacks, and his body was sore from tackling the Steel type so often. It had only taken two attacks and was reaching some kind of limit, but from the looks of things another Confusion was aimed at him.
His mind was just so scrambled at the attack, and he ended up getting thrown back a couple of feet. Getting weaker just made these attacks seem stronger and stronger. He wasn't sure what to do from there, since he didn't know how to attack with such low energy. Doing the only thing possible, he let out a Growl at Paleo.

Atsina felt rather bad for the zigazoon. It was obviously feeling the effects of three confusion attacks. It wouldn't last much longer. She glanced at Paleo. He had shuddered at the attack, and was clearly getting close to his limit. He hovered only a feet few from the ground, and he wasn't zipping around as he'd done when first released from his pokeball. He was watching the zigazoon, and there was no real energy in his look.
Paleo wished the battle was over. He'd never been so tired before. "Try a tackle Paleo, it's almost over." Atsina encouraged. Paleo nodded slowly and then shot forward, aiming directly at the zigazoon on the ground in front of them.

Despite how weak the tackle was, after so many Growl attacks, it was more than enough to knock thr Zigzagoon off of its feet. At first he was just stick on its hind legs, wavering about like a small child with swirls for eyes. Showing just how tired he was, but ended up falling on his back. Only a small pillow of snow to cushion his fall, he remained limp on the ground.
A small sigh escaped from his mouth as he accepted the defeat of the battle. He could get up and run if he truely wanted too, since he was only 'fainted'. But he was curious about what Atsina was going to do, and the snow wasn't cold enough to really bother him.
Yay~ Paleo gains a level!
Capture, or move on?

Capture, naturally
Atsina smiled sadly. She was thrilled with her first victory. Paleo, despite his fatigue, gave a happy cry and flew in a wobbly figure '8' pattern, celebrating. Atsina felt bad for the poor curious pokemon, but she knew it was a necessary part of training. She lifted her hand, the one holding the pokeball.
She tossed it at the zigzagoon, making sure it would hit it dead on. She hoped it was weakened enough to be an easy capture. His spunk and attitude would be a good addition to her small team. And she was remembering the Ranger's beautiful Linoone. If she could train the zigzagoon hard enough, she could have a Linoone of her own. She watched the pokeball carefully, keeping her eyes on the arc it made as it flew and approached the feinted pokemon.

Right on target, the Zigzagoon was sucked into the tiny sphere. Into a completely new atmosphere the Pokemon's spirit relaxed. Understanding that it had the option on fighting its prison/home, or staying with the trainer. Personally, he thought that he could benefit greatly and be so much stronger by staying with her. So, he refuesed to fight the sphere. No shaking requiered, now he was a tame Pokemon. You have just caught~
Species: Zigzagoon Ability:Pick Up Type: Normal Gender: Male Level: 5 Attacks: Tackle, Growl, Tail Whip Personality: Choose as you wish
After a successful capture, peace seemed to return to this particular section of Route 1. Many new sights could be seen from the dirt path, an option that could be taken if a Pokemon Center is needed. Or if you were on the hunt for wild Pokemon, a search through trees and bushes would be worth a shot. The choice is yours. (( -shotforlazyness- ))

Atsina pumped a fist in the air, grinning like a moron. Her first pokemon! And what a cute thing it was too. Atsina went over and retrieved the pokeball. She brought it back over to her pack and tossed it to release her newest addition. The zigzagoon came out looking rather confused at first, but then proceeded to bounce around her happily. Atsina rummaged in her pack for a potion. She went over to Paleo.
"Great fight, Paleo. Here, hold still." she instructed, and sprayed him with the potion. He felt instantly better, giving a happy cry and flying in an odd loop above Atsina's head. Heaving her pack back up onto her shoulder, Atsina considered the zigzagoon carefully. He was darting all over, snuffling through grass and rocks. She whistled, and he instantly darted over to her, his tail flicking and his eyes shining.
"I'm going to call you Dart, okay?" Atsina asked, smiling.
< Dart? That's an awesome name! And you're gonna teach me to fight reall hard, right? And we'll get to travel and do cool stuff, yeah? > Dart asked, rearing up to place his front paws on her knees as it regarded her anxiously.
Atsina laughed. "Yes, yes, we'll get to do all of those things. Now, come on you two, let's see if we can find any other pokemon." she said, veering off the path and heading for a patch of tall grass along some trees. Her boots crunched in the frosty grass. She knew her pokemon needed to be much stronger before she could consider facing the first gym leader, just ahead at the end of this route.

Besides a couple of bird Pokmon flying in the unreachable skies, not much was going on during the past ten minutes. That is, until a horrendus stench wavered over to the noses of Atsina and crew. It was practically impossible not to notice it, unless you didn't have a nose. Then it was possible, and you'd have the ability to laugh at the funny faces they made. The smell began to thin out, and spread into the air around it. Making the stench less noticable to those that had smelled the worst of it. A sigh escaped the lips of a nearby Pokemon that waddled out of the bushes. It looked as though it had been attacked, but survived with only a few scratches. "Stunky, stun." It muttered, looking around with a dazed expression on its face. Aware that Atsina, Dart, and Paleo were near, but didn't really care.
