Tess looked down at the little Shroomish and smiled. "Oh, sure! Ember? Ready for another battle?" she asked, looking down at her little Cyndaquil. Her starter Pokemon needed more practice before she got to the first Contest.
Ember nodded and stepped out in front of her trainer, the flames on her back appearing with a fwoosh. She didn't know any Fire moves, but that was why she was training, right?
Giggling, Contessa looked to the Shroomish. He was a Grass Pokemon. . . She didn't normally like Grass Pokemon, she preferred Electricity to deal with Water Types, but it wouldn't hurt to have a little extra back-up. Besides, Breloom was one of the only Grass Pokemon she could really stand.
"Ok, Ember, use Covet!" Tess commanded, getting the battle started.
Ember smiled brightly at the little mushroom and inched forward, pretending to be all friendly and stuff. She giggled, then lunged at Shroomish, slashing at him with her claws. Maybe she could get an item from him, but either way if she hit she would hurt him.

The Shroomish let out a grunt, getting into his mind-set for battle. He was tough. He would beat them! Booya! With a determined grunt, he glared down the fire-type, hoping that he wouldn't have to deal with any fire-type moves. He battled a firet-ype once and although he won it was a extremely painful process.
He frowned in confusion as the Pokémon ran towards him, acting all friendly. Perhaps he wanted to talk before the battle. The Shroomish was wary, but allowed the Pokémon to come closer, his instincts, at the dight of her extended claws, quickly told him to move. It was too late though and he was flung aside and his stored Oran Berry was snatched while he was motionless.
You have obtained an Oran Berry
He huffed angriliy and hopped back on his feet before sending out small green orbs towards the Cyndaquil. Absorb.

"Ok, Ember, good! Now dodge and use Tackle!" Tess commanded. Her Covet attack had worked! Oh, that was a good thing, knowing her Pokemon could steal stuff. . . Or something.
Ember attempted to move out of the way, but she couldn't move fast enough. She felt her strength sapping away, but she shook it off. It wasn't a bad hit, especially since she was a Fire type. Oh, the power of Type advantages.
Once she over the Absorb attack, Ember ran at the Shroomish and threw herself at him, trying to ram her shoulder into him in a Tackle attack. Besides Covet, that was her only damaging move. She hoped she would learn a Fire attack soon.

The Shroomish was hit with tackle, stumbling backwards and knocking himself into a tree; thus, making him angry. He stood, shaking his headache away before running up close to use a absorb attack.
Shroomish used Absorb!

"Come on! Dodge and use Smokescreen, then follow with another Tackle attack!" Tess commanded. She clenched her teeth together, really getting into the battle.
This time Ember was able to avoid being hit by the Grass attack. She bounded away from the Absorb, then ran toward the Shroomish only to stop short and open her mouth. Out from her maw billowed a thick, black smoke, threatening to dampen accuracy, only she could see fine.
She snapped her mouth shut then lunged through the Smokescreen toward the Shroomish, her head lowered for a kind of headbutt-Tackle attack. No way was she going to lose to an inferior Grass Pokemon!

As the thick, black smoke threatened to cover the entire field, the Shroomish was helplessly caught inside of its grasps. It hurt his throat, making it dry, and difficult to speak and breathe through all of it. But it would of course, be much easier for a fire type to maneuver around in it. With a nervous glance around him, he realized that he couldn’t see a thing. This was bad. Very bad. He was soon tackled to the ground, a couple of Poisonous Spores were released into the air because of his Effect Spore ability. Meaning if the Cyndaquil decided to stay close to let out a continuous stream of attacks, there was no doubt that he would be poisoned.
And if not that, then he would be paralyzed for sure. Because he was just frustrated enough for his lack of sight to use a wide spread move, that could equally match this Smokescreen. Giving his body a rough shake, even more spores were released as he used a Stun Spore on the field, hoping to catch his opponent off guard with it.

Ember couldn't get away from the Effect Spore in time. She coughed and backed away from the Shroomish, wincing as the venom coursed through her veins. She shook her head, knowing that she would have to get through it for the sake of her trainer.
Tess was having troubles seeing what was going on in the thick smoke. She stood up onto her toes and peered into the darkness, and she thought that she could see some shadows. She hoped the Oran berry her Pokemon had swiped would help out in the battle.
"Um. . . Use Leer then Tackle it again!" Tess commanded uneasily, hoping she was making the right decision. She thought for a few seconds that she should just let her Pokemon decide what to do.
"Cynda," Ember hissed, turning her head toward the Shroomish. Her eyes began to glow an eery yellow color that cut through the thick black smoke, hopefully adding to the effect and cutting down the Shroomish's defense, then she lunged in for a Tackle attack.

The Shroomish was trapped inside of the thick, swirling smoke once again. A deep grey blocked all sight, and although he tried in vain to sight some movement all it gave him were irritated eyes and a strong smokey stench. Deciding he wanted to escape from this prison, he attempted to feel his way out of the screen.
Suddenly off to his right, two piecing Orange beams came out of the darkness, belonging to a Cyndaquil whose smokey figure could be made out now that the Shroomish knew what to look for. The mushroom Pokémon was caught in the gaze of the leer, but through some amazing agility he didn't know he had, he managed to dodge the Tackle attack.
Mentally sharp, even though physically he was exhausted, he whirled around and sent dimly glowing bubbles at the Cyndaquil, hoping to get some well deserved health back from the fire-type. It was his specialty, an Absorb attack!

Ember turned on her paws. She hissed quietly and lunged in for another Tackle attack but was interrupted mid-lunge by the Absorb attack. She let out a pained squeal as some of her energy was sapped away, but it was bareable.
The little Cyndaquil shook herself, then she glared at the insufferable little mushroom. She growled quietly to herself, then slunk into the cover of the smoke. She winced again as the Poison chipped at her health. She would only be able to last so much longer against this Pokemon. . .
She manuevered her way around behind the Shroomish, then she pounced, trying to Tackle the mushroom. Oh how she wished she knew a Fire attack. Well, she would just have to wait a little longer.

The Shroomish was surveying his surroundings warily, he was weak and he couldn't let his opponent get him again. Thinking he saw movement out of the corner of his eye he spun and around to make a exclaimation, but let out a strangled gasp as he sucked in a large amount of smoke. Kneeling over coughing, his eyes began to water, as he expelled the smoke from his lungs.
Finally, the smokescreen cleared enough for the Shroomish to catch his breath. He was quickly labled out-of-breath again as he was viciously attacked by the Cyndaquil. The hard and heated body of the pokemon, make him tumble to his side.
Wheezing the Shroomish was too tired to do a physical attack and instead let out a few more spores. Stun spore x2 was released into the air while the Cyndaquil was at close range. One came from the Effect Spore ability he had and the other was his attack. It would be nearly impossible for the CYndaquil to not get paralyzed although there were miricles.

[OOC: Is like the games where they can't have more than one stat problem? Cuz Ember is already Poisoned. I'll just go with it.]
Ember coughed as she enhaled a giant puff of the Stun Store attack. She backed up, but she shuddered slightly as she felt her limbs stiffen. It would be hard to move, but it wasn't going to be totally impossible.
Her body convulsed painfully as the Poisoning got worse. She knew that she had nothing else left, and if she didn't end the battle now, she was going to lose the fight. She wasn't going to be able to use Tackle effectively, so she decided to go on another route.
She blinked and remembered the Berry she was holding. She had just got done swiping it from the Shroomish a while ago and her trainer had yet to take it from her, so she looked down at her paws, then quickly stuffed the sustinance in her mouth.
Almost instantly she felt some of her health returning. There wasn't a whole lot, but she felt well enough to continue on. She took a deep breath, then inched toward the Shroomish, smiling. She was using Covet again, even though she knew she wasn't going to get any items. At least she could cause a bit of damage if it hit.
Once she got close enough to the Shroomish, she lunged for him and lashed out with her claws, hissing furiously. She wanted this battle to end before she was ended.
Tess bit her bottom lip and and waited patiently for something to happen. "Ember? Ember are you alright? Keep it up, girl! I'm sure you're doing fine!" she called, trying to keep her Pokemon's spirits up a little bit, even if she couldn't see.

[[ ooc:// You can only have one status condition excluding Confusion. So the poison is either replaced by Paralyze or he stays poisoned. ]]
The Shroomish inhaled yet another large amount of smoke, and sick and tired of all the second -hand smoke, he made a quick decision to get out of the smokescreen. The grass-type choose a direction-his right- and sprinted that direction as fast as possible, inhaling smoke as his breath came out in spontanious bursts.
Finally he made into the clear air, the wind blowing the smokescreen further east, the Shroomish collasped onto the ground and took in deep, cleansing breaths, his throat raw from all the smoke he had inhaled.
He was quite taken off gaurd by the Covet attack and was propelled onto his side, tired, and struggled valiently to get to his feet. He failed however, and honestly, didn't have much spirit left. He was still trying to catch his breath and had no energy to battle right now.
Shroomish is too tired to battle! Cyndaquil gains a level!

As soon as Ember was certain the Shroomish was down for the count, the Cyndaquil collapsed to the ground, panting. If she hadn't gotten that move, she knew she would have lost. She winced as the Poison worked through her again, and she closed her eyes for a much-needed rest.
Tess ran over to her Pokemon and picked her up in her arm. "Oh! Ember! You did so great! I'm sorry I didn't have any Antidotes on me, otherwise I would have fixed you. . . I'm sorry!" she said, nuzzling her Pokemon.
Of course, Ember couldn't reply. She was out cold. Tess returned her Pokemon and then took out an empty Pokeball. She wanted the Shroomish, as it would come in handy against any Water Pokemon she was going to come up again. Her Shinx had been for that reason, but Sizzle didn't know any Electric moves.
So, Tess threw the Pokeball at her opponent, biting her bottom lip in anticipation. Would the Pokemon break free? Well, she would just try again if that was the case.

Tess smiled victoriously and walked over to the Pokeball to pick it up. She rotated the Pokeball in her hand, then put it safely in her pocket for when she could use him later. "I'll call him Spore," she muttered to herself as she continued on.
It just so happened that she did walk by the bush. The female trainer stopped in her tracks and looked around, concern written all over her face. Someone was crying and she wanted to see what she could do.
After a few seconds she established that the sobbing was coming from the bush to her side. Tess blinked at the bush, then walked toward it and kneeled down to see what was going with whoever it was that was hidden in there and crying.
"Oh, poor thing," she whispered as she saw the Oddish. Louder, she added "Hey, little buddy. What's wrong? Why are you crying?" She tilted her head to the side and smiled at the little Pokemon.

The Oddish let out a small cry of fear as the trainer peered through the bush, freezing up and getting ready to run. Soon enough though, she established that the trainer wasn't going to hurt her. She hiccuped quietly, before gazing at the ground again and snniffling. She seemed a bit more reluctant to cry now that there were eyes upon her. <Not poor me... poor daddy!> she said, before bursting into tears again.
After a few moments of uncontrollable crying, the small Oddish managed to get a grip on herself. Taking a few slow breaths, she looked up at the smiling trainer. She seemed nice... maybe she could help? A small spark of hope appeared in the Oddish's eyes and she glanced up at the trainer. <My- my daddy was taken away... a mean... very mean pokemon took him away! And now... I'm all alone...> she said.
<My mommy was captured a long time ago and we just got here... so I have no idea where to go.> she added. <Can you PLEASE help me?>

Concern flooded Tess' features and she nodded eagerly to the little Oddish. The poor thing was histeric! There was no way the kind trainer could just ignore the little Pokemon now! She held out a hand to see if the Oddish would come to her.
"Yes! Of course I'll help! What kind of Pokemon took your dad? Where did you last see them?" she asked, the words falling on top of one another as she questioned the little weed Pokemon. She hoped she could find the Oddish's father, but if she couldn't, she would do anything in her power to make sure the Oddish felt better.

The tiny grass-seed pokemon inched closer to the kind trainer, feeling a need for some comfort. She thought for a moment, her eyes staring off into the distance. The Oddish had a slightly look of depression thinking back to that day, but brightened up once the answer came to her. <It was a big ol' nasty Muk! Smelly too! He just absorbed my father and went back to this person... They said something about going back to the city.> she Oddish said, her own fronds drooping as the meaning of these words hit her.
<I'm never going to see him again!> she wailed. <Even if I managed to get to the city I wouldn't be able to spot the trainer from way down here!> she added miserably. Could this trainer help her find her father at all? A sudden idea struck this small pokemon and she looked up at the trainer with hopeful eyes. <Could? Could you take me with you? I would be able to regonize him if I was at the same height as you!> she said, hopping close to the trainer and begging. <Please? I'll be good! I'll help you!> she cried wanting nothing more but to find the last of her faimly.
Oddish wants to come with you! ::oddish::

Pity swelled in Tess' chest at the sight of the sad little Oddish. When she asked to come with her, there was no other option but to say yes. She wanted desperately to help out this little Pokemon, even if she didn't particularly enjoy most Grass Types.
"Alright! I'll do it!" she cried dramatically, getting to her feet. She knelt down and picked up the little Oddish. She would maybe use a Pokeball on the little Pokemon later. She would have a better chance of finding the trainer if she held the little Oddish.
Of course, Tess wasn't really ready to go into town. . . She wondered briefly if she should just go into town real quick to get a better chance at finding the trainer before they moved on, then she could come back and finish training. . . Maybe she should ask the Oddish first.
"Did you want me to take you straight to the town?" she asked, biting her bottom lip. She still had a lot of training to do before her Pokemon were ready for their first contest battle, but she figured she could always come back. If they didn't hurry, the trainer that took the Oddish' father might move on.

The Oddish's eyes glinted with hope as her begging proved to tug on the trainer's heartstrings. The trainer's face showed clearly the sorrowful pity she felt for the small grass-type. The Oddish let out a small joyous yelp as Tess stood with great determination and agreed. <THank you! Thank you so much! You are a real blessing!> she exclaimed, as she was lifted higher than she had ever been before.
The pokemon's eyes were wide with awe, but she took the sudden change in elevation in stride and pondered the trainer's question. A small frond rested on the Oddish's chin in a thoughtful posture. The answer came fairly quick and the Oddish divulged her answer.
<Well... I know you might be busy... but the trainer could be getting further away with every moment. I know he won't leave until tomarrow due to a storm coming tonight, but we still need to find him!>
