"Excuse me?" Roran said as his eyes narrowed. A very awkward and unpracticed expression came onto his face, anger. It was fake anger of course, if that was even possible. He was simply trying to act it. Multiple times he would always try to act big, strong, angry, and even brave. The only problem was that it was so easy to see through, you didn't even need x-ray vision. "That's your pokemon isn't it? So technically it IS your fault." He crossed his arms over his chest to make it seem like he was mucho macho. Perhaps by hiding his chest, this bug-boy might believe there was actually muscle there instead of absolutely nothing.
That was when the insult hit him. Control his pokemon? "I can control them if I want to. I just won't!" It was Roran's strange logic comming in again. He found it best to let the pokemon just be themselves. Then they'd listen to him because they wanted to and not because they had to. More details to this logic were simply locked away in Roran's head. "I see you can't control yours even if you want to. It went and ran off with your stick."

The kid almost couldn't think of a reply when Roran pointed out his obvious fault. Silently cowering from the older boy, Evan stood up straighter than he ever had. Now he was trying to pull off the same macho act as Roran! Though, this time maybe he was doing it a little better. Sunhat and all.
"Maybe we should see who control's their Pokemon better, in a battle!" He offered, narrowed eyes and cocky voice included. Sending a glance over to Free, the Butterfree looked back over to him and grinned a playful grin. Funny how they resembled each other, they were even acting the same.

"Is the butterfree your only pokemon?" Roran said as he clicked a pokeball off his belt. "If not, we could make it a double battle." He twirled the pokeball on his finger to make him seem so cool. Anyone who knew Roran would imediately start laughing at just how pathetic it was, but this boy was at a disadvantage. He didn't know Roran. He pushed the button to let out the pokemon. Nothing came out. "Eh?" he mumbled into the pokeball. Was it broken? Stuck shut? His eyes widened in fear. Would Kenji never be able to come out ever again. Roran's fingers tried to pry it open as he went into a state of panic.
<Idiot. I'm right here. None of us are in our pokeballs.> Kenji retorted with a bored expression on his lips. His voice calmed Roran down quite a bit. Such relief filled the boy that he picked his growlithe up and hugged it like a dear teddy-bear, leaving Kenji not too happy. <Just let me go so I can tear that thing apart.> With that he flashed his canines at the boy to try and get him scared.

"Double battle?"
More like a thought to himself outloud. It would be risky, both could go down faster than one at a time, but being just a kid and having everything in the world to prove, he wasn't about to back out of such a tempting challenge.
"Okay! Drill will be helping you out, Free." he said as he allowed the Beedrill to materialize from it's Pokeball and hover next to the Butterfree.
After finding some amusement out of the other guys fiasco with the Pokeball, he was a bit discouraged to see a Growlithe going into play. That would make this very hard for him, as both of his were at a huge disadvantage. Oh well, he could manage!
"So who goes first? wanna flip a coin?" He knew there were rules usually, certain pokemon had stats that dictated the first move, yaddayadda. none of that was fun. Besides, he needed something to talk about while the other chose his second pokemon - he prayed that wouldn't be another fire type.

A beedrill and a butterfree. This battle would be too easy with Kenji out in play. He decided against letting out Kuro. The battle would be too pathetic then and neither pokemon would get much training. Shinx was the one who needed some levels. "Shinx, get next to Kenji." Roran commanded as he looked to Shinx. He looked to the other pokemon and rose his head slightly. This was his not so obvious way of telling them to watch carefully and learn.
Roran relaxed himself before glaring towards the boy. "It's time for you to pay!" A cheesy catchphrase already? How pathetic. He pulled up his hand and pointed towards the two bug type. "Kenji use Ember, Shinx start charging." He took the liberty of going first. Afterall, he wanted this kid good and gone so he could continue catching other pokemon.
Kenji nodded and opened his mouth. No flame came out just yet. It was building in strength and intensity at the back of his throat. Finally he unleashed it towards the two. He wasn't really aiming, it was in such a broad area that one of them was bound to get hit. Shinx could feel the flame from next to the growlithe while he charged up himself. He took the static from the air and turned it into his energy. Energy that would soon fuel an electric attack.

Drill looked a lot more calm than the Butterfree that flapped her wings quickly in anxiety, the urge to get some action was overwhelming Free. Something was going to happen, and someone was going to get hurt. But who would be first? The Beedrill kept a steady gaze on the Shinx and Kenji, but with his large eyes one couldn't be sure what he was looking at unless asked.
Evan sighed to himself as he found himself against a Fire type, the other? Of course, it had to be an Electric type. Free would be having more problems than he would've liked. Never minding the obvious disadvantage he was put at, he looked at the Ember with a calm expression. It was only an Ember, but he had to be impressed at how it looked similar to a Flamethrower.
"Free, stop that flame with Confusion." His voice was bit shaky as he spoke, mostly from his risky idea. Sure, in theory a Psychic type move should do well against a Fire attack. Free's eyes began to glow a blue hue as the Confusion was let out, increasing with a tiny spiral which was normally used to confuse opponents. Except now it managed to part away the flames, scattering them carelessly to the ground. Now there was a clear path in the middle, and Evan wanted to take that opportunity.
"Drill, get in there with Fury Attack on the Growlithe. " Evan was sounding much more excited as he moved slowly in on the offensive. The Beedrill remained motionless until his name was called, and void of any expression he flew with his stingers forward. Ready to give multiple strikes at Kenji.
<I'll make you move so fast that you can't let out those Embers.> He hissed through the heat of the attacks. His eyes furrowed with concentration as he put speed and power into each strike.

Speed and power worked well together and this beedrill had both. Kenji may have power, but he was slow, making dodging a terribly hard task. He allowed himself to be hit, but attempted to brace against as much as possible. Finally when the frenzied attack was finished, Kenji stepped back a bit before building up yet another ember. This time it wasn't one large stream of flame, but instead multiple small well aimed flames. He shot at both of them, hoping to hit somebody. With more than one, it would be harder for the butterfree to simply bat it away with confusion.
Shinx was having a better time, not even being attacked. He could feel all this energy rushing through him from the charge. He was still charging, but he'd unleash his electricity this time. His eyes were shut tight the entire time he was charging. Finally he finished, the equivalent of two charges. (One from the last post, one from this). His eyes shot open, glowing a light blue. Now came for the attack. He ran forwards, the energy even feeding into his speed. He sparked as he ran closer and closer towards Free. Free would be better to do a contact attack on since Drill had those nasty needles. He leapt up into the air, now completely engulfed in electricity. This was his Spark attack.

After its devestating looking Fury Attack, the Beedrill made a swift turn away from the Growlithe as it went to rejoin Free in the air. Though only hovering so they could made their own attacks, while the Butterfree simply let out an impish giggle as the battle begun. The feeling of excitment rushing through her mind as Evan shouted out in alarm about the Embers/
"Watch out! " The boy shouted in worry, more upset that it wasn't the type attack that a Confusion would push away. There were simply too many Embers to try and defend from. Drill swiped one of the Ember's away with his stingers, feeling a faint burn but was otherwise alright.
Free was distracted like a bug and a light, (which was the case, ironically) and floated transfixed as the Ember knocked it lower to the ground. Letting out a girlish squeak of pain as an unexpected super-charged Spark was rammed into it. Its wings were trembling with the acess electricity, and found itself slightly paralized on the ground. Letting out a grunt of frustration, the Butterfree used Harden on itself to protect herself while she was down. Otherwise, she couldn't move from the ground.
Evan appeared worried at his Butterfree's sudden type disadvantages, but a small plan figured out. Obviously the Shinx was a physical attack user, or else it would've used a stronger attack than Spark. To defend his injured Free, he thought out an idea quickly.
"Drill, use String Shot on that Shinx! As much as you can." He called out, sending one last glance at Free before keeping his eyes glued on the Growlithe. Wondering just what the Fire type would do if they didn't attack him for one turn. It probably wouldn't be good, he thought as Drill shot out the sticky thread in Shinx's direction.

<Aw shoot,> Shinx moaned as he saw a huge string of nasty white goo head his way. But before it even came at him, he noticed a look from Kenji. He had a plan for the string shot. That was a good thing about Shinx and Kenji being out to battle together. They could work in unison unlike any of the other pokemon. Shinx eyed the string shot and raised his paw with claws unsheathed. The string shot hit him, but it wasn't over yet. All he had to do now was wait for Kenji's move.
Kenji eyed the string and let out an ember onto it. The string was extremely flammable (refering to a battle on the show. Torchic versus that spider pokemon. Spinarak, spinirak, whatcha-ma-call-it.) and burst into flame instantly, shooting two ways. The fire shot up towards the beedrill and down towards Shinx. Shinx was ready however and sliced the string before the fire could reach him. He looked at the sticky goo on him and moaned. This would take forever to clean off.
Shinx glanced over to Kenji and noticed that he was breathing a bit heavier than usual. Perhaps using so many embers was finally begining to get to him. <Kenj, stay back for now. I'll handle this,> Shinx shouted out to his partner. Kenji had done enough for this turn. Shinx had noticed Free's state of paralysis and wanted to take advantage of it. He bolted towards the fallen butterfree ready to use another Spark. As he ran, he noticed that the string shot had gotten onto his legs, making him stumble slightly and even more, forcing him to use extra energy to run. Nevertheless, he reached where the Butterfree was and leapt at her, using Spark.

Keeping a straight face, the Beedrill silently cheered as the String Shot made a direct hit. It wasn't by much though, for it was hoping to encase the Shinx's entire body in the mass of string, but doing it part way was alright. His long needle like arms stood up in a protective manner across his chest, just in case something happened.
Evan was a trainer that was used to listening to other trainer's orders in a battle, and react to that. So when the Ember was released, he was taken by surprise. Yet, he argued in h is head, that he was yelling at Roran for not controlling his Pokémon earlier. It was an instant attack, the Ember's were fueled by the burning material and led straight towards Drill. The bug catcher could only gasp as his Beedrill's mouth received a nasty burn.
Drill knew at once the cause of the attack, but was having difficulty trying to get rid of the remaining string. Finally, by using his sharp hands, he managed to tear off the String Shot. His wings beat furiously as the heat from the attack was making his temperature rise. It was a close call, for it could've been much much worse. Normally, in his anger he would head right to the offending Pokemon, but Evan intervened.
"Drill, Free, cover the field in String Shot!" The trainer called out, without much thought, with much regret. Right after he called that out, Free had already been knocked into the air from the Spark, and cried out in pain. Taking a deep breath, the Butterfree managed to get her wings working again, and hovered in the air. Drill flew to the opposite side of her, and the two both began spraying the sticky substance all over the grass, and some around the base of the trees. They were careful to avoid hitting the Shinx and Growlithe, however. The reason seemed alien enough, but if one thought about it, then it would prove to be a powerful defense.

"ACK!" Roran shouted as he watched the field get sprayed with that diguistingly sticky white goo. He stepped back quickly, shielding Dawn, his young skitty, from everything. Some of the string managed to get onto him and his hair. The paranoid femmeboy quickly began to run his fingers through his hair in a panic. This was terrible. What if he met somebody he wanted to make a good impression on? What if...What if... So many horrible scenes were running through his head just beacause of a little bit of goo. "I'm fed up with this."
Seeing Roran angry was perhaps one of the rarest sights one could witness. Right now, he was getting angry with this battle. It wasn't because he had his hair completely ruined but instead because of the fact that he was a professor. A professor who was losing a battle with an amateur. No other professor would battle this terribly. They were going to have to do something quickly. He looked around the ground and thought of a way to use it to their advantage. The idea came to him strangely quickly. There were certain mouse traps made with a sticky substance that would catch the mouse and trap it there until it starved to death. There wasn't any reason that they couldn't do this to the two bugs. They merely had to find a way to get the bugs to touch the ground. Roran began to think of a way to do that. Too bad it was too late.
<Darn bugs...> Kenji opened his mouth with a loud snarl and let loose an ember onto the field. Yeah, Kenji wasn't really thinking too straightly. The entire section of the forest they were in began to burst into flames. Kenji would be perfectly fine in the midst of it but Shinx would not. Shinx leapt up the second he saw Kenji open his mouth. The area was in flames by the time he landed. Horrible flames danced around him.
<KENJI! YOU IDIOT!> He cried out in pain. The flames engulfing the area were still going strong with no clear indication of stopping. Shinx could feel them singe his fur and even get deep into his skin. He curled up into a ball as he tried to get through the pain. Hopefully he'd still be alive when the flames did go away.
"SHINX!" Roran screamed in that high pitched voice of his. The anger was gone so quickly that it was disturbing. It was replaced by some of the worst kind of fear. Shinx was in danger right now. The flames were tall, nearly over the top of the trees and the smoke was thick. Roran couldn't even see the other trainer. The entire area was burning down. Too bad the string shot was so flammable or else this wouldn't have happened. All sense was swept out of Roran's mind as he ran right into the flames and tried to find Shinx. The flames were tearing into his clothes as he tripped over something on the ground. He knew what it was instantly and threw himself over it. He had to protect Shinx from the fire at all costs. "It's gonna be alright..." he choked through both the smoke and pain.

"Oh crap! You actually used Ember!" Evan after the area burst into a cloud of flame and smoke, it was mixing so beautifully that one couldn't tell which was which. But one would know that each was equally as dangerous. Slow and painful, or fast and quick. Take your pick.
Even the Beedrill and Butterfree couldn't escape the tall flames, the string that had caught on some trees had managed to touch Free, and she quickly fell to the ground. Withering in pain as Drill watched helplessly, attempting to dive down to retrieve her, but his fear of fire was too overwhelming to save her. Evan dashed right in with the Butterfree's Pokeball, calling her name over and over as the cloud of smoke engulfed him. Now Drill was in the sky all alone, not even his trainer could guide him as the disaster took place below him.
<Help them...Someone...> He whispered as he flew in a frenzy above the cloud of smoke, looking for some type of opening but failing. If this kept up, everyone would die. Damn him for not owning a water type. The Beedrill thought miserably.

Roran had to think quickly. Nothing was making sense and all his thoughts ran into one huge blurr. Thankfully he finally did regain some method of brain process. He pulled out Shinx's pokeball and returned him. There, Shinx was safe. But what about him? He felt Kenji against him, trying to fend off some flames but there was nothing the growlithe could do. If you fight fire with fire, you only get more fire.
<USE KAILA> Kenji shouted to Roran. Roran looked at him confused for a moment. If he let Kaila out then she'd be harmed too. What the heck was Kenji getting at. Then it clicked. Only recently had Kaila learned a move called Rain Dance. Her pokeball shook as if she knew that only she could stop this threat on Roran's life. With a beam of light, Roran released her. The heat hit her the second she came out. She stumbled back, a bit stunned.
"Use Rain Dance. Make it a strong one," Roran choked out. He had his sleeve over his mouth to try and filter the smoke. "Please." This was probably one of the first times that his life was actually in danger. He felt something hit him and looked up to the sky. The clouds that had been blackened with smoke, were now a light grey and pouring out rain. It felt refreshing but it wasn't over yet. "Keep it up Kaila. It's going to be a long time before this fire dies out. The fire was spreading towards the rest of the forest at an alarming rate. The area there were in was begining to thin out thankfully. Roran remained on the ground, too tired to get up. "Good job, Kaila. Don't stop just yet, we've got to save the rest of the forest too."

As the fire began to wear down, clouds of smoke parted to the sides. Following faithfully to wherever the fire led, despite the harsh rain that poured down on it. Near the middle of the field lay the young trainer, unconsious, with a Pokeball still clutched in his hands. Drill hurridly flew towards his trainer, scanning the area and sighed. Free was safely inside the Pokeball. That was somewhat a relief, but Evan...
" Bee bee..." He muttered, giving the boy a gentle nudge as the rain fell heavily around them. The scent of charred wood and clothing lingered in the area. To be expected from a fire. In the background, the harsh blaze continued on, fighting for its life against the water. Not that Drill cared, he only had concern for the child before him.

[Osht...should we like have...officer Jenny appear and take them to a pokemon center. I'm sure Joy would help them fix up. I mean Kenji's pretty much set Route 1 on fire. I'm sure Officer Jenny would be comming.]

OOC:
I don't think we ever made a Officer type NPC, but we could say that that happened or something. ^^' Not really in the mood to roleplay it. Just post at the Pokémon Center, acting like everything ended up alright, and you'll get the levels for effort.
Sound good?

ooc: No, you don't have to go to the Gym. ^^
I just don't want to start roleplaying officer Jenny, and go through the process of killing the fire all over Route One. It would almost be like making a mini plot, right? o-o' So, just go there and come back, with a level for every Pokemon that battled.
