The Pidgey was quickly off, flapping it's wings hard to gain altitude. Once in the sky the Pidgey continued it's little chat. <"I mean, just like that, why do pokemon have to follow humans anyway? It's us who have power."> cooed the Pidgey, keeping it's eyes on the eletric squirrel. Obviously the pokemon had a bad experience with a trainer.

"Ack..." Patch squeaked. He had been going so fast that he was headed right towards the end of the branch. He tried to stop himself but instead found himself tumbling forwards. With only a simple slip of his paw, he fell right off the branch. Luckily he landed right in Roran's arms who had expected this if the attack missed. Patch sighed, thankfully that he hadn't splattered everywhere on the ground. "Nice one Patch," Roran giggled in that geeky way of his. Kenji walked over as Patch jumped out of Roran's arms. <Sometimes it's nice to have a friend...> Kenji said, a small hint of a growl in his voice from annoyance.
Patch scrambled right up the tree again and waited for the next command. "Alright Patch, use growl then quick attack again." Patch nodded and let out a cute little growl. He scrambled up the tree even more until he was a bit above the bird. He scrambled across the tree at a quick speed again. He was above for a reason. Instead of jumping up at the bird, he would try to jump down. It seemed easier plus it had the added weight of gravity pushing him down. "PACHIRISU!" He squealed as he jumped downwards at the bird.

This time the bird wasn't able to react fast enough. Ignoring Kenji's little reply, the Pidgey hopped on it's feet again. Now on the ground, the Pidgey didn't seem to be able to take flight yet, perhaps it's wing had been injured by the suicidal attack from the Pachirisu.

"Pach!" Pachirisu shouted happily right after making contact. Both his arms and tail gripped onto the branch below to keep himself from falling. He looked down to the ground and leapt down, stumbling only a little bit. He didn't really need to bother listening to Roran's next command. Anybody could have predicted what it would be. Quick attack was pretty much the only physical attack he knew afterall. Patch ran in at the pidgey. The distance between them became merely a blur as Patch gained speed, rushing at the pidgey in a quick attack.
Roran mentally took note of the bird's injury. Perhaps this injury would make it easier to catch. He sighed as he nearly threw that idea from his mind. This pidgey didn't seem to want to be caught. Roran didn't need a pokemon that wouldn't like him at all. Sure it seemed like fun to try and create a bond with a pokemon who didn't like trainers. Perhaps even get the pokemon to like other trainers. But this pokemon seemed to have no chance of liking trainers.
"Patch, stop." Roran commanded suddenly before the attack was complete. Patch skidded to a stop, a foot or two from the pidgey. Patch looked a bit confused but Kenji knew what was going on. "It doesn't like trainers, so why should we make it hate us more?" Roran explained to the squirrel-pokemon. "Let's go on. We'll find some other pokemon to add to our team," Roran said with a smile. They took a few steps in the opposite direction from the bird, but Roran stopped once more. He found it cruel to leave such a pokemon with an injury. He took out a potion and sprayed it upon the bird. "Yeah, all of us trainers are really cruel," Roran said trying to teach the bird the simple fact that not all trainers were alike.
"Pichuuu..." Pichu yawned as he emerged from the hood of Roran's hoodie. Roran stood up and pulled Pichu from the hood. "Aww, I'm sorry Pichu. Did I wake you up?" Pichu shook his head in a 'no' as he gave a small morning smile. "Good, I hope your feet are feeling better," Roran said as Pichu snuggled in his arms. Roran didn't mind carrying this pokemon for the rest of the route as long as its feet were still hurting. "Goodbye," Roran said to the pidgey as they turned to head towards the town. As they left Roran smiled. Perhaps someday this bird would really find a trainer that he'd warm up to. A trainer that would care for him. Yes, someday this bird would love trainers once again.

It had been a while before any wild Pokémon dared to approach Roran and his Pokémon Team. For the closer you were to the town, the more likely it was to run into people. However, some had aimed to run into them from the start. This proved to be the case as a horned Pokémon with bright purple coloring started walking up the path towards Roran. It looked absolutely miserable and tired, one would even question why a Nidoran, nerveless a wild Pokemon, would be traveling in full view on the human made road. Slowly, the male looked up with a dazed expression on its face. Its body looked tense for a moment, but felt too weak to do much of anything. The only thing it felt like doing was watching Rorans movements.

Roran was about to command Kenji to attack when logic came in. Why was it in the middle of the path? Obviously something was wrong. Before he could even say anything, Kenji ran forwards to the pokemon. <Hey you, are you alright?> Kenji asked. The growlithe kept his distance however incase it did attack and so that he wouldn't get poisoned by the horn. Roran was curious as to what was wrong, but he kept even more distance than Kenji. Most pokemon didn't like trainers all that much so he didn't want to scare it away only for it to get worse. Maybe he'd have to catch it and bring it to a pokemon center.

"Nido Ni Ni..." <I'm lost, tired and hungry...> The thing lowered its head and begun to sit down on the ground. Weakness was getting to the young one, but it felt more relaxed as it realized that it wasn't going to be harmed.
It further explained its story, so as to not be seen as some whiny child with nothing better to do. It felt hopeful that maybe it would get some help, these guys seemed reliable enough. <When I hatched from my egg, I was all alone. By then it was kinda cold, but there wasn't any of this white stuff on the ground. I could find food here and there, but now I can't find anything to eat. Not like before. All gone...> The thing moaned its displeasure as its stomach made a demanding growl for it to eat. Keeping its stomach to the ground, it found that it would quiet only a little bit, and the hunger pains wouldn't hurt him as much.

"Hunger? That's all that this is about?" Roran said with a grin. He had been thinking that it was some sort of severe internal injury that he'd have to go to the pokecenter quickly to heal. But hunger pains were easy to heal. Even he could do it. He knelt down as he got slightly closer to the Pokémon. He set his backpack down infront of him and shuffled through it. He pulled out a large tin of pokefood. It was full after a side-trip to Verona Cafe with a new friend. "Here ya go..."
He put the tin next to the Pokémon. He didn't care if the Pokémon ate it all. They could go back to the cafe or just hurry to the next town. If it were spring they could easily find fruit or berries on trees. "If you need a rest, we'll camp out here next to you." Perhaps the Pokémon could use a nice fire and sleep. For a young pokemon, they usually stayed awake if afraid of other wild Pokémon attacking. If that was the case, perhaps it could sleep better knowing that Roran and his team would protect it. "It's getting late already...I'll put up the tent..." It was a specially designed trainer tent. Meant for one person and six Pokémon. There was a human door and a Pokémon door in it. It wouldn't take long to hook up this tent.
It was very small and fit into his backpack with ease. For added customer satisfaction, the set-up was easy. You just took it out of the bag and it would pop-up. He opened both the human door and the Pokémon door and pointed into it. "You could sleep in here or outside. I'm going to build a fire, so it will be warm either way." He let out his team quickly. They'd help him get wood, making the task quick and easy. Alora used her pound to split branches from the trees. Patch scurried up the trees and gathered dead leaves and branches. Rose and Pichu went off and got small little twigs seeing as that was about as much as they could carry. Koda simply stayed by the hungry pokemon, not much use without hands.
Kenji had a very important role that made Roran even more happy to have him. Whatever the other Pokémon brought back, Kenji would use ember to light it. It wasn't long before a good sized fire was going. Roran was currently setting up the tent a bit more by setting multiple pillows and blankets in it for the Pokémon and himself. It wasn't time to go to sleep yet, far from it. But it didn't hurt to be prepared. Plus they were all deserving of a rest.
"Just think you guys, someday we can have a huge campsite with a cooked dinner and..." he trailed off just thinking of such a day. Perhaps they could catch some fish and cook them. That seemed like fun. Cooking was a great advantage on a journey. He'd learn to cook multiple things somewhere down the line. He sighed as he pulled out a frozen dinner. He had more than needed because he had packed some for him and his sister. He sighed yet again thinking of how she was possibly making it without food. He held his dinner of the fire and waited until it was hot before he began to eat.

The male Nidoran looked thoughtfully at Roran, debating with itself if it should or should not trespass upon this human's kindness. Another growl from his stomach. Okay, time to eat up.
The pokemon carefully took a sniff at the opened tin. It smelled heavenly after going for weeks without food. Opening his mouth, the Nidoran munched happily on the food, letting his stomach fill up. It only took a while for the Nidoran to be full, being a rather small pokemon and all. The Nidoran gave a satisfied burp before looking to Roran once again.
["Thank you."] said the Nidoran cheerfully, smiling at Roran. The pokemon gathered up the tin and nudged it towards Roran, the tin still half full. ["I really appreciate what your doing for me but I think I'll just stay out here until by belly isn't so full."] The pokemon laughed. The sweet scent of food filled their surrounding as Roran cooked his own dinner.
How he wished that things would be so easy like this.

"Your welcome," Roran said putting his own food down for a moment. He closed the tin and put it into his backpack. The backpack was quite over-stuffed but it was slowly getting smaller with everything that the group was using. But of course when they reached the next town it would become over-stuffed once again. Roran turned back to his food only to see Pichu eating it. "Pichu..." Roran groaned. He didn't go much farther than a groan. He had eaten enough to make him full. Pichu grinned sheepishly before holding it out to him. "Nah, you eat. I'm full. Just stay away from this..." He pulled out the desert part of the tray and ate it himself. "It's an awful food that would make you sick," he lied.
Kenji sat by the fire near the Nidoran. For as long as the Nidoran stayed out here, so would he. <If you need any extra rest besides just sleeping, we'd be happy to escort you to a Pokémon center. But you may have to wait a bit for that. We're training to face the next gym leader and need to get a few levels in before we actually face him. The way Roran sees it is that the more levels we gain, the easier it will be for us when we do battle.> Kenji didn't mind all this small-talk for some reason even if this chit-chat was better suited for someone like Patch.
Koda gave a large yawn and walked right into the tent. He was exhausted from his last battle having fainted. So he knew that with a nice sleep, he'd have his energy back. "G'night Koda," Roran said as he noticed the Pokémon walk into the tent. Koda nodded, too tired to reply. He snuggled right ontop of a pillow with his tail wrapped around him. Almost instantly he fell asleep. Roran smiled and walked over giving the Pokémon a slight kiss goodnight and pulled a blanket over him. He felt a bit like the team's mother whenever he did things like this, but that all was fine with him.

<That tends to be the general trend in battle> the Nidoran said with a smile, looking at Kenji. <The more levels you gain, the easier things tend to become. Of course, no matter how strong you are, there will always be someone better. No one person can beat everyone.>

<Yeah, I know. But he wants it to be really easy for us. Perhaps someday a gym battle like this will seem like nothing.> Yet again it was more chit-chat. Kenji was begining to feel slightly uncomfortable and looked to Patch for a bit more comfort. The pachirisu noticed this look and instantly scurried over. This little rodent could talk non-stop for ages and ages. He was much better suited to talk to such a pokemon. Kenji gave him a look of thanks as he slowly got up. To end their conversation as politely as possible he said, <I'm going to go check on Rose.>
Patch nodded and resumed where Kenji left off. <Well ya see...Kenji left out a bunch of important stuffs. We ain't out here just to train. We're also out here to create bonds. The stronger the bond, the better we do, I say.> The squirrel spoke quite fast and was begining to go on and on about nothing. He paused only to let the Nidoran speak otherwise he'd have kept going. He added one last thing in quickly before giving the floor to the other pokemon. <We're gonna win no doubt. I'm the most strong and amazing pokemon you'll ever meet...> The squirrel was getting ahead of himself. He gave a wide grin to show that he was merely kidding around.

His blue green eyes saddened as he realized that Kenji was leaving him, though not far away, he felt rather upset about it. Thankfully the one who came to chat with him was a very friendly Pachirisu! Only thing was that he had to look up if he wanted to say anything in this non-stop conversation. It was actually getting hard to keep up with whatever the two were saying, because this little mind just craved this kind of attention and friendliness.
For a while, the Nidoran was believing the things that Patch was saying. Being innocent, his eyes sparkled at the thought of meeting one of the most amazing Pokemon he would ever meet.
<Oh! I'm sure you really are a cool Pokemon, but wouldn't that make the others jealous? I think its hard living with so many things going on at once, do you ever fight with yourselves? Cause' if you live and eat like this, I wanna know if its worth it when I find the trainer for me.> He gave a big grin over at the electric type, and jumped up in the air to add to this point. Soon after that he had to stumble down, with a giggle. He still had a really bloated belly, and had to wait it off.

Patch gave a grin to show that he obviously liked this Nidoran a lot. It believed him for one thing. This could've been a bad thing since it began to raise Patch's ego like nothing else. <Yeah I am great. They all get jealous of me from time to time. Mainly the growlithe you were just speaking with...> Kenji's ears pricked up as a soft and low growl escaped his lips. Patch flinched and turned the other way so he wasn't looking right into those narrowed eyes. <I....uh...yeah...> Patch stuttered on his words for a moment before continuing on. <Well, we all get along well enough...> He paused as he snuck a quick glance to Alora. He did a very small motion to her and continued, <That Buneary over there is the only problem this team has. You see....she is inlove with Pichu since he was really nice to her when she was wild. But of course, that sort of romance doesn't work out. Pichu and Rose however...> He gave yet another glance and motion to a Pichu who was feeding a roasted marshmallow to an Azurill.
He giggled at the thought of all this chaotic romance. <The best part is that she is inlove with RORAN...> He fell to the ground in a sudden burst of laughter. <Imagine that, a pokemon and a trainer!> His laughter didn't stop until Alora came running at him and gave him a hard pound in the stomach. She looked quite furious.
<NO! PICHU IS MINE NOT ROSE'S> she shouted angrily before giving him one last pound. She turned away and took Pichu by the tail and dragged him away from Rose.

The Nidoran's ears perked up as he caught a sudden growl from Kenji, though he was unfazed by this, he did notice how nervous Patch was getting all of a sudden. Though he wasn't really connecting the dots right now.
<The only problem? Why-> He listened intently to the Pachirisu's explanation. His eyes scrunching up as he thought about the whole concept of love and all of that mushy stuff. Bah, he didn't want anything to do with it if it involved getting beat up by girls like that Pichu was.
<So...I guess Rose and Alora don't like each other much? H-H-HEY! Are you okay?!> The Nidoran shouted the moment he realized that Patch was in pain. He ran right up to him and gave him a gentle shake, before sending a fearful glance at Alora. <She's scary. No wonder the Pichu doesn't love her. I think I'd run away, actually.> He sweatdropped as he whispered this over to Patch.
(( -giggles- This is fun, Modding your thread. =3))

<Y-yeah. I'm the greatest, so of course I'm alright!> Patch said as he instantly shot up. He hid the pain well by holding back winces. <So great....great...> he began to repeat himself as he felt slightly dizzy. He fell right back down, knowing that he'd faint if he didn't get some rest. <Bah...I'm not tired or anything,> he lied. <I just like the view better down here.> The view was quite pretty. It was getting darker and darker so the stars were begining to appear. The moon could be seen slightly in the darkening sky. <Yeah, yeah...> he was mumbling inaudibly now, just about ready to faint from lack of energy. <Roses...> That was the last thing before he fainted right there.
Kenji walked back over and smiled. It was a strange unpracticed smile. <Yeah, so great,> he mocked playfully. He looked to the Nidoran for a moment and said as politely as possible, <I'll be back. I'm going to take this idiot to the tent.> He picked the squirrel-pokemon gently by the scruff. After making sure he had a strong grip, he carried him into the tent. He set the Pachirisu right next to Koda where the two instantly snuggled together by wrapping their tails around one another. Kenji smiled yet again and walked right back out. He truly was like the daddy in the team. He was the Dad and Roran was the Mom. A truly unique combo. As promised, he came back to the Nidoran and sat down next to him.
"Rosey, it's past your bed time. You too, Pichu," Roran called out to the two. He picked Rose up and looked around for Pichu. Alora had dragged him off out of sight to knock some sense into him. "Where'd that mouse go?" he groaned as he tucked Rose in nicely. "If any of you get cold, tell me so I can put you into your pokeballs..." All of the pokemon rathered to stay outside their pokeballs as much as possible, even during the night, but Roran knew that neither cold or heat could get to them in the pokeballs. When Pichu and Alora finally did come back, Roran imediately took Pichu to bed. Alora followed imediately and took her spot inbetween Pichu and Rose, keeping them from eachother. "You need your rest almost as much as Koda!" Roran scolded lightly to the Pichu regarding his bedtime. "Don't you want your feet to get better?" Roran left the tent at that and returned to the fire. Now only the Nidoran, Kenji, and him were awake and outside. He smiled in their direction as he threw another branch in.

Making his laughter known in the quiet night, the Nidoran nudged Patch gently as he fell to the ground. He guessed that the pounds were stronger than both of them had realized, but he gladly laid down next to the electric type to gaze up at the glittering stars. Each looking like a bunch of eyes staring down at him, which was a comforting thought to him. As he scanned the sky, a made a small sigh. The moon truely was something tonight, it wasn't a full moon, but it looked close to it.
Being the species he was, he felt a small connection with the space up above them. As if he belonged up there, and not down here. When he saw Kenji come over, he realized that Patch had fainted right next to him.
<Oh, I didn't think he'd get knocked out.> He noted, as Kenji came back out to sit with him. He looked over to the side to hide the small yawn that escaped his mouth.
<You guys are so cool...Its like a giant family. I guess I'm kinda jealous about it.> Now the small Nidoran looked depressed about it. To him, he was robbed of his own family without knowing why. So to see a group like this was a comforting thought, that new families could be created in a bond of love. Didn't even have to be related, which was the best part.

Kenji couldn't help but smile at this nidoran. He liked him a lot more than he had thought. This nidoran could apprieciate the beauty that radiated down upon them from the sky. He wasn't much when hyper and annoying like Patch but he was truly a compatable person for Kenji when he was calm like this. But perhaps the poor thing was just tired. <A family?> he took in the words as if they meant something really important. <Roran's the mom no doubt which makes me the dad I guess.> He grinned lightly at the though of such a family. He laid down as he found himself begining to get tired.
<If you want a family of your own, find a group of people you really like and feel like you can get close to. It's what a lot of wild pokemon do. They find other wild pokemon and form a clan or they join a trainer's team.> He tried to hid a yawn but it came out anyways. He'd stay out here with the nidoran all night although he knew Roran would have to retreat back into the tent due to the cold. Either that or face getting sick. Almost as soon as Kenji thought about this, Roran stood up, yawned and said 'goodnight' to the two of them before climbing into the tent.
But even more than simply staying outside with the nidoran, he'd also stay awake until it fell asleep. It wasn't so hard considering he practically slept with one eye open anyways. <I'll stay out here all night with you. If you get cold, just tell me.> Being a fire-type did have its advantages. He practically never got cold. His only true fear was water but he was better off in water than most fire-types. Dogs can swim afterall.
After a few sounds from the forest Kenji decided to add on another detail. <I'm a light sleeper. If anything comes along, you'll be safe.> Besides sleeping with one eye open, his ears were somehow always alert. Most growlithes could do such things because they were so loyal to their trainers and had a want to protect them. His head was lying upon the ground but his eyes were stuck upon the sky. His eyes seemed to twinkle as the star reflected their light into his optics.
<Do you find yourself ever just staring up there? Wondering what other pokemon are out there?> Kenji thought of such things often. Not just about the other pokemon out in the universe but also the ones that were on the same planet. <Makes you feel so...small.> He looked away from the sky as he felt the true pain of his words. He felt worse than small. He felt that if he didn't exist, the world wouldn't be any different. Basically, he felt truly unimportant. To add into his feelings he always thought about legendaries and powerful pokemon. He was the team's strongest pokemon but he was so weak compared to so many pokemon out there. He was going to have to be as strong as the pokemon in the Pokemon League some day. He looked to the Nidoran and decided to let his feelings be known. <We're going to face the Elites some day. Do you really think we can make it that far?>

It was funny how he could act like this, the Nidoran. He supposed that he could act so calm and appreciative when he was tired. Since he didn't have the energy to go running around like a young child would, which he normally would be. Making games out of finding food was what he used to do at least. <Go and find a group? I guess I could try that. Its hard to get along with other Pokemon out here though, sometimes they aren't nice to me.> He frowned at this, but he did feel comforted by Kenji's kindness. He certainly was glad to find someone to trust, and even better, a bunch of people and Pokemon he could. <I never thought about it, really. I think it would be sad to try all the time. I mean, I know if everyone felt that way, how could anyone be happy? Besides, your big to me. > He smiled as he said this, trying to reassure the Growlithe from the pain he was feeling. Though he was a little naive on such serious thoughts. <If you try, I'm sure you can! Elites are just people and Pokemon, right? They started like you, and once you follow the paths they did, you can get to their level. Once you get there, it won't be as scary.> 'I think, at least. I hope I'm right. ' The Nidoran sweatdropped as he felt his eyes get droopy. Already he was finding it impossible to stay awake, no matter how much he wanted to chat with his friend. Keeping his mouth shut, he managed to hold in in a yawn. Sometime during this conversation, two huge eyes peered at the Nidorana dn Growlithe from the shelter of a tree trunk. It was a short Pokemon, so it was just able to hide behind it. Only its large white antenna's were sticking up. Alert, as Kenji was claiming to be. A giant ball of fuzz was what this Pokemon was, but it had more sinister intentions. Food is what it had smelled on its way over here, and it was intending to leave with a full belly. True that it wanted to attack the two Pokemon, it sensed the fire power that Kenji had possessed. Scrunching its body closer to the ground, it waited to see if the Growlithe would show any signs of falling asleep. For if that happened, with the Nidoran sleeping as well, it would begin its raid. Though this was not a patient bug type, and was just itching to run over and let out a random attack.

Kenji could feel the tiredness sweeping over him. He'd only had a battle during the day in which he barely had to do anything, but his energy was zapped anyway. <Thanks...> he mumbled towards the Nidoran. One of his eyes closed slightly as the other remained open. He was taking what some might call a power-nap. He'd wake the instant anything made a noise or if he saw something move. He'd only fall asleep the moment he knew everything was completely safe. The only chance of that happening was if a different pokemon came to take his 'shift'.
