Ember was too close to the Skorupi to dodge it's attack this time. She squealed as the needles embedded themselves in her skin and she staggered backwards, trembling slightly. She'd managed to avoid getting Poisoned this time, but she felt a throb where the Poison Sting attack had hit. Next time she wouldn't be as lucky.
"That's alright, Ember! Use Smokescreen!" Tess called, wincing as her Pokemon was hit. She wondered how much of this her Pokemon could take and how much the Skorupi could have left as well.
Ember shook her head to clear it, then she opened her mouth and breathed a plume of black smoke toward the Skorupi, trying to make it harder for the Pokemon to land a hit on her. Maybe this way she could keep from getting hit with another Poison Sting attack.

Skorupi couldn't take it anymore, he just couldn't win. If you can't beat em, join em and the smokescreen was becoming thicker and he wouldn't be able to attack. Angry, Skorupi ran towards Ember but, instead ran into a tree and knocked himself out, his eyes swirling around as he fainted...weird.

[OOC: Lol that's all good. In retrospect it might not have been smart to name her Ember. . . But I couldn't think of anything else. ^^']
Ember and her trainer watched the Skorupi appear from the smoke and slam into a tree, and both managed to keep from laughing. Ember was poised to continue the battle, but it didn't look like the little scorpion Pokemon was going to be getting up any time soon.
Sighing with relief, Ember collapsed on the ground. She was panting and had had a few tough battles. Tess walked over to her little Cyndaquil and picked her up, hugging her to her chest. "You were great, Ember!" she said.
Tess smiled at the little Skorupi, then turned and continued through the forest. They had to find that path, otherwise they were never going to get to the next town: the vegitation was a bit thick for them to walk through.
"Geez. . . ," Tess huffed. "Stupid Beedrill chasing us into the forest. . . Where is that dumb path? God. . . This sucks." She pushed a branch out of her way and ducked under it. The best thing she could get out of this, she decided, was some more training time.
Her hand rested momentarily on the Pokeball that contained Charred, her Charaptor, and thought about bringing him out to clear away some of these annoying brambles, but decided against it. The vicious dinosaur-like Pokemon could be a little tough to handle. It would be better if she just waited until she got a badge to use him. Unless, of course, there was an emergency.

The sky was starting to become cloudy, and some Pokémon ran off from sun bathing while others trotted out to enjoy the shade away from the sun. A now awaken Slakoth climbed down from a near by tree and so happened to see the trainer. Since there hadn't been any good action lately and the day was pretty calm, he decided to ask for a battle. [battle?] Slakoth asked as he walked up to the trainer trying to find a bath through this thick forest. ::male:: wants to Battle!

Tess blinked down at the little sloth Pokemon, then held Ember up at eye level. "What do you think? Want to battle? You need some training, since you'll be my only fire Pokemon until I can catch a new one or get that badge."
Ember looked down at the Slakoth. It looked slow and not all that strong, so she figured what the hey? She nodded to her trainer and Tess set her down. "Alright, that's the spirit!"
The Cyndaquil turned to the Slakoth and nodded. {Ok. We'll battle you!} she told him, standing up on her small back legs and tilting her head to one side. {We're not going to be easy to beat! I've been training hard for a while now!}
"A while" really meant the past hour or so, but hey, the Slakoth didn't know that, right? Tess smiled to herself, then took a step back to give her Pokemon some room to work. "Right, then! Use Covet, Ember!"
Ember put on her cutest face, then inched toward the Slakoth, smiling at it. She tilted her head to the other side and made a small purring sound, trying to look innocent.
When she got close enough to the sloth Pokemon, Ember snarled and lunged at her opponent, lifting her paw to strike it and maybe steal an item it might have been holding.

The Slakoth nodded back, since his wanting to battle was accepted, he went down to the ground, ready to battle. The Cyndaquil used covet, an attack that would steal an item and, it just so happen that the Slakoth was holding an Oran Berry.
You received an Oran Berry!
The Slakoth looked down in his paws and noticed that the berry was gone but, decided to use an attack instead of dwelling about it. Stretching his arms, Slakoth used the move Yawn, which would hopefully make Ember yawn as well and then fall asleep.
Slakoth used Yawn!

Ember looked down at the Oran Berry that was in her hand and giggled gleefully. That would come in handy when he was feeling tired and out of energy! She looked up at the Slakoth, still smiling. . .
Just in time to see him Yawn. Her mouth stretched open in a yawn of her own and she shook her head, trying to clear it of the drowsiness she was feeling. Her eyelids drooped slightly, but she shook her head again and made it receed for a few seconds.
"Ember! You can get a little more in there! Use Smokescreen!" Tess commanded. Normally people might have used a damaging attack, but Tess had a different strategy in mind.
Ember blinked the sleep from her eyes a few times, then opened her mouth and let a great plume of smoke escape her maw. It swirled in the air and swept across the ground toward the Slakoth, threatening to dampen his accuracy.
Then, with another great yawn, Ember slumped to the ground and started to sleep.

Slakoth watched the thick smoke fill the air and then Ember fall to the ground. He showed no emotion but, was rather happy with his achievement of making the Pokemon fall asleep. Walking into the smoke, he decided to use a scratch in hopes of hitting the Cyndaquil with his claws.
Slakoth used Scratch!

Thanks to the thick smoke, the little Slakoth missed his Scratch attack and only managed in slashing through more smoke. However, he was more likely to find the Cyndaquil in his next attack. . . Tess knew she had to wake up her Pokemon somehow.
"Ember! Ember c'mon, wake up! Use Tackle or Leer or whatever! Just get up and fight!" Tess called to her sleeping Pokemon, hoping that her voice would be enough to wake her Cyndaquil from her slumber.
However, Ember was deep asleep. He shuffled her feet in her sleep as she chased some dream creature, and it looked as if she wouldn't wake for a few turns. "Ember!" Tess tried again.

Slakoth took a step back to scan the area, upset that he missed that last move but, wanting to continue trying to attack the Cyndaquil before he could awaken. Lumbering through the smoke, Slakoth used another Scratch, hopefully hitting this time.

"Ember! Wake up! Now is not the time to be napping!" Tess yelled. She couldn't see much with the Smokescreen, but she could see her Pokemon's sillouhette, as the little Cyndaquil was pretty close to her.
This time the Slakoth got lucky. His Scratch attack slammed right into Tess' Cyndaquil and she tumbled to the side, not really being the state of mind to do much about it. Contessa winced for her Pokemon, though.
"C'mon! Please wake up! Use Tackle!" Tess pleaded, putting a hand on her head. If her little Pokemon didn't wake up soon, she would probably just call the match. Stupid Slakoth. . . Why did it have to be so pathetic and sleepy? "Wake up, Ember!"
Ember shifted in her sleep. She could hear Tess calling to her, but as far as she was concerned it was just part of her dream. She shook her head and rolled over, still sleeping, and did not do a Tackle attack.

The Slakoth yawned and gazed around dully, finding the billowing smoke around him quite fastinating. Hm. The steady ebb and flow of the smoke was soothing and as the rythmetic pattern continued he found himself getting to tired and too lazy to attack.
The Slakoth let out a quiet sigh and rolled on his back gazing at the smokey shapes. This very much like cloud watching, which he did quiet often. The only difference was that the smoke burned and irriated his eyes. However, the normal type was to busy lying in the middle of a smokescreen loafing around to attack. Ember got lucky this time around.
Slakoth is loafing around!

Tess saw an opportunity in the lull and took a step forward. "Ember! I command that you wake up right this instant and end that little sloth! You can go back to sleep once you're done, but you get up and fight!"
Ember twitched in her sleep. What was her trainer yelling at her for now? Well, she'd never actually yelled at her before. . . The little Cyndaquil found that very interesting. Why would Tess being yelling at her now?
In her dream they were just sitting in the grass, and now Tess was yelling at her. But it didn't make any sense. . . "Wake up!" she was demanding. But wasn't she already awake? Ugh. Ember couldn't understand humans sometimes.
"EMBER! WAKE UP!" Tess bellowed, unable to contain her frustration and anger anymore. She covered her mouth as quickly as the words were out, looking horrified. That was totally uncalled for, and she had been brought up differently: never yell or act rude or mean.
But it got the job done.
Ember squealed and jumped to her feet, looking around frantically. What was that? Where was she? Oh! A battle! She turned to her trainer and gave her a sheepish look. How could she have taken a nap at such an odd time?
Tess sighed. Finally, some results. "Yes! Welcome back. Now, find that sloth and Tackle him!" she called in a sing-song voice, smiling widely. The battle could now actually start!
The little Cyndaquil gave her head a little shake, then charged through the Smokescreen until she saw the shape of the Slakoth, then she lunged for him. Because she was the one who used Smokescreen, the attack didn't have quite the extreme effects on her.

The Slakoth, now not paying much attention since he thought he had the battle in the midst of his claws so to speak, was relaxing and loafing around, didn't expect a tackle and thus, was hit, effectively. Rolling back some through the smokescreen, Slakoth was a little confused, thinking the Cyndaquil had to be asleep but, was now awake. Nonetheless, he walked right up to him as quick as he could in his state and used Scratch.
Slakoth used scratch!

"Tackle it again!" Tess had called before the Slakoth recovered from the successful first Tackle attack. She was so excited that her lovely Cyndaquil had awoken from the Sleep he had been put under by that annoying Yawn attack.
However, as Ember bounded toward the Slakoth, she was not ready for the Scratch attack. She squealed as she tried to come to a halt, but the Pokémon slid across the ground and right into the Slakoth's claws.
She screeched as the pain slashed three gouges into her skin and she flopped to the ground, feeling a little out of it. Being put to sleep like that had not been good for her health and she felt out of it.
"Ember! The Berry!" Tess cried, bouncing up and down. Oh, how she now loved that darling little Covet attack her Pokémon knew! So useful it seemed to be!
Ember looked down at her paw and saw it; a little Oran Berry. She had forgotten while she was asleep that she had stolen it from the Slakoth early in the fight. She smiled and quickly devoured it, feeling strength seep back into her limbs. The three gouges from the Scratch attack disappeared magically.
"Yes! Now Tackle it again!" Tess cried. Oh, this battle sure was getting exciting! How she could not wait to get to that Baby Contest and start showing off her pretties!
Again, Ember looked over to the Slakoth and narrowed her eyes. She had new energy coursing through her and she was eager to get this battle over. She ran at the sloth Pokemon, then pounced on it in a Tackle attack.

The slakoth, not the brightest star in the sky, had begun to loaf around again when suddenly Ember raced towards him and collided, sending the air out of his lungs. The sloth moaned in agony, but a few seconds later it was all forgotten. He decided he was tired, and began to relax again.
Slakoth is loafing around.

Tess smiled. This was going to be an easy battle if the Slakoth took a turn to just sit and stare off at nothing! She giggled quietly to herself, then called out another command. "Another Tackle attack, beloved!"
Ember glanced over her shoulder at her trainer. Really? She just called her "beloved?" Shrugging, she just decided it was a lame little thing she did when she happy. Oh well. She could live with that. Right then she had to focus on the battle at hand. It was nice to know she was loved, though. . .
The Cyndaquil took in a sharp breath then launched herself at the Sloth Pokemon again. With it distracted and just loafing around, she expected to land another hit. Maybe she could end this little battle once and for all.

As the Slakoth was loafing around, enjoying himself as he relaxed, a tackle attack was called out and he was hit head on and effectively by the Cyndaquil. From the tackle, Slakoth was throw back some but, stood, trying to shake it off and attack back. Only he simply stumbled around more and thus, fell over, fainted.
You defeated Slakoth! Cyndaquil gains one level! You may capture the Slakoth or continue.
