He looked to his notebook again; as the three of them traveled down the rugged path. Warren was doing all the heavy lifting; because Scuttlebutt was perched upon his shoulder, looking around as if it was a pirate in a crow's nest- and the Magnemite he had gotten, it occasionally glared at the two of them, floating lazily about two and a half feet away; at the edge of the path. The nineteen year old trainer didn't let the magnet pokemon's attitude affect him though, he was busy studying his notes on its type and the moves a Pokémon of its size would know; according to his hastily scribbled down notes from his copy of Pokémon Trainer's Technique Guide Annual 2010; one of the three non-essentials in his orange and blue [oversized] backpack; the others being a box of pens and pencils, his journal; Warren's old orange beanie; which his Weedle would not sleep without being nestled in.
Back to his reading; this narrator often annoys him by making the scene twitch with unnecessary details. Warren's information figured that a Magnemite of the size of his newly caught Magnemite; it was probably no stronger than a level 3. That said; his eyes went over them and quickly factored in what he knew. Tackle; that was simple. The grunt work physical technique which was necessary for any battle; and then something called metal sound which lessened special defense upon opponents; no actual electric attacks! How was he supposed to capture a water Pokémon without electric attacks?
“Why did the Pokémon that that Pokémon Ranger lady helped me get have to be that scrap heap of a Pokémon...” he grumbled to himself; only to have the Pokémon glare at him with 'oh you done done it now' eye, and send forth a blast of electricity at the trainer, to which the trainer tried to dodge; and his Weedle compatriot rolled out of the way; sending a good surge of electricity through the trainer, and making tears roll down his cheeks as his body twitched for a moment; before he picked up a rock and hurled it at the magnet Pokémon fastball style. “I'm your master, you don't attack me, you little piece of junk!” Another blast of lightning, this one dodged, and that blue and red pokeball [the greatball, rather] which was the Pokeball for the Magnemite; it was yanked from his belt by the trainer.
“Return, you piece of scrap!”
Scuttlebutt simply looked at the scene with a weird 'what the heck is wrong with you' look on it's face, or the closest to that expression it's lack-luster features could give. Of course Magnemite didn't like being called that! Warren didn't like being called outside of his name, did he? The Weedle wasn't sure, his human wasn't too good.
But he then saw his trainer laughing, and gave a 'pick me up' expression, positively giving larva pup eyes to his trainer as Warren picked him up; grinning to the Weedle. The dark haired young man grinned. “Our buddy knows an electric attack, Scuts!” The Weedle blinked, and then nestled into the trainer's shoulder, hopping once for show, “Weedle Weedle!”

Yum! That Weedle looked mighty tasty! On the Trainer's shoulders, lookin' like fine and easy pickin's, Zubat would be a fool not to try and snag some of that sweet, sweet meal from the Trainer. Flying down to flutter in place a few inches in front of the Trainer, he spoke to the Trainer while baring his fangs, ignorant of the fact that a human couldn't understand a Pokemon such as himself. >Now I know you're probably savin' that Weedle all for your lonesome, and I don't blame you, kind sir. It looks mighty tasty, and it'd go great with a little sauce and water, but I haven't eaten for days, you say, and I'm starvin- I say STARVIN' with both the hunger and the thirst alike!< A strong accent permeated through for anyone who understood the Pokemon language. >I swear on my momma's grave, I'll only take a quick bite. Now keep still! I don't wanna hurt you by accident, boy!< With that, the Zubat's fangs glinted, and he lunged towards the Weedle on his shoulder, eager for the sweet taste of Weedle blood caressing his taste buds. ::zubat:: Zubat used Leech Life. [OOC; Talis, I'm really liking your Game Mastering so far.]
Oh, they weren't really expecting it, these intrepid young adventurers. Warren was simply blinking as he saw the Zubat, hearing it chant 'Zubat Zubat Zubat' and assorted Zu and Bat derivatives at him, to which he pondered between reaching for a Pokeball and putting his Journal up. The beast seemed pretty enthuised with whatever it was going on about; and the steely blue eyed trainer wasn't entirely sure what to do to it.
Scuttlebutt however understood those words all too well, and began to scamper; but not quick enough. By a split second the Zubat's fangs contacted, and caused the Weedle to freak the heck out, as more than a fair amount of it's health was drained, and its 'dada' finally realized what was going on. Out of instinct; and sure and absolute lack of skill with training Pokemon, the young man threw a punch towards the Zubat, reaching for Magnemite's pokeball, as his Weedle rolled off his shoulder from the change of momentum, the hairy bug Pokémon landing on the ground in a roll, and instinctively sending a string shot Zubat's way, as Warren threw out Magnemite from it's greatball.
"We need your help, Magnemite! This Zubat is a psychopath and thinks Weedle is food!"
Weedle confirmed these words, sort've; but Magnemite didn't make a move to help them yet, it simply hovered there for the second. It's feelings were still hurt from that Scrap heap comment.

OOC: Thanks XD IC: Ooh, the taste of that Weedle had been so savory, so delicious. Even though he had promised to leave after one bite, he would have to dishonor the memory of his dear momma and have some more. That first taste had whet his appetite, and now Zubat wanted more. A burst of string enveloped his wings as he dodged the human's punch with a graceful movement backwards, folding his wings into his body for protection, causing a temporary feeling of listlessness. However, thoughts of another taste of this Weedle soon encouraged him to go in again. >I asked for sauce on the side, boy not string!< yelled the Zubat good-heartedly, before spreading his wings again. Though this Weedle seemed determined to emulate him, he would not give up this lucky opportunity for an easy meal. Lucky for him , anyway. Not so fortuitous for the unfortunate little worm that tasted so sweet. But that didn't matter to Zubat as he swooped down for another sip of sweet insect blood. ::zubat:: Zubat used Leech Life on Scuttlebutt.

The tempo of the song was quickening, the strings of the ethereal guitar called life rang out notes at a cadence faster than the human heart could beat. With every decision, every move or miscalculation; the notes of this song called adventures in life; they beat onwards. The dark haired nineteen year old realized that this onslaught would continue. Zubat was bigger and stronger than Scuttlebutt, and even without a pokedex he knew that it'd be hard for Weedle to do anything to him. Poison Sting was Weedle's only real offensive attack, and Zubat was a poison type. Leech life was bug type; and Weedle was bug type too. It would be a stand still with them barely chipping off vitality from each other until one fainted or worse. He needed a type advantage! Those steely blue eyes flickered in thought as he stood hunched forward in a guarding position to try to stop the Zubat. He looked from the spots on the scene, thinking. He had to take command! Weedle couldn't stop this Zubat that was for sure; but Magnemite could. The pale grey magnet Pokémon just floated there, still obviously upset from it all; and Warren moved on impulse. "Magnemite, I'm sorry for calling you what I did! You're no scrapheap, and me and Scuttlebutt need your help!" The orb, screws, and magnets Pokémon simply floated there; apparently unimpressed, at least for a moment; but the battle was going badly. More health had been drained from the little Weedle, and it was moving as if a bit queasy; and the trainer shook his head, moving as if to fight the Zubat again; saying it one more time. "Come on, Magnemite! We have to work together! I'm telling you as your trainer, that even if we don't like each other right now; we have to work together!" The Magnemite inched forward, and then made the closest to a nod that it could. "Okay! Let's show this purple Mosquito a thing or two about Rock and Roll! Give him some Metal Sound and a Thundershock!" And the guitar strings hit a bit quicker, the beige hairy bug Pokémon confused for guidance as it's owner commanded their new friend; Self-doubt will kill you in the wild; and you can't hesitate! You have to bravely pick the notes even if it makes an amplified clang! [Which was something that somewhat described the Electronic screech that came from the Magnemite; like a roar into battle, before it shot forth a spear of electricity!] ::weedle:: -2 HP, No move.
::magnemite:: Used Metal Sound; and then Thundershock! ["Scrapheap Clang!"]

As the metal screech rumbled through the air, Zubat let loose a screech of his own, fluttering back as the sound resonated within his skeletal body, almost as though the sound had weakened his body. >Arceus, boy! That almost took my ears off!< shrieked Zubat, glaring down at Warren. >Your momma oughta be ashamed of yourself, picking on a hungry ole bat like me when there's plenty of Weedle to 'round for all!<The Zubat didn't have time to continue his rant- rather hypocritical, coming from a Pokemon who had just attacked a baby- as a javelin composed of electricity surged through his body, making him screech in pain and shock. When the electrical blast stopped, Zubat glared at the Mgnemite- however that looked for a creature with eyes perpetually shut- and continued his rant. >Arceus, boy!< he repeated. >You almost turned me into Cheyenne Fried Bat!< With that, Zubat let loose a high pitched sound of his own, directed towards the Magnemite in an attempt to scramble its brain waves and confuse it. >This'll perplex ya gooood!< swore Zubat loudly. ::zubat:: Zubat used Supersonic on Magnemite. Oh, Magnemite; Scrapheap as it's master had called it as of yet. It was in no mood to play, oh no. It was a grumpy little guy but it wasn't grumpy; it was furiously grouchy. While it didn't particularly like this trainer of his, this Zubat was going to attack that Weedle until he was dead; and had brought forth a challenge. The magnet pokemon couldn't hold his anticipation the statement about perplexing him, and just as the supersonic hit; the Magnemite was ready to dodge, but the blue rings came to quick for him to move out of the way whole sale, he'd need a counter! "Magnemite! Use Metal Sound!" was the answer, called from the dark haired trainer that was Magnemite's new owner. Warren wasn't even sure it would work, but the 19 year old knew it was worth a try. Sounds could block out other sounds, right? In this case; it seemed a lucky break, as the Magnemite buffeted to the side sending another metalic clang, another electric growl, another metal sound. The attack deflected the Supersonic, for now; and the Magnemite looked intently with it's singular eye. "Thundershock!" was the word that came from Warren's mouth; just as he launched the blast of electricity forward. But Scuttlebutt wasn't going to sit there and let people defend it! That was silly! It threw itself forward in a charge, attempting a Poison Sting! ::Weedle:: -2 HP, Used Poison Sting!
::Magnemite:: Used Metal Sound to counter/deflect supersonic, attacked Zubat with Thundershock!

Ow! Sweet mother of mercy that hurt! The Supersonic and Metal Sound cancelled each other out with a sound akin to metal screeching against metal, making the Zubat's sensitive ears resonate the sound painfully for several seconds.
After the sound faded, he dodged the Poison Sting from the lower leveled Weedle, enduring the Thundershock. As the smell of singed bat permeated the air, Zubat decided to target the Weedle again and at least try to knock it out. At a lower level, it was more vulnerable to his attacks.
Swooping down, he cried out. >Now hold on, hold still. This won't hurt a bit if you just keep still.< If he managed to knock out the Weedle, he could eliminate the Magnemite and drink the resistant little worm dry later.

The tempo was raising, and the dancers moving quicker. Even the DJ couldn't figure out exactly what to say or do next; the excitement of finally [and after so long], being in a real Pokemon Battle with his own Pokemon against a wild Pokemon, it overwhelmed him. Warren's steely blue eyes dodged to and fro in the battle, taking note of the Zubat and of his own pokemon. He could see the Singe marks from his Magnemite's blasts already on the purple bat; but the damage it might've done to his Weedle also worried him. And it made him realize this Zubat wasn't going to turn tail and run; it had been hit pretty hard already and was still trying to defeat his Weedle. So as much as he thought this was getting a bit brutal, it had to keep going.
He threw himself back a few steps, giving a shout at Magnemite and Weedle. "Magnemite! Hit him with another Metal Sound and Thundershock combo! Weedle! Try to dodge it's attacks and counterattack with Poison Sting!"
Of course, the Weedle had already knew those things. It hated training for battles; but instincts still taught it a little bit, like to try to roll and dodge out of the Zubat's way, which didn't help it this time, and made it even weaker; but just as the strike hit him, it's trainers words had come, and it it lunged with it's stinger, trying to roll out of the way after making the movement.
Magnemite, hovered there boredly for the second, and then let out a simple sentence in Pokemon Langauge. "Why are you trying to hurt my friend Weedle, my trainer's other pokemon? Leave him or alone, this is your last chance!"
And then it sent forth a metal sound, followed by a thundershock.

Zubat (Special Defense -4) Hit by Thundershock and Poison Sting Uses Supersonic on Magnemite
The Zubat hissed when the raging Metal Sound harmed his sensitive ears, only intensified without his ability to see. It hurt, yes, but not enough to do damage. Instead, his guard was lowered even more despite the temporary health gain. He licked his lips quite happily after gaining another taste of the Weedle, snickering from his strong resistance to the Poison Sting despite how close it hit his mouth.
<Now boy-- I say, youngin'. I can'ts eats mah food when you be forcin a mes to play with ya. I ain't here as a sitta ya see, cause right here, yous knows yous mah lunch.> The Zubat explained, despite the exhaustion clear in his body language. It was made even worse when the super effective Thundershock struck him hard. He was lucky that he was at such a good level, otherwise that level 3 attack would've taken him down.
<Now you've gone and head and dun it. You've a dun it ya dunce! Ya goof! Ya dun goofed!> He howled at the Magnemite, letting out what he believed to be his final attack. A Poison Sting wasn't about to take him out, but anything this Magnemite used most certainly could. His Supersonic was loud and proud, but he needed that Confusion condition if he wanted that Weedle as his lunch.

The battle was won; the Team of Warren Orainge could keep this up; but how well Zubat could, that was a question. If the tactics they had used so far kept up, then there wasn't really anything which could be done by the Zubat to hurt them; at least if they shut him down quickly. While this Zubat was a psychopath, it was pretty tough too, and Warren's steely blue eyes almost -sparkled- at the possibilities of such a Pokémon on his team. All he had to do was keep in control; but he wasn't expecting the unexpected. “Piiiiiddddddddddgeeeeeeeooooooooooooooooottttttttoooooooooooooooo!” came a sudden and loud squawk from the sky, making the orange Weedle stickered Pokeball at his belt reached for quickly, Warren yelling without hesitation, “Scuttlebuttttt! Return!”, and dodging the missile that Pidgeotto seemed to throw his way, probably angry that it had lost it's easy meal. It had thrown things off, and as Supersonic came again; Warren didn't give the order in time. Scrapheap the Magnemite, he made his move regardless, trying to use Metal Sound to sonically counter supersonic, but not hitting the right pitch at the right time; and being hit by the Bat Pokemon's sonic blast and dealt with a bout of dizziness and confusion. The Magnet Pokémon floated around, a swirly sort've almost emote displaying in its eye as floated in a circle. “Magnemite! Magnemite! Magnemite!” the dark-haired, steely blue eyed trainer called out to his Magnet Pokemon, trying to get its attention as it floated around in it's confusion; but it was at a loss. The battle's tempo had turned, from a victory march's heavy drums to a quick guitar riff for the villain [Colonel Zubacula, obviously]. And then a more complicating sound hit the danceflooor; this song about Thundershocks and Hurled Rocks became a song about Thundershocks, Hurled Rocks, Vampire Bats; and... Elephant trumpets? As the 19-year-old stared concernedly at his Magnemite and the opposing Zubat, he nearly jumped out of his skin at a sleepy 'Phanpy Phaaannpy' to his back and left. Warren hadn't seen the missle that the Pidgeotto had dropped; after all. Not the wrapped cyan colored Pokeball [now not so wrapped as its wrapping was torn from the pokeball flying open as it was hit on its button] which now lay to the left and back of him, or the note attached by steel string to the cardboard paper and leather packaging; a letter from the former owners of this beast, no doubt. Not that it had owners from its point-of-view! The orange and blue clothed trainer freaked out at this, bellowing “What the heeeeeeeccckkkkkk!?! All these wild Pokémon are here to try to eat Scuttlebutt! This place is crazy and no wonder people insist you have a starter Pokémon?” “Phaaannnpy....?!?! Ppyyyyyyyy.” the beast bellowed, making Warren reach for his Pocket knife, and move in a way to have the Long Nose [Elephant] Pokémon on his left, and the Bat on his right. It'd be crazy to try to fight them both, but circumstances dictated that if he had to, he had to. Scrapheap [as the Magnemite had just reproven he was], was useless right now. Returned to PokeballConfusedChillaxin' a bit confused as to where he's at; or why his trainer just pulled a pocket knife out.

A rather weakened Zubat was more than a little shocked when a Phanphy dropped out of the sky and almost crushed him. This madness was beginning to addle Zubat's mind a little, but he had to satiate his thirst after all, and hesitation was a surefire ticket to defeat. So his grandmama had always told him. She had died when she'd flown without hesitation into a windmill... but still! Baring his fangs as he hissed at Warren, he swooped down to attack the Phanphy with an intimidating growl, attempting to suction some life from this odd newcomer to the battle, whatever in Arceus' name it was. ::zubat:: Zubat used Leech Life on Phanphy. Warren didn't even know what to do. Suddenly the battle seemed overwhelming; and he felt that the wild Pokemon were going to attack him and his Pokemon in some sort've wild Pokemon horde that mimics zombies; but then things changed entirely. The grey-blue eyed trainer just couldn't understand what was going on, confused as his Magnemite had been before when this Zubat turned tail at the disappearance of Weedle; and instead of charging at Magnemite or Warren, it charged at this new-comer, this Phanpy. It charged at it and bit into the chillaxing long-nosed elephant like Pokemon, and that was the wrong move it seemed. Phanpy wasn't sure why it was out of it's Pokeball or why its trainer [it knew who Warren was, it had seen his picture before and knew the smell of his family. It even knew him a tiny bit, he had helped feed it once or twice before] wasn't giving it any orders while obviously in a Pokemon battle. As those fangs bit against the Long-Nosed Pokemon's grey-blue skin, the confusion left it. This was a wild Pokemon battle; and oh-no-that-Zubat-did-not-just-bite-it! "Yer messin' with the wrong Phanpy today, Purplebug!" Phanpy trumpeted-roared towards the Zubat, charging into a tackle after the Zubat had bit it. Warren's grey-blue eyes watched the battle intently for a moment, and then the dark haired young man looked over his shoulder to his own starter Pokemon. A quick sweep noticed the Magnemite still dizzy for a second, but it's float leveled off after the Elephant began it's charge, and Warren commanded Magnemite, hoping the Magnet pokemon would understand him. "Use Electricshock on Zubat again!" he bellowed out at Magnemite, and the Magnet gave the closest it could to a yes, though something about the grey pokemon made it seem like it was about ready to puke. Apparently this was true, as though the Electric shock was sent forward, it was far less controlled, and Warren had the [un]pleasant feeling of his Pokemon's shock shivering through his left arm and tearing his Orange Hoodie's left sleeve from the shiver of electricity hit him; as the majority of the Electric-Steel pokemon's blast rocketed towards Zubat [and Phanpy]. ::Magnemite:: Nearly Puked Lightning; Is Confused; Used Thundershock on Zubat

The Zubat nearly fainted from the sight of this. The Pokemon were double teaming on him! This was fair to him! The Thundershock was, well, shocking. The tingling pain from made Warren almost want to grit his teeth together; but his eyes didn't lie any more than the momentary tingling pain in his left arm did. Zubat was out like a light, and this was his chance! He had to remove the Zubat from the field; and he also could make sure his dream about having it on his team came true. He grit his teeth together, reaching for an empty pokeball with his left hand; and then clenched it for a few seconds until the electricity finally left.
He threw the simple red and white [standard] Pokeball at Zubat then, hoping to catch it.

Warren's grin was so wide it would make that Phanpy there look like a waif of a girl, as he saw this; his second caught Pokémon. He had a Zubat on his team, and a pretty tough one at that, the kind of Pokémon that could be a valuable addition! He grinned at his Magnemite, and for a moment even at this strange [and wild, right?] Phanpy, giving a thumbs up to his Magnet Pokémon. "I think you're a really good asset to the team, Magnemite! A real Gizmo! Gizmo?" He guffawed. "That'll be your name! Gizmo!" "Maaggneeemiiitttte." the Magnet Pokémon replied. "Phaaannnppppyyyy." The long-nose Pokémon looked like it wanted some level of praise too; not yet aware its trainer didn't know it was his Pokémon. It tried to step up to him even, wanting at least a pet atop it's sore head, but the trainer tried to circle around it, to pick up the Zubat Pokeball, making the Phanpy look even sadder. "Phaaannnpyyyy." Warren rolled, grabbing the Pokeball he had thrown as the Long-Nose, Elephant like Pokémon trudged towards him, putting the pokeball on his belt but not moving quick enough for the 73 pound cyan-grey Pokémon to now mow him down as he tried to dodge and it ran forward. Warren fell backwards [as Magnemite floated there unconcerned], and Phanpy pounced atop him and felt his face with it's nose and tried to lick him. All the while, he was squirming, as even if this Pokémon was nice, it was still a wild Pokémon and could attack him at any moment! Not even mentioning the pain in his back, what was he laying on, what, what? The Orange hoodied trainer rolled himself and the Pokémon off of him, and quickly reached for the object... a Pokeball... in leather and cardboard paper wrapping? What was this note on it? He quickly scurried to his feet, holding the Phanpy at bay with his left hand; and tried to open the envelop. After the sixth attempted charge, Phanpy decided it'd go saunter over to Gizmo and chill out under him; and Warren finally was able to read the contents of the letter. He reached further into the envelope, seeing the intact dehydrated Pokemon food; but only crumbs of cookies, which made him tear up. No cookies for him, no cookies for him... he thought for a moment, realizing 'I have a Phanpy, awesome!' and the grin returned, upwrapping the Cyan topped tinted Pokeball which the Phanpy had been sent in. He had started the day with 1 Pokemon, and now had 4! In one day, and it wasn't even over yet!

<Cold. Cold. Cold.> A Caterpie repeated to herself nonstop as her freezing arms held a small leaf over her back to shelter her from the wind. It had been blowing an awful lot today, to her distress. The days of cold were soon coming, and she had to make sure she had the proper food supply to last her throughout the winter.
She carried a small Oran Berry under her leafy jacket, so it would only hang onto her back the tighter she held onto it. Any looser, and the poor berry would fall to the ground again, and she would have to wash the darn thing all over again.
She had to slowly work her way up a tree though, and she had to admit, that was quite a challenge. She sighed, looking up at her home with longing eyes. She was tired enough already, but to go right up this gigantic thing? She preferred to rest herself before attempting such a thing.

The quint of Pokemon and their trainer [or at least the trio of currently not fainted Pokemon and their trainer] were huddled around the campfire that Warren had made, with Phanpy and Yamna helping by bringing some of the branches for the fire, and rocks for it's surrounding area; and with Gizmo the Magnemite giving the spark. Scuttlebutt? He did a lot of directly to his fellow Pokemon as he nuzzled in their trainer's hoodie's hood. As the fire was crackling and their food was finished warming up; some all-purpose Pokemon chow that had been re-hydrated thanks to Warren [and Phanpy] bringing water to the site, and the quad of [awake] Pokemon eagerly rubbed their limbs together for the warmth of the fire [okay Magnemite just sort've hovered there] and while waiting for the chow. Magnemite, he had been given a rechargable battery pack for his dinner and was devouring the electricity happily; but the others were waiting, and their trainer's heated up pan of chilli [which he had no intent to share any of them aside from perhaps Scuttlebutt and Lugh, meat couldn't be good for Phanpy, and Magnemite didn't even have a mouth].
But it was then, amongst the fire's crackling and the cool chill of the evening air; that he heard it. The dark haired young man's eyes looking from the ground in front of him to the darkness, following the sound of 'Cateeerrppieee.'
Warren raised an eyebrow for a moment, and then made a nod. Time for Scuttlebutt to do some work!
"Scuttlebutt! Lugh! Find that Caterpie and invite it over to eat with us!" The pokemon blinked at him for a moment, but then the Clear Wing [Dragonfly] Pokemon started fluttering, and Weedle hopped on his back as it flew by, the duo searching like a rescue helico Pidgeot, for that Caterpie.

Hearing the sound of some kind of vibration, the Caterpie curiously looked up in the air from the base of her tree. She had initially wanted to scream, fearing that it had been a Beedrill out on the prowl. Instead, she saw the company of a Yanma and a Weedle. An odd combination, but she had always seen both bug species as friendly, despite Weedle's evolution.
She continued to watch them in the sky, oblivious that they were looking for her. They sure had the intent of finding something, that was for sure. She sighed, shuddering as another gust of wind nearly toppled her over. She struggled to hold onto her leaf, but the poor thing was forced off of her back, flying away into the sky.
She squeaked when she saw her Oran Berry go bouncing away, and she gave a fast pursuit of the precious item until her stubby arms wrapped around it. Goodness, she almost lost her winter food.
