Still clutching the egg, Duke watched as the strings further entangled the tauros, and Strings landed a direct hit to the bulls head. Any other trainer would have been jumping up and down at such a result, but not Duke. After all that's where its horns were, and tauros were used to crashing their heads into trees and knocking them over if the pokedex was right, so that head was probably pretty thick. <Harrumph....can I have...the egg back?>Startled Duke glanced down, having forgotten for a moment that the slugma had even been there at all. With a smile he gently placed the egg once more on the pokemon's back, feeling the heat radiating from this strange red pokemon's back. "Thanks for trying to help." Duke said with a smile, before sitting down beside the slugma. "So what are you doing wandering around with that egg?" Duke inquired, his eyes fixed still on the thrashing tauros and his pokemon, "I'm sure you have quite the story to tell."<I found it...out of place...dangerous....So I volunteered....to take it home...got lost....and now here...> was the response, as the slugma looked back at the small egg, feeling quite protective of the little thing. Sure he had no idea what was inside, but they'd been together so long now it'd be hard to leave it once it was back with its family. "I see..well, I hope it gets home and is happy!" was Dukes reply, as Strings was flung from the tauros' head, tumbling through the air, only to be caught by Abby, who then teleported them in front of the tauros. Even though Abby hadn't taken any blows yet, and Strings had been spared the brunt of the damage by Abby's continual saves, his pokemon were clearly wearing down. Neither was used to battle, and the constant movement, combined with Carrying strings on and off was exhausting the psychic type. Likewise, Strings seemed to still be tired from the fight with Emperor, and it seemed unlikely the poor thing could take much more of this. "Strings Tackle!" he called, watching the little worm race at the large bull, leaping upwards, in an attempt to strike it in the chest. ::tauros:: Pokemon battle ! Tauros gave a roar of anger as the damage continually piled up against him. His poor bovine butt still stung with pain, his eyes were burning from smog and web, and his legs, all tangled up, were hardly mobile. In this state he'd hardly be able to win against the trainer, who was stacking two or three pokemon against him at once. With that unfair advantage he'd be hard-pressed to even get out of the battle conscious.
He had to run, instinct told him. His pack was surely miles away by now and with all this energy loss he'd be hard-pressed to catch up to them in the next hour. He had to run. Even as the Caterpie launched his feeble little body at the bull's bulky chest, resulting in critical damage, he hardly felt it due to his surge of adrenaline. He turned, and with urgent haste, forced the power he felt into his legs. The Tauros' magnificent hooves pounded the ground as he ran in the direction of his pack, long trails of string dragging behind him.
Tauros was hit by Tackle. Tauros' ability, Anger Point, is in effect. Tauros is trying to flee the battle. Speed: 40mph.

Well this was an awkward situation wasn't it? His pokemon were exhausted, and their target, who was escaping, appeared equally tired. Duke didn't want to hurt his pokemon, but he was a trainer, he couldn't just pass up such a rare pokemon. Biting back his concern, Duke turned back to his pokemon. They had put so much effort into this fight so far, he couldn't just steal their thunder. "Abby teleport Strings once more! Same as the last time!" he shouted, hoping the aerial attack he'd used earlier would work again, since it was clear to him, he wasn't going to get much more from his two pokemon. The heat beside him drew his attention momentarily from the fight, as he noticed the slugma had moved a little closer, looking at him with a perplexed expression. <The Bad Guy is running....why are you...chasing it?>One hand reaching out to gently stroke the heated egg on the slugma's back, Duke wasn't sure how to respond. After a moment he smiled slightly. "That isn't an evil pokemon. Its herd was charging our way and when we tried to dodge by accident we landed on its back. It got mad and this is what happened. Its alone now, away from its herd, and I want to catch and take care of it." he said simply before turning his attention back to the battle, on time to see Caterpie once again race downwards toward the moving tauros. ::abra:: Abby used Teleport!::caterpie:: Strings used Tackle on TaurosIncubated for 4 post(s)

- Having expected that the Caterpie was going to try and attack him again, the Tauros’s gaze shifted upwards to where the Abra had teleported. He was already trying to run off with those burn wounds stinging at his sides, and having the String Shot encasing his body was of no help to his cause. He let out a loud, rumbling cry as he maneuvered his giant bulk around to the shelter of a tree. With an indignant snort as the Caterpie was hurled after him, he figured that if the bug was smart, it would somehow get its way out of this situation.
- Of course he was still under the effects of Rage and Anger Point, and with his attack to the max he started ramming into the tree in front of him. One strike. Boom. Two strikes. Ka-pow. Three strikes? TIMBER, BABY. That oak tree had no chance against the Tauros and his intense desire to crush something. The tree snapped at its base, where the Tauros rammed his hard head into as the tree started to slam down like a baseball bat on the Caterpie.
- He snarled in a rage as his tails whipped against his hard hide in an attempt to keep him mad. Yeah, being mad was good. It meant less talking, and more action. Action got things done, and when the heat was on, it was on. He watched as the tree tumbled down, noticing that some of the flimsy branches were only lightweight stuff. Leaves weren’t going to hurt anybody. Now the bulkier area of the tree? That would hurt anybody.
::Tauros:: Hurt by burn. Dodged Tackle and knocked down a freaking tree aimed at the Caterpie. Yeah. He's pissed.

Wait...since then did pokemon go using weapons? In stunned silenced he watched the tauros not only knock a tree down, but use it like a club. Duke leapt to his feet and ran towards the tree, feeling some tears in his eyes as he watched the tree slam into the ground, feeling like he'd been punched in the gut. Strings was down there, how could the little bug type survive? He had promised to protect it...hadn't he? "Strings!"*~*~*~* Moments Earlier*~*~*~* Ooof! Smashing into things was never fun, even less so when you completely missed your target. Strings was aching all over as it was, and all these attacks where he was throw from the sky were definitely not helping him. That evil abra! It probably was enjoying this...and no doubt throwing him from much higher then it needed to! Well, once he was done with tauros he'd give abby a piece of his mi--- oh crap! Shaking from head to two, Strings could only watch in horror as the large oak was Swung at him! Running in circles the little worm eventually decided that moving was a good idea. As he raced away he glanced back, seeing a particularly large branch about to hit him. Oh no this wasn't good. Eyes Squeezing shut, the little worm braced itself for a quick death. *~*~*~*~*~* Tearing at the branches, oblivious to the threat the still raging Tauros posed, Duke struggled to find his pokemon. If Strings was gone...he wasn't sure he could forgive himself. As the trainer thrashed about through the trees, Slugma slowly made his way forward, glaring at the tauros. This guy wasn't that bad, and his pokemon certainly didn't deserve trees falling on them! Heh, this might not be his battle, but he couldn't on good conscious leave these people alone! Besides, this egg is moving a lot...Watch the egg please...I'll beat bull... Taking the egg, Duke watched the slugma head towards the bull pokemon, before once again searching for his pokemon. The search though was short lived, as Duke let out a cry of surprised dismay. Abby lay on the ground, completely unconscious, curled aroudn the still cowering Strings. Recalling how malicious the psi pokemon had been to the little worm, it was rather unexpected it had saved Strings. The sight brought a smile to his lips though, as he picked up the little worm with his spare hand, placing it beside him, before grabbing Abby's pokeball and returning her. Too shaken to speak, let alone keep fighting, the tiny Caterpie simply hid behind Duke, continuing to shake uncontrollably. *~*~*~*~* <Go away!...Shoo!...You bully!> Slugma shouted, firing a burst of embers at the tauros once more. In all honesty he didn't want to fight, especially since he had never really been a good battler, but what else could he do? Hopefully shouting / shooting fire at an enraged, homicidal bull would make it...go...away? Slugma used Ember on Tauros!Abby fainted!Strings is hiding!Incubated for 5 post(s) (ooc: hatch time! )

Fortunately, that ember attack seemed to do the trick. The tauros was already burned and the idea of having another fire wound, even if he did want to completely crush those insubordinate pokemon, was not something he felt like dealing with. It might have also been due to his Rage, slowly being dispelled, and the knowledge that he really had to get back to his herd. Besides, he had already gotten rid of most of this stupid human's team. Duke seemed quite shaken by the loss of his abra and the caterpie was as good as fainted. Using one last rage to keep his speed up, the tauros ran away, charging through seedlings and destroying trees as he went. He had a herd to catch up to, and a mother that would scold him for getting side tracked. Tauros ran awayStrings and Abby gain (2) levels each Slugma gains (1) level

Strings was feeling strange. Ever since that tree almost fell on him he felt weak, vulnerable...he needed protection! Even as the tauros left he was just too shaken. Inching backwards, the small caterpie tilted his head upwards and began firing a string shot. The strings gently fell around him, and as he did so he began to glow a bright white. He could feel himself changing, yes this was just what he needed!
As the light faded a metapod sat in Strings place. Blinking slowly, Strings felt immensely satisfied with his change. Ha! Like this no one could stop him.
"Whoa Strings congratulations!" Duke exclaimed, smiling slightly at the newly evolved pokemon. Man, if he'd evolved sooner maybe he could of taken that tauros! How cool would that have been?
The sudden shuddering of the egg on his lap however drew his attention. Startled, Duke stared at the egg as it wobbled back and forth, before beginning to crack. Oh man it was hatching!
"Slugma...uh you better get over here!" he called, glancing up at the slugma which was trying its best to get back over to them all. It was going as fast as it could, but it clearly wasn't going to be soon enough.
As the egg burst open, Duke let out a cry of surprise as a pair of strange yellow eyes blinked up at him. The blue thing climbing from the egg looked vaguely human...if by human you meant grotesquely deformed and blue. Smiling nervously the trainer watched it stare up at him, red cheek pouches expanding and contracting as it croaked curiously.
<Mommy?> the little pokemon asked, its creepy eyes looking up at Duke expectantly.
"Uh...i'm definitely not your mommy! Besides, I'm a guy!"
Tilting its head to one side, the little croagunk watched him for a moment before leaping up and hugging him tightly. <Daddy!!> the small thing exclaimed, unintentionally using absorb on Duke as it squeezed him.
As the trainer fell over, twitching slightly, both Strings and the Slugma stood over him, looking at each other uncertainly, before down again at the trainer and pokemon.
<Come here...> Slugma said, inching closer to get the croagunk off. The heat of the slugma though, caused the little baby pokemon to cry out in pain, fearfully leaping away from the slugma, and hiding on the other side of duke.
"Well...this doesn't look like you're going to have much luck guiding it home." Duke said with a wince, as he slowly sat up once more.
<Croagunk dislike heat...why we tried...to take it home...> was the reply, slowly backing off though the look on his face clearly one of distress. What was he going to do? After a moment the slugma looked up, determined.
<Take us...with you...> the slugma ventured, head bowing slightly <...take it home...together...>
With a hesitant nod, Duke retrieved two pokeballs, tapping one against each of them. Both pokemon went into the balls without resistance, Slugma's immediately dinging with the catch, while croagunks thrashed twice before calming down.
With both pokemon caught, Duke smiled, placing both pokemon to his belt, and weakly climbing to his feet. "Welcome to the team, Flame and...er...Son." Returning Strings to his ball, Duke resumed his journey. He was getting low on pokeballs, so it was time to stay to the path and try to get home as soon as possible.
As he walked the croagunk burst from its ball, and reluctantly Duke carried the newborn in his arms. It was kind of weird but hey, for the time being he was apparently the things step-dad.

>Aaah! H-help me!< A high pitched voice squeaked from the bushes, which rustled violently, almost as if there was something fighting within the leaves and thorns. The struggle was interposed with occasional threatening hisses. The rustling stopped as a tiny male Caterpie slithered out of the bushes as fast as he could, which was not very fast. His body was covered in bruises and scratches, and a few light flesh wounds lightly bled on his upper body. No more than two seconds after the weak, gasping Caterpie escaped, an Ekans slithered out much more rapidly, her body covered in thick white string from the Caterpie's String Shot. She coiled around the little worm, lifting his frail form off the ground as she attempted to crush him. He squealed in pain and terror as she let out a hissing, sadistic laugh. ::caterpie:: ::ekans:: Interfere? [/I]

The sudden appearance of the ekans and Caterpie was quite unexpected. Who knew that he'd encounter more pokemon so soon after that traumatic event? Shrugging slightly Duke withdrew Strings pokeball, smiling slightly. "Strings, its time to show you just how much stronger you've become!" Tossing the ball upwards, he watched his new metapod emerge from the ball, its eyes narrowed as it glared at the ekans. In the past he would have been terrified of an ekans, much like this little ekans was, but he had a suit of armor now! Nothing could stop him. <You won't get away with his!> Strings shouted, hardening his body before hopping forwards for a tackle attack. ::metapod:: Strings used Harden! Strings used Tackle on Ekans!

◊ Hit by Tackle ◊ Uses Wrap - The Ekans hadn't paid any attention to the trainer that was passing by, and not even the flash of the Pokeball truly bothered her. The Caterpie was gasping out for someone to save him, but she let out a sly smirk, knowing that it was futile. Already her Wrap attack was crushing the Caterpie, practically suffocating her prey. Some hard 'bump her head made her think twice, making the terrifying snake release her prey as her tail curled up over the wound, trying to ease the pain out of her.
- She would've loved to give those annoyances a piece of her mind, but the Caterpie wouldn't stop yabbering like a voluble child, letting loose all of his pains through whimpers and whines as he crawled behind the trainer for protection. She scowled as she lost her prey, and due to what? She hissed as her eyes locked onto the green, armored knight that opposed her.
- The glare she cast was like a codial snicker from the devil himself, not something anyone would ever dare to trust. She lunged her body at the Metapod like she was playing a game of horseshoe, trying to tighten her rope like body around the Metapod with a Wrap attack.

[green]<Haha! That's right villain, you're no match for me!>[/green] Strings declared triumphantly, watching the little caterpie escape, and hide behind Duke, which all things considered, was a pretty safe place to be. The evil serpent was already shifting its attention to himself, though that didn't bother Strings in the slightest. After all he was a metapod now! Who on earth would dare mess with him? An answer came sooner then expected as the snake pokemon surged forwards, seeking to wrap him up like it had the caterpie. Had he not evolved Strings certainly would have dodged, which considering all the string shots already entangling the ekans probably would have been a resounding success. Yet the little pokemon had developed a bit of an ego now. He would show this ekans he wasn't afraid of it any more! Despite his nerves a sliver of fear crept through the cocoon pokemon as the muscle bound coils of the viper slid around his thick, hardened body. Focusing his might, he further hardened himself, eyes narrowing in concentration. Off to the side Duke sighed as he watched Strings intentionally get wrapped up. If he'd known his pokemon was going to abandon all strategy he probably would have kept a shorter leash on him. Strings had done so well against that tauros...yet now that it had evolved it probably was going to get beaten by a mere ekans. "Strings, before it gets too tight a grip on you jump up and use Tackle!" Duke called out, his son squirming awkwardly in his arms as he squeezed it a bit too tight. Smiling apologetically to the little pokemon, Duke put it down beside the cowering caterpie, before turning his attention back to the battle, noticing that Strings had entirely ignored his command and just sat there... hardening. [beige]<Croa~ Croa~>[/beige] croaked Son, staring eerily at the injured caterpie, the look on its face seeming more than a little malicious, even if it wasn't trying anything yet. ::metapod:: Strings used Harden! "Strings i'm still you're trainer, remember why you came with us and just trust me!" Duke called, getting a little frustrated with his newly evolved pokemon. They had just gone through such a dangerous position, and he was not about to risk losing his pokemon again, all because it was being a hard head. Glancing over at Duke, Strings slowly nodded. The Ekans was surprised when the Metapod he believed was safely in his grasp escaped and hit her with a rather hard tackle. Hissing in pain, the snake decided that it would be best to react immediately with a counter and hope that the bug before her wouldn't suspect it.

As the vile ekans prepared to attack, Strings braced himself. He wasn't the most agile of pokemon, especially when he was being bound up, but it didn't really matter. Endurance was what was going to win him this match, that was for certain. The ekans wrap attack was still leaving him rather aching, though the more he hardened himself the less and less it seemed to effect him. Seeing the purple glow in the ekans mouth, Strings wasted no time. bunching up the green armoured warrior leapt towards the ekans in yet another tackle attack. As the needles struck him again and again, his eyes drifted shut. Each needle sent a sharp pain into his body after all, though their damage, like the wrap attack, for the moment seemed rather superficial. Just hit the target...just hit the target... ◊ Hit by Tackle ◊ Uses Wrap - The Ekan's eyes widened in realization that the armored menace was charging right through her Poison Sting. What a defense! What determination! Not something that should be admired at this place in time, because she was going to be on the painful end of that Tackle. She thought she could be smart and up the power on her Poison Sting, but the Metapod had already Tackled her by then.
- It was a good blow against her chest, making the snake rear up in pain as the blow left her a mark that she wouldn't soon forget. Her tail lashed out at the Metapod, trying to drag the bug type into another Wrap attack.
- <Escape me? I think not!> She boldly declared as she made her move, still feeling like she was able to take on the Metapod. If she could, she would even eat him as well. That shell of his wouldn't be a problem for her digestion system, since she wasn't a being that had to chew her food.

Seeing that the ekans was going to use wrap again, Duke was concerned Strings would once again take damage for no apparent reason. "Son, Fake Out!" the trainer cried out, hoping the croagunk's attack would shame Strings into listening. As he turned though to check on his baby pokemon, he noticed it looked like it was about to rush over and attack the ekans, but its eyes were glancing over at the caterpie still. "No! Don't --" his words were cut short though as the croagunk swung abruptly swung around, and its fist rushed forward, headed straight for one of the caterpie's large eyes. "--attack him..." Duke finished with a sigh, instinctively wanting to comfort the injured pokemon, but suddenly worried about whether or not it would attack him if he got too close. Meanwhile Strings, upon seeing the caterpie be attacked, began to head in that direction, furious at the weird croagunk. Sure it was a part of the team, but it had no right to attack such a defenseless and injured Pokémon! [green]<All you poison types are the same!>[/green] he snapped, before hearing the sound of the ekans behind him, turning to notice he had unintentionally avoided its slowed down wrap attack. Glancing to and fro, Duke tried to determine what to do. Stopping his rowdy Pokémon could be quite time consuming, and he doubted Son was a murderer. Much as she loathed the Metapod, she couldn't help but respect his perseverance and determination. Although admittedly, it was quite frustrating that he kept this up. <Jussst give up and die, already!> she hissed menacingly, still coiled tightly around her opponent, fangs gleaming as her eyes flashed hungrily. <I'll enjoy every bite after I rip off your sssshell!> She really wasn't too fond of that Metapod, if she wasn't making it obvious enough already.
The Tackle hadn't hurt too much, but keeping herself coiled around the hardening shell of the stupid bug sure wasn't very pleasant. Hissing in her annoyance, the snake reared back her head and opened her jaws, spitting a barrage of poisonous needles toward her foe. <Take that!> she snarled, obviously confident in herself.

Caterpie gave a horrified shriek and desperately tried to get up the courage to dodge the attack, but it was no use.
