Barry decided it was time to get his Pokémon some training, especially after receiving his starter packet today. He was excited to see this Gligar flying right beside him and went over to pat it on the head. It was smiling as it flew right beside him, oblivious to it's surroundings. This turned out to cost the Gligar dearly as it hit a tree and then began to rub it's bruise. It was a little disappointed that it was so clumsy but it just continued flying next to him, this time becoming more aware of it's surroundings. They stopped and Sam took out some of his dinner that he had saved from yesterday, he offered to give some to the Gligar but the Gligar refused and went about looking for it's own food. Suddenly Sam heard a screeching sound and went to check it out. He saw his Gligar but also saw...It was going off finding it's own food when it suddenly ran into something. What did it run into?

A motherly taillow was flying by when it bumped into Gligar! It was such a surprise, seeing trained pokemon out on their own! She cocked her head in suspense, before smiling and engaging it in conversation <"Hello, dear, how are you? It's so rare to see pokemon like yourself around this parts! Call me Momma Taillow."> Momma Taillow was a sweet thing, she wasn't very experienced in battle but she knew how to raise kids. She babysat her neighbors kids but could never get any of her own. Mood: Happy Momma Taillow is chattering with Gligar!

(SMACK!) The Gligar screeched the minute it bumped into another Pokémon. It was frustrated that it kept bumping into Pokémon today... Boy was it careless. But when it noticed the Momma Taillow it stopped and had a conversation with her. <"I'm sorry that I bumped into you today.> It said to the motherly bird. It was sad that it was so clumsy today... Suddenly Sam showed up near the two flying creatures when he heard the screech. <I heard a screech! What happened. Gligar are you okay?> Sam said to his Pokémon before he noticed the Taillow. The Gligar went over to hug his trainer, gesturing that he is perfectly fine and that he was just clumsy again and ran into the Taillow. Sam noticed the Taillow and saw this as an opportunity for his Gligar to get some training. He went over slowly to the motherly figure and asked if she would allow him to battle her as he just got his Gligar today and it can definitely use the training. Gligar himself asked the Taillow where he could find some delicious food, because he was hungry. Seeing this motherly bird, he knew that she would be able to spot good food for this Pokémon. He could really use some berries right about now... Nature: CarelessApologizing to the Taillow, then asking the Motherly bird if she knows where the food is.Nature: ExcitedAsking the motherly Taillow if it would allow him and his Gligar to battle it for experience.

The taillow was surprised, someone was asking her to train? She wasn't much of a fighter, but she complied. He would be certainly helpful.
<"Why, of course! I'm not much of a fighter, but I can hold my own. I'll let you make the first move though, as you were so kind to ask me. The nerve of some trainers these days, attacking you unprovoked!"> The taillow chuckled, she flew backwards a bit before hovering mid air. She held her ground, allowing Gligar the first move.
::Taillow:: Mood: Excited Taillow allows you to make the first move!

Sam was pleased that this Taillow would let his Pokémon use the first move, and he was not going to disappoint either. He told his Gligar to quickly throw sand at the direction of the Taillow and throw it off it's course so it will not expect an attack. While it is trying to remove the sand off it's eyes it is time to surprise the Taillow with an attack he probably never knew or expected you to have... Metal Claw.
The Gligar started off by throwing sand at the direction of the Taillow and then with it's claw shining bright white, swing it at the Taillow and give it a good knock on it's stomach. This should cause the Taillow a lot of pain, but still allow it to battle. Start off with a sand attack to distract the Taillow, then whiten up your claws and go for a metal claw attack

Taillow was anticipating his movements, so she dodged the sand being thrown at her. The claw move, however, grazed her torso. It hurt, and she felt a bit of pain. However, it wasn't anything major. She giggled, wondering if he's even trying.
<"Don't hold back dear, I'm basically housewife. Mothers are strong, too."> She Growled at him, then proceeded to unleash a Peck attack on him. She wouldn't beat him down hard, but she wouldn't hold back either.
::Taillow:: Mood: Happy Momma Taillow uses Peck and Growl! Dodged Sand-Attack but is hit by Metal Claw!

The Gligar heard the voice of a mother growl and it scared him a bit... His attack did decrease, then out of the blue he was hit by a constant pecking by this mother bird. It irritated him more than anything else... The Gligar was not in a happy mood anymore.
He suddenly turned around while she was still pecking him and shot a ton of stings at him. These happened to be purple and happened to be poisonous. She was too close in range to dodge the attack, although it is not a certainty if it hit or not... But more likely than not, it did hit...
::Gligar:: Was hit by the growl, then the peck! Hit back with an array of poison stings

OOC: Please try not to make Pokemon and items appear, or hint at things like that. It's up to the moderator. If you want him to crash into a tree or a rock though, that is up to you. XD Maybe also include exactly what your trainer is saying in "" marks instead of summarizing? I Say High, You Say Taillow { Taillow } Hit by Poison Sting Uses Focus Energy Waiting for Gligar to make a move
After getting some good pecks on the Gligar's chest, the Taillow couldn't help but hum a happy tune as she swerved about in the air, trying to make herself a difficult target. She expected the Gligar to actually go up into the air and chase after her, but that was not the case when it took aim at her with a long distance attack.
Out of the corner of her eyes, the first poisonous stinger flew up into the air, startling her with a jolt. Then more came, and some even got stuck on her back as she flew around, trying to dodge the barrage. At least it calmed down after a bit, but that had been a close call. She could feel the poison sinking into her body, causing most of the pain, but nothing like a permanent poison condition.
<Time to get serious.> She chuckled, flying in circles above the Gligar as her energy became focused into her wings and beak. If she could hit the Gligar's weakest spots, then that would be the key to her winning the battle. The only problem was whether the Gligar decided to chase her up there, or use another Poison Sting.

[OOC:] Sorry about that. It was kind of hinting at a Pokémon but I also left it open so it could have crashed into a tree or a wall also. It was up to the moderator's discretion to say what exactly it crashed into... And I'll include the trainer dialogue in the future. Thanks for the advice. [IC:] Sam saw the Taillow flying in circles and concentrating all of her power into her wings and beaks. Gesturing to his Gligar he said: <"Shoot another array of poison stings at her but be aware of her next attack! She has increased her power by a lot after channeling her energy. Don't get too close or you will be hit very badly, attack her from a distance and be mindful of your surroundings." >The Gligar obliged and began to shoot a lot of poison stings at the Taillow from a distance, it was not going to let her beat him up close and thus decided to attack from a distance, hoping the Taillow would chase it and give it the advantage. Sam looked on hoping his strategy would work. <"This mother Taillow is a lot more trouble than I would have expected..."> Sam said while watching this battle. <"This is definitely good training for my Gligar but I am a little scared of what will happen from this battle...>" He waited to see the outcome of this battle. Stayed at a distance and shot many poison stings at the Taillow. Was warned to be wary of the Taillow as she got stronger after channeling her energy.

The poison stings flew as a barrage of arrows towards the motherly Taillow and as they flew she dodged many needles as she flew around. However she did get hit towards the end. This reminded her so much about her past when she was younger. She used to be trained by other Taillows just as how this Gligar was getting trained by her as it seemed. However under one of her training sessions she got so badly injured that she lost her ability to have children, which is why she keeps babysitting her neighbors children a lot. Shaking off the poison she went in for another Peck attack. However as the fight was going on she could see that it could and would end soon as she did not want to hurt him too badly. ::Taillow:: Hit by Poison Sting Used Peck

As the Taillow was flying towards the Gligar, Sam thought quickly and finally utilized what was his plan all along to work. He kept a distance from the Taillow so it would be forced to go after his Gligar, and not the other way around. When it flew at him he quickly told the Gligar to dodge her peck attacks and go in for a metal claw. Sam quickly yelled towards his pokemon: <"Quick Gligar, dodge the Taillow's beak while it is flying at you and then strike her down with your metal claw attack while she is so close to you!>"Gligar claws began to glow and also began to harden and then he went for a slash on the Taillow while it was close to him. Sam was waiting for the outcome of this move as he could not see if it hit or not, and he could not see what Taillow's next move would have been had it hit or not hit... Dodged Taillow's beak while it was coming after him trying to peck him. [First dodge of battle]Used Metal Claw on the Taillow while it was within distance

I Say High, You Say Taillow { Taillow } Hit by Metal Claw Uses Growl + Peck
Feeling nothing but air when she expected a sharp collision with the Gligar's body, her head made a quick turn to see him slam his glowing claw into her body. With a pained cry she was knocked lower in the air, falling and falling while her body was too busy trying to react to the new damage dealt to her. Eyes carefully opened to see the ground approaching, and with a yelp she opened up her wings despite the pain, instantly saving her from a nasty fall.
<Close...call.> She panted, knowing that she wouldn't be able to take many more of those attacks. She was lucky that she had some experience in battles, and saw it appropriate enough to let out a loud Growl at the Gligar as she worked her way up into the skies.
She really had one really good attack, and Peck was the way to go. Eyes straining to take some good aim at the speedy Gligar, her beak began to faintly glow with the flying element's power. She tried to make one big peck at the Gligar's back, seeing that it was the best target.

Gligar was hit by the peck attack right in the back and he began to fall down to the point of hitting the ground. The Gligar could definitely fly away before hitting the ground, but it was hoping that the motherly nature of the Taillow will kick in when she saw the Pokémon falling fast into the ground. He hoped this would cause the Taillow to swoop down and save the Pokémon before he plundered into the ground. If this strategy did not work, he could open his wings and stop his momentum before crashing to the ground. But he expected this attack to work since this Taillow was such a motherly figure and the idea of seeing a Pokémon fall to their inevitable doom should be too much for the Taillow. If the Taillow does chase him in an attempt to save him, he would attack her when she is close with a Metal Claw and end this battle once and for all. Sam looked on and was scared that his Gligar was out of the battle. <"Gligar, open your wings! Don't fall to the ground! Please Gligar you have this match, don't give up so soon!!"> Sam began to scream at his Gligar scared of what would happen. Then he noticed Gligar give him a smile so he knew what was really happening. Still he decided to increase the opportunity of Taillow's motherly instincts kicking in and he also made Taillow think the Gligar was out and going to fall to his eventual doom. <"Please Gligar open your wings! Don't fall to the ground like this. Not yet at least!! Please Gligar!!>" Sam began to shout at his Pokémon hoping it would strengthen the motherly instincts of the bird. Sam started thinking to himself... <"I feel bad for myself doing this, taking advantage of her motherly instincts but I see this as the only way of winning this battle...>"Falling to his "eventual doom" as a decoy to make Taillow's motherly instincts kick in so she'd save him. Then strike down with a metal claw

I Say High, You Say Taillow { Taillow } (Critical Hit +1) Hit by Metal Claw Weakening. Capture/Battle? Uses Peck
After making a successful Peck at the Gligar's back, she couldn't help but feel proud of herself when she pushed the poison type down. It meant that she was the stronger one, the authoritative figure in this match. She raised her beak proudly as she twirled around in the skies, only listening in apprehension as she waited for her opponent to return to battle. Yet he didn't.
She stopped out of curiosity, looking down in surprise to see some kind of commotion going on down below. The trainer was freaking out because his Gligar was about to crash into the ground? What? She must've gotten a really good hit on him if she knocked him out already.
Seeing her opponent go lower and lower, why, it was like the feeling she had when she realized that she could no longer have children. Eyes watering, she felt her heart break when she saw that she might've went a bit too far in challenging these young ones. She should've...she should've known...
She dived down as fast as she could, chasing after the falling Gligar. It was so kind, polite, and adorable. Much like a child. One she would never have. She cawed in distress as she approached his body, her beak nibbling at his wing in an attempt to get them to open, when all of a sudden his claws began glowing. Before she could register what was happening, she was struck hard on the back, sent crashing into the ground. She let out a weak moan as her beak met the earth, not quite understanding what was going on.
She was lucky that he wasn't that strong, but the earth...and gravity...that was strong. She remained stubborn, refusing to go down as she glared up at the Gligar, feeling a new kind of feeling rise up in her throat. Did she want...revenge? <That was NOT the kind of trick to play in a friendly battle!> She raged, chasing after the Gligar in the skies, eager to Peck his eyes out.

The Gligar caught himself before he fell to the ground and began to laugh after successfully tricking the Taillow. <"Sorry that was a dirty trick but I was desperate and needed something to work.>" Gligar said to the Taillow who did not look happy right now. Sam also felt sorry for tricking the Taillow and he too aplogized. <"I'm so sorry mother Taillow, you see this is our first ever battle and we were desperate. We really wanted this win and we felt this was a surefire way. I hope you can eventually forgive us>"When they saw the Taillow flying towards them, trying to poke his eyes out Sam quickly told his Taillow to use poison sting on the Taillow and wait for it's attack to defend against it or dodge it. <"Incoming Gligar, this Taillow does not look happy. Be careful and shoot some poison sting at it. It is coming right after you so be careful of it's movement. Do not let her take you out!>"Sam said to his Gligar... ::Gligar:: Shot poison stings at the Taillow that is coming after him. Momma taillow dodged the incoming attack on her, but she was aware she was beat. She landed on the gruond next to Sam, raising up a wing in surrender. She had enough.
<"Thanks, I'm glad I could help you. I know when I'm beaten. Now, if you'll excuse me...I have to babysit the zigzagoon twins. They're such a handful! Good luck on your adventure and goodbye!"> She really wanted to help some more, but she didn't need to faint when she had other duties to attend to! She began to fly off into the distance, not really taking a second thought. If she stayed, she might get injured further just like in the past. She already was infertile, being any more dysfunctional would be too much to bear.
::Taillow:: Mood: A bit sad but still okay Taillow is leaving! Interfere?

Sam allowed the Taillow to go and thanked her for the battle. He shouted <"Thanks again Momma Taillow for a great battle. My Gligar really got good experience from it.">
The Gligar also seemed to agree as he nodded in approval to the Taillow as it was flying away. Then Sam went up to his Gligar and gave him a hug. <"You were great today Gligar! Hope you aren't too hurt as we still have more pokemon to meet and more trainers to battle..."> Sam said to his Gligar before they ventured off into the woods for more trainers and more pokemon.
His Gligar was tired but he was not injured by any means. They definitely had enough to continue on... And he enjoyed the level boost.
::Gligar:: Mood: Happy. Excited for level boost. Looking for more challenges

A Ledyba zoomed through the skies, eyes bright with joy as he navigated the air, leaving Spearow, Pidgey, Starly and Taillow scattering as he zoomed by with the faintest of giggles. Childish innocence was the foundation of this little ladybug's personality, and it was obvious as he performed acrobatic stunts in the air simply for the sake of performing them. The fresh air and the smell of the cold clear river was motivation enough for him. Oh? What was this? A Trainer! And a potential friend to boot! Buzzing happily as he descended to earth, he landed on the Trainer's shoulder, standing on all six legs with a childish grin. >Hi mister! Wanna play?< ::ledyba::

Sam was shocked to see a ladybug on his shoulder but he thought the creature looked friendly enough that he attempted to pet it. But all of a sudden his Gligar began to run near it and then he tagged the ladybug saying <"Tag your it!"> before running off trying to have the ladybug catch him. Sam looked on in amazement while he saw his pokemon get along very well with this other pokemon and he just watched, smiling.
He kind of wanted this pokemon so he quickly asked it, not knowing if it understood him or not: <"Hey Ledyba would you like to join my team? We can give you a battle and then if we win you can join us. We'd love to have someone as friendly and powerful as you.">

Venturing to Route 1... sharpening some claws
The Ledyba was so pleased when the Trainer was friendly towards him that he forgot to chase the Gligar. He even offered him a place on his team! That was amazing! He had never been able to get an invitation from a human like this before. At least, not since he was thrown away a few weeks ago. His previous Trainer wanted a strong Pokemon and the Ledyba was too weak in his eyes. Never daunted, never scared, the Ledyba took to the skies, keeping his optimism as his strongest trait. He was simply cheerful but now he was almost on the verge of tears; this Trainer...seemed like an awesome person! ::ledyba:: <"Wow, really?! You'd take a Pokemon like me?"> he asked. Stars lit up in his eyes as he held his top two hands together. All he had to do was fight! It was probably with the Gligar since he was already out in the open. The Ledyba flew a few feet away from the Trainer and faced him. <"Okay! I'll do it. I'll play with you and if you win, I'll come with you!"> said the Ledyba. Boy, was he excited!
::ledyba::
Mood: Excited - Ledyba accepts your challenge!
- Ledyba wants to let you go first.
