'Somewhere, over the Rainbow, I'm still a happy person.'
That's all Namine could think as she walked into Route one, her fiery Chimchar right beside her, staring blankly into Route one like a child looking into a candy store. "You think we'll capture lots of Pokemon?" Namine asked Chimchar, watching as he looked up with her in question. Not like Namine would be able to understand him at all anyways, she sighed, switching her concentration back onto Route one.
After all, this was her first journey, her very first start and Namine ran away from home to do this. The sun was shinning brightly, up into the sky right around noon or so and you could easily hear all the Pokemon in Route one if you listened carefully. Namine loves all species of Pokemon, but had a love for cutesy ones the most. Then again, she'd go for anything, as long as she just had Pokemon.

A few birds cherped cheerfully, happy that no one was chasing after them with nets and bronze cages like those demented self dubbed 'bird-catchers'. One Spearow in particular was floating, lazily on an air current, allowing himself to sink into a semi-concious state. Eyes blinking closed, as he began to feel the effect of flying all night suddendly crash all at once. Letting out a exhusted sigh, the Pokémon gazed around her. It was a surprisingly warm day for it almost being winter.
A flock of terrified Pidgey passed the drowzt Spearow, but he paid no attention to them. Pidgey got frightened over every single little thing. Heck, he knew a Pidgey that had gotten scared of flying leaf, believing it was going to kill him in his sleep.
The Spearow shook his head in exasperation as the flock faded into the distance, he really was getting tired. His head was drooping and his wings were getting more tired every second. He finally decided to land on a tree branch, but misaimed and instead landed on the ground. He stood there, exhusted and fell asleep on his feet. He remained upright and simply looked like he was enjoying the sunlight.
Goodness knows though, he didn't take well to being woken up. But, Namine didn't know that now did she?

Namine looked at the Spearow that seemed to be enjoying the sunlight in the Route one road. "Wow, it's so adorable!" She smiled and then looked to her Chimchar. "Use leer, then scratch Chimchar!" Namine giggled.
Watching as her fire chimp shot the bright beams at the Spearow, then ran at it quickly to use scratch attack.

The Spearow stuttered around slowly, seeming confused as to why he had just been attacked. Why had he been? Where was he? Turning around, he spotted the Chimchar. Suddenly, it became clear why he had been scrached. Didn't Chimchar know the attack Scratch? Now that wasn't nice, was it? To be hit by an attack when he didn't do anything! How extremely, extragavantly, rude! He would not tolerate such, even if he was asleep.
Flying high into the air, he suddenly dropped down. High speeds would be useful in this battle. Of wills or of strenghth, he wasn't sure. But he was sure he would get even with the fire chimp. Definitely. His beak quickly turned long and sharp. If anyone was to go right there, where his beak was - well, you wouldn't like to see what would happen. However, a Pokemon hit would only loose HP, not get poked through by the sharpness. At least he knew that. Although he rather did want the Chimchar to loose all its HP...

Namine bit her bottom lip eagerly, watching the battle. It was her very first and the only reason why she attacked is because she wanted some experience, some fighting skills. "Quick, dodge, jump and scratch!"
Namine often watched battles in the wild, watching the ways Pokemon would use their own bodies to battle. Chimchar dodged the peck, jumping quickly as he turned to use a scratch attack with his claws.

<Hmph,> he snorted. That was all. A 'hmph'. He was hit by the Scratch attack though, and was sent flailing to the ground. How nice. Leaping back up again, a snarl on his mind, he grimaced. It wasn't good... no, it was not. It wasn't as if he didn't want to battle. It was just weird. After all, he hadn't been attacking the Pokemon. Not at all.
Using powerful strokes of his wings, he flew into a few air currents again. Then his beak lengthened again, and he was using Peck attack. This was an attack that he loved to use; it was just so pointy! He liked it.

Chimchar was hit with peck and skidded back some as Namine squealed. She didn't like to see her Pokemon get hurt and this was no exception to the matter."Quick, scratch again!"
Namine called out, watching her Chimchar run after the Spearow with his claws ready to use scratch.

Spearow started to pull up out of his Peck dive, turning his head slightly to smirk at the Chimchar. He had looked over just in time, too, for now he could actually see the Scratch coming. A few seconds later and he would have surely gotten hit again!
But not this time. He dipped his left wing and banked sharply to the left, barely dodging the Scratch attack by a hair's width. He pulled around in a full circle and used a sort of sling-shot effect to make his next dive fast. His beak started to glow a dull white color as Spearow powered up for another Peck attack. They would pay for waking him up!

Namine smirked, she now knew the ways of this Pokemon by watching carefully. "Dodge, then scratch again!" Namine cried out as her Chimchar rolled to the side on the ground, then jumped towards the bird Pokemon to use Scratch.

He had missed with that last dive, but hadn’t crashed into the ground because he had caught himself with quick flaps of his wings. It was a tiresome effort when one owned such small wings, and things could not be accomplished as easily as it would for, say, a Fearow. The Spearow could tell his opponent was going to strike; there was a horrible, looming sense that covered his head. It was his battle instinct, and it was screaming at him to get out of the way.
He had managed to escape harm to his body, but there was a claw that simply raked across his face, leaving ugly claw marks in their place. The wounds weren’t permanent, of course. They had only come from a level 5 Chimchar that barely had any nails. Let alone claws. But it hurt. And he didn’t like his definition of hurt. He used another powerful Leer attack while he still had the chance, it would weaken the Chimchar’s defenses, and might make it easier to make a direct hit.
The only other thing he could do, was try and Peck at the Chimchar. With his strength weakening, he didn’t even try making a dive this time. Now he had to be as straightforward as ever, and hopefully that would be enough to break the Chimchar’s spirit.

Namine bit down on her lip hard, she hated violence but, enjoyed a Pokemon battle any day. "Quickly, scratch again." Namine commanded. Chimchar was hit with leer and then peck. Which didn't hurt him much but, made him more angry then anything. He ran towards the Spearow with scratch.

The Spearow cawed with satisfaction as he managed to strike the rather obnoxiously rude ape. A sly grin slipped across is beak, giving him quite an evil look. The Spearow reared his head, and scored the ground roughly, although mostly a polite bird in spirit, he didn't like being awoken from his sleep.
A strange feeling was bubbling up inside of him, a feeling of pleasure, enjoyment. It felt so wrong, but it felt so right. The flying type closed his eyes and let the wild battling spirit inside of him take over. Although he was tired, he got a boost of adrenaline as he spotted the Chimchar charing towards him. With a mighty flap of the wings he quickly soared over the attacking Pokémon.
The boost didn't last long as he quickly landed beside him, the tiredness getting to him once again, but he knocked the mild obstacle aside, planning to crawl over it later and sleep once he had beaten this infuriating Chimchar that had disturbed his rest.
Without hesitating any longer, the Spearow only waited mere seconds for his beak to elongate and turn as sharp as you could imagine. Serious pain would come to whoever was struck by this.

Namine knew this battle was getting long and now noted of each the Spearow's moves, knowing what he was going to do next. Waiting till he got close to Chimchar, and almost to the ground, Namine quickly yelled out her command. "Chimchar, dodge then scratch!"
Chimchar rolled to the right, possibly allowing the Spearow to hit the ground and quickly, Chimchar turned to scratch the small bird.

Spearow let out a squawk as the Chimchar disappeared from under him and left nothing but hard ground. Pulled out of his dive and flapped his wings frantically, trying to keep from crashing into the ground, but only succeeded in not landing on his face. He still slammed into the ground with a flurry of feathers. As if to add injury to. . . well, injury, the Chimchar swiped his claws down the Spearow's back. Spearow let out another wail of pain and flapped his wings to try to get away from it, but he only managed to tire himself out even more. That was all she wrote for the Spearow. He flopped to the ground, his wings spread out on either side of him. He lied there unmoving, unconscious, and feeling quite humilated. [Chimchar Gained One Level] [Spearow May Be Caught]

Namine smiled and jumped in the air, giggling quiet loudly. "You did it!" She squeaked, before petting her Chimchar and having him follow her. Deciding not to capture the Spearow, Namine motioned for Chimchar to come along as she continued down Route one.

<OhhhhOhhhOhhhh! OHOHHHH!> A scream much like Tarzan screamed out through the tree’s of Route One. Standing on top of the branches was a lone Seedot, her eyes glaring down at Namine and Chimchar, and the discarded figure of a Spearow. The sight seemed to only make her even madder, as her face was scrunched up in a scowl. <Pokemon are friendly creatures! How could you do something like that to her?> She bitterly spoke with a passion, leaping from her spot and landed with ease before the duo. Though she was small, her energy and determination made up for it. <And her sidekick! Here for backup!> Another Ledyba appeared from the underbrush, a couple of twigs and leaves sticking out from between his polka dotted shell. His entrance wasn’t as dramatic, and his spunk wasn’t even close to match up with his pal, but he was equally threatening. <We’re the Guardians of the forest! Prepare to fight!> They chorused with their voices blended in in harmony, as if it was a sole voice instead of two distinct ones. Will you fight?

"AWWWW!! SO CUTE!" Namine screamed wildly, her eyes glistening with pure joy as the two appeared. "Aww, just look at you!" She pointed at the Ledyba and smiled brightly.
"Chimchar, leer, then scratch now!" Namine commanded, wanting bad to capture the Ledyba as her own. She watched Chimchar send a bright light at the Ledyba, then run at it with sharp claws. Two on one didn't seem very fair but, Namine just wanted to capture the Ledyba.

The two pokemon saw the human's outburst as a warcry, and jumped backward at her outstretched finger. <It's hostile! Attackkk!> Yowled the miniature acorn, as it stood its ground for a bide attack. Unfortunately, it wasn't attacked that turn.
The ladyba, noticing that he was the target of the trainer, raised his guard. He wasn't ready, however. The bright light entered his eye, temporarily stunning him; then he felt sharp claws pierce his sides. The bug pokemon chittered agitatedly as the pain shot through him.
He had a plan. As he opened his lips, a sharp sound started to echo through the air, and small rays exited the bug's mouth. Supersonic.

Namine bit her lip as the super sonic took some health from her beloved Chimchar. "Quick, scratch again!" She cried out as her little fire monkey quickly ran for the Ledyba once more.

The Seedot narrowed his eyes in frustration. So much for this stupid Bide attack he had decided to use! He wasn't the one under attack! Now he just sat there, doing nothing, and waited for himself to be attacked. How useless. . .
The Ledyba was ready this time. He danced to the side of the Scratch attack and smirked. {Ha! Didn't hit me!} he taunted, running at the Chimchar for a Tackle attack.
