Tess hopped up once in excitement and ran over her tired-looking Cyndaquil and scooped her up in her arms and hugged her tight. "Oh, that was wonderful, Ember! You were so great!" she squealed happily.
Ember giggled and nuzzled her trainer, then slumped in her arms and started to breathe heavily. She was so tired from facing those Beedrill and then that Slakoth.
The trainer gave her Pokemon a sympathetic look, then returned her to her Pokeball. "Alright, you take a break. I'll see how I can manage Charred if another Pokemon attacks. I'm sure he'll never grow to respect me if I don't even try to fight with him."
With that, Tess tucked the Ball in her bag and started on. She hoped to maybe find an electric Pokemon if she couldn't find another Fire Pokemon. She had three, but she would always love to have more. And an Electric Pokemon would do well again the annoying Water Pokemon, but if she had to she'd get a Grass Pokemon.

A Shinx appeared!
A small Shinx had been sniffing around, sensed that the Pokemon were coming. And a weird-smelling thing she didn't know... <Hello!> She said, bounding over to Tess. She looked pretty, and nice too. But her mother had said humans were dangerous and should never be talked too. She backed away slowly. That's what her mother had told her to do when you met a human. Just to slowly back away. <Bye...bye...> she stuttered. Suddenly, she couldn't take it anymore and started running away. You can still stop her if you'd like. [[>.< Crap post.]]

Tess blinked at the little Shinx, then smiled. However, before she could speak to the Pokemon, the little Electric Type started to run off. Her mouth dropped slightly, then she started to panic. She needed the Shinx to come back!
"Hey, wait! I don't want to hurt you!" she called after the Shinx, taking a few after the Pokemon. "Please! Can't we just talk? I won't hurt you or anything," Tess promised.

The small Shinx stopped, shivering, and turned towards Tess. <Heh... heh...> She trembled as she saw the human, and she looked at the person. She really didn't look bad. But her mother had said all humans were bad. But then again, her mom tended to make things worse than they sounded. However, she still trusted her mom more than these Pokemon and the trainer in front of her.
<What... do you want... with me?> she said, trembling under Tess's shadow. It was scary, how this human was looming over her. Maybe she should take her chance and run away. No. She would be a strong Shinx. <What do you want with me?> she said, trying to catch Tess's eyes.

Tess smiled warmly down at the little Shinx, then realized that the little Pokemon didn't look too comfortable, standing there and craning her neck to look up at her. She kneeled down to get more to Shinx' height.
However, she wasn't quite sure what she wanted from the Shinx. Except to have the Electric Pokemon join her. . . God she sounded like she wanted Shinx to join a cult with her or something. . .
Well, it was worth a shot, and she didn't have any other conversation starters. That was the best thing she could say, so she let it go. "I was just thinking about how great it would be if you could join my Pokemon team. But I can see you're not comfortable around humans. . . Or is it just me?" she wondered, talking too much like she normally did.

The little Shinx trembled as the human came even closer to her. She squeezed her eyes shut and opened them in a flurry when she noticed the girl had said 'join my team'. <What? You have a team?!> She really liked Pokemon teams, and she had always wanted to join one. However, her mother had always prevented her from joining any of them.
<Hmmm... how about you show me your team. If it has at least two Pokemon in it... I join! Okay?> She smiled happily. If this trainer had some Pokemon for her to play with she would gladly join her team. It was just that she was a bit scared a few minutes ago. That was only because of her mothers' talk. Her mom was rather overreactive, and she didn't seem to really know much. The more she knew, the more she knew her mother had been telling her what was not really the truth.

Tess looked thoughtful for a second, then nodded. "Alright! That sounds fair enough. I have three Pokemon!" she said with a giggle, taking out three Pokeballs. He let out her Pokemon one at a time to as not overwhelm the little Shinx.
"Ember here was my first Pokemon," she said as the female Cyndaquil appeared in a flash of light. Ember tilted her head at the Shinx, then she smiled warmly and gave it a little mew in greeting.
Tess started to let Charred out of his Pokeball, but he wasn't sure how the Charaptor would take to the little Pokemon or his trainer, for that matter. She bit her bottom lip, then held up Torch's Pokeball instead.
"I just got him recently," she explained, tossing the ball up. A Charmander appeared, but he looked way different from the usual Charmander: he was surrounded in a dark, purple light and had a rather mischevious look on his face. "His name is Torch."
The Charmander looked to the Shinx, then chuckled evily and gave a slight bow in greeting. Then he smiled and wagged his tail, the flame at the tip rippling slightly.
"I have another one. . . But he can be a little hard to handle," she said, taking out her last Pokeball. She needed to spend some time with the Charaptor, though, and meeting new people couldn't possibly hurt the vicious dinosaur-like Pokemon. "Charred is his name."
In a flash of light, a utahraptor-looking Pokemon appeared. It was a few heads taller than his trainer, and he had the most angry look on his face, eyes narrowed and lips curled at the corners to show off a row of sharp teeth. Charred looked around suspiciously, then looked down at the little Shinx.
{Such small little craetures. . . ,} he muttered to himself, talking not only about the Shinx but about the other two Pokemon as well. He couldn't believe that he evolved from the tiny lizard in front of him. He leaned forward and gave Shinx an appraising sniff, the flames about his tail and back flickering in the light breeze.
Tess sighed. At least Charred seemed to be behaving himself. She looked to the Shinx and smiled at it. "Well, these are my Pokemon!" she said happily. "They're all really great when you get to know them."

[[Ah... it would help if there weren't so many paragraphs. Now I have to try and match it. >.<]] <Hmph.> The Shinx looked at the Charaptor meanly. <I am not SMALL.> She glared at the Pokemon, then looked back at Tess. She had lots of Pokémon. It would be fun to join her team, but. But all of her Pokémon were fire types! They were known to be rather... rash. She didn't want to join somebody who had a mean team. They just weren't going to work well together, expecially not with the Charaptor over there. He was just way too big.
<Oh well,> she thought. It couldn't be all for the best, could it? She could either take it or loose the chance forever. If her mother found out she was even interacting with a human being, she would be grounded to her home forever. Just now, she wasn't feeling so good either.
<Okay. Well, I'll try,> she told Tess. At least the group wasn't exactly mean looking, and they weren't bad either. Except for the Charaptor, who had said she looked small! <Wait until I evolve,> she said smugly to the Pokémon. <When I evolve, I'll be about as tall as you,> she told him. She wasn't going to loose to this giant hunk of a fire Pokémon. Plus, she was good as she was for now. She didn't want to become so big that quickly, did she? Nope. She sure didn't.
The Shinx padded over to each of the Pokemon, except for the Charaptor. He was someone she was going to stay away from for now. He didn't seem safe. The Pokémon all seemed pretty welcoming, and rather nice. Oh how she wished she could roam around the region and do all that she liked!
She smiled, running towards Tess. <Okay, I'm joining,> she told the human, all parts of her face in smiling features. She looked towards Tess with hope in her eyes. <Just hurry, or else my mom might come!> Her mother was a Luxray, and she sure didn't want her inturupting her joining a team and going on a journey with the human!
Shinx would like to join your team! [[/fail.]]

[OOC: >> Sorry. . . I get carried away sometimes. . .]
Charred snorted and trotted to stand behind Tess, looking around and standing on his tippy-toes, as if he was looking for some danger that might attack.
Tess smiled brightly at the Shinx. And Electric Pokemon! Oh, she felt so lucky! She started to take an empty Pokeball out of her pack, and Ember bounced happily up to the Pokemon.
{Oh! Another friend! Yay! We'll have so much fun together!} Ember cried happily, boucning in circles around the Shinx. {You, me, Torch and. . .} She looked at Charred. {Well, there's the three of us!}
Charred was a pretty imposing Pokemon. . .
"Ah!" Tess cried as she pulled out a Pokeball. She turned to the Shinx and gently tossed the Pokeball at her. "Welcome to the team! You won't regret this!"

Tess smiled and picked up the Pokeball, then returned all her other Pokemon. Four Pokemon! She was doing great! She already had three fire Pokemon and one Electric Pokemon! Oh, the grandness of it all!
"I'll call her. . . Hmm. . . Not sure. . . ," she muttered as she walked along the path to continue training. She had a lot to do if she was going to be ready for that contest! But first. . . Her Shinx needed a name!
Something that followed her current nick-name theme. . . Torch for the flame on his tail-tip, Ember for the. . . Well, she was a Fire Type, and Charred because he practically covered with fire. . . So, what to name this little Electric Pokemon? Tess thought hard, staring at the ball, and tried to think of something.
She stopped walking abuptly and called out "Sizzle! That's the sound lightning makes when it hits something!" She was pretty excited about this name, even though really it only made sense to her. . .

You came to a fork in the road. There were two paths you could choose, and in between them there was a humble wooden sign. However, the original words engraved on the front had been scribbled on so that no one could read it. It is unclear which path leads to Electric City.
There is, instead, a wrapped-up piece of paper on the ground in front of the sign.
Investigate the piece of paper or continue on?

Tess blinked, then walked over to the sign as she attempted to read it, but she soon gave up with a huff. Who would do such a thing? Probably just to get people lost on purpose. . . Darn hooligans. . .
She was about to take the left path when she saw the piece of paper. "Oh! What's this?" she asked herself. She started to pick it up, then she stood up straight and took out Sizzle's Pokeball. It was lame talking to herself, so she was going to get her some instant company.
In a flash of white light, the little Shinx appeared. Sizzle shook herself, then looked up at her new trainer with a tilted head. Tess smiled at her. "Hi! I just needed some company and I found this piece of the paper on the ground and thought one of my Pokemon would want to see what it was, too!"
Sizzle blinked at her trainer. Why was she talking to much? Oh well, it was probably just how the girl worked. She didn't mind so much. At least she wasn't a bad human like her mom had always warned they were. . .
So, now with some company, Tess knelt down and picked up the paper. It probably wasn't good to pry, but she was just so curious. . . Sizzle padded over to stand in front of her, her head tilted. What could it possibly say?

Shouted the small boy. "I challenge you to a battle!" Assuming a combat stance, the trainer threw a Pokéball on the ground. It exploded with a flash, exposing a white buglike Pokémon, with brown forearms, thin feelers and leaflike wings. It was a Nincada! ::Nincada:: [/blockquote][/ul]

Tess stood up straight and read the note aloud; "'Watch out,'" she said. She stared at it for a second, then looked at her new Shinx with a confused gaze. "Wonder what that me--?"
She and Sizzle both gave a startled shout as the small boy popped out of nowhere and let out a battle cry. Sizzle leaped behind Tess, shivering slightly, and Tess took a few steps backwards before blinking at the boy.
"Oh. . . A battle? I thought you were gonna karate-chop me or something," she giggled, not feeling the least bit annoyed at the boy. "But a battle sounds much better! I know just who to fight!" She took out a Pokeball.
Sizzle stepped forward, but Tess shook her head when the Nincada appeared. "No, not you. I'm going to use Charred for this battle!" she said. Sizzle stepped back again, looking annoyed. Why would she should that mean dinosaur over her?
Tess threw out the Pokeball and took a step back. Her raptor-like Pokemon appeared in a flash of light, looking around. He looked down at the Nincada and snorted. {Really? I have to battle this?}
"Alright, Charred, this is your first battle! Now, if you want to get tougher you should battle that Nincada!" Tess said, trying to sound as authorative as possible. Charred looked back at her, giving her a dubious look. "So go ahead and use Ember!"
He looked back to the bug-like Pokemon. {Alright. Guess I have to listen to her,} he murmured to himself. She was his trainer, and he wouldn't mind getting stronger. . . So he took a step backwards and lashed his long tail at his opponent, firing off a barrage of little fire balls.

Ooc: Wow, I didn't see this character under "route one trainers" at all but ok..
The small boy took a step back, watching the battle and wincing a bit as his Nincada was hit with the ember attack. Effectively hitting, it also left a burn, taking some of the Nincada's health.
"Come on Nincada! Use scratch attack on that Charaptor!" The small boy commanded his Pokemon, watching his bug type run after the raptor-like Pokemon with his claws.

Tess smiled. "Use Smokescreen then show it how a real Scratch is done!" she commanded. Sizzle sat down at her feet, eyes narrowed as she watched the battle. She could have taken on that Nincada just as well.
Charred opened his fang-filled mouth and let out a plume of black smoke. It rolled across the ground and covered the arena in front of him, making it almost impossible for the Nincada to see, but Charred could see him. How that was possible was only known as an act of nature. . .
The large Charaptor leaned forward, peering into the smoke, then he dashed toward the small Bug Pokemon and lashed at Nincada with its long arms, claws glinting into the twilight.

"Nincada!" The boy screamed out, watching the smoke screen cover the area where the two Pokemon fought. "Dodge then scratch again!" Nincada obeyed, quickly rolling to the right to avoid the scratch attack. Due to being a ninja's Pokemon, Nincada was quick, even low to the ground and ran towards the Charaptor with a scratch attack of his own.

Charred let out a ferocious snarl as the little bug Pokemon slashed him with its claws. He looked down at the little Nincada, his eyes flashing red with rage. How dare this puny thing hit him! The flames on his back and tail flared.
"Charred, calm down. Use Ember," Tess commanded, feeling a little nervous. This was going to be some test of her trainer abilites. Charaptor were already tough to control, and when angry she was sure things were going to get worse.
However, Charred thought that Ember was a fine idea. He leapt backwards quite a ways, then ran at the Nincada, his torso leaned close to the ground. He stopped abruptly and lashed his tail out in front of him, creating a barrage of little fire balls. {You'll pay for that, pest!} he declared.

<Hey!> The Nincada dodged by spinning around and around at a dizzying pace. Although it did get hit by a few fireballs, he managed to dodge most of them. He then spun around to face the Charaptor, snarling himself. How dare such a Pokemon insult him! They were nothing but lowly animals! Although the Charaptor was much bigger than himself, he glared at the Pokemon in a threatening way. He didn't want them to think he had anything wrong; did he?
"Nincada, use Scratch again!" The boy shouted, commanding his Pokemon toward the Charaptor yet again. He was extremely confident in himself, as he had been training. He had been training for whomever read the note. "Ha!" he shouted over to Tess. She didn't seem to have complete control over his Pokemon, whereas he was much more in control of his Nincada. After all, he hadn't trained all that time just to have a nervous and overexcited Pokemon.
The Nincada screeched at the sound of its trainer's voice, then jumped towards the Charaptor. It was listening intently to its trainer, and used a Scratch attack. He was not prepared to loose this battle. His trainer had made sure he understanded that if they lost... well, all he knew was that he wasn't going to be in for a good time. Not a good time at all, because his trainer would most likely loose his temper and start madly training him. He sure didn't want that!
